Mayhem is the first time I had "One more game" syndrome in the Crucible. PLEASE Keep it Bungie. Posted: 29 Dec 2017 04:56 AM PST I'm not sure if the topic needs much introduction, but my concept revolves around the idea of; since there are Legendary Mods, it'd be great if there were Exotic Mods too! I've made an album with some ideas I have that illustrate the idea that I'm trying to convey, such as how this could be implemented, how they can be acquired, and what kind of abilities we could see with them!
How do these mods work? Basically they work exactly the same way that Legendary mods do. Put 'em on a Legendary Weapon, Rare weapon, Uncommon weapon, and it'll turn into an exotic. Same rules apply, though; you cannot equip more than one Exotic weapon. Can you put them on Exotic weapons? That would be a great idea! It could introduce a new way to progress and augment the abilities of underutilized weapons (Graviton Lance, Fighting Lion, etc.)
Which weapons can an exotic mod go into? My idea is that exotic mods can go into any weapon of a specified type. This can be dictated by: * Weapon type (Auto Rifle, Hand Cannon, Sword, etc.) * Weapon slot (Kinetic, Energy, Power) * Manufacturer (Omolon, Veist, SUROS) * Distributor (Vanguard, New Monarchy) In this way, the possibilities are nearly endless and allow a certain amount of freedom for the player by granting them free reign to apply mods to a set pool of weapons without possibly breaking the meta (or at least not breaking it too much).
How do we get these exotic mods? At first I made the recipes for the mods similar to the way we currently gain Legendary mods from Banshee; you get a legendary mod by exchanging rare mods, and so you should get an exotic mod by exchanging legendary mods! So, that's how I made some of them. The other half of the mods that I cooked up have more unique requirements such as requiring Dusklight Shards, or a certain number of weapons on-hand (exchanging SUROS weapons for a SUROS mod, right?), or even completing an exotic quest! Again, the possibilities of these are endless, and I would personally welcome this kind of thing entering the game. Not only would it add some flare to our playstyles, but it'd also give us something to grind toward. Another consideration is how many of an exotic mod could you get per drop? Personally, I think the best way is to gain the mod first, then have it available for purchase from the Collections tab. (A lot of exotic mods listed have insane requirements like 10 legendary Power Munition Loader mods, so yeah, I'm a dick.)
Your mod is more geared toward Hunter/Warlock/Titan classes! Well, I guess if you want the mod then take it. If you think the Rift Manifest mod isn't good for your Titan, then don't take it? If you think the Orpheus Rounds mod would suck on a sniper, then don't put it on a sniper.
Your mods are OP! You're gonna break the game! This thread wasn't supposed to be about balancing the game or anything. Rather, I pulled these effects outta my butt for the sake of showing you guys what mechanic I had in mind. If you think my ability ideas are cool, then good! If you're Bungie HR and think I should be hired for concept design, then even better. This is really just me thinking of different ways to tackle some issues the D2 has right now, and in the same way, show the potential that I think its current systems possess!
Thanks for reading! First ever post on reddit. Please tell me if I did something wrong with how these should be tagged or categorized! Sorry if I broke a rule or something :c Please also point out any formatting errors I made! [link] [comments]

Posted: 29 Dec 2017 07:58 AM PST They were some of the hardest to get, most powerful, and certainly most fun weapons in the game. The long hard grind to get each one was worth it because they were so powerful and so much fun to use as a result. I miss my dark drinker. Recovery time charts with actual numbers - Still the most important stat in PvE Posted: 29 Dec 2017 06:31 AM PST tl;dr: High recovery values can shorten your health regeneration time by up to 33%. From 9 seconds with 0 recovery down to 6 seconds with 10 recovery. Resilience values more than 5 only grant 0.5% more health. In PvE go for a high recovery build instead of wasting stat points for high resilience. Long version: Everyone talks about how recovery is the best gear stat. I asked myself why no one posted the actual numbers, so I analysed Fallout's recovery comparison and determined the different times.
