I really feel like the only reason we have seasons is to add urgency to eververse purchases.

More rapid balancing? No. Having the static perks rerolled? No. But hell if you don't buy that spicy ramen emote you'll never see it again.

Destiny Lore Books - public release

Posted: 26 Dec 2017 02:30 AM PST

Hi all,

A while back I posted some images of my detailed, Illustrated grimoire books. They were exceptionally popular with you all and many of you asked for me to release them. At the time I had only printed one volume but now I have finally finished the second volume and am ready to release the digital versions to you.

I present to you Destiny Lore Books!

Two full volumes including all the lore from Destiny 1 each volume includes:

240 pages of lore

Full colour images

Grimoire text and notations

Contents page and chapters

some images can be found here I am yet to get the second volume in print so no pics of that one yet!

*The book of sorrows is not included, it will get its own book.

These books are currently only available as PDF's but I will be working on instructions for printing as well as other digital formats such as eReader.

Here is the link to the website:

www.destinylorebooks.com

I have placed the download links on a handy website I have made as the file sizes for the PDF's are quite large! The website also includes FAQ's and descriptions of the books as well as what to expect next!

It has taken me a good year and a lot of hard work to get these books compiled and what began as a self interest project quickly became a much larger project to share with everyone on the reddit. I hope you all enjoy these books and may they bring the lore to some new Destiny fans.

<3 Cubic Eclipse

please note The website may crash if it gets overloaded, I will endeavor to post backup links on here when i can.

Of course I do not own the rights to the grimoire or some of the artwork so please do not ask me to print off books for you in exchange for money. I am working on a way to allow people to print their own copies of the PDFs.

The worst part of D2 is, to me, how much I defended Bungie going in to things.

Posted: 26 Dec 2017 09:32 AM PST

Long-time lurker, occasional poster, so apologies for any breaches in Reddiquette or whatnot.

I started playing Destiny way back during the D1 Beta, and I immediately fell in love. I saw a game with incredible mechanics and the potential for an epic story on the same level as—or even beyond—Halo's. And... then the game came out and while I still enjoyed things, I was very cognizant of the flaws and how many there were. Through every criticism I defended Destiny and Bungie. "It's a long franchise, guys! They have every opportunity to build on what's here. Just wait! This is gonna be great!"

Flash forward to Fall 2015 and the greatness came. The Taken King revolutionized D1, improving a number of systems and expanding on what we had. It wasn't perfect, sure, but it was a huge step in the right direction and set the tone for the rest of D1's life. But still, we had problems with content. Droughts came and went. "Just you wait, Bungie is going to make sure we have plenty to do. Trust me!"

Rise of Iron and Age of Triumph came along and brought enough new and updated content (respectively) that the last months of D2 were incredibly rewarding and fun. Raid ornaments? Exotic versions of old, incredibly powerful raid weapons? Challenges that took you across your entire adventure thus far? This was the golden age of Destiny. Almost every criticism from the initial release had been addressed. "Look, guys. You were on the fence at first, but if the franchise is this good now, what will a sequel be like? What will Destiny 2 be like when it starts with all this as its base?"

I have never been more wrong. Gone is TTK's quest system, which gave story significance to even simple quests. Gone are free and meaningful updates that brought fun content, even if there were some MTX's involved. Gone is a strike playlist with variability, replayability and fun. Gone is meaningful endgame loot that rewards the challenge players put in to get it. Instead we have half-finished DLC's and more Eververse content than several hundred dollars worth of Silver could ever acquire.

TL;DR: I defended Bungie and Destiny for three years, believing that it could only improve. The hardest part of D2 has been realizing that I was wrong to do that.

Edit: Added a TL;DR and mention of the Darkness Eververse.

In D1, old seasons EV loot went to the Nightfall loot pool. Do this with Dawning loot.

Posted: 26 Dec 2017 05:29 AM PST

There's so much loot in the Dawning loot pool, but it's all behind a paywall. That absurd quantity only make players feel pushed to buy more and more Dawning engrams. All this loot cannot be timed to only the event, make it permanent and put it on other activities.

EDIT: I'll explain more. The EV boxes from D1 Nightfall didn't take the spot of other rewards, sometimes it didn't appear on the rewards screens cause you already got 2 nightfall loot (ahhh ghost nightmare).

