| I got an Ex pass and caught MewTwo. It still was not fun. Posted: 04 Dec 2017 11:31 AM PST To start on a positive note, the upside to the story is that I have a nice 89% Mewtwo and I don't have to be salty anymore. I really feel bad for everyone who is still waiting, I felt the same way until a week ago when my Ex pass showed up. I don't care if I never get another one, at least it's in my Dex. But I'm writing this not to compain about the waiting and randomness (plenty of other discussion about that), but instead to complain that ACTUAL ex-raid experience sucked. First of all, it was at a Starbucks, about a mile from my house. I live in a big city so I was just going a bit out of the way on weekends to hit up all the Starbucks and Sprint stores with raids at any level once it became clear that was the way. The RNG finally came through for me. First problem: My son already had a (small) birthday party scheduled at the exact time of the Ex-Raid. I knew my kids would be disappointed if we missed maybe our only chance to catch MewTwo (it's their favorite Pokemon too), so fortunately, we were able to contact the other kids and reschedule the party, and the party turned out fine. But that was a totally unnecessary inconvenience. Second problem: My whole family came with me to the Starbucks, although only I had the raid pass. We arrived an hour early to try to take the gym, we're all Valor, and the Ex gym was being held by Mystic. However, it was clear from the similar names of the 6 gym members that it was 6 related accounts, and the lead Pokemon was a CP3219 Blissey (if anyone follows the stats, that's a 100% lvl 40 Blissey). My family and I beat down that Blissey about 50 times in the first half hour, but it was always at full motivation. Since the limit per berry feeded is 10 per hour per user, obviously the multi-account cheater was determined to keep the gym and had a virtually unlimited number of accounts and goldens to do it. So we eventually decided we didn't have a hope in hell and just gave up and did other stuff for the next 30 minutes until the raid. Then there was the Starbucks itself. I looked around and asked other people using their phones if they were playing PoGo, nobody was. Not outside the building either. So the raid time started, since I hadn't seen anybody else playing I just entered the lobby, it filled up to 20 in seconds. Obviously, MewTwo was beaten very quickly, and I managed to get 1 damage ball by using 1 SC/SB Gengar and 3 B/Cr Tyranitars before it ended. Team red also got 1 team ball, so I had 8. Fortunately, I caught MewTwo on the first throw, so that part of the day was successful. Then we waited around for about 15 more minutes to finish our coffees and see if any other real players would show up, nobody did. So I essentially beat MewTwo with 19 spoofers and didn't meet a single player. All in all a very disappointing experience, from August when MewTwo was announced, until yesterday when I got mine. Now that my dex is complete except for 3 regionals, I think I'm basically done playing. (2 of which I can get on a family trip to Disneyworld) I don't want to want to put all the blame on spoofers, either. Many of them are doing it for commercial reasons, and accounts with Mewtwo sell for hundreds of dollars on grey market sites, so they have a huge financial incentive to ruin the game. I blame Niantic for not understanding human nature, economics, and game theory, and building such a terrible system for distributing the game's premier prize. [link] [comments]  | ||

They cannot be used for catching Wild Pokemon, or in any future Raids. A maximum of 100 Premier Balls can be held at any given time. Once accumulated 100 Premier Balls, head to a Gym where a Raid is currently active, touch the photo disc. There will be a button which you can then convert your 100 Premier Balls into 1 Master Ball. Only 1 Master Ball can be held at any given time. Can be used on both wild and Raid Pokemon. But for me, that lives in a place with very few gyms and pokestops (I still seem to have more than other people in the suburbs) and with not a lot of people playing because of security issues. Pinsir, Jynx, Tauros, Ditto, Aerodactyl, Sudowoodo, Unown, Wobbuffet, Girafarig, Stantler, Dunsparce, Shucke, Corsola, Mantine, Skarmory and Miltank pretty much fall into the "forever useless" category, but the candy accumulates to sit there to the end of time. I'd trade 10 Stantler candies for a Mareep or Chansey candy for instance. [link] [comments]  | ||