I made this fancy chart to illustrate the differences: 0 to 4 recovery make a difference about ~0.25 seconds each. Strangely this goes down to ~0.15 seconds between 4 to 6 recovery. Between 6 and 10 it varies a little bit, but overall high values give exceptionally much reduction. As a comparison I took the resilience values from u/Draples r/crucibleplaybook post and made another chart.
Overall health goes down from 201 to 186 with 0 resilience instead of 10. That's a difference of only 7.5%. Between 0 and 5 resilience health goes up by 2 points each. That's slows down to 1 health point between 5 and 10 resilience. Google spreadsheet for resilience and recovery Conclusion: Aim for high recovery. Values between 7 and 10 let you waste less time in cover waiting for regeneration. Resilience values more than 5 are a waste in PvE. Disclaimer: This is not a PvP guide. Small changes in resilience can make a huge difference over there, go to r/crucibleplaybook if your interested in PvP stats and recommendations. [D2] Xûr Megathread [2017-12-29] Posted: 29 Dec 2017 09:02 AM PST Agent of the Nine, Xûr Description: Xûr comes and goes freely, his strange curios too valuable to risk. Location: Exotic Gear:
Curios:
What's a Xûr? Xûr, Agent of the Nine is a strange vendor who randomly appears in a Public Sector in each of the four Worlds, depending on planetary alignments and Bungie's whim. Xur sells Exotic equipment and only takes Legendary Shards in exchange for them. TL;DR: He's the Santa Claus of Destiny and every weekend is Christmas. Sometimes he brings you what you want, sometimes he brings you coal. Mostly it's coal. When does Xûr visit? Xûr visits every Friday at 9:00AM UTC and departs at reset. Posted: 29 Dec 2017 01:20 AM PST I can still remember the first time I saw a Guardian standing in Tower 1.0 with Chatterwhite. It was about 8/10 hours after the VoG had been released. God I wanted that shader so badly. And then Glowhoo hit the streets. I wanted that even more, especially when I saw how well it went with Warlock gear. There's none of that in D2. I miss it. I can't tell shaders apart, everything is too gloomy. They were only cosmetic but people wanted them and were prepared to invest so much to get them. I don't think that's the case now. Why can’t we punt dregs out of pikes or psions out of interceptors? Posted: 29 Dec 2017 09:00 AM PST It was a thing in halo and punting that grunt out of a ghost or beating a tank to death was so much fun. Why isn't there something like that in this game? Not salty, just curious and a little bummed Also why are vehicles kinda barren in this game, there is no cool or fun vehicle parts? We get our sparrow, I know but, we get the tanks for one mission really and basically never see them again? [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Dec 2017 10:45 AM PST Just look at the suggestions we see on the front page. Our mod ideas, armor ideas, endgame concepts, WE know what we want in the game but the reality of that matter is most if not all of these suggestions will never be implemented. We come up with the posts full of new, engaging ways to enhance and play the game we love. It is time to realize that in a sense, the way we see this game is not true to what it really is and how it has changed. D1 was about a new game finding its identity, D2 is about monetizing it. Its been a one way trip this whole time. Playing this game will be easier on you if you except that the experience is now and always will be fundamentally different. Posted: 29 Dec 2017 12:41 PM PST Saw this statement in another subreddit and did a google search to find the author. Do the right thing, please. Remove what's not working and replace it with what was. It applies to so many aspects of D2. [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Dec 2017 08:17 PM PST I don't know if this is news to anyone but I did three tests to confirm it in the EDZ where Devrim is, and one on Titan. There are tons of enemies to kill when the fallen and cabal "move against each other" so it was rather easy. Once you gain a certain