Death claw sanctuary. Nope. I choose life. Posted: 18 Nov 2017 03:44 AM PST Choose a life. Choose a quest. Choose a vault. Choose a gang. Choose a fucking big gun. Choose baseball bats, hand grenades, Mentats and power armour.. Choose Psycho and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose walking through the wilds doing fuck all looking for that piece of shit relic, sticking Nuka cola into your mouth. Choose rotting away in the end of it all like a ghoul or pishing yourself when a death claw comes for you, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up NPCs you spawned to help yourself, choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? Killed by death claw [link] [comments] |
Couldn't the Courier achieve immortality by having his brain preserved in The Sink? Posted: 18 Nov 2017 09:04 AM PST Just a random thought I had while doing a roleplay. If the Courier keeps his brain outside in The Sink's tank, couldn't he live forever just like the rest of the Think Tank? His body might decay but Big MT probably have enough tech to handle that problem as well. It would be interesting if this allowed Courier to live well beyond his time into the future. Kid in a fridge theory: Just when you’ve heard enough of this quest. Posted: 18 Nov 2017 11:23 AM PST One of the more absurd quests in Fallout 4 now has a an equally absurd theory. Really though, this isn't really meant to be taken seriously, but this is how I am playing my current play through. TL;DR at the bottom for you instant gratification types. We all know the issues with Kid in a Fridge- the lore implications, the contradictions, the nonsensical elements, and the overall randomness of the quest. What if, however, it could all be explained with one theory: It is all just one big prank. Yep, thats what I said: a prank. Think about it for a second, if the Peabody's are far more recent ghouls who have no other source of entertainment, it gets rid of the lore issues and other complications. He hasn't been incubating in a fridge for a few hundred years, he hops in when he sees someone coming. How else would he have not yet been rescued, seeing as he is just off the road and somehow hears you walking by? You can't be the first person to trod past and you aren't even that loud as you go by either. It's because he slipped into the fridge when he knew you were coming by! Then when he tells you the door is stuck and need to be "shot off"? What prewar child would assume someone passing by has a gun to shoot the door off- unless he's s postwar ghoul with a knowledge of the wasteland and the prevalence of weapons and he's taking you for a fool. He then tries to pull the wool over your eyes by acting like he's never seen the wasteland before by saying "wow everything is all blown up," when in fact, most of the area doesn't look blown up, but rather old and dilapidated. And what about no remarks about his own ghoulish appearance? He isn't surprised to see a physiological change- because he wasn't stuck in a dark fridge for a couple hundred years, he was only in there for a few moments before you walked by. Now the interaction with Bullet is less clear. It is either a real interaction and Billy is powerless to stop two grown armed adults from selling his rear into slavery, or something else. Even though this is less likely, Bullet is in on it and is paid to approach Billy and the prank victim at which point Billy could keep the prank going, letting Bullet know he is in no danger, or somehow communicate to Bullet that Billy is in potential danger. This way Bullet could intervene and protect Billy if the situation demanded it. Lastly, what are the chances that the Peabody's house is not only still standing since the Great War, but that they are all still alive and kicking? Especially being so close to a big gunner hub, the chances of a family surviving the Great War, turning into ghouls, and then having their house survive and still stay in the same place for a couple centuries is astronomical. Despite that improbability, bringing him home causes his parents to almost instantly recognize him although he looks completely different, and they likely have accepted the fact that he died during the Great War over two CENTURIES ago. There's no disbelief or questioning or anything. It's just like, "Oh yeah it's my son who looks totally different and who I have come to accept was dead for a couple hundred years, hey kid, how are ya?" The Peabody's then proceed to "give you all they have" in caps which is nice, but there is a super visible and obvious stash of caps right there in the kitchen. They aren't giving you all they can as much as putting the cherry on top of the prank sundae. Understanding it's a joke means no more arguing