Why does Oracle have such a low winrate?

Posted: 19 Jan 2018 04:30 AM PST

According to dotabuff, Oracle's winrate is currently less than 42%. I know that he's a hard hero to play, but then again, Earth Spirit, Meepo, Arc Warden, and Phoenix are also very hard to play, and they all have a much higher winrate.

Is he just weak, or does the meta not allow him to shine?

When would you rush Greaves?

Posted: 19 Jan 2018 03:51 PM PST

The recipe is so expensive and makes it more prohibitive to finish before buying other items early on.

However, the 15 armor and 12 health regeneration are large flat values that are much stronger early in the game before Desolators and ACs are completed. 12 HP a second could be 1% of an ally's HP pool a second if the greaves were rushed early enough.

Maybe good for early team pushes? Like maybe Chen would want this if he had a Lycan on his team?

Hmm.

I've calibrated under 1000. Again.

Posted: 19 Jan 2018 05:55 PM PST

According to Dota, I'm as good as the guys who auto attack the creeps in lane. I don't get it. Really. I'm not 2.5K, I know. But at least 1.5k I know I am. I've won 7 matches out of 10. I've won 6/7 of the solo queue.

I guess I'm just bad.

I need some help 'control tabbing'

Posted: 19 Jan 2018 01:04 PM PST

Hey,

Recently I've been starting to pick up terrorblade and noticed I lost about a second each time trying to micro my illusions. I remembered I had watched a video from /u/henry_rd talking about control tabbing. (This one in particular). I remember trying it out in a lobby and didn't get it to work but didn't think much of it since I wasn't planning on playing Naga anytime soon anyways.

However when I was actively trying to get it to work. I noticed however that when I hold in ctrl, ALL my units perform the command I just gave, even those that are not selected. I looked a bit into the options but didn't find anything that might cause it.

Any help would be appriciated!

Need some tips for relearning

Posted: 19 Jan 2018 01:00 PM PST

Basicly, I come back from LoL again, and want to give DotA another shot. The issue is that, I haven't like "really" played DotA for like 5 years, I mean, I have come back from time to time during those 5 years but the last time I "really" played the game for a long time was 5 years ago, but even when I played back then I practicaly sucked.

Now just to make this clear, I know the differences between LoL and DotA so don't gimme me those kind of tips.

What I need are some tips on heroes that I can play to learn how to last-hit and deny.

I also need tips on heroes to play that are good throughout the whole game and doesn't require a lot of farm. Basicly I have noticed that people in my skill level (very very low) tend to focus a lot on kills than to farm (mostly cause last-hitting is difficult) so if I wanna try play to win, I need heroes that can be good every stage of the game and can get fed through kills rather than farming for a long time.

EDIT: Need also general tips on when to buy situational items (Too many items in DotA for me to keep track on)

How/when to play offlane underlord? Builds?

Posted: 19 Jan 2018 06:43 AM PST

Tried out underlord yesterday and had a blast with the sheer damage differential in lane, then snowballed from there. How should I build him in general? What should I pick him into or avoid in draft?

Guides for mid and lh practice in 7.07 patch

Posted: 19 Jan 2018 08:47 AM PST

Hi,I'm looking for videos which shows how to lane in 7.07 patch. Currently Ancient 1 rank (started from 380 mmr 3 years ago) and recently I'm losing mid a lot, missing a lot of last hits for some reason. I dominated 90% players in mid last few months and then my level dropped. So if u have some videos for laning stage and custom game or something for last hit practice post it. Sorry for bad English.

Is Troll Warlord any good right now?

Posted: 19 Jan 2018 09:15 AM PST

I can't say I've seen him alot recently, so just asking this out of curiosity. Looking at his changelogs, I don't see any super important changes to him over the last couple of patches and I don't see any particular reason why he'd be bad right now.

If he is playable, how do you build him? Is MoM still the first item for farming even after the nerfs? Or like a lot of melee carries rn (PA, Jugg, PL) is it ok to go Battlefury? Does MKB's change from being a decent dmg item to basically just attack speed item hurt him a lot?

Question about matchmaking in new MMR

Posted: 19 Jan 2018 08:44 AM PST

I've gotten Archon3 medal but never been matched against another player of Archon level (or any higher). Its mostly Herald and Guardian with rare crusader and almost always an uncalibrated. Why don't I seem to get matched with equal or higher ranks? Its really frustrating to get matched with teammates who are a LOT worse most of the time.

Guides like Chaq’s?

Posted: 19 Jan 2018 01:31 AM PST

So everyone knows chaq's famous mid guide(s), is there any similar guides for carry/offlane? I have a lot of reading time but much less time to watch videos.

Break mechanic with a mage?

Posted: 18 Jan 2018 09:24 PM PST

Hey! I've been in this situation many times by now, I'm usually supporting and we are facing a Bristleback, PA, or DK (or the 3 at the same time) and my carrys will always evade Silverblade.. usually because they stomp this champions on early and go for items like blink dagger. What can I do? There should be a break mechanic for supports.. I can't buy a Silverblade with my farm.

Laning against AM as offlaner

Posted: 18 Jan 2018 10:59 PM PST

Hello guys, I'm basing my question off this match I had: https://www.opendota.com/matches/3686039568

Context: I was first pick offlane omni, while the enemy AM was one of the later picks.

I was trying to cs in lane but the AM was maintaining the lane equilibrium by denying a lot, so I was using purify to cs now and then.

Everytime the enemy jakiro comes to aggro, the am hits me and my mana is just gone like that. Omni is pretty useless without mana I feel.

Question:

What offlaner wins against an AM safelane? Is omni a favourable match up? Or someone who doesn't need mana to sustain in lane?

How do I mess up the creep equilibrium so he doesn't get farm?

Should I keep ferrying out clarity if I get harrassed by an AM?

Downtime between fights as an offlaner

Posted: 18 Jan 2018 10:20 PM PST

Hi guys, First submission here on the sub; Just played a game of Clock (Archon 1) and eventhough the game went well and I did pretty well I felt that my impact on the game outside of pick-offs and teamfights was minimum and I would just scout for people to pick off (instead of farming/ getting objectives) or jungling. I was wondering if you guys had some advice as to what the best use of your 'downtime' is as a offlaner, both when ur ahead and behind.
