I want to help Dota 2 players get better, starting with replay analysis videos. Here's my first one!

Posted: 14 Jan 2018 03:11 PM PST

Hi everyone! I want to start helping players improve at Dota 2, especially the lower skilled ones. I'm going to create more content to teach starting with replay analysis. Here's my first one of a person who asked me on /r/learndota2 to do one of his Medusa game.

I would really appreciate any feedback you have so I can improve to create better videos in the future.

Enjoy and have a great day!

Is Arc Warden an underpowered hero or just difficult?

Posted: 14 Jan 2018 10:05 AM PST

I love playing Arc Warden since he's a carry that's more difficult than 'farm quietly and right click'. But according to dotabuff his win rate is significantly below 50% in every MMR bracket, even the high tier ones. I know he has a few bugs with the mag field and his double (where can I report those?), but is this hero underpowered or is his low win rate due to people not knowing how to play him?

Battle Fury vs Maelstrom on Faceless Void

Posted: 14 Jan 2018 03:48 PM PST

Why is battle fury picked up on void over maelstrom nowadays? Is battle fury that much better in farming to take it over the lesser cost of maelstrom? I'm assuming MoM + battle fury is better than MoM + maelstrom in the long run but couldn't you fight better with the latter and transition better into late game that way?

Position 4 Venomancer?

Posted: 14 Jan 2018 11:41 AM PST

How is he in this? I want to play him as a pos 4, and gank early with gale/boots, but I don't see it being done. Is there a particular reason its bad?

I was just thinking that this item can fit OD really well.

No way is this meta, but has anyone tried this?

Struggling to have any impact as Invoker anymore

Posted: 14 Jan 2018 02:05 PM PST

Is he just not very strong this patch? Are other mids simply stronger right now? I'm losing mid almost every game, finding myself 1-2 levels behind when the lane stage is over. Even if we go on to win the game I am usually behind and it's down to my team winning it for me. I'm ending games with very little hero damage and modest KDAs, when I used to feel much more in control with him. Recently I've lost mid vs SF, Tinker, QOP, Sniper but my friend is adamant that Invoker is still too strong.

I start with tango and null, always rush Midas but sometimes have to get brown boots before finishing it, thus delaying crucial Midas timing. Next into Travels and Aghanims (varies which first), from there on itemization depends on the game. Do I need to adjust this playstyle from previous patches?

I'm 3.4k with 250 Invoker games so I have a reasonable grasp on him, even if I'm having low impact these days.

What if Int provides mana + mana regen + magic resistance and the primary stat bonus is spell amp instead?

Posted: 14 Jan 2018 04:35 AM PST

I was about to type a wall of text explaining my rationale behind this thought but now I think I might as well just directly ask for your thoughts about this, uh, I don't know if it counts as theorycraft?

Tinker Aether Lens

Posted: 14 Jan 2018 02:34 AM PST

I've been seeing a lot of tinkers getting lens recently. Just watched Cancel get one vs OG. I was always under the impression that Kaya was just better but now everyone is buying lens. I'm guessing it's because of the perma hex build but if someone could confirm? And then on a side note if someone could detail out the new hex build on tinker as I haven't played him in a while. Thanks

Edit: Spelling

WR Offlane feels like the new Jungle LC

Posted: 13 Jan 2018 05:22 PM PST

Ok its not nearly as bad but everytime I get one on my team I feel like its a gg. They ALWAYS feed out of control. Always flame and ping once they feed and contribute nothing special other then the odd shackle.

WR is not an offlaner right or have a just had bad luck. One or two did the Linkens rush btw.,

how to play the lane as arc warden

Posted: 13 Jan 2018 11:31 PM PST

I don't really know how you play the lane as an arc warden cuz teh skills he has aren't very intuitive when it comes to correctly using them. Like, "is it fine if I slow him here? won't he go to that creep", "where do I place my wraiths? here maybe". questions like that

Alchemist 'Farming Support' strategy

Posted: 14 Jan 2018 06:16 AM PST

https://youtu.be/KwVc7Uh6k7U

Hey guys. I always wanted to try out this strategy. It finally worked. The game was played in SEA server, divine bracket. I started the game as a safelane carry. I got Power Treads/SnY/Blink as my core items. After that, I started to build Aghs for my team. This strategy is very situational. You need at least 2 heores in your team that can powerspike and decide the game by getting Aghs from Alchemist.

In the video, I elaborate on my decision makings at every stage of the game. This could probably help some players out there wanting to learn what Divine players do and how they interact each other in high level pub games.

Specific Offlane Suggestions

Posted: 13 Jan 2018 04:07 PM PST

So, I've been checking around for good offlane heroes and strategies, most of what I've seen is just saying things such as play someone who's durable and get a good creep block in. I'm looking for a precise hero, with a good set out game plan for the offlane.
