There is another cycle I've noticed on this subreddit

Cards Designed By A 5 Year Old

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 06:43 PM PST

My 5 year old son and I have been playing a lot of Hearthstone together. Naturally we've been talking a lot about Kobolds & Catacombs and why new cards are so fun. We watched the reveal stream with Day9 and my son is now obsessed with making his own cards. I thought you might find some of his ideas amusing:

These are 100% his designs (besides help with language) and I must say some of them aren't too bad!

~EDIT~ He's super stoked from all the discussion about his cards (I've read almost all the comments to him) and he wanted to make a video to say thanks:

Kobolds and Catacombs: The Horrifying Truth

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 09:48 AM PST

All this time, everyone treated it like a light hearted joke.

"You no take candle!" we would all hear as we attacked or were aggro'd kobolds in WoW. It was a running gag. They sounded so insistent and pitiful. We laughed. No one stopped to think what made them so attached to their candles.

This Hearthstone expansion changed everything.

Now you arrive to the final challenge of your dungeon run to face off against the Darkness itself. From the outset, countless numbers of powerful, merciless, umbral creatures summoned against you. Your only defense is a set of three candles that literally burn them away. When you run out, you risk being overrun.

Think about it. All along, these kobolds were living in mortal fear of losing their candles, because without it, the Darkness would come. "You no take candle!" they cried, and you didn't hear the terror in their voice. It wasn't a battlecry, it was a plaintive cry for mercy. The flickering light they wore on their heads was their only weapon, without which certain doom awaited.

You took it. You took candle. And laughed about it.

If every minion said what it did like “Kobold Apprentice” does, what would be the funniest?

the voice line "I cast arcane missles!" Gives me a nice chuckle every time I hear it, just because it's so blunt. Makes me wonder what other minions would say.

Would it be insane for an 8/8 Dungeon Run to give a pack? Or like, 50 gold?

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 07:01 PM PST

Just thinking about the time equivalent of winning similar gold's worth just by playing ranked. I'm not sure what the number is but it feels like we need some kind of inherent reward for hitting 8/8. 8/8 isn't even guaranteed especially with some classes being particularly challenging. Maybe there's a way to tie in this difficulty with some actual rewards? I love this mode and would play it all day but it's disappointing that I'm getting nothing for it.

Had a fantastic hand against a Dragon Priest today.

Pirates are too powerful for constructed right now - they really should've been limited to actual weapon users

Posted: 16 Dec 2017 05:05 AM PST

Druid, priest and warlock using pirates due how powerful this package is should've been a red flag on balance. Corridor Creeper release made the problem worst since now if we drop a 5/5 as early as turn 3, you pretty much won. What's the point of a cardgame where we build our decks if the very same 15 neutral cards are being used by EVERY class? This isn't true diversity. It's a mistake being overly used as a result

HAND CRAFTED CARDS (UNFINISHED)

Be carefull what you Wish for

Hey Blizzard, please consider removing The Darkness from the pool of legendary minions when summoned through RNG effects

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 11:04 AM PST

I'm sure many of us have experienced it only a couple times as it's a rare occurance. As it stands currently, a player is able to summon The Darkness through a few RNG mechanics, such as Confessor Paletress's Inspire effect, Sneeds Old Shredder's deathrattle, and even the new Wish card from KnC. There is no way to activate The Darkness without the candle cards so it's a body that can not interact on the board, thus taking up valuable minion space. This creates an anti-fun situation where the player is punished and unable to play around it.

I understand that cards such as The Darkness are meant to dilute the legendary pool and balance out powerful effects, but honestly there is a huge difference between cards that FeelsBadMan when summoned randomly and cards that are literally unplayable. Blizz pls.

Turns out Unstable evolution that costs 1 less is pretty good.

As a F2P player whose main deck is Quest Rogue, this made my day :)

It has been 8 days and still no hotfix for daily quests.

Posted: 15 Dec 2017 03:20 PM PST

Blizzard please... This totally looks like only-40-gold-quests "bug" from one of the previous expansions.

I'm beginning to question if it's intentional at this point.
