Smash Summit 5 // Nov. 2nd - 5th // Los Angeles

Beyond the Summit aims to create a "behind the scenes" oriented tournament, inspired by TakeTV's Homestory Cup in StarCraft 2, where the fans can see sides of their favorite players that they don't normally get to see. To achieve this the tournament is held at the BTS House in Los Angeles, where the crew currently lives and works.

 

The two highest placing non-invited players at GameTyrant Expo 2017 and The Big House 7 filled the qualifier slots for this event. In the event of a tie, a Best of 5 set would be played to determine who would qualify.Shroomed qualified with a 5-6th place finish at GameTyrant Expo 2017. Wizzrobe and S2J both finished in 7-8th place at The Big House 7, necessitating a tiebreaker which Wizzrobe won 3-2.

Hey guys, just wanted to open up this month's tier list by talking about our...

Inktober Special!

As mentioned in the September Results thread, this tier list is going to be a bit more unique than your average list. This time around, our tier list image will use art created and submitted by the /r/smashbros community! Just create artwork of any Smash fighter you'd like to (including Miis!) and submit it to have your art featured in the Tier List image.

By the way, this is NOT A COMPETITION, meaning that anybody who submits art will have their art featured! This also means that you will be credited, and your original pieces will be linked in the Inktober Results thread.

In order to submit pieces, please PM me the artwork, with proof that you created it (signing your username to it should do). Alternatively, you can post your art on the sub; just make sure to link my account (/u/mu_II) if you do so!

You DO NOT have to ink your pieces; while it is recommended to do so (because Inktober), you're allowed to submit anything that you have made! This ranges from pencil-on-paper, digital art, 3D Art, carved pumpkins - anything you can think of! Just make sure that if your piece is physical, you get a good image of it (good lighting, little/no blur, no lined paper, etc).

One last thing: the 3 fighter limit that was established for each artist on September's thread? Gone.

39 seconds in the new trailer a sugar with a nitrilegroup molecule (cyanogenic glycoside) can be seen. more specifically Amygdalin.

This is a naturally occurring chemical compound, famous for falsely being promoted as a cancer cure. It is found in many plants, but most notably in the seeds (kernels) of apricot, bitter almonds, apple, peach, and plum.

This is why the molecule is scrolling over the screen when peach is highlighted in the trailer.

I spent too much time in searching this joke up...

Mew2king commentary appreciation thread

After mew2king's commentary today he posted this tweet about commentating. Personally I found that his commentary, while very different from the other commentators, was extremely interesting. The way he talked about the various options and what players should do in each scenario gave a great insight into the way he thinks about the game, and his huge collection of technical knowledge meant that he had a lot to add that none of the other commentators even knew about. I would love to hear more of his commentary on top level matches, and I'm sure there are others who agree.