amount of glimmer (400ish?), the currency stops coming until you refrain from killing anything for a while. If you take a break for a moment, the next glimmer cap is even smaller (mine stopped at 200 after a 20 second rest). In one particular instance, after I stopped gaining glimmer, I must have killed at least 60 enemies who didn't drop any glimmer at all. I was at 6000 glimmer, gained about 280 before the glimmer stopped, and then proceeded to kill enemies for several minutes after that. When I finally stopped and checked my inventory, I was at 6280 glimmer. This may be old news I was unaware of. Either way, it seems like a pointless farming cap that would be near impossible to exploit and has to go. It makes me wonder how much glimmer I've lost out on in strikes and raids where the enemies come constantly and in great numbers. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Dec 2017 04:55 AM PST Skip to the end if you'd prefer to just read the TL;DR. As the title suggests, I've now played D1. D2 was my first game in the franchise, and I enjoyed parts of immensely at first, but that enjoyment turned to disappointment and boredom pretty quickly. D1, though? D1 is AWESOME. It isn't nostalgia, guys. You're not looking back at it with rose-colored glasses. It really is better than D2 in very nearly every way that matters. D2 is an awful game. Please come back to D1. I need more people to play with. You feel much more powerful, but the content remains challenging. The gear looks much cooler, and having played D1, I don't understand why they went so hard for the WoW-factor instead of following the precedent set in D1 and its concept art. In fact, I could swear that even my character's face looks better in D1. The loot is better, and not just by a little bit. Better Devils remains META in D2, and what does it really have going for it? Explosive Rounds. That's all. In D1, it wouldn't be a Legendary; it'd just be a Rare. You find fewer legendary engrams in D1, but the random rolls and amount of perks they get make them infinitely more rewarding than they would be in D2. But that's not all that needs to be said on the subject of loot. Bizarrely, one of the best parts of D1, as someone who is coming from D2, is that I no longer have to be worried about empty chests. No longer am I punished just for playing the game. Beyond this is the fact that nothing in D2 feels rewarding in any way, and any possible character development has been taken behind the woodshed. Cayde could be goofy, but it was clear why he was the Hunter mentor. Now he's just goofy. Same goes for Nolanbot. He could be a bit of a nerd, but he got shit done. Our MC was a badass. They didn't speak often, but when they did, they spoke with purpose. Now they're just inexplicably mute and weirdly meek. I have absolutely no faith in the writers going forward, and I dread the coming DLCs because I know they're going to ruin even more of the awesome lore and characters that were introduced in D1. I really wish they'd just pretend D2 never happened and start over fresh with a D3 that actually honors the groundwork laid by D1. And again, please come back to D1. It's awesome and it needs more people playing it. TL;DR: Just read the damn post. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Dec 2017 12:33 PM PST And I get supreme enjoyment standing in front of my Nova spammer teammates all game. I know people are always going to use an exploit if its there but fuckin seriously. Its almost every match with this. Why do that shit anyway, guys.? One of the only truly loved game modes in D2 and you guys are exploiting the only bad thing for almost no reason. Its not even entertaining. If anything you are just squandering something in this game thats actually fun. K/d doesn't matter at all in this game anyway. Gimme those downvotes, folks. Mercury is the only planet not spinning Posted: 29 Dec 2017 10:00 AM PST Open the Director. Look at destinations. All planets spin, except Mercury. Unplayable. Lol.
Maybe it's because Mercury is blown up? Don't know the physics behind that...
