Fear the Fog Update

Dear BHVR and People of the Fog.

The Entity has been to forgiving to cocky survivors and should no longer take their mocking behavior for granted. It is time for The Entity to bite back. It's time for the Fog.

Okay, cringe worthy opening out of the way now.

A poisonous fog should start to appear either as soon the generators are done or as soon as the exit gates open. There are so many ways this can be executed. I'll throw a few examples down.

The Fog:

  • starts to distort the players vision the longer they're there
  • will cause players to "cough" every once in a while revealing their location to the killer
  • will exhaust players
  • will thicken over time but ONLY visible to survivors, making it harder to navigate the map.
  • will KILL or knock down players after a certain amount of time
  • also maybe activates 5 minutes after hatch opens?
  • can cause some form of "Insanity" effect after inhaling for too long by turning on either a constant heartbeat, or chase music

Just a few possible ideas, I'm not saying to stack all of these ideas into one. 😅 I know I've mentioned this in a few comments but I've never made a thread about it.

TLDR: a game changing feature either default or for a new killer that will deture toxic playstyles such as holding the game hostage and hiding until the killer finds you / disconnects. Will also put more pressure on survivors when saving someone at the end of game.

Opinions? Input? I know you're here BHVR. and if you are here I want to let you know that I appreciate your work.

PSA: Hiding in a locker with a bear trap

If you are in a locker with an active bear trap on once the timer runs it you are forced to jump out of the locker and you immediately die.

PSA for survivors: begin repairing every gen you come across

Except for the very beginning of a match when you're trying to hide from the killer's first patrol, you should always get every generator started. So, for example, if you're running across the map for an unhook and come across a 0% gen, take 2 seconds to get it started. That way the gen is making noise, which will give survivors two benefits. 1, it will help other survivors find the gen easier. 2, it might distract the killer and make them take time to damage the gen and look around the area.

Survivors arms Killers. Part 1 and 2.

I've been writing something on my phone for a bit on my commutes, and I've decided to start sharing some of them. I actually did this a while back when I first got the game, but have revisited it. Here's the first 2 Killers modeled after Meg Thomas and Dwight Fairfield.

The Leader

"This damned place lacks time. Everyone knows that. I've been here for innumerable trials, endless deaths and escapes. I saw a familiar face in the fog. Limping, crying in pain, wheezing and coughing with each painful step. I walked towards him, wanting to help. As I came closer, I saw the maimed and brutalized form of Dwight Fairfield. Bits of bone protruding from skin, blood dripping from his exposed rib cage. I stumbled back from him, trying to escape, but he wouldn't let me escape. He came closer and closer, before he was on me. He screeched horrifically, and everything went dark."

Time does not matter in the Entity's realm. Sometimes instead of the nervous yet comforting face of Dwight Fairfield we see the tortured mask of this monster. Dwight Fairfield was eventually used up, and only one thing remains in his broken mind.

Fear.

Ability: Panic The Remnant can channel their ability to let out a blood curdling shriek. Any survivor within a 10 meter radius is stunned for 3 seconds. While stunned, they can't perform actions and can only crouch walk. Any movement effects are removed while crouch walking.

Weapon: His hand. The bones have been viciously broken and the jagged fractured finger bones protrude from his skin. Each attack causes him to scream in pain.

Cooldown animation is him putting his bones back in place, accompanied by winced of pain.

Mori: The Leader starts crying as he walks to the survivor. As they roll over onto their back, he jumps on them. He viciously stabs them in the neck 5 times, crying as he does so. Once the survivor stops moving, he gets up, shaking and putting his head in his hands while whimpering.

Perks: Prove Thyself: "He has become what he feared. So now he fears what they fear. -unknown" Your fear of the Entity causes you to become enraged at escape. When a survivor escapes from a chase with you, you gain a token. Once you reach 7/6/5 tokens, you can instantly down a survivor with an attack. Doing so will spend all tokens. Leadership: "I have an idea, how about you take one for the team, shut the hell up, and die!"-Clyde Teamwork benefits are 50/75/100% less effective. Bond: "Please stop running..."-The Leader You tap into the hope and determination of the survivors to become even more dangerous. Every time you are stunned by a pallet, you move 10/15/25% faster for 5 seconds.

The Runner

"I heard a sound through the fog. Panting, anticipating something . I heard the heartbeat, and hid. Coming through the fog I saw a survivor fleeing from something, something moving fast. Too fast for this poor man. Racing from the fog a creature came, shriveled up and dry. It's muscles pulsated and were swollen. Crawling up it's decrepit torn skin were black veins oozing with a foul pus. As the new blood covered it's skin, moisture returned and the creature laughed as it drew more."

Even in futility, we fight back. Despite all odds, humans will resist. If you can fight it, there is hope. Where does that obsession and drive go when there is no way to fight? And what would you do to gain it back?

Ability: Steel Spike The Runner will bend down to pull a spike out of their leg. Once this animation is done, For 15 seconds, The Runner moves at 160% speed. Attacks will halt her movement for the animation.

Weapon: While moving normally, wields a wooden stake. Her animation for this is wiping the blood onto her arm while giggling slightly.While under the effects of Steel Spike, the spike pulled out of her leg will be her weapon. Her animation for this is wiping the blood off on her arm while laughing.

Mori: The survivor will start to get up until they are on their knees. The Runner will then stab their neck with her weapon before throwing it aside. As blood spurts from the wound, The Runner will claw at it, coating her hands in blood. As the survivor falls to the ground twitching, The Runner will rub her arms and head with the blood, sighing contentedly.

Perks: Adrenaline: You love the chase. You gain bloodlust 15/20/25 percent faster. "She's free, run!" Quick and Quiet: Your footsteps are 50/75/100% quieter. "The campfire is very cozy, don't you think?" Sprint Burst: After downing a survivor, you move 10/15/20% faster for 5 seconds.

Lobby Issues

I am trying to rank up with survivor but i can barely get any decent game started. Lobbies get canceled while entering, pings of successful lobbies are much higher than usual, the game disconnects me from lobby randomly... and once i actually enter the match in many cases one survivor is already missing. Is this new?

Anyone want more cosmetic DLC?

I was looking at the release dates for the cosmetic DLCs, and it seems we've got them in the last quarter of the year, and summer.

I just know I kinda wish there was some more smaller cosmetic DLC's. Just something to kinda be hyped over rather than another chapter. I love the chapters but I also would just like some items for Huntress and King. Maybe even the licensed characters if that's something they could work out. (Don't think they'll happen though)

What other plausible Licensed Killers would make sense in a DBD?

So I'm no Slasher movie guru, but I do know about all the pop culture Slasher movie icons like Chucky, Pinhead, Ghostface, Jeepers Creepers and of course the ones we've been blessed with in Dead by Daylight already. Believe or not, I've actually never seen any of Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger and Leatherface movies until late last year.

So I was wondering what are some other Killers from other franchises that would make sense in the Dead by Daylight lore? Killers like Chucky, Leprechaun and Annabelle (cringe) wouldn't make sense from Dead by Daylight current gameplay mechanics as much as people were expecting Billy the Doll to be the Killer in DBD when the SAW teaser came out. Which by the way, the SAW Chapter was super unexpected for me. Didn't even know there was an actual Killer behind the whole torture gore-filled franchise as I've never seen them. I'm glad the chapter came to DBD because The Pig 🐖 is now one of my favorite Killer mains in the game.

Thoughts?
