Welcome to the November project update for Fallout 4 : The Capital Wasteland. This month has been a very busy one for just about everyone active on the team. Recently we decided to Restart our main exterior world space because of size and scale issues. This was admittedly my fault and no one elses, There is some good coming from this though. Over the last week we have made more progress on the Main Capital Wasteland world space than we have over the past months. Some of this progress is shown below.

This month also saw us begin the switch of our dev tracking tools, plenty of teething problems to come while we all figure it out. While all this is going on SikSikSikki has begun working on a Website for the project. It will include a gallery page, a recruitment page and a page where you can learn about the current team members.

But we are not the only Project that has been making moves this month. Our friends over at Fallout : Cascadia have been hosting a Charity stream for Child's play Seattle over the course of the entire weekend. From time to time members of the Road to Liberty Team have taken over to give them a break.

We also have much more planned for the community in the coming months including a number of Trailers and game play videos.

To stay updated with the project Follow my self @NafNaf_95 or @RoadToLibertyFO on twitter or join our Discord here : https://discord.gg/ZKdVtua

Anyone interested in helping out with the project can grab one of the project members though our Discord or my self here on Imgur, Reddit, Twitter and Discord.

I love when Fallout does Gothic, supernatural and Lovecraftian quests

Posted: 19 Nov 2017 11:59 AM PST

I can't get over how good Point lookout is. The weird inbred hicks worshiping a lovecraftian entity, the weird Gothic feel of the area. Years later i still get chills thinking about the Dunwich building and despite not really liking Fallout 4 or it's quests in general, I absolutely loved the Cabot questline.

Playing FO3 again and they setup FO4’s factions so perfectly.

Posted: 18 Nov 2017 08:14 PM PST

You meet Dr.Zimmer from 'The Institute' trying to find an escaped synth, Victoria Watts finds you if you ask enough questions to get you to help her faction 'The Railroad' hide the synth, and you meet a child Arthur Maxon inside the 'Brotherhood of Steel' citadel. Good job Bethesda on such forward thinking. You can even become a member of the Railroad by telling Zimmer the Synth is dead.

Why does laser guns have recoil?

Posted: 19 Nov 2017 11:40 AM PST

It is emmiting a concentrated ray of light. There's no kinetic energy pulling the gun back(at least not enough to be considered)

[Fallout 1] Spoilers inside - Has anyone else found the storyline underwhelming?

Posted: 19 Nov 2017 11:17 AM PST

When I play RPG-esque games I tend to play them from the originals all the way to the newest games.

So I started with Fallout 1 (now starting FO2) and honestly the main quest seems really shallow to me. I don't know if I have skipped a lot of content, but I managed to finish the game by doing only few quests in total such as:

  • Find the water chip (in Necropolis)
  • Kill everyone in the military base
  • Activate nuke in the Cathedral

I like the idea of the story, but the quests seems so shallow and unfinished.

Am I the only one who feels like this?

Fuck Legion Assassins.

Posted: 18 Nov 2017 08:08 PM PST

I know I'm not the only one; they're OP as fuck and it's so damn frustrating. They make impossible shots with pistols which take out 25% of your health and they're fucking bullet sponges, even when you switch to very easy. I can't wait to blow Caesar's brains out just for the annoyance.

Best possible mods for a more realistic Fallout 4 game

Posted: 19 Nov 2017 08:44 AM PST

So before I even bought FO4 I knew the game wouldn't be very realistic with enemies surviving over 10 .44 caliber shots to the head and one raider being next to immortal when at a high level along with some weapons having extremely low damage when their real world counterparts are much more damaging. After I beat the game and completed as many quests as I could find I've been on a 2 year long search for mods that make FO4 more realistic and are compatible with eachother at the same time. I've been searching for as long as I can remember getting the Institute ending but my searches have always led to nothing. When I get really close it all fails and crumbles. I'd be so thankful if someone can find a pack or mod list of realistic mods adding to the FO4 experience. P.S I hate FO4 and I would play New Vegas but something is bugging out as soon as I get into NV and makes the game crash before I even see the title screen, making it unplayable.

Proportional Power Armor in NV?

Are there any mods for (specifically remnants) power armor that makes the body proportional to the head so you won't look like a bobblehead?

Touble running Fallout 4

Posted: 19 Nov 2017 11:32 AM PST

I get around 45fps and heavy stutter even at the absolute lowest settings at 720p in windowed mode, but I think the game should run a little better.

My specs are the following:

i5 6300HQ, GeForce 960m, 8GB RAM

I have the latest drivers and have tested whether my laptop is using the dedicated graphics (framerate drops even further when using just the integrated card). Any ideas what might be the problem?

Anyone else disappointed nothing was done with Nick after the Memory Den?

Posted: 19 Nov 2017 10:51 AM PST

Once you come out of the memory lounger and speak to Nick only to find out Kellogg is still 'alive' in the form of memories in Nick's head, it is pretty disappointing nothing happens with them and it is not mentioned in the game past that point, not even in a side quest, dialogue, or being expanded on in a DLC.