To those saying that it's against the point of having seasonal rewards, I got what you think but not everybody was available to play along the event or even had the game. Probably someone won't get enough dust to buy all the set (reasons) and that player shouldn't feel pushed to only buy Dawning engrams. It's also sad we get a lot of loot but 'cause of this it won't be on the game anymore. I guess this game was supposed to gain more loot overtime and not a bit now and then is gone...

The Downfall of Bungie | How Activision destroyed their Destiny

Posted: 26 Dec 2017 07:58 AM PST

Man this hurt to watch, the amazing game Destiny would of been without Activision, The Video

EDIT: Im not trying to take away blame from Bungie, I believe they are equally blamed, if not more, for all the missteps that happened with Destiny. Its just heartbreaking to see all the missteps that the once was one of my favorite game and developer took leading to their game which ended up becoming one of the biggest disappointments imo. At the end of the day I just want them to do better like all of here do, we want to game to become what it deserved to become instead of the shell that it is in right now

Masterworks with higher kill count should provide more cores on dismantling

Posted: 26 Dec 2017 04:17 AM PST

Example, give one extra core for each 1000 kills in PVE or 100 in PVP, to a max 5 cores per dismantle.

Heroic Strikes have slightly better Paradox Amplifier drop rate than Crucible Matches (data & analysis)

Posted: 26 Dec 2017 05:54 AM PST

TL;DR Heroic strikes have a very slightly better Paradox Amplifier drop rate than Crucible matches, per given time. The difference is very small though - play the activity that you prefer.

I logged the Paradox Amplifier drops across 48 Crucible matches and 58 Heroic Strikes. The raw data can be viewed here.

Methodology

I assigned a value of 1 for each Paradox Amplifier and a value of 10 for each Advanced Paradox Amplifier (the blues).

I noted the time that the Crucible match or the strike ended (hour and minutes of day). I did not record the seconds, however, law of averages dictates that this will average / cancel out over a large enough sample size. Because I noted the end time of the match and strike, the duration includes the waiting time in orbit (i.e. lobby) to give a truer indication of the time it takes between drops.

edit: I played all activities solo, with no buffs other than "Well Rested".

Analysis

From 48 Crucible matches, I received 61 Amps (51 greens and 1 blue). This averages out to 1.27 Amps per match. Average duration of the match was 10.67 minutes. This equates to 1.19 Amps per 10 minutes.

From 58 Heroic Strikes, I received 138 Amps (88 greens and 5 blues). This averages out to 2.38 Amps per Strike. Average duration of the strike was 18.92 minutes. This equates to 1.26 Amps per 10 minutes.

I received at least 1 Paradox Amplifier for each Heroic Strike. It seems like a guaranteed drop. However, there were many Crucible matches where I did not get a Paradox Amplifier at all. Because it is possible to get no Paradox Amplifier from a Crucible match, the Crucible drop rate has a higher standard deviation i.e. more risk.

I only received 1 Advanced Paradox Amplifier (blue) from 48 Crucible matches, whereas I received 5 from 58 Heroic Strikes. I would guess that the Advanced Paradox Amplfifier drop rate in Heroic Strikes is about 1 in 10 strikes.

Recommendation

The drop rate of Paradox Amplifier is slightly higher for Heroic Strikes, but the difference is small enough that they can be considered the same.

I personally prefer Heroic Strikes because the Paradox Amplifier is a guaranteed drop. Getting absolutely nothing from 2 consecutive Crucible matches is extremely disheartening. Getting blues, even a green and a blue together (twice) felt great in strikes. There is also a chance that you may join a Heroic Strike at the boss (happened twice in 58 Strikes) which saves a lot of time.

Re-rolling Masterworks should NOT give you the same stat you are trying to roll off.

Posted: 25 Dec 2017 11:07 PM PST

When you re-roll a Masterworks you have the possibility of getting the same stat that you are rolling off. Ideally they would remove the current Masterworks stat from the pool of possible stats on re-roll.

It's not like these Masterworks are easy to come by. Tonight I got two in 5-6 hours and the cores I got from them were basically wasted when I got the same perk on re-roll of my Nameless Midnight.

It feels really disrespectful of my time grinding for them to allow this to happen. I'm leaving the game angry, which is the last thing a game developer should want for their players.

Edit: Wow, never expected so many people would see this and upvote it! Thank you to everyone!

3oC should increase the drop rate of Masterworks

Posted: 26 Dec 2017 05:54 AM PST

With exotics seemingly dropping all the time now, and the fated engram topping us off, the 3oC will become useless to all very soon. This can be fixed by simply adding Masterworks to the buff.

