Hey true warrior mains,

Quite some time passed since the most recent balance patch, and I have continued to try figure out min-maxed gear, and test out rotations for most of the weapon combinations on warrior. The following builds are split in Benchmarks, Rotations and Situational/Fotm to make the use of each one clear.

The Benchmarks don't use any full counter in their rotations, and are the most realistic ones for real raid scenarios. I know there are still a lot of discussions around whether or not dagger 4 can be considered realistic but (after a bunch of testing) I can definitely say, yes. It is. Even on bosses with high apm; dagger 4 can be used correctly in the rotation, or be delayed for the 100% modifier. Most bosses have a simple attack pattern, and are pretty slow at doing it (VG, Gorseval, KC, Deimos etc). Better knowledge of the bosses also applies to the right use of dagger.

The Full Counter Rotations are a nice way to show where you should fill gaps with full counter or replace eviscerate. The Situational/Fotm build is mostly used in fractal CM's, with tactics over discipline. Weapon combinations change depending on the boss, but i won't go in detail.

Gear:

In general there are 2 viable setups to run. Primary Setup: signet of might + sigil of accuracy (more assassin gear than the Secondary Setup)

Secondary Setup: signet of fury + sigil of air

On paper the secondary setup pulls ahead around 2%. However the higher stats from the primary setup gives better burst damage, which is more useful in real fights.

Important! Don't forget to use one 'precise infusion' on your gs to cap crit chance!

Viability:

Mace + Axe / Axe + Dagger pulls slightly ahead due to not being depentent of full counters. The other builds can be used depending on the boss, tactic and situation. Some offer a lot more room to use full counters than others, such as Sloth, Sabetha or Dhuum.

Mace brings some reliable cc, helps to keep up 'Attacker's Insight' and is perfect to fill some utility gaps of dps spellbreaker (credit to ButterPeanut91 for the idea). On the other hand greatsword suffers from 'Whirlwind Attack', it's pretty easy to lose scholar or miss wells, celestial avatar etc. Positioning is also pretty important because you can loss a bunch of dmg if you miss some of the hits on small hitboxes.

We also want to mention, that Banner Base Warrior above isn't a meme, it's already superior (in speedruns) over condi berserker on bosses like sloth and samarog! We will add a benchmark soon after we finish to minmax weapon combinations (gear stays the same) for those scenarios. Stay Tuned!

Situational:

Take Healing Signet over "To the Limit!" for a better scholar uptime, if you don't need to start with full adrenaline, or don't need extra adrenaline at the current boss.

Replace 'Signet Of Rage' with "Rampage" for extra cc or Winds of Disenchantment for boon removal and projectile absorption.

For a "whole time" meta, Dragon's Stand daily Hero's Choice Chest reward feels underwhelming.

By "whole time" I mean it's the whole thing you do the whole time you're in the map. It's not like the other HoT maps where it has "breathing" hours before the meta actually begins. Like the moment you start Dragon's Stand you're doing the meta itself.

I get that the other metas will only reward say, 1 Amalgamated Gemstone, but with the length you do with DS, I feel like it's not as rewarding if you get just 1 gemstone or black diamond or whatever. I think the Commando Crate is good, but the other choices feel lacking.

Tyria's races, the expansions, and what this could mean for the future

Both GW2 Expansions have a base relation with a single playable race

This was the revelation I had talking with a close friend about the future of the game plot-wise, and in retrospect, it seems all but obvious. Heart of Thorns was Sylvari out the butt; and Path of Fire was about killing a Human God down in the Human inhabited Kingdom of Elona

Which then, begs the question; What would future expansions be if they're tied to the other races?

The Norn Expac could clearly have us revisit the Far Shiverpeaks, possibly even The Eye of The North. Infact, this might be the next expac if we dont dissuade Braham from not killing Jormag

But then what about the Charr and all but inevitable Asura expac?

Dhuums Doom - Spellbreaker Kiter

After playing for a while with different messenger kiters (druid/tempest/rev/warrior) I present to my newest monstrosity - Spellbreaker kiter. It combines utility aspects of both BannerSlave and BoonStripper. May sound wonky BUT:

  • Basically immortal - tempest level sustain (800+ passive HPs) plus 25k+ HP

  • 600 range AoE condi cleanse for unfortunate succs

  • Dank meme build: nomad/shaman warrior with a rifle and healing banner in raids :^) (gearing below)

This allows to change the most popular comp accordingly:

  • BS and condi renegade can be switched for weavers or another dps class.

  • Boon prevention instead of stripping (Citing based /u/Nike_Phoros)

With WoD the team can go full blast dps. Having the bubble essentially lets you push about 5% boss HP deeper than if you didn't have it.

