It is what it is, when I was 15 (18 soon) I made out with and let a Japanese exchange student grab my boob in a exchange for him to mod my Skyrim, i don't know if should I feel ashamed of myself?

Is leveling up even worth it? I did some testing.

Posted: 06 Aug 2017 06:58 AM PDT

I did some short testing of destruction, one-handed, light armor and block (I didn't include the crafting skills), adept difficulty - here are the results:

DESTRUCTION: KILL TROLL WITH FIREBOLTS

  • skill lvl 20:
    8 firebolts

  • skill lvl 100:
    8 firebolts

  • perk: augmented flames (50% more damage)
    5 firebolts

ONE-HANDED: KILL BEAR WITH IRON SWORD

  • skill lvl 15:
    17 hits

  • skill lvl 100:
    13 hits

  • perk: armsman (100% more damage):
    7 hits

  • perk: bladesman (20% critical chance):
    6 hits (1 critical occurred)
    6 hits (2 criticals)
    7 hits (1 critical)
    7 hits (0 criticals)

  • perk: critical charge (chance of double critical)
    6 sprinting hits (1 critical)

LIGHT ARMOR: DEFENCE AGAINST BEAR

  • wearing no armor
    skill lvl 15
    5 hits to die

  • wearing imperial armor
    skill lvl 15
    chest+feet
    6 hits

  • wearing imperial armor:
    skill lvl 100:
    chest+feet:
    5 hits

  • perk: agile defender (100% more defence)
    4 hits

  • perk: custom fit (+25%, wearing head chest hands feet)
    6 hits

  • perk: matching set (+25%)
    7 hits

  • perk: deft movement (10% chance to avoid all damage):
    9 hits (1 missed)

BLOCK: DEFENCE AGAINST BEAR:
hide shield
no armor

  • lvl 15:
    4 hits

  • lvl 100:
    4 hits

  • perk: shield wall (blocking 40% more effective)
    6 hits

So is that all you get for using a skill for hundreds of hours? Apart from a few cool perks, this is an illusion of progress. They could've as well created an unleveled world. At least it would be static (no cool item would start to appear once you've reach a high PC level) and more realistic (cool skill abilities could be taught by a trainer, for example).

[Spoilers] Gotta say I really love the epilogue

Posted: 06 Aug 2017 12:55 AM PDT

Just being atop the Throat of the World, surrounded by a horde of dragons who all take off individually and flying into the distance. Then Paarthurnax and Odahviing make a grand speech as dragons are roaring all around you. Got goosebumps the first time I saw it.

Skyrim remastered on console, or how I learnt to stop worrying and love the mods.

Posted: 06 Aug 2017 12:08 AM PDT

As my wife is currently watching Twin Peaks on my Xbox one I have been banished from the living room. So I thought I'd pull out the old 360 and play some Oldrim as I originally played it. It should be fun to see the differences now that I've been playing the remaster for so long.

Obviously, the act of running Skyrim through Fallout 4's engine made it look incredible next to Oldrim and I knew that was coming (I was slightly underprepared for how flat the lighting is in the original), but what I'd forgotten was how much I had modded the game to make it suit me. Just little things like Lampposts of Skyrim, or better bows, tweaks to make the world more immersive or just closer to how I always thought it looked back in Oldrim. And that's not even mentioning all the graphical upgrades on top of what comes with the remaster anyway.

So in short, and PC players have always known this, it's incredible to be able to mood the game to your liking. Whether you're a Thomas the Tank dragon type, or a full on lore person you can bend the game to your will. Particularly in a huge open world like this that is simply awesome.
