| Posted: 29 Dec 2017 01:57 PM PST Born out of a really interesting discussion with a friend. The "3D platformer" genre got its namesake back when 3D gaming was still trying to iron out all its kinks. Platforming's still a focus in these types of games nowadays (Super Mario Odyssey, Yooka-Laylee & A Hat in Time), but my friend argued that they feel more like adventure ones (Zelda & Assassin's Creed, for example), as they have major focuses in exploration and experiencing the environments they have to offer.