I thought this could've been a major event in the game and would allow you to communicate with Kellogg in some way or access more of his memories through dialogue. The fact that Kellogg uses Nick as a host to 'live' after death had so much potential to beef up the story. It's a big shame that Bethesda once again missed a golden opportunity for an interesting quest and the whole thing was just awkwardly thrown in without being expanded on in the slightest.

Radio Station Quest Idea

Posted: 19 Nov 2017 05:39 AM PST

While I love the primary radio station in all of the fallout games since 3, I find it's only real limitation is the lack of songs. The dialogue and song choices are excellent, but the lack of song content causes it to become very repetitive rather quickly. I'm not sure if this idea has circulated, but I think it would be cool to have a radio station quest line where you can search the wasteland for old music tapes relevant to the era, and expand the music libarary played by the radio station. Any thought?

Mod Request Fo4: Mortal Provisioners

Posted: 19 Nov 2017 01:16 PM PST

What's the point of gearing up your provisioners, choosing safe-ish routes, or placing safe checkpoints with turrets and bunk houses along their path (Via Conquest or Build Anywhere) if they can't die?

Does anyonre know of a mortal Provisioner mod? Because, I can't find one. Mortal Settlers / Better Settlers specifically doesn't allow Provisioners to be mortal. When you have settlements of 50 or so (high CHA, +10 settlers via Larger Settlements) you don't mind doubling up on trade routes, and I don't mind loosing a few over time.

Midwest vs Eastcoast bos

Posted: 19 Nov 2017 01:02 PM PST

Note this is really long so sorry in advance

Love them or hate them the brotherhood of steel have the largest and in some cases the most powerful presence in the fallout series, but out of all the chapters two have stood out as the most powerful and largest of them all, those would be the mid west chapter who was in fallout tactics and the east coast chapter a nation state on the rise, but what if these two growing nations meet, would their common origins put their differences aside or is war inevitable? Lets set the stage shall we?

So first off lets clear some things up, the mid west bos have a lot of confusion surrounding there canon and even existence so lets establish a few things, we know there's a bos chapter in or near Chicago who "went rogue" according to scribe Rothchild in 3, now the mid west bos formed when a airship tracking the masters army was struck by lightning crashing just outside of Chicago, the survivors then founded a chapter with...different ideology(more on that later), Caesar mentions capturing bos scribes out east, the farthest legion have expanded east seems to be close or on the border of the mid west bos territory at the end of tactics, so we can assume at least one ending is canon(more on that later), and finally captain keils says the brotherhood has had airships in the past but they were all destroyed which as mentioned is how the mid west bos made it to Chicago in the first place. So we can start to form a canon, Bethesda has said only the big events in tactics are canon, so the existence of the mid west bos and we can assume one of the endings based off of legion expansion, so lets go through the endings, SPOILERS FOR TACTICS BY THE WAY

The first ending sees the calculator(the rogue cyborg gone skynet(the terminator one not the fallout one))destroyed and a weakened but recovering bos, in this one they don't have a conquering army of robots, they dont have an overpowered empire that could mop the floor with literally any other faction, in this ending the bos still recruit tribals and pretty much anyone they can, so I'd say it be safe to say after almost a hundred years they would be ready to expand again, this seems like a pretty good candidate but lets see the others first

The second one where you use berklys brain to complete the calculator, in this one the bos actually go full nazi, I know a lot of people accuse the east coast of being nazis but this ending has the bos going full on nazis against mutants, ghouls and basically anything that isn't human, I'm talking labor camps and mutant identification heck they even crucify mutants and any mutant sympathizers and they also have their robot army, since fallout games generally follow the "good" ending as canon I think it's safe to say this one wouldn't fit.

The third ending has the warrior(or a squad mate I think if your feeling like a Sarah ending) using your brain to complete the calculator, but if you basically weren't a decent person throughout the game. So in this one the new player calculator discreetly assassinates the mid west elders, and then takes control of the bos, this leads to a machine empire using humans to expand its conquest, this one might work but the problem is we probably would have seen it in the past 100 or so years it's supposedlys been around, so this will take second place for now.

And lastly the "best" ending, this one is the same as the third except the player character was a good person, this one leads to a bos that is honestly extremely op, they not only have a robot army they can mass produce, they not only accept intelligent Deathclaws, mutants and ghouls, but they also come out gaining more and more ranks quickly, this faction would have the entire North America continent in there steel grip by fallout 4, so despite how cool this faction sounds it simply would be too strong to have made no appearance to fit in current canon

So that leaves us with ending 1 as most likely, this would leave the bos in a decent state by 4 but without being overpowered and dominating literally everyone, but for the sack of it and because it happened during the game, lets assume this bos eventually said "f**k it" and gave mutants ghouls and Deathclaws full "citizenship" or as close as this empire of conquest has to citizens, so they have them to bolster their ranks, not to mention about a 100 years to rebuild and grow, they most likely stay out of Arizona for now due to legion but depending on what happens in new Vegas that could change, lets assume they expanded north or south a bit and from the canceled tactics 2 have a small presence in Florida, So this leaves them in a pretty good state but despite all this manpower and vehicles(they fix up old cars and even tanks by the way sorry for forgetting to mention that)they don't have a means of production, they still rely on broken pre war stuff to fix up and use, but that changes when scouts report back from the east tell of a city of horrors disease and a working steel mill

