A Music Guild Tries to Raid - Part 6

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 08:56 AM PST

Lets talk about the horrid state of the "Fallen Masks" adventure, and how it's almost unwinnable.

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 11:56 AM PST

The Adventure Fallen Masks, is a challenge to get 25 waypoints, in 3 Minutes and 15 seconds. This generally, even if you do it perfectly isn't possible.

The first mask is always in the same place, and takes 2.5 seconds to get to.

The second mask can spawn in 5 places, and will take 5-6.5 seconds to get to from the first.

The third through twenty-fifth can spawn in 15 different locations that can take between 3 seconds at minimum (rarely) and up to 19 seconds to get to, with an average of around 9 seconds to get from check mark to check mark.

That means an average RNG run, with the best possible skill will take you 3 minutes, 27 seconds to beat. The time limit is 3 minutes and 15 seconds

A bad RNG run, even if done perfectly, has a minimum completion time of 5 minutes and 34 seconds (about)

The odds of getting a RNG run that is even possible is LESS THAN 2% Unfortunately, I'm not perfect at this. So in a bit over three hours (60 attempts) I've only had maybe one possible run, that I messed up.

If you assume average RNG per player, and that they will mess up about half of the time, at 18 runs an hour, you have an average completion time of 5 hours and 25 minutes, with it not being unreasonable for it to take over 12 hours if you're unlucky.

  • Is a single mastery point and achivement worth 1 AP worth 5 and a half hours?

  • This needs to be fixed, make it set possible rotations instead of random.

Been playing since launch. Finally finished my first legendary! - Astralaria

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 07:15 AM PST

Been playing since the original GW2 was released, but never bothered with legendaries as none of them fit my taste + the journey felt too long and expensive for me.

Fast forward 5 years of casually playing and now I finally have my own little 'pocket galaxy'. None of my friends play, and all my guildies were offline. Wanted to share my joy with someone, so thought it'd sate my narcissism a bit here.

Have a great day everyone!

Skimmer's skill should dive vertically instead of forward

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 04:26 AM PST

  1. It makes more sense for a rezzing skill to drop us right on top of downed allies so that we can continue rezzing right away instead of walking back because of the pointless dash

  2. Skimmer is advantageous when used on bodies of water. Now, why would you want to drop off in the middle of the water? because most likely you want to explore something below. Make it so that the skimmer dive you maybe 600 range into the water? would make more sense than the way it works now. If players want to drop on the surface, they can just toggle mount off.

This community is awesome, I log on GW2 for my daily chest and notice a guy in chat saying "ask a noob question and I'll give you gold." So of course I hop on the idea and say "How do I get easy Gold?"

I'm now 30 gold richer and saving up for a griffon.

You guys are great! :,D

Any news about updating the Celestial Infusion?

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 06:50 PM PST

Hey, reddit! Some time ago there was a topic here about the texture of the Celestial Infusion having such a low resolution and a GM said they'd take a look at it. Are there any news on this? The infusion could really stand a r evision. Sorry for my bad English!

[SHNY] Updated Benchmarks for Inventory Wars 2 (Path of Fire launch patch)

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 11:48 PM PST

Hello everyone!

First of all, I know this is, like, several months late. To be fair, the Black Lion Trading Post takes a very active role in balancing the different crafting professions, such that the best dps (dough per slot) can change from Tailoring to Armorsmithing within a day.

When Path of Fire giving us larger slot bags from the new ecto gambler, the meta shifted a lot, and the dps of many builds went waaaay up, and we really needed a way to actively track the current state of balance.

So, I made a spreadsheet tool that tells you the gold cost-per-slot for expanding your inventory in various ways, that pulls directly from the API.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PByTclqijotNpi2hHmdOyB2bCZ31ltoU1zX-NLNIGVY/edit?usp=sharing

If you have any suggestions, or questions about theory crafting builds for Inventory Wars, let me know.

Major Notes:

  • For character inventories you can either buy another bag slot with gems, or upgrade the size of existing bags. the break point is somewhere between 20 and 24 slot bags depending on your situation

  • if you are considering making 24/28 slot bags and might upgrade them to 28 or 32 slot bags BEWARE! these bags will SOULBIND once equipped, so only that character will be able to use them in crafting to upgrade them. If you think you will ever upgrade to bigger bags, choose the bag that matches your character's profession.

  • before buying another bank tab, consider buying a new character, and filling their inventory with stuff you don't usually need quick access to, like reward chests that you haven't decided on yet, materials that don't fit into mat storage(like those stacks of bloodstone dust and dragonite ore?)

  • shared inventory slots are really not cost efficient ways to expand your inventory. SURPRISE.

The post sPvP Dialog Window

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 08:00 PM PST

Why do we have timers to look at the info? It is a ux nightmare... I just finished a match and now I have to look at all the data within about 5 seconds or click the link so that it goes back to what I was looking at. There are two effing timers going while I'm just trying to see my stats. It seems like it wouldn't be that hard to just show us all the data at once or let us click on what we want to see without the timer going.

Is Empower Allies a realistic buff anymore?

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 06:38 AM PST

With the last patch changes to Warrior, both Spellbreaker and Berserker are top tier DPS, making effective use of Discipline instead of Tactics. Both specs can easily slot in Banners with only a 2-3k DPS loss. Empower Allies is only 150 Power, which is around a 2.5% DPS increase for power classes. Don't have time to do the math, but just throwing this thought out there.

Mesmer question

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 07:50 PM PST

I'm not super familiar with mesmers, but how is the change to phantasms not a huge dps loss?

Before wouldn't they stay up a long time doing high damage? Wasnt like half a mesmers damage his phantasms?

Now dont they do one quick skill, then become an illusion?

Why isn't that a lot less dps since Phantasm becomes illusion so fast?

I feel like I'm missing something...