about whether ghouls need food or drink. No confusion about whether ghouls age or not. No issues with the fact that Billy jumps out of the fridge spry as a freakin chicken and is running around after being stuck in the fetal position in a metal coffin (which I will have you know, is a legitimate torture technique) for hundreds of years. And to top it all off it works perfectly with what the devs have said since being asked about the quest. In response to all the incredulous questions they more or less said that it was a quest put in there for fun and shouldn't be taken too seriously. You know why it was just for fun and not serious? Because it was a prank. For that reason my last play through I refuse to take him back home. He's stuck running around with me everywhere else until he finally breaks and runs home to tell his parents their prank failed. Which by the way- he never enters buildings with you, preferring to stay outside alone and wait for you. It's because he is an experienced wasteland ghoul who can stick it on his own and not some scared little prewar sissy. TL;DR Kid in a fridge is a prank by the Peabody's on the SS meaning there are no lore issues or retcons [link] [comments] |

Posted: 18 Nov 2017 09:40 AM PST It just hit me... I don't think there's ever any moment in Fallout where we actually see people using slaves, outside of the Slaves in the Legion fort, despise several games having a thriving slave market. I mean, I don't think there's a single instance of slaves working a plantation, or going down a mine, or hell, doing pretty much anything. They just seem to be hanging around the slave market being miserable. I suppose a lot of them are implied to be personal servants or sex slaves and whatnot, but disregarding the fact that I don't remember a whole lot of personal servants around either, I think people in the post-apocalyptic wasteland have bigger concerns in their mind than feeding and sheltering another person whose sole contribution is mild convenience and pleasure in their daily life. Anyone else experiencing extreme Bethesda mod errors today? Posted: 18 Nov 2017 03:04 PM PST Well, I had actually made the plan today to continue my early-on FO4 game, with a handful of quality-of-life mods. Nothing drastic. However, upon the loading screen, and a few chuckles towards the Loaded Loading screen entries, I noticed... nothing. The game never loaded! At first I was sure of a mod error at play here, yet entering the Mods menu entry, I encountered another error. Instead of signing me into Bethesda.net, my screen proudly displayed the BethNet account creation menu, alongside the error; Upon further investigation, I discover I cannot login to Bethesda.net in a browser (Chrome and Firefox Quantum) either! The Bethesda page reports that my username or password do not exist, and using the Forgot Username action, to ensure I haven't made a grave and embarrassing mistake, returns with an announcement that something has gone wrong. My curiosity drove me to the webpage for account creation, where I discover my username is taken (by myself of course) and the fields allow my to enter only two details out of the required many: first and last name. Have any other wanderers, survivors or couriers discovered this misbehavior? Any solutions? Because of the mod account failing to log-in it seems Fallout 4 is hanging and therefore unplayable. Fallout 4: E Pluribus Unum trailer Posted: 17 Nov 2017 04:29 PM PST This is the first teaser trailer for our team's upcoming DLC-sized quest mod, E Pluribus Unum. Tie up some loose ends from Fallout 3, discover what the Lone Wanderer has been up to for the past decade, and tip the balance between two nations on the brink of war. Oh, and someone's been stealing a lot of wastelanders' brains. You should probably look into that. EPU will be released episodically. Chapter One, in which you accompany a familiar face on a salvage mission to the bottom of the ocean, has a release date of December 2017. [link] [comments] |

[Mods]Mark Morgan inspired ambient music mods? Posted: 18 Nov 2017 01:12 PM PST Mark Morgan was the guy who composed the ambient music for Fallout 1 and 2, and it's both very iconic and some of my favorite viedo game music ever. Ion Zur.....is not. In fact I can only think of one Mark Morgan quality track from the last three Fallouts and that was Salvation at Any Cost. It's the vaguely patriotic one in Fallout 3. Is there a Fallout 1 and 2 inspired ambient track mod for any of the last three games. Not resuing Fallout 1 & 2 music but original music in the same ambient style? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Nov 2017 03:35 PM PST They've taken over almost all of the West Coast, and are probably the largest, most organized, developed and civilized faction in the game. What do they do now? If they're planning to make another west coast fallout, I can bet this question is giving some writers out there a hell of a time, so if they're reading let's give them some ideas; what do our favourite bear-loving baja-conquerers do next? Fallout 3 Out Of Bounds Areas Question Posted: 18 Nov 2017 03:04 PM PST Hey guys, I was hoping that some of you could point me in the right place on the maps for some out of bounds areas. I think I can remember 3 places where I was able to get out of bounds and go exploring in the wasteland where I wasn't meant to. I know of the part where you can jump the fence on the Broken Steel expansion with Liberty prime but I'm sure there was a few other areas what I can't remember the names of since it has been quite a few years since I did the OOB. Are there any other large scale mods in the works, like Fallout Cascadia? Posted: 18 Nov 2017 06:05 AM PST I have every now and then seen talks of a group putting together a massive fallout mod/addition that acts somewhat as a DLC. What are the other current projects like this in the works? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Nov 2017 01:33 PM PST So been playing fallout 4 since it came out. But have never really seen an "ending". What happens after the institute is destroyed? I just wander aimlessly and don't really find any more main quests. [link] [comments] |
How would you feel about a Fallout game that just didn't even have a "main plot"? Posted: 18 Nov 2017 11:24 AM PST |
The problem I have with speech checks in Fallout Posted: 17 Nov 2017 07:32 PM PST Don't get me wrong, speech checks are a good idea and I wouldn't want them removed from the game, but they just seem a bit too "easy". In a sense where one moment they're full committed to an idea, and then the next their view totally changes just from a speech check (Dr Li and Paladin Danse for example). It just feels a bit odd to me. An idea would be maybe do a small quest in order to convince them (kinda like the companion quests in the Mass Effect series). [link] [comments] |
Will the season pass ever drop in price? Posted: 18 Nov 2017 10:15 AM PST Really want to play it but it's still $50 everywhere! Even the GOTY edition is only $59 PS4 by the way. [link] [comments] |
NMM deactivating specific mods when restarted Posted: 18 Nov 2017 09:45 AM PST Also, those same mods just aren't working. Specifically the full dialogue interface one. my other mods all work, but this specific one turns itself off whenever I restart NMM, and it doesn't work in game even though NMM says it is activated. All my other mods work. This started when I moved fallout to my SSD. I tweaked my .ini files, and I have all DLC's installed. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Why did Obsidian choose to exclude the Desert Eagle from New Vegas? Posted: 17 Nov 2017 06:37 PM PST As far as I'm aware, it saw use in 1, 2, and Tactics. So, why not New Vegas? I could see why you might not see it over in DC or Boston, but in the same location as it was before? [link] [comments] |
That terrible Fallout 4 intro cutscene Posted: 18 Nov 2017 03:10 PM PST The thing that really bothered me about fallout 4 is the continual lore breaks and RETCONs that this installment shoved down my throat. Out of all of the RETCONs however, i was really annoyed by the intro cutscene, the one you get just before character creation. Not only is this cutscene completely poisonous to the lore and story this amazing franchise has crafted, but it is also illogical and i'm about to break it down for you.
So Nate says in the intro: "my great-great grandfather, serving in the army, wondered when he would get to go home to his wife and the son he'd never see." Okay so he died in combat, since he never saw his son. But then: "He got his wish when the US ended WW2 by dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki" So he got his wish? So he did see his son? So the "son he'd never see" was a false statement? That was a minor offense but here is what also annoyed me.
When we see Nate's great-great grandmother, next to her we can see a bottle of Nuka-Cola... in 1945... 99 years before its creation... Bloody hell Bethesda. The footage in Anchorage shows a soldier in T-60 power armour. But T-60 was never deployed in Anchorage, only in Boston. Soldier Nate holding a photo of his wife, Nora. A character whose appearance, when altered, would deem this scene completely useless to anything. As the photo isnt actually your wife's face. Same scene. We also see Nate walk alongside a T-60 suit which, again, was never deployed outside of Boston. I'm sure there are more but these are the ones i noticed. [link] [comments] |