  • The only real drawback is the lack of burst healing, but it shouldn't be needed unless someone detonates affliction few times in a row right on top of you or ppl forget to clear star

Gearing looks something like this: nomad/minstrel up to the toughness threshold, then magi/shaman/harrier for the remaining slots. Viable sigils: Transference, Transference (major), Renewal
Viable runes: Dolyak, Monk, Dwayna, Durability, Rebirth
Viable food: Tropical Peppermint Cake, Delicious Rice Roll
Viable trait changes for learning: Defense (1-1-2) instead of Tactics

Playstyle does not differ much from traditional kiters: place offensive banners near your squad, use the healing banner to grant regen to vulnerable Reapers (star), use WoD around 6:32, 5:12, 3:52, 2:32, 1:12.

Every Guardian has access to teleports, so please stop with the whispers and useless reports for us using them.

Instead, learn to play other classes and stop wasting Anet's and our time with your salty whispers and recordings of "hacking" guardians.

Information, for those that need it:

  • Sword 2 is a teleport
  • Judges Intervention is a teleport
  • Merciful Intervention is a teleport

Seriously, I dislike PSA's, even this one, but I'm hoping it will encourage people to look up skills or even learn other classes and stop the nonsense.

Need help on my lvl 80 thief build (PvE)

Im focused right now on finding the best armor for my level 80 thief (For PvE!). When i bought the PoF expansion i used the max level boost and got the Valkyrie Rascal armor of the thief and im looking for better armor. I hear terms like berserkers and when i look it up i get shown all these different kinds of armor. I've been grinding for gold in the silverwastes so i have the money, i just need help for a good armor set for PvE

Phantasm Changes: Overall a good change but some gripes

So now that we've had two weeks to play around with Phantasm Changes for Mesmer, I'm super on board with all the changes they made but I do think there are some more improvements/QoL's we can/should see.

1) Focus's Phantasmal Warden's attack speed and thus transition from Phantasm to Clone.

As most are aware, Temporal Curtain is practically a staple and must have for raiding. It provides so much utility for grouping adds and to an enemy positioning (other pulls don't have the luxury of being ranged, having the range, or being positional). However, this also means that your non shield phantasm for support chronos is most often going to be the Warden. As we can see via Snowcrows.com benchmarks, all their chrono rotation displays are using swords. Why? Because the warden has the longest attack duration!! Even the Phantasmal Defender has a shorter attack/block window. Because Phantasmal Defender relies on # of hits being blocked, having a longer duration for it's attack/block is valuable. Similarly, the Warden holds some of the same utility with it's reflect/projectile destruction effects so it also somewhat makes sense to be a touch longer. Having said that, it feels absolutely horrible. I propose that on summon of the Warden, a Lesser Feedback that only destroys projectiles occurs. This would allow for the warden's attack pattern to be sped up and it's "clone to phantasm phase" normalized with the other phantasms.

2) Illusions treeline in the Master level. Lack of Synergy Currently, the traits are: Escape Artist (create a clone when you gain stealth), Phantasmal Haste (you gain quickness when summoning a phantasm and phantasm has haste when it enters), Maim the Disillusioned (Shatter skills inflict torment on hit). You could argue that Phantasmal Haste + Persistence of Memory have a synergy but going back to the Phantasmal Warden, even with it getting quickness, it will use up all of the quickness and therefore not actually pass on any additional quickness to the player. Phantasmal Haste makes the damage come out more quickly but ultimately does not do anything other than create a faster burst window. Maim the Disillusioned is in a similar boat in that it creates opportunities for condition stacking bursts. However, it holds anti-synergy with say for example the Scepter auto chain which WANTS to have full illusions to get extra torment off Ether Clone. Escape artist looks like a very niche and neat trait but I see it more as a trait for sPvP and WvW. Understanding that could be intention, I don't think it needs some touch up but. I'd like to see Phantasmal Haste and Maim the Disillusioned to be re-thought.

Shooting Gallery adventure is easy. Here's how to get gold in less than 10 tries.

I recently came back from a long absence and one of the things I finally did was Shooting Gallery.

After just a few tries, I got gold. Here's what I figured out to make it much easier:

  1. Zoom in to first person for the shooting.

  2. Go to your General Options and reduce your Camera Rotation Speed down to like 20% of the bar. This reduces your mouse sensitivity while aiming, making it much easier to aim precisely at small targets in the distance.

  3. Decrease your Field of View to the minimum. This is basically like using a sniper scope while aiming, since it makes your screen zoom in.

  4. Right after you shoot a target, if you don't see the next one appearing on your screen, glance at the minimap for half a second to see the location of the next target. The minimap shows an icon where the targets are, and the next icon appears right after you shoot a target. Once you see the general direction of the next target on the minimap, look back to your screen and go shoot it.

  5. Don't waste time looking at your score while shooting. You need your eyes focused on shooting targets and checking the minimap between targets. Worry about your score after the adventure is done.

I followed these steps and got gold in less than 10 tries. For the first several tries, I was just learning the locations of the targets. Then I started actually trying to get gold and got it in just a few tries.
