MENA Server is protesting against P2W and you should too. Here's why

MENA server is really in a weird situation right now.There are extractable Valk's Cry from the Pearl Costumes.And this is not even the problem here. The real problem here is there are no limit for registering the Pearl items to the marketplace. Since this is really abusable the whole community is enraged now.A player does already have 2.6bn in his bank and its only Mediah patch(1 week since official release.2Weeks since headstart).

And the sad thing is PA promised there will be no Valk's Cry or any p2w concept in the game.That's why many players trusted the company and supported them on their new self-publishing region.

I know this subreddit is usually concerned about EU/NA trends but we need to get ahead of this one together.Since Pearl Abyss self-publishes the Black Desert Online in MENA region they are the shotcallers.And we all know PA and KAKAO contract will be expired soon(rumors and article) and PA is viewing their options as Self-Publish in EU/NA too. We need to stop this trend right now so it won't be you guys next time asking for help.Also the other 2 Regions that published by Pearl Abyss, Taiwan and SEA.

Heya everyone,

In light of the micro-transactions in EA's Battlefront II being recognized by some governments as gambling (the US is in the process of drafting laws as well to recognize this) I'd like to bring up the problem with Black Desert Online (BDO) pet system.

First to explain the pet system as it stands for anyone reading this and who may not know what this is about. You can have different tiers of pets, T1, T2, T3, and T4. You receive higher tier pets by buying and combining the same and/or similar pets together (T1+T1, T2+T2, T1+T2, etc). You can only combine +/- 1 tier with the maximum tier pet being T4. Pets cost $9.00-$11.00 per pet in the cash shop. You currently can have up to 5 pets "out" running around with you.

The purpose of these pets is basically to loot for you and provide you with QoL (Quality of Life) buffs. The looting aspect is essential because one of the best ways (if not the best way) to earn silver (the currency in BDO) and experience is to kill large numbers of mobs quickly and continually (aka grinding). Having pets allow you to loot faster (which allows you to kill more per minute which gives you more exp and money). The buffs that the pet's give are typically additional exp, reduced armor decay, etc which if you have the right buff allows you to stay out longer grinding. As you gain levels and gear it becomes essential to have these pets as you will be able to kill far more than you could possible loot unless you sacrifice large amounts of time to looting (by lvl 57 it would take you longer to loot mobs than it does to kill them).

Here is where I feel that BDO gets it wrong and promotes gambling. Simple math says if you want 5 T1 pets out it will cost between $45-$55. Buying 5 more T1 pets to combine with your original 5 pets will result in a random chance of getting a T2-T3 pet. This means best case scenario you get 5 T3 pets at a cost of $90-$110. So if you want to get the T4 pet at a minimum the cost is $180-$220. The gambling begins after T2 as you are not guaranteed to get a higher tier pet!

So if you have 5 T3 pets and want to get T4 pets then you must spend $90-$110 for a chance at getting a T4 pet, with a decent chance of you still ending up with some T3 pets. A simple google search will result in numerous stories of people spending vast sums of money in an effort to get all T4 pets.

With regulation hopefully coming soon to make gambling in games illegal or at least illegal for players under the age of consent I hope the developers of this great game stop with this despicable gambling practice targeted mostly towards younger people who don't have the knowledge or responsibility to protect themselves and their future from these predatory practices. If not, I hope regulation steps in and fixes it for them.

In addition to posting here, I plan on posting to numerous social media sites as well as sending this directly via email to numerous congressmen to include rep. Chris Lee from Hawaii who is heading up the laws being developed to combat the predatory nature of practices like the pet system here in BDO. If you would like to help, I would recommend you also email rep. Chris Lee and your local congressman/woman to help bring to light this practice and other similar practices.

Pirates Jungle Money in One Hour with 5x Tier 4 Pets

I have not really been at pirates since I turned 61 on my Witch, but recently decided to stop by as I did not have the time to join a Gyfin group this weekend. I did not track my money in every hour, but I did average about the same number of bandanas, coins, and raw silver as the test hour. My accessories did vary as I got several BCE's and one RCE over about 5 hours at pirates. However, I did not get any of these accessories during the test hour.

My stats:

Level 61.19 witch with 224 ap/293 dp with kutum. 5x T4 pets and Master 5 trading. Pirates jungle rotation.

Loot Drops

3,858 red bandanas = $8,198,250

$4,288,990 raw silver

62 silver coins x 39,551 = $2,452,162

62 iron coins x 11,567 = $717,154

151 bronze coins x 19,279 = $2,911,129

Total Silver from bandanas, coins (m5 trading) and Silver = $18,567,685

3x BCR = 562,939 x 3 x .845 = $1,427,050

1xRCR = $493,758 x .845 = $417,225

4 luck armor (69k) = 69kx4x.845 = $233,220

5 luck gloves (51k) = $215,475

4 luck boots (51k) = 215,475

Total Silver from Accessories = $2,508,445

Total Silver Gained = $21,076,130.

I did not get interrupted with pvp. I generally find pvp at jungle is very limited outside of bell channels which I avoid as I am there for money. Note that I did slow down slightly to bid on two items while clearing but I did not stop as I used market maids.

The accessory money is not reliable based on a test hour. Given the common drops of the bandanas, silver, and coins, those drops are a reasonably good indicator. Granted lower tier pets, no master 2 trading will change income. Also, pirates involves a bit of a hike so unless you are doing dozens of hours, the income loss from turn in times can be significant. All calculations are based on my trade level of master 5 trading, but the difference between m2 and m5 is inconsequential. Also, money without T4 pets would be significantly worse (Manshuams is over 15 million an hour and likely a better spot for those with T1 pets and 200+ ap with Kutum).

Finally, I get that the sample size of 1 hour is not hugely helpful, but I used it in trying to figure out if spending time at pirates makes sense for me. As mentioned earlier, the income from accessories and armor drops is not reliable based on one hour but the income from coins, raw silver, and bandanas is relatively reliable given their frequency.

Edit 1: Fixed bandana money as I had multiplied bandanas by 2100 instead of 2125 (85000/40). Changed other numbers to reflect this change.

Edit 2: Accessory values were listed values of accessory at time I checked the values at the marketplace. These accessory prices change significantly, and without maids or just holding them till you go to town you may not be able to sell them effectively (i.e. this makes the money seem a bit higher than it should be as I vendor about half the accessory/armor drops when doing long grind sessions.

Edit 3: Note that Blue Coral Rings actually sell since the patch at over minimum price. Mentioning this as these items were vendor junk, melted junk, or PRI on 0 stacks junk in the past.

Edit 4: A lot of people are focusing on how there are better money options in the game. Undoubtedly, this is not the best money in the game. This post is to share information and not to state that this is the best money in the game.