Xur, if you're listening, I'm willing to drop a few thousand shards this weekend for Masterworks editions of 3oC

Sparrow RNG is BS

Posted: 26 Dec 2017 11:25 AM PST

Preface: This post is an offshoot of the Eververse drama, but also a critiscm of a system that was changed in Destiny 2.

This Dawning, on average I've been getting 1 Sparrow a day from the daily engram, and it's really highlighted what I see as a huge flaw in the Sparrow RNG system.

In D1, Sparrows were predictable; there were no variable rolls. Raid Sparrows were in the 150 Speed Archetype, but with thrusters to make up for it, while other sparrows existed in the 160 Speed archetype, etc. In Destiny 2, all Sparrows (available exclusively from the Eververse) have variable rolls for not only perks, but speed itself. That means even if you get a Sparrow from a bright engram, it's not even guaranteed to be the fastest version of itself available.

So why is this important now, when SRL (where the difference in speed actually matters) isn't a thing yet? It's a point of principal. The catalog of Eververse is so large, we shouldn't have to face an extra layer of RNG when receiving a Sparrow drop. If Sparrows were something in-game to be grinded and obtained, then sure make them as RNG as you want. But for bright engrams to give out Sparrow's with varying levels of performance is just ridiculous.

Eververse should not have RNG rolls on sparrows/shells, both from Engrams and from weekly BD rotation

Posted: 26 Dec 2017 09:45 AM PST

It means that even if you get lucky, you don't. Bungie and Activision want you to get your exotic sparrow, see that it improves side-to-side dodging, and then for you to recycle it and buy more engrams or spend your hard-earned bright dust to gamble it again if it's on the weekly rotation.

If you get an exotic sparrow, you shouldn't have to hunt for it again. Period. You should be able to swap out sparrow drives and perks by recycling the components from other sparrows you don't want. There's no reason your sparrow should be locked down, especially seeing as you could alter them in D1. It's greedy and exploitative.

As for ghost shells, they're not as big of an issue (especially if you find an exotic one) but the idea is the same. You get a shell you like the look of, you should be able to swap out its perks.

Imagine if Masterworks worked this way, where if you finally got your masterwork better devil and it had a perk you didn't like so you just scrap it and try again. We would riot. This is something we are expected to pay for on top of the game and there is absolutely zero excuses for it acting this way.

Tell me, what exactly is the point of adding Sparrows to the Faction Rallies when the Sparrows are only 150 Speed? Why exactly would I unequip my 160 Speed Sparrow? The perk on my current Sparrow may be trash, but it's still a 160 Speed Sparrow.

Kinderguardians Guide to Heroic Public Events

Posted: 26 Dec 2017 08:51 AM PST

CABAL EXCAVATION PUBLIC EVENT

Locations

  1. EDZ(Winding Cove)
  2. Nessus(Artifact's Edge)
  3. Io (Lost Oasis, The Rupture)

How to make Heroic

  • When the drill is about 30 percent captured, a flying Thresher will appear. Destroy it (rocket launchers work great) to turn this into a Heroic Public Event. Don't worry if you don't destroy the evil flying machine the first time it appears. It'll retreat and loop back around in a minute or so.

To complete the Heroic portion

GLIMMER EXTRACTION PUBLIC EVENT

Locations

  1. EDZ (Trostland, The Sludge, The Gulch, Firebase Hades)
  2. Nessus (The Tangle, The Cistern, Glade of Echoes)

How to make Heroic

  • To turn this into a Heroic Public Event, you have to ignore them. There's a small machine that appears on the ground near the drill called extractors. You have to destroy this machine at each location before killing all of the Yellow bar Fallen in each wave.

SGA - "if you miss (what we call projectors as they look like old projectors) during the first round, there will be 2 at the second location, same for the third location" - /u/Verachuta

To complete the Heroioc portion

  • You just have to protect the pile of glimmer that appears from the waves of incoming Fallen.

INJECTION RIG PUBLIC EVENT

Locations

  1. EDZ(The Gulch, Sunken Isles)
  2. Nessus(The Cistern)

How to make Heroic

SGA - The burn after a Psion kill can 100% be negated with a healing rift on a warlock.

