Mask of Madness on Spirit Breaker? Workable or stupid?

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 07:39 AM PDT

I play mostly a roaming 4 position when I can, mostly Tusk, Riki, and SpaceCow.

I usually play pretty standard builds for all of them, but have been experimenting with Bara the last week, usually opening with:

  • OOV
  • tangoes
  • Obs ward
  • Salve
  • GG branch

Then I usually go Brown Boots > Wand and start experimenting here, sometimes straight to treads, sometimes Urn before treads, and then some other slightly bigger early powerspike item like Echo Sabre, HotD, or Medallion > Solar Crest, Drums, or occasionally even Vlads.

So my question is pretty much in the title, I pretty much always finish my treads first, is it worth it to try MoM as my 2nd/3rd item? Or because of his low BAT does the AS boost not really help that much and better to stick with an aura item?

Lucifer, the Doom 7.06 support questions thread

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 12:55 PM PDT

Hey guys, I am a 2K MMR player and I want to get better at doom. I feel Doom is not very strong this meta and I try to pick him as a support, typically position 4.

The skill build I tend to go is maxing W by level 7, then Q, with a value point in E. Ulti when ever possible.

Talent wise:

level 10 I go +275 HP over +80 devour gold. I figure do that becasue I want to be fighting and becasue I am a support I benefit more from that than the gold.

level 15 I usually go +25 movement speed over +15 scorched earth becasue I think that improving scorched earth is geared towards tanking while the movement speed can improve my position for a better ult.

level 20: I feel is a toss up and not sure what I should go to. Getting a rock golem ancient can improve the entire teams HP but the doom improvement is also good.

level 25: I typically do not make it to level 25 so I am not sure what to do here.

Items:

I try to itemize for the game blink if I can be aggressive, grieves/euls to purge silences and help the team, atos/euls to break linkens.

Is this viable? Not sure. What do you guys believe is the proper way to play Doom as well I am open to any suggestions.

Here is my dotabuff: https://www.dotabuff.com/players/83943754/matches?hero=doom feel free to give me constructive criticism I'll listen to any critiques.

Aghs on Axe post 706

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 01:50 AM PDT

Anyone tried it since the rework? Feel like this hero has too many core items to ever get this but maybe after boots blink bm crimson?

reminder: Causes Battle Hunger to reduce enemy total damage output by 30%. Applies Battle Hunger on enemy heroes within a 700 AoE after a successful Culling Blade.

spectre skill+item build

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 01:06 AM PDT

watched lightofheaven on spectre earlier vs magnus offlane. he maxed dagger (3-1-1-1), got urn and went for radiance. think his team got raxed at 20 mins and throned by 25. why do people max slow over desolate on spectre early on? i always max desolate (2-4-0-1) and if they got strong early burst then sometimes 2-4-2-1 here is why:

1) levels the odds in your favor trading hits with offlane. people often say spectre has weak laning presence but with this skill build spectre feels like more of a complete laner.

2) your haunt illusions will hit harder the first few cds. sometimes you may not even have to relocate to net an assist/kill

3) orb of venom. most early ganks you will haunt and if you relocate, will be on top of the enemy hero. the gap will already be closed and the 12% orb slow can be applied without needing to waste mana on what can also be used as an escape. plus orb can break blinks pre radiance (or in the absence thereof).

4) even if spectre had the mana to sustain spell spam in lane, the slow doesn't even nuke for much. nor does casting it mean the offlaner will run away from the creep wave because lvl 1 desolate autos aren't threatening. a smart offlaner would stand their ground within the allied radius but if you got a babysit, for how long? not to mention you're going to get more autos in onto the offlaner than daggers in lane anyway.

5) leveling slow also costs more mana and spectre has mana issues to address.

as for item builds, been privy to radiance in the past and often get an orb of venom after phase boots but i also like to replace radiance with a maelstrom and eventually build into mjollnir to chain lightning and creep skip.

however, lately i have been up against teams with strong early-mid game so ive been a fan of mask of madness/aquila combo to go toe-to-toe. the first talent gives you +5 armour to offset the -5 if the situation calls. it's effective, cheap and thus leaves more room open for itemization. without pooling gold for radiance you can have the option to come out with a bkb just past the 20 min mark (when you'd usually have boots+radiance just completed) to teamfight/farm in lanes somewhat safely.

with the increased attack speed mom gives you a much needed power spike at the 10 min mark (when ideally you'd have phase/aquila/mom/orb). ive heard of people getting urn and drums for early presence spectre but i feel like it's less effective ever since mom got buffed and urn reworked. besides, if i wanted early health i'd just get a point booster to build into skadi late or vanguard.

Is anyone else like me skipping leveling ultimate at level 6 on core heros?

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 06:27 AM PDT

I realise lately that I'm opting to level other skills at level 6 when playing a number of core hero simply because they gain levels fast (especially now denying creeps give xp) and getting ultimate this early into the game seems like a waste.

Some examples are chaos knight, medusa, OD, tinker (before BoT), venomancer (if i hit level 6 pre-8 minutes), Skywrath mage, morphling, naga, silencer etc

I'm wondering if anyone else are following this trend as me.

Solar Crest Jug?

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 08:26 PM PDT

I just came up with this and it seems like it could be really good. The mana and physical resistance could be really useful, especially considering that he already has a way to protect from magical damage. And it seems like it would work really well with his ult, since its physical damge, and he doesnt need armor or evasion while ulting. One reason desolator isnt good on jug is because it doesnt work with his ult, since often you wont get the chance to attack people during your until after the physical damage from the ult has hit, but with solar crest it will already be applied, if you're just ulting one target. Could this be viable and has anyone seen it before?

General draft question.

Posted: 27 Jul 2017 11:22 PM PDT

Looking for some analysis on this draft. I understand it's strengths, but what would its main weaknesses be in terms of timings or general hero counters. This is purely hypothetical, just super curious. Try to assume that the entire game is played by players of exactly the same skill level, and that they can play their respective heroes to their somewhat most potential (not perfect, but above average).

Carry Juggernaut, Mid Shadow Fiend, Offlane Clockwerk, Roaming Earth Spirit, and Support Crystal Maiden.
