Getting the shit end of the stick in skyrim lol

Posted: 03 Nov 2017 08:05 PM PDT

I always find myself treating Whiterun as the main city/hub of the game and never really going to other cities unless I have to.

In my current run I'm trying to force myself to get to know other cities and their people better. I think my brain just really likes an RPG with one main hub city, instead of a bunch of smaller ones.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Survey

Posted: 03 Nov 2017 06:52 PM PDT

Hello all! I have put together a quick survey about your experience with Skyrim, and I hope to put together some really interesting data about this community. It shouldn't take too long, even if you decide to proceed to the more detailed questions. If I get enough responses for the data to be relevant, I will post some of my findings here on 12/01/2017.

How good/evil are your characters?

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 07:01 AM PDT

Just curious as to how moral you play your characters, or if you have several for different levels of morality?

In my case I've got 3 saves I regularly play:

Altmer Warrior mage. Complete good guy, always helping, archmage in COW, didnt do thieves guild quest, steers clear of drastic quests and destroyed the dark brotherhood and vampires in dawngaurd. Is pretty rich and lives comfortably, but always helps others and only kills if necessary/the person is completely evil.Essentially a generic do hooded.

Khajit sneak thief/Assassin. Not entirely bad but not entirely good either. Like a morally ambiguous Robin Hood. He's the guild master, the listener and is happy to do quests considered "evil" for a reason he seems worthy or a profit. Did some deadric quests (like mehrunes razor quest and medeiras beacon) but wouldn't touch stuff like cannibalism etc. Destroyed vampires in dawnguard and won't kill innocents for no reason. Is happy to help others, though usually for a small reward if they can afford it.

Orc duel wielding/two handed warrior. Basically completely evil. Has done all deadric quests, thieves guild and dark brotherhood. Is perfectly okay with killing innocents for no reason, joined the vampires in dawnguard etc. essentially he made every evil decision that's possible in the game.

Sometimes its nice to bounce through enjoying the hills, catching butterflies, watching goats, and slaughtering bears. Just nature loving things.

Im about to flip my shit at Microsoft unless someone can help me fix this

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 07:37 AM PDT

So I bought Skyrim on Xbone via the Microsoft store, been playing it happily for about 2-3 weeks now. Just now I load up the game and it starts acting like I don't have permission to play it. I'm trying to find my receipt for the payment but it doesn't seem to be anywhere. I know I paid $50 for this game, and I'm already annoyed over some bugs that've prevented me being able to complete certain quests, but if this is Microsoft fucking with me I'm ready to grab my pitchfork. Does anyone have any experience with this problem and have a pain free way to handle it, or barring that... a painful way to handle it?

How do you name your characters?

Posted: 03 Nov 2017 05:02 PM PDT

I generally go into detail and even do research to figure out a new characters name. Recently I started a new Breton character. I usually go for the race's real-life counterpart, rather than TES naming convention because it changes too much. So I looked up Breton names, however a rule of thumb for me is no modern names. I have to dig deeper. Since real-life Breton people are a mix of celtic and french I usually side with one or the other. This time I decided to use a Gaulish name. So I'm going way back for this one. Wikipedia had a relatively small list of male names, but I settled on Segomaros. According to wikipedia it means "great power", which is perfect for the Dovahkiin. For the surname I use family names from previous tes games. I decided to go with Maric, making my character a descendant of Claude Maric from Oblivion. So my name is Segomaros Maric, spellsword.

What do you do to figure out names for your characters?

I like to imagine that every time I kill someone with the mace of Molag Bol, he gets a little satisfaction.

Whether you like him or not, Ulfric looks baller as fuck sitting on that throne. A man who moves for no one.