To complete the Heroic portion

ETHER RESUPPLY PUBLIC EVENT

Locations

  1. EDZ(Outskirts, Firebase Hades)
  2. Nessus(Watcher's Grave, Exodus Black)

How to make Heroic

To complete the Heroic portion

  • The Servitor will turn into bullet sponge and you job is to finish it off.

DISRUPT VEX CONSTRUCTION PUBLIC EVENT (SPIRE INTEGRATION)

Locations

  1. Nessus(The Tangle, Watcher's Grave, Hallows, Glade of Echoes, Exodus Black)
  2. IO(Giant's Scar)

How to make Heroic

  • Activate the beacon by capturing the Vex altars that will appear around the conflux

To complete the Heroic portion

  • Now you'll have to face waves of increasingly difficult Vex and still prevent them from getting to the conflux.

TAKEN BLIGHT PUBLIC EVENT

Locations

  1. EDZ(The Sludge)
  2. IO (Lost Oasis, Giant's Scar)

How to make Heroic

  • During three waves, pillars surrounded by force fields will appear. Walk through the force fields surrounding the pillars. When you exit, you'll have a buff called "Blight Receding." (You can see it on the lower left part of your screen.) Shoot the large Blight glob while the buff is active, which is the only time you can damage it. Repeat the process until you destroy the glob

To complete the Heroic portion

ARSENAL WALKER PUBLIC EVENT

Locations

  1. EDZ(Outskirts, Sunken Isles)
  2. Titan (Siren's Watch, The Rig)

How to make Heroic

To complete the Heroic portion

  • Another walker will drop in and you'll have to destroy both to complete the event.

WITCHES' RITUAL PUBLIC EVENT

Locations

  1. Titan(The Rig)

How to make Heroic

To complete the Heroic portion

  • Destroy the Darkblade Knight

VEX CROSSROADS PUBLIC EVENT - (DLC Required)

Locations

  1. Mercury

How to make Heroic

  • Play through the event like normal, killing the Vex until the percentage hits 100. Once the Vex are dead and the Gatekeepers come out, choose a side and take them down. Grab their charges and place them on either side of the gate. This will turn the man-cannon around and launch you over to an island. Destroy the Keeper of Ages here and slam their charge into the middle of the island.

This is where things change. Instead of returning to the central area, look to the back of the island. There will be a crystal floating in the air. Naturally, you'll want to shoot this until it explodes. The destruction of the crystal will create a platform. Jump on the new platform and look for more crystals in the air. Repeat this process until you reach the top of the island. Once up here, stand on the middle plate to turn the Public Event Heroic.

Take too long in any set of diamonds, and it will disappear and halt your chance of getting the Heroic version - and there is no second attempt on the other island that follows

To complete the Heroic portion

  • The Heroic version then adds Gatekeepers in the final phase, requiring you to get another set of orbs from specific enemies and dunk them from launchers to lower the shield of the boss.

Bungie, I have received 3 Kill Tracker Ghosts & 1 Last City Shell from Eververse this week alone. This is completely unacceptable.

Posted: 25 Dec 2017 07:55 PM PST

The last two I received dropped consecutively within an hour of each other across two separate characters.

This has been an issue in Destiny 2 since Day 1. You are well aware of it. Illuminated Engrams can be purchased with real world currency. These ghost shells are included in the base game and can be obtained outside of Eververse. They have no business being in the Eververse loot pool. And at this point, your willful ignorance of it comes across as blatant theft.

Edit 1: Phrasing. And to be clear, this is not about the loot box controversy. Part of it, to be sure. But this is primarily about the fact that Bungie is perfectly OK with reselling us content we already paid for by including it in the separate, paid loot pool of Eververse.

Edit 2: These are not Eververse items. Eververse items can only be obtained through Eververse and break down into bright dust 100% of the time. These shells do not. Yes, the Kill Tracker Ghost was a pre-order incentive. That absolutely does not excuse it's inclusion in the Eververse loot pool. Regardless, it was made attainable through gameplay to everyone as of 12/05/17. It drops from Crucible Engrams and can be repurchased from Shaxx. The Last City shell is a reward for completing the campaign. It was not a pre-order incentive.

