Minecraft Bi-Weekly Build Challenge #32: Farm Posted: 12 Nov 2017 06:35 AM PST LAST WEEK'S THEME: DUNGEONPlease read Introduction, important build challenge message there!!GoldA really great build that starts off with a good entrance and leads into some very complex but well made compartments inside the mountain. The use of light was great in this build; the redstone torches added a lot since they give off not only little light, but a red light. Another thing I liked was that small village underground, it had a lot of details and also fit with the rest of your build. Finally loved the treasure room. It had a weird shape, which is good but also had good colour. We had the stone for grey, the ores for that vibrant colour and some of nature's green and water's blue. Awesome build! SilverReally liked how the light was used here. It wasn't too dark so it was impossible to see everything but the brightness was down, giving everything a creepier vibe. Another thing that was really well done was how broken down everything was made to be. The use of stone stairs and slabs in the build, giving little indents in the floors and walls helped add to the broken down creepy atmosphere. Also, guillotine was really well made. However, I found that the treasure room kinda lost that vibe. It's really flat and because of that doesn't seem to fit as well with what you established beforehand. Also, one other small criticism is that some of the rooms were far too cramped. But still a great build! BronzeAbsolutely loved the entrance to this build. It was grand, epic, had depth and made good use of the gray colour palette. Also, one thing to notice for other people building with mainly stone, see how he used leaves to add a bit of colour and variety, it really helps. Also, loved the rooms that you had in the build. They were nice and big and open and had loads of elements in them. However, some rooms you didn't light up at all which made it hard for us to judge them because although we could make out some parts of the room, it was still difficult. Also, a tiny bit of light, as seen with first and second place's build, really adds more than total darkness. Still an awesome build though! Honourable mentions IntroductionSo this week here we will be trying to start something a bit different. Recently, we've been seeing some challenges which doesn't have as many entries. We think it's because some are too constraining for what you have to do. So, for the next three or so challenges, we'll be doing two different things. First, the theme and challenge will be really simple and have a lot of room for interpretation. For example, this one is just a farm. You guys decided what you build there and besides maybe one required thing, it will be up to you what you build. This will hopefully encourage more people to participate. Secondly, we're going to try only having one mode. So, hard mode will be gone during this testing phase because as mentioned just before, we don't want to constrain people as much and that's kinda what hard mode was about. Any winners for this challenge will get hard mode level points. Along with my normal comment this week, I'll have another comment for leaving suggestions on how to improve the build challenge. These, we'll take into consideration and they may be implemented just for a short time, for ever or not at all depending on what they are but we are really looking for feedback!! Finally, if you guys don't like any of these changes we're making, just remember that these next couple challenges are only to see what works or doesn't. Please express your opinion in the comment but tell us the reason why!! It doesn't make a difference if you say you don't like it, tell us why so we won't make the same mistake again! Anyway thanks to everyone for supporting these challenges! It wouldn't be the same without you guys!! Inspiration ChallengeFarm Build a farm. You must have one type of crop and a farmhouse. The rest is up to you! Rules

How great would it be if beacons could prevent mob spawns? Posted: 12 Nov 2017 10:48 AM PST Just loke the title says, I had this idea the other day while playing. Sure, you could just light your base up, but not all builds look good covered in torches. I think pacifying the area would make a great secondary effect, adding diversity to the currently small selection, and letting players translate their hard work into a 100% safe haven. What do you guys think? [link] [comments]

Mojang teases new feature, starting with capital "U" Posted: 12 Nov 2017 01:23 PM PST
What do you think it will be? Considering it's a capital noun, it's either going to be a mob, boss, dimension, or a special block or item. [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Nov 2017 12:46 PM PST Creating automatic boss health bars was something that I did in one of my maps back in 1.8, but in 1.9 they changed something that suddenly made it difficult or impossible to do. But luckily, now in 1.13's snapshots, they have introduced some new commands - /execute store and /data get - that lets you get nbt data from any mob and put it into a scoreboard. Then you can get the scoreboard value and use it to update the nbt data of any mob. First summon the "Boss Mob" you want, for example: Then summon a wither to be its boss health bar. Note that a bug exists where if you make a wither have the NoAI tag set to 1, its boss health bar will not appear to go down at all even if you damage it, so it is set to 0. To stop it from flying around and blowing everything up put it in a bedrock box. Next create a scoreboard objective "MobHealth" under the category "dummy" Now, for the fun part - put these two commands one after the other in a repeating command block: Ta-da! How do you make potions have a glow on them whilst in inventory? Posted: 12 Nov 2017 06:31 PM PST I've seen a lot of texture packs with the potions have a glow around them while they are in your inventory. My question is how do you get this, because I really like it! [link] [comments]

If you've got a long term survival world, please post here and share it! Posted: 12 Nov 2017 04:29 PM PST I don't know why but I am always excited when I get to see another persons survival world, it always provides me with so much inspiration to go and play the game some more. Its always interesting to see how other players in the world do things, even mundane things like how you set up your bookshelves around an enchanting table, or the way you set up your starter home. All these slight differences in playstyles fascinate me so much so I invite you to share your world! And to whom it may concern, have a good day [link] [comments]