| Niantic, please consider rewarding players for their skill in aiming throws. Posted: 04 Dec 2017 10:32 AM PST Story from today: Ho-oh raid:10 Premier balls earned. First throw: Great, due to adjusting circle. Break out. Second throw: No bonus, due to cold fingers after hour of waiting. Break out. Next 8 throws: 8 Excellent in a row. Break out, break out, break out etc. 98% Ho-oh ran away. I had similar experiences with legendary beasts (6-7 break outs from Excellent throws) when other players were catching two 100% in a row or throwing straight without any bonus with more success than curved throws, complaining that Excelllent bonus seems broken because they catch more with no bonus than with best bonus. We all been there, we all remember that famous Moltres video with escape despite Excellent after Excellent. Yeah I know this is all RNG in the end but IMO this game has enough mechanics unaffected by players. Simple solution: take random Critical catch mechanic which isn't affected by any actions and change it so after 7 Excellent throws in one catching attempt player is awarded with "LUCKY 7" critical catch bonus. It may be after 7 consecutive Excellent throws or 7 throws overall. It's not so easy to land these throws without preparation. Let people feel rewarded for the fact they can aim well. | Potential Bottle Cap system in Pokémon Go Posted: 03 Dec 2017 11:50 PM PST After losing another 98% IV Ho-Oh today and never seeing a 100% in 200+ legendary raids, I got to thinking about how much more I would raid if Niantic were to implement a Bottle Cap reward for completing raid battles. For anyone who doesn't know, a Bottle Cap is an item from the mainline series of Pokémon games which allows you to raise the IV's of a Pokémon once it has reached the maximum level in the game. I imagine this working similarly to TMs (maybe rarer), as a very rare reward for completing a raid battle, and only being usable on a level 40 pokemon. Perhaps raising 1 random IV by 1 point, ie changing a 15/15/14 pokemon to a 15/15/15 one. It would make the game so much more enjoyable, not having quite the level of panic when trying to catch a high IV Pokémon, as you could earn one with a lot of effort. I see this as being a huge benefit to the game, especially for those who may only ever see 1 EX raid in their life (at the rate Niantic are rolling this out, like me, it may be never). As I said earlier, I'd increase my already sizable raiding efforts with something like this. [link] [comments]  | ||
| Posted: 04 Dec 2017 06:15 PM PST Niantic should add rewards to the badges, after completing a badge Tier, you get dust and some coins, this way players would be more motivated to complete their badges ASAP and more activity around. I don't know Gen III that well as I know Gen I and II so I don't know if there would be any new kind of badges associated with Gen III and if there are just add some kind of Stardust, items, coins to it. | Big city and countryside, a big clash Pokémonwise? Posted: 04 Dec 2017 05:11 AM PST Hey guys, it's me again. Marvin. Iam currently on my days off from work at Berlin and visiting my family on the countryside in central part of Germany. I know it's not big news what I will tell you, but I want to give my own state of mind to this. Iam currently level 40, as a lot of players during the event. Day one player and enjoying the game eventhough people sometimes give awkward looks when I tell them I still play the game. In Berlin I have a dozen of gyms next to my apartment where I spent the most time of my life and a strong community so we are able to do a lot of raids. There is no comparison to what I experience here in region Hanover. We do have the same what's app communication but I feel like Niantic completely lost its player base on the countryside as they are treated so unequally. Iam the only guy struggling to take part in a raid but people refuse to come and help. I don't think it's that they simply can't it's more they are frustrated that people in big cities do have such a great advantage. So HoOh keep spawning and go empty since nobody appears at those raids. It's basically only one level 40 mystic player who tries to compete. Gyms hold forever and the spawnrate is so low so it does not make sense to go Pokémon hunting at all, unlike Berlin. I even have time to write this small analysis whereas in Berlin I probably would play outside and hunt Pokémon. Iam still of the opinion there exists a huge gap between playerbase from smaller cities and big cities. As I don't want to criticize without giving a suggestion for improvement I think smaller cities should definitely receive more pokestops and also there should be an incentive for big city players to move out and discover smaller cities too. New round of EX raid passes got sent out to a gym that I have a gold badge and battle every damn day for the past 2 months! Can someone explain to me why I didn't get the raid pass? What did I miss in order not to get the damn thing!!! I've been actively grinding gyms since they've been out and I still haven't received a single EX pass yet; but somehow people who raid once a month are seemingly ably to get multiple EX passes in my town. I feel that a huge part of the what made the handheld games interesting and immersive was coming across all kinds of different trainers from all over the world ranging from children, to ex-militants, to old ninjas. It's disappointing that they haven't elaborated on the customization aspect of this game. I'm tired of playing as an 80 lb Asian kid. Do they have any plans to expand on this?
