True Dota 2 - PSA: If you are playing position 1 carry, don't buy a fucking quelling blade at fountain.

Get a fucking salve you greedy piece of shit. You need the regen to be able to sustain yourself in lane while your supports are pulling and warding and grabbing runes and ganking and being useful to the other parts of the map.

Edit: To be clear, you can get yourself a quelling blade, it's a cheap and good item, go for it. But it's available at the side shop so you can get it there instead, now you have a quelling blade AND a salve, and you don't have to use the courier to make it happen.

What is the point of pooling tango in pub games?

Posted: 29 Jul 2017 12:24 AM PDT

I was wondering why do people feel the need to be pooled/pool tango in pub game (talking 3k5-4k5 range)?

A quick comparison of null talisman + two pooled tango + 2 iron branch (option A). And null talisman + 4 tango (option B) gives the following:

  • A is less expensive for the mid player (25 less gold) but more expensive for the support player (62.5 gold lost).
  • Not counting eventual dewards, both provides the same amount of regen (16s*4 or 32s *2).
  • From what I've seen, the first iron branch is often eaten during the first wave, hence the stat benefit for option A at the beginning of the game is 1 iron branch.
  • If you're crushing your lane, you can't do anything from the shared tango, whereas you can sell back bought tango. On the other hand, if you have one iron branch left, you can use it for magic wand/headress/whatever. So both options seems equals in that regard.

From my point of view, I'm not sure that removing a tenth of your support starting gold just for the sake of 1 damage and 25 gold on the mid laner is really worth it. Am I missing some other things that gives option A more value?

Suggestion/Concept - Neutral Creep Ability Changes

Posted: 29 Jul 2017 02:31 PM PDT

Hi folks. I'm a Chen spammer, currently #28th on opendota current season rankings.

I love playing this hero, but there's many creeps I ignore or rarely use (or general improvements for used ones) and I had a few suggestions to make them useful for Chen, Doom, Enchantress and any others out there. I was wondering if any of these could work ingame

Vhoul Assassin

New Bonus Passive: Ballistic Aura

Grants +80 Attack Range for Ranged Units/Heroes in a 900 radius (Vhoul Assassin attack range reduced by 80 to balance out).

Ghost

Altered Ability: Frost Attack

Lower the movement/attack speed reduction to -12%/-12, make the effects pierce spell immunity.

Centaur Conqueror

New Bonus Ability: Centaur Swift

Centaur gains Phased Movement and increases his movement speed by 30, lasts for 3 seconds. 0 Mana Cost, 16s cooldown. A.I does not use this ability.

Hill Troll Priest

Altered Ability: Heal

Increased the heal from 15 to 20. Heal restores 40 health instead of 20 health to non-hero units. Troll Camp has lower health to balance out.

Satyr Mindstealer

Altered Ability: Mana Burn

Lower the cooldown from 18 seconds to 11 seconds.

Mud Golem

Altered Ability: Shard Split

Shard Split in addition to its normal effects is now an active ability. Activating Shard Split removes 10% maximum health as lethal damage but gains a stackable +12 Damage, lasting 20 seconds. If killed, this counts as a denied death. 0 Mana Cost, 4s CD. A.I Mud Golems do not use this ability. This ability does trigger magic stick. 1 second casting time.

In drafting normal ranked games, when should carry and mid heroes be picked as to minimize the chance of counterpicks?

Title. In my MMR bracket (3.4) it can vary wildly between Sup / Sup / Roamer / Mid / Carry to something as bold as a second-pick Voker.

Thoughts on the current state of Blade Mail?

Posted: 29 Jul 2017 12:45 PM PDT

Been seeing it picked up more and more in my low-2k games. The stats it gives are very cost-efficient, and the active can have very high impact in fights. Is it in need of any sort of changes? How relevant is it in actual professional play?

I'd had a thought of if they were to nerf it, it could be changed to not reflect damage from AoE unchanneled abilities (ex how it already interacts with Techies mines, but for abilities such as Batriders Firefly or Alchemists Acid Spray). Thoughts on this?

Thanks.

Countering lineups like these

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 11:46 PM PDT

I was in a game where I played as Winter Wyvern with one of the most difficult lineups I've ever played against.

Here's the match https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3342689064

I noticed that myself, Lich, Puck and Legion Commander did very poor damage against the enemy. Doom and Spectre had really high armor and a considerable amount of HP. Tinker was also super annoying at split pushing and it was almost impossible to catch him. Doom's ult also screwed us over super hard and we had to retreat immediately every time it was used.

My questions are 1) What heroes would've been much better at dealing with those heroes (Doom, Spectre, Tinker in the same game) and what playstyle should be adopted? Also were my items the right choice? Should I have gone Solar Crest for better usage with my ultimate also considering that the enemies had loads of armor?

How can I make radiance Naga work this patch?

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 11:43 PM PDT

In what game conditions would a radiance Naga thrive in this current patch anyway?

Naga is one of my favorite heroes to play, but I can never spot a good opportunity to justify the pick.