Now the east coast bos, they receive a lot of hate due to there ideas on synths and teagon going behind maxsons back and telling you to get food by any means necessary(seriously f**k teagon)but in terms of fairness lets assume the bos won their commonwealth campaign, the institute gone, Liberty prime online and weapons hot, the prydwen intact and a fleet of vertibirds ready to go, and possibly a protagonist, and as far as they know synths destroyed or no longer a threat. According to terminals on the prydwen the east coast bos has control of the entire eastern seaboard, they unlike the mid west are able to produce, according to Danae they make t60 power armor and their vb-01 vertibirds, and also their Flying Fortress, so they must have a good amount of resources heck maybe even using that factory at Adams Air Force base, so imagine if they found that working steel mill? Regardless they are a nation on the rise that could rival the ncr in territory and maybe even numbers if you give them enough time, but lets look at their soldiers compared to the mid west ones, each bos soldier that reaches knight is given a suit of freshly made, t60 power armor, which is above even t51(according to what little lore I could on in the mid west bos use a type of power armor that was made for civilian or commercial use, for the rich and maybe police if the need arised, needless to say military power armor would beat civilian armor any day), not every soldier is clad in power armor however but according to the wiki(grain of salt people)it isn't for lack of power armor but because maxson wants flexibility in bos missions and not just brute forcing their way through everything, also just about every bos member uses an energy weapon or big gun like a fat man or mini gun, so they are better equipped but smaller I number, now the recruitment, the mid west bos takes any one who comes of age and is able bodied from the surrounding tribes they have a protection deal with, and I assume any able bodied person who wants to join, so while they have numbers they are just picking up tribals and wastelanders who probably have never held a gun before and according to Beckly the survival rate is about for every 50 members 14 survive the first mission or something(feel free to correct me on that), the east coast bos however do recruit wastelanders but have a sponsor system where if you catch the eye of a paladin in the field you can be sponsored as an initiate, this ensures loyalty and only the best joining, so a bit of an ncr brotherhood going on here, better troops and equipment but outnumbered, difference is maxsons bos are prepared for a war and aren't as reclusive as the west coast, so this bos can produce and recruit but it doesn't have a means to mass produce, that is until going through their records they learn one of Lyons best soldiers reported a working steel mill in what was left of Pittsburgh...

The two factions then make their move to secure it, ill leave what happens next up to you and sorry for it being so long but there was a lot to cover also sorry for any spelling mistakes here but I've been typing for literally and hour now and really don't want to go back and check it

Want to make a phone app over Winter Break, would like to know if idea has been done

Posted: 19 Nov 2017 12:53 PM PST

Briefly, my app would hope to be a real-time Fallout 3 GNR broadcast. That means the radio broadcast will track a wanderer through his/her travels of the wasteland, keeping track of what quests s/hes done, if they're good/evil/neutral, in relative time.

Growing up, I absolutely loved this game, GNR, 3 Dog, and the music. I haven't found a good enough app to replicate the radio in the game, so I want to make it a project, no guarantees I'll finish. I'll be developing this for Android, I've never done anything with android before and could be fun.

According to this video, it took about 2 days to walk diagonally, which gives me a distance to time. I'm estimating a full "play through" will take about 30 days. I'd like to have saves and a sort of "Preferred Karma" even though it'll ultimately be random what s/he does (will have some bias in choices).

My hope is to make a living breathing radio, since no one has done that I think, just a playlist of all the GNR songs. I'm wondering if anyone's done anything similar/the same, so I maybe don't have to spend as much time with this, and would REALLY appreciate any help.

Can't load saves on Fallout 4 for Xbox one.

Posted: 19 Nov 2017 10:51 AM PST

Yesterday was the first time in a while that I got back on Fallout 4, and I couldn't access my mods, so I quit. Today, the mods are back, but I can't load any of my saves. I have many characters that I tried, but none work. Even when I create a new character, save, and exit, I can't load that save. Does anyone else have this problem and/or a fix?

What is the 'best'/most pure modded New Vegas experience?

Posted: 19 Nov 2017 06:38 AM PST

I'll try to be brief: I have played a lot of vanilla Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Fallout 4 (still kinda working on that last one in fact). I've played through Fallout 3 all modded up with the Wanderer's Edition and a few weapons and armor mods for variety, and beaten the hell out of it. Due to issues beyond my control, though, I've never been able to play through a modded New Vegas, until now.

My question is: what mods make for the best, most 'pure' New Vegas experience? I've seen there's a YUP mod that is almost entirely bug fixes, a UP+ mod that goes a bit more in-depth, a Sawyer Ultimate mod (or its more up to date recreation), Project Nevada, a Tale of Two Wastelands...it seems like there are a lot more options than just a Wanderer's Edition.

So what patch, or mod, or collection of mods makes for the best PC experience, as best/close to the actual, original vision of the game?