The Traveler doesn't spin either, but that's accurate aside from the blown up parts that should spin around the Traveler. However, why do we select the Traveler to go to the tower? The tower isn't on the Traveler. [link] [comments]
"It needs to be fun before it's pretty." Posted: 28 Dec 2017 11:02 PM PST I was watching this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qfx9eoB-88 about Bungie. At 3:56, one developer said something that I thought was astonishing. "It has to be fun before it's pretty." How about it needs to be fun before it's competitive. It needs to be fun before it's balanced. It needs to be fun-- Easier said than done, of course. However, this is about the mindset, the philosophy, and mission behind what Bungie makes. I'm going to claim Bungie is full of competent, professional, intelligent, creative programmers, artists, and writers. But if their mission isn't to make it fun first, then let the rest next; their talent isn't displayed to what it actually is. Bungie knows how to make a game. The community knows how to play a game. Take a step back, and stop listening to us so much. If the community wants anything, it's to have fun. Every little detail we complain about, or mention is based on the amount of fun we want from the game. If we ask for a scout to be nerfed because a few of us got frustrated that we died from it, doesn't mean the right solution is to just nerf it. This is where you guys look at the game you made because you know it better than we do, and look for ways to make it more FUN. Not balanced, not competitive, not pretty, but just fun. A nice example of this is PUBG helmets. a level 2 helmet person frequently has to fight a level 3 helmet person. Clearly this isn't balanced. The guns they found may not be balanced--and that's OK. It's fun to overcome the odds, and it's fun to work and gain an advantage. It's Rock-paper-scissors. That's my response and mindset right now. There are 1000's of posts now about little tweaks and suggestions, but ultimately have one over arching theme, and it's to make Destiny 2 fun. 1.4M PoE Players Yesterday - Eververse Scenario Posted: 29 Dec 2017 04:14 AM PST So it seems pretty steady at around 1.5M daily players per Destiny Tracker. Let's use those figures. I could imagine that at least half of these daily players are adamant about not spending any real money. Which means, I could imagine the other half spending some. It's possible that many of those numbers don't mind dropping larger amounts, but for now, I'd just like to assume that they all spend $5 (or the equivalent currency). If 750,000 players, from around the world, dropped just $5 in a single month, that would amount to $3,750,000. That's $45M/yr. If that indeed happened at least once per month, I don't see Eververse going anywhere. (Disclaimer: I'm just a guy with limited knowledge about all the stuff you know. Please just use my ignorance in this post for general conversation and expand upon it with specifics you're knowledgeable about) (Edit: Yes, so sorry. I meant PvE. I had just woken and was in the midst of my first coffee while typing this.) [link] [comments]
Destiny 1 Was An Experience We Probably Won’t Have Again. Posted: 28 Dec 2017 05:05 PM PST Am I the only one here who misses the old days of Destiny? Destiny 2 will never have the same experience as Destiny. The player community used to be the best I've ever seen in a game. Crucible used to be awesome! Trials of Osiris was my favorite activity to play in the game when it first came out. ToO was fun & competitive and gave us awesome gear/weapons at the same time. Raids also gave us awesome looking gear/weapons that had really good perks. Now the awesome gear is locked behind Eververse. I'm not mad about the money. I just feel like I didn't accomplish anything when I get a piece of gear from her. I liked the activity specific gear that was unique to the activity being played. Destiny also had a much better endgame experience because we had stuff to grind for. Weapons/gear had random rolls that made an actual difference in functionality. And don't even get me started with the timer on the nightfall now. Please Bungie fix Destiny 2. I want to have a reason to put thousands of hours into D2 like I did with D1. Edit: To be fair, Destiny 2 gets some credit because it just came out a little over 4 months ago and has a better overall gameplay experience than Destiny 1 in December 2014. Removing things like 6v6 crucible and older destinations wasn't the best thing to do. Just imagine being able to visit all of the old destinations including the Dreadnaught, Moon, etc... with all of the Destiny 2 improvements. Bungie, if you haven't caught on by now we're tired of hearing that you're listening. Posted: 28 Dec 2017 12:01 PM PST Put your money where your mouth is and start making the sweeping changes that the community is telling you we want. If you're not going to make a certain change, I want you to give a detailed explanation as to why you won't. No more cherry picking criticism to respond to and base changes off of. There's been countless threads that all discuss valid changes you could (and definitely should) make that would easily make this game much better. I'm sick of this little circle where we catch you doing something without telling us, then you say your sorry and promise to be better only to turn around and do something else. It's like an abusive relationship that I personally am done with. Your community's goodwill has dried up, and you're no longer trusted. I better hear some extremely good news in January. Edit: Yes, Bungie is on break right now. I'm not expecting them to come out with exact solutions by January, but I want them to specifically give a road map for big changes that are needed.
