A year ago today, New Yorkers stampeded Central Park for Vaporeon.

I wish we were all still this excited about the game. In many ways I had hoped raids would bring back a less unruly yet just as passionate love for the game. Still, I appreciate all the game has done in the past even if it won't ever be the same again.

[Screenshot] Just hatched a 100% IV Ash Hat Pichu

Insane.

Would this be the rarest occurrence of getting a specific perfect pokemon so far? (once the anniversary event is over)

Realizing how insanely lucky this truly was since shiny 100% magikarp can still be obtained and the hatching requirement of the hat pichu makes it basically spoofer-proof.

Can we get quality settings?

Posted: 15 Jul 2017 04:46 AM PDT

Why do we have to run the game at max settings? I'm assuming it's 1080p, I have a Nexus 6p and it's not an issue for me, but why not have the ability to run the game at like 720p so that it uses less battery, gets less hot and lags less for worse phones? I would 100% pay for a skin pack that makes the game have the same graphics as like Emerald or Diamond and pearl. That would be awesome.

[Screenshot] [Idea] In-Game Raid Coordination Concept

Posted: 15 Jul 2017 04:48 AM PDT

I originally posted this in another thread as a quick thought, but fleshed it out abit here:

So off in the distance you can see a gym raid that you're interested in, but you aren't in range of yet and it might be several minutes until you reach it. By clicking on the gym, it presents you with an "I'll be there!" button. Clicking that button increments a status for that gym which reads something like "8 trainers are on their way!".

When you physically arrive and click the gym, there's a "Prepare for Battle" button. This decrements the "X Trainers are on their way" (If you previously clicked the "I'll be there" button) and increments another tally status to something like "6 trainers are ready to battle!". This tally is also visible to people not physically there yet when they click on the gym (pic below).

At this point no raid pass has been used. You can see wh'o's arrived and the number of people planning on arriving. The people waiting then have to majority vote to begin. When they have, only then is the raid pass used.

What are some really underrated Pokémon that would still hold up pretty well in battles?

Posted: 15 Jul 2017 01:50 PM PDT

Apart from the usual Tyranitar, Machamp, Dragonite, Charizard, Lapras, Gyarados etccc

What are some Pokémon that are very powerful, but still get ignored by most of the players somehow?

For example, I heard that Golem and Aerodactyl are pretty good...

Any suggestions??

Celebi to be released soon based on Unown in promo material?

Posted: 15 Jul 2017 03:47 PM PDT

8/6 https://twitter.com/PokemonGoApp/status/872755670663254016 - C - Far right, center.

12/7 - https://twitter.com/PokemonGoApp/status/885122484529451008 - E - Far right, top

I think that Niantic plan on spelling out CELEBI. May be a bit of a stretch but the Unown seem a bit oddly placed, almost like their trying to be hidden.

[Complaint] Is it just me, or has the rate of potions coming from Pokestops sharply decreased ever since raids came out?

Posted: 15 Jul 2017 09:40 AM PDT

It used to be that I got annoyed when I got potions from a Pokestops because I had more than I knew what to do with. Now, I'm desperate to find potions to heal my dozens of weakened Pokemon so I can keep participating in raids.

[Discussion] People making fun of this game and Pokemon as a whole...

Posted: 15 Jul 2017 08:28 AM PDT

I just thought I'd say that I just heard my younger brother and his friends make fun of me for going on Pokemon GO or enjoying the franchise for the 100th time and it is seriously making me annoyed... I've heard people at school making fun of it, being annoying and feeling like they HAVE to comment that "pokemon s*cks" or "pokemon's for kids/is a kids game". Well, I've been overweight my whole life and just thought I'd say since the release, I've been losing much more weight, walking much more often, etc. As for the main series, I've had aspergers for my whole life and since playing online, I've made a load of new friends as well as discovered a whole community. And people around the world are making a living competing against each other in tournaments (e.g. VGC), against each other in battle spot or wifi battles. So I seriously don't understand how people can make fun of Pokemon. Also, I know this may be a bit overdoing it but if anyone makes fun of pokemon, I'll never become a friend and will likely stay as far away from them as possible, unless they have a realisation about one of the biggest series in the world. Has anyone else experienced something like this? (being made fun of, bullied, etc.)

I'm really discouraged and just wanted to share with y'all

Posted: 15 Jul 2017 07:17 PM PDT

As a solo Pokemon Go player, gyms have been difficult to hold. There's no way to communicate with strangers through the app and team up to take them down.

With raids though, I was excited to meet new people all gathered around a scheduled raid.

Today I went to a raid that I could not solo so I decided to sit and wait for people to come. 3 different groups of people came. Window down, I drove up to all 3 of them as they came and waved my phone to let them know I'm here to battle with them.

All 3 saw me, 3 ignored me and created private raid groups. From what I can tell all 3 of them collected the raid boss and promptly left. After an hour I was left in a parking lot defeated by the boss and alone.

Honestly, tonight sucked. At first I enjoyed meeting new people through the game but lately everyone I've met has not been welcoming or helpful for raids. It's not the games fault, just my city's culture. I'm just really disappointed. I hope others are having better luck.

Edit: Thank you all for your kind words! I definitely feel more encouraged and I'm sure I'll have better luck next time. Thanks guys!

[Complaint] Pokemon Go should run on a synchronized (server) clock.

Posted: 15 Jul 2017 01:02 PM PDT

Been playing for a year or so and starting to feel annoyed that pretty much every other game out there has the clients synced on a server time whereas Pokemon Go still operates on the client's phone settings to determine what time it is. My device, for whatever reason is 20 minutes ahead if I opt to leave time settings automatic so I have to go through it manually. In addition, Gym battles that can be joined in should be synced with other players as well. Ideally, I feel like the problems detract from the game for me, but not sure everyone else..

  • Timers for Lucky Eggs and Incense do not start off at 30:00, sometimes if my clock is way off it starts at 29:51.
  • Pokemon casting charged moves in a gym will do so per server time, but notifications of them casting are on client clock time (sometimes 10 seconds after the fact).
  • While Gym battles are 100 seconds, I've gotten some as low as 85 seconds.
  • While not directly related to server time, when people join in the game does not properly sync up the players to the gyms. I've gone in, done no damage but come out with a fainted Pokemon. I hate to suggest pausing the game when people join, but that's how we did it in the 90s and it's generally worked very well.

While not fully related either, I think Gym and Raid battles should be an actual 100 and 180 seconds respectively, not 95 and 174.
