Ambushed fixing our truck!

I have a question for the people that jsut spent an hour helping me and then shot me when we went our way

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 11:33 AM PST

Why?

Seriously. You three just killed chickens for me. Fed me. Gave loot to me. Bandaged this noob up. Led me all the way up to the place I wanted to be and then just shot me when I got your instructions. Por que?

I'm not mad or anything, but its just weird. I have had this game for the grand total of 5 hours now, and thus far I have starved to death, hypothermia'd to death, been axed to death in a random deserted town by another player, surrendered to and then shot by a player, died from infection. But this one takes the cake.

I was all lost and stuff in a simple coastal town, when, out of nowhere, I heard 3 voices in a police station. "Friendly!" I furiously typed in the direct chat, hoping to make it out alive for once. 3 people, 2 women and 1 guy, stepped out. They welcomed me with open arms, we shared stories of the horrible things people had done to us in previous lives, and I told them they were the first friendlies I had met in the cold and barren Chernaurus.

I told them my plans: I had heard of riches and mansions to loot in the North West, but seeing as I did not have a clue to where I was or did not own a compass, this task was too big for me to handle. The kindness of their hearts told them to do the right thing and show me the way.

No, I said. I merely need to be pointed to the right direction. But they insisted. And so we went, the four of us. After we shared a chicken dinner in a lowly hilltop village, they offered me the greatest gift: a pink rag to put around my arm, so we would become part of the same group.

I was moved.

No one had shown me this kindness in a game before. I was welcomed with open arms. Thusfar I had only heard horrible, frightening stories of what strangers did to eachother in this foreign land. But these people were different. They felt familiar. They felt... Human.

And so, our journey continued. Their voice chat only being interrupted by my furious typing. And after a while, we had reached my destination. When once of the women pointed me in the right direction, my monitor changed colour to black and I was violently pulled out of this fairy tale. The last thing I had heard kept resounding in my ears: the harrowing sound of a gunshot. After that: nothing. I just saw my reflection in my PC monitor. And do you know what I saw? Disgust. Disgust for a man that so blindly had trusted strangers in the apocalypse. Disgust for a man that had not stopped and think of the worst possible outcomes. Guaranteed, I will take this experience with me to the next life. And the next. And the one after that.

There is just one thing that keeps echoing through my mind.

Why?

I guess I will never know

Did devs ever mention them retexturing textures?

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 07:16 PM PST

Are there plans to retexture certain surfaces, objects, or even buildings? It would be something I'd like to see from them after they solve some of their bigger issues because most models and surfaces up close look very dated imo.

Worth returning yet?

I love Dayz, got 600 hours in game. Stopped about 14 months ago due to a number of things, and have recently been enjoying 7DTD and PUBG. Are there any players who've been on Dayz for the last couple of years able to summarise what Dayz has to offer now that it didn't have 18 months ago?

(I realise this might seem a cynical post; it's not meant to be. I played an hour tonight (died to starvation twice) and was undulate what has changed since I was last n Chernarus)

Car situation in DayZ Where they've been found/How they stop working/Where you've personally found them and they work

Just bought the game, questions about looting.

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 02:02 PM PST

I joined one of the top servers, got lucky after a few hours and found the starting loot at the side if the road left by a player (motorcycle helmet, camping bag filled with multiple pistols and ammo and a plate carrier with a holster). I headed inland and found a huge area with a few dozen apartment buildings.

Along the way and even while I was there, every single place had already been looted. All that was left was a few beginner items.

My question is how often does loot reset, and where can I look for loot what many people miss.

Edit: thanks for all of the replies! Turns out the holy grail I thought I had really wasn't that good. Next time I get on I will head to the north west and see what I find!

Any good RP servers without a age minimum?

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 03:11 PM PST

Almost all of the DayZ RP servers I find that are good with a player base that actually exists, they all of a age minimum of around sixteen. I am younger than that and want to join in the Rping. Any good RP servers without a age minimum?

Ive never played day z in my life. The only real zombie survival games ive ever played are 7 Days to Die and Dying Light. Is this game worth playing in basically 2018?

Question on bone health

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 01:19 PM PST

Fairly new Dayz player here so sorry about this. I was going through Berezeno or however it's spelled and a sniper with a Sporter 22 was taking pot-shots at me, one caught me in the ankle. I got away, quickly applied a bandage, and was fine. I realized I had a sprained ankle, so I put on a splint, and had no problem. Later on now, I'm running, and I get a notification that my feet are sore, and I realize I have another sprained ankle, yet I sustained no damage further. I'm certain it's from the gunshot wound but will simple running make it keep happening? Will it stop? Do I need to chill out and lay down for a while and let it heal? Any info would be great. Thanks!

Edit: Just realized my boots were ruined and I forgot to check them, been running around with ruined boots. Could that also effect it?

Is it possible to turn down the resolution?

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 01:33 PM PST

Hi, I just upgraded from the mod in hopes of getting better performance, but sadly It seems that I can't go lower that 1920x1080 fullscreen. I also tried changing the resolution from the config, but it's still pretty high. Is it actually possible to go lower or is the game so bad that it just won't change? Thanks in advance!

Would you continue to play DayZ if the devs announced development had stopped permanently?

Posted: 27 Dec 2017 12:28 PM PST

I would, if you would.
