NEW CHALLENGER (NCH)

Can't get out of Bronze? Trouble getting around that zoner? Need help with inputs, combos, setups? Looking for Coaching or that Online Tournament experience? You should keep reading!

THE LARGEST FIGHTING GAME COMMUNITY ON DISCORD

https://discord.gg/NewChallenger
New Challenger is a PS4/PC based casual fighting game group made by new players, for new players. The group is comprised of people that range from "I know how to throw a fireball!" to seasoned veterans looking to help out the new guys, and everything in between. Our goal is to help the newer people grow, learn the game and LEVEL UP!

COACHING

We teach YOU how to play and level up!!
The NCH has high level coaches ready to answer any SFV question you may have! They also volenteer their time to host random 1on1 and group Coaching Nights throughout the week. The purpose of these events are to help people to better understand the basic fundamentals, combos, tech, etc of the game.

TOURNAMENTS

Skill capped tournaments 0-7499 are held bi-weekly for both NA and EU! It's an opportunity for Bronze, Silver and Gold players to get the same tournament thrill higher ranked players get.

FIGHT NIGHTS

We are a VERY active Discord and someone ALWAYS has a lounge open. We hold regular evening Fight Nights for EU and NA! Fight Nights are an opportunity for Bronze, Silver, Gold players to get together with other members of NCH community in a lounge to play SFV and have some fun. They happen every night of the week and feature different organizers who set their own rules, although we strongly encourage a "3 win then you drop to the bottom" rule.

I'M NOT A BRONZE OR SILVER, CAN I STILL PLAY?
Of course you can!

One of the reasons New Challenger is so successful, is because of people like you who join events and give back to the community by helping other players improve! Fight Nights are a great time for new players to ask more experienced players for help or watch some great matches.

For more detailed information on any of these events and/or what were all about, check out the DISCORD or our WIKI in the links below.

Tekken 7 has received an input lag fix - will Capcom do the same?

Posted: 14 Dec 2017 01:32 AM PST

This game sorely needs a second input lag reduction. The T7 team was evidently able to figure out how to fix the issue with UE4 (Unreal Engine 4) that created added lag—since SFV runs on the same system, these changes can hopefully be brought to it as well. /u/Joe_Munday: now that we know the UE4 fix is possible, we should try to get some sort of feedback from Capcom on this issue.

DisplayLag tested the new Tekken patch and found that the PS4 version of the game now has an average delay of 4.8 frames—a solid value for a 3D fighter where the fastest attacks are around 10 frames. This is about a three frame reduction from the previous measurement.

Input delay is the third most significant user experience issue according to the subreddit's community feedback results. With the new season a few weeks away, this is the perfect time to make ourselves heard.

If your SFV is set to french, the store is full of typos and translation errors

Posted: 14 Dec 2017 04:55 AM PST

Just noticed this will browsing the store for new skins. A typo can happen, but practically every skin has a typo or error in it... Any idea who could be told about this so that it can be fixed ?

Ibuki possible nerf incoming

People are more hyped for Cody than Sagat. On Capcom Official twitter for "The Convict" (Cody image post) there are 3.9K likes while for "The King" (Sagat image post) 2.9k

Both are awesome characters but as Cody player is good to see this amazing reaction.

After 420 Submissions, here are the results from the Season 3 Character Hype Poll

Posted: 13 Dec 2017 08:36 PM PST

Which SF5 season 3 character are you most excited about?

Character Votes Percentage
Sakura 118 28.6%
Cody 115 27.8%
Sagat 69 16.7%
G 39 9.4%
Blanka 38 9.2%
Falke 34 8.2%

Which SF5 season 3 character are you least excited about?

Character Votes Percentage
Blanka 174 42.5%
Falke 89 21.8%
G 80 19.6%
Sakura 26 6.4%
Sagat 25 6.1%
Cody 15 3.7%

Despite the smaller sample size, we did manage to get slightly more than half the average number of users active on the sub at any given time. I think the data is pretty clear on Blanka being the least favorite addition to the game for the upcoming season. Reasons for that likely vary from general dislike of the character, to envy that he was included over their personal favorite (Makoto, Oro, C. Viper, etc).

The scoop on Juri V-trigger 2.

Posted: 13 Dec 2017 05:35 PM PST

Just in case anyone missed it. There is a video of Sako playing at PSX. His Juri opponent tested the VT2 in the video and the results are as follows.

1- You can combo into it from literally anything. jab > VT2 is a combo.

2- you can combo from the VT2 roundhouse kick with lights. So for example crLP > stLK > VT2 > stLP > fuha store > qcfKK is a combo.

3- The animation of the above combo, especially the qcfKK, lasts enough time to steal about 1 EX bar or slightly more.

So in summary, you can combo into it from literally anything, and you can continue the combo from it to steal an entire EX bar. You get oki after the combo, so if they eat a meaty into another combo they will lose another EX bar.

Now that we know what you can do with it. What do you think? It seems pretty good for a 2 bar V-trigger in my opinion.

Now that the season is pretty much over and Arcade Edition is on its way, what is your personal Tier List for Season 2/2.5?

Posted: 13 Dec 2017 07:29 PM PST

I'll start by sharing mine.

My impression through the year is that the game had a lot of strong, viable characters which could work at a competitive level. Even if some characters were much more common than others there was still a good level of diversity in tournaments. A Birdie player won Capcom Cup, I think this alone shows how tiers are relatively close to each others currently in this game.

The heavy-handed nerfs to Chun, Nash and Ryu between Season 1 and 2 though were definitely a low point. Especially with Ryu I feel like he went from being the character that supposedly could be good at each playstyle to the one that was very mediocre at everything and had no clear strength at all aside from somewhat higher damage than some.