Edit 3: Please, for the love of Destiny, stop saying this is okay because Bungie said so. Even if they did, none of us should be okay with this. I've checked the Destiny 2 Eververse Items Guide page of Bungie.net and found no official explanation for including these items in the Eververse loot pool. But again, even if Bungie gave us an excuse for putting them there, it shouldn't fly with any of us. They could have added them to in-game vendors as opposed to putting them in the already convoluted loot pool that is Eververse. This is exactly the type of thing we've all let Bungie get away with for too long. All of which directly contributes to the miserable state the game is currently in. We all want Destiny 2 to be the best possible game it can be. And for that to happen, things like this can't.

Edit 4: these shells do NOT break down into bright dust when you dismantle them. They are worthless in the Eververse economy. Which is exactly why they should not be in the Eververse loot pool.

Final Edit: Some people are questioning why I would post this. Calling both my honesty, and motives into question. I am not a card carrying member of the hate brigade. I'm a grown adult with an 8 year old daughter and a full time job. Despite that, I'm a manchild that loves the experiences that videogames have the potential to deliver. I love Destiny for all of the enjoyment it's brought me over the last three and a half years. And for all the potential I see in what it could become. I want it to become that game. We all should. I'd rather spend my time playing Destiny than I would playing most other games. I sat down last night to unwind and have fun after a long day of kids and family and holiday insanity. And despite all of the issues with this game, I did enjoy my time playing. But I'll tell you, it completely took the wind out of my sails when both engrams I received from playing for 2-3 hours leveling up both my Titan and Warlock decrypted into these ghosts. All that time I spent literally felt like time that would've been spent doing something that would have at least resulted in me having something to show for it. This is a problem that ties into both Eververse and the core mechanics of the endgame of Destiny. And whether any of you care or not, Bungie's seeming refusal to acknowledge issues like this is only a symptom of the larger problems Destiny faces as a whole - Eververse, Vault Space, Story & Writing, Questionable decision making by the people calling the shots within Bungie. All of these things collectively have a negative impact the entire experience - for each and every one of us. Destiny is dying a slow death. And I do not want that to happen. So I'm doing what I can to make sure that doesn't happen. All of us should.

Happy Holidays, Guardians.

Raid ship, or the biggest missed opportunity in this whole mess

Posted: 26 Dec 2017 08:40 AM PST

Hi all,

I love Destiny and Destiny 2. I enjoy it very much despite its flaws and the whole Eververse mess. I play it regularly with clanmates and enjoy the content that is available.

What I cannot forgive is them omitting the obvious addition of the God's Will, Jarus's ship as an ultra rare drop from the raid.

So, as my first "Bungie pls" silliness, Bungie, please...I want that ship. I want to at least see it. But I'm just a lore nerd and maybe that's all there is to it.

With a flourish, Emperor Calus lifted a hand. "My Star, a gift for you." The theater had begun.

The hangar door opened slowly, and behind it a row of purple banners dropped, one after another. As each banner snapped into place, a Psion fell to hands and knees, head bowed low.

Jarus's shoulder disappeared in the emperor's hand. "Come, let us open your gift." The two walked past the kneeling warriors. "I have named it for you," Calus crooned. "I call it God's Will."

Jarus's chest fluttered. The ship was beautiful. A drum sounded. A Cabal emerged, delicately carrying armor, holding it as if it would break. Piece by piece it was placed on the floor in front of Jarus.

The weight on his shoulder lifted. "This is yours. When you take it, you are mine." Calus left. His procession followed. Only God's Will and Jarus remained.

As A Titan Of The First Pillar, Bungie, Please Give Me Back "Death From Above!"

Posted: 26 Dec 2017 12:48 AM PST

Diving fist first into the middle of my enemies to deliver a heavy blow as if Efrideet herself had hoisted my body above her head into the air and delivered me an arc exploding javelin through a mass driver towards my helpless enemies is the power fantasy I miss the most from D1.

I'll accept it back in the form of an exotic that replaces my melee that detonates regardless of contact with an enemy.

I'll accept it back in the form of an exotic that replaces my super to be a one off a la Celestial Nighthawk with increased damage as trade.

"The light shines brightest in those it consumes."

The "Helm of Inmost Light" is in my opinion the most iconic titan armor in Destiny history after the Helm of Saint-14. And if not the the Helm, then the "Peregrine Greaves."

"Victory from on high."

Either of these would be great to bring back to us titans of the First Pillar. Let us once again make Dredgen Y... I mean Rezyl Azzir proud!

Admittedly these are our iconic looks wearing mostly D1 gear. Man do I miss the old Iron banner sets. And my glorious blue/gold shader. At least I still have the rockin mohawk.
