Make card flavor text available to view on mobile please

As someone who almost always plays on mobile, this feature would be really nice, especially with all the upcoming cards from the new expansion.

Knights Of The Frozen Throne Card Reveal: Howling Commander

Just you wait until I have 10 mana! - Real Life Hearthstone Cards

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 08:32 AM PDT

Made some real life Hearthstone cards, the four Old Gods:

http://imgur.com/a/g2E8h

Roughly 10x6cm and hard as fuck because they're basically cardboard inside. Hopefully pulled off the 3D-look.

They're all varying a bit,
Yogg was the first, doesn't have as much deatils on the front

N'Zoth was second and honestly my favourite. That one tentacle looks like he's scratching his head, though.

C'Thun third, nice and easy. Pretty happy with the result

Y'Shaarj last, went for something different and put the layers of his portrait between transparent plastic. Looks dope.

Edit: Thanks for the great response. Unfortunately I won't be selling these, especially for copyright reasons. But here's a pdf with the prints, if you want.

Can some quests rotate out with every expansion?

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 02:48 AM PDT

Blizzard adds quest(s) most expansions, however, they rarely rotate out old quests.

This also cause us to receive more low value quests.

Personally, I have not gotten a 80 gold quest or 100 gold quest in 1 month or more.

For example: Inspiring(Use your hero power 30 times) when the inspire minions rotate out.

OR

Play 15 Demons when the Warlock class rotated out during Journey to Ungoro.

Sarcasm in Hearthstone: emotes

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 06:56 AM PDT

Hello Hearthstone players!

I'm a Hearthstone player and a Psychology student at Middlesex University, London. Part of my dissertation will be investigating characteristics of Hearthstone players, some of which include personality traits and identification and intensity of sarcasm (or sometimes negatively seen as BM) in the emotes.

Have you ever been frustrated or annoyed playing Hearthstone or perhaps you never do? For instance, I get incredibly annoyed in some situations when an emote is said in certain game context. My research attempts to understand this phenomenon. As of late, I have collected quite a bit of data so far and found some interesting results. Nonetheless, I do require more and hope I can share all the interesting data I've gathered!

Updated Guide for Optimizing Quest Reroll

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 03:27 AM PDT

This guide covers all sorts of players; read the instructions for the category you fall into. I clarified wording and added additional explanations from my OP yesterday (which was late at night so I thought I would post this in the morning for more visibility).

Disclaimer: I do not know the exact probabilities of rolling a specific quest and how rerolling effects them, if at all. I assume here that all quests have the same probability of being rolled.

Occasional Player: Only plays a couple times per week

Complete all quests that you don't reroll, prioritize rerolling the hardest to complete quest:

  • Small card collection: Only reroll quests that you cannot complete easily given your collection.
  • Medium card collection: Reroll all quests 50g and under that you cannot complete easily given your collection.
  • Large card collection: Reroll all quests 50g and under.

Regular Player: Plays at least once per day

Don't complete quests worth 40g, prioritize rerolling the least valuable quest if your collection is medium or large:

  • Small card collection: Always keep one quest available for completion unless it has a top tier reward (i.e. 100g, pack, special promo). Reroll all quests 50g and under that you cannot complete easily given your collection.

  • Medium card collection: Always keep one quest available for completion unless it has a top tier reward. Reroll all quests 50g and under.

Don't complete quests worth 50g or less:

  • Large card collection: Always keep two quests available for completion unless it has a top tier reward (i.e. 100g, pack, special promo). Reroll the lowest value quest if 60g and under that you cannot complete easily given your collection.

Avid Player: Plays multiple times per day

Complete the highest value quest you have before rerolling (to avoid stacking quests with the same requirements), prioritize rerolling the least valuable quest

  • Small card collection: Always keep two quests available for completion unless it has a top tier reward (i.e. 100g, pack, special promo). Reroll all quests 50g and under.

  • Medium card collection: Always keep two quests available for completion unless it has a top tier reward. Reroll the lowest value quest if 60g and under. Complete the highest value quest when at 3 quests.

  • Large card collection: Always keep two quests available for completion unless it has a top tier reward. Reroll the lowest value quest if 60g and under. Complete the highest value quest when at 3 quests.

Reasoning

Let's start with the maximum possible gold gain from quests: Avid Player + Large card collection. In this case, you should always keep two quests available for rerolling because you keep completing your highest value quest until you get a top tier reward quest, then you can reroll one of your two quests that you saved. For example:

You have three quests: 60g, 50g, and 40g.

You reroll -> 60g, 50g, 80g. Complete the 80g and don't complete the other two quests.

Tomorrow comes and your new quests -> 60g, 50g, 100g.

You reroll -> 60g, 100g, 100g. Complete one top tier quest. Note that if you did not keep two quests available for rerolling, you wouldn't be able to reroll the least valuable quest, because you either have no quests or one quest instead of two to choose from (after completing the new 100g quest you got at the start of the day). If you get a 40g or 50g, you can always just keep it until it is rerolled eventually. By having three quests at the start of every day, you maximize the possibility that you complete a higher value quest

Now the strategy is toned down for people who are able to play less and less, and with smaller card collections.

IMPORTANT: Why reroll 60g quests? Because if you are keeping one or two quests available for rerolling, you can always reroll a low-roll of 40g or 50g because you are not completing all the quests you have. By not completing all the quests, you have a backup quest always available for rerolling so you can even reroll 60g quests if they are the lowest value. Note that if they are the lowest value, that means that at least one other quest is 60g or more. Therefore, you will almost always have another higher or equal value quest to complete in case you low roll a 60g into a 50g or 40g. This is only the case because you are saving 1 or 2 quests for rerolling (save two to give the best chances), and not completing all of your quests in one day.

Example: You are lucky enough to get -> 60g, 60g, 80g. However, you can "push your luck" (this is assuming that you have enough time and a large enough card collection to do this) by rerolling a 60g (but complete the 80g first!). Now, it seems you get unlucky -> 60g, 40g, 80g. But it doesn't matter because you only complete the highest value quest (80g) and save the rest for rerolling. Now you have -> 60g, 40g. And tomorrow you can reroll the 40g and keep doing this strategy until you get an 80g or more quest.

It seems counter-intuitive to reroll 60g quests because usually people complete all their quests every day. So if you lowroll a 60g -> 40g, you feel bad because now you have to do that quest and get 20g less. But that's not the case if you don't complete all of your quests and save 1 or 2 for rerolling (again, the optimal is 2). The two quests that you save act as a backup in case you lowroll a 60g quest into an unwanted 40g.

However, this strategy is recommended only for players who play frequently and have a decent card collection because you must complete one quest per day, even if it's hard for you (e.g. you only have a couple of murlocs for the 100g play murlocs quest, but you have to complete it in one day because it's your highest value quest). If you don't you will mill a quest which would really suck.

Note that these are general guidelines: feel free to adapt this strategy to your specific play schedule and card collection size (plus other small factors not mentioned here such as arena skill, tavern brawls, etc)

EDIT: Added in some advice from u/Timberstone. EDIT2: Slightly adjusted to make the strategy more safer.

Fun fact: Thanks to Un'Goro every Old God has now been viable at some point.

  • C'Thun: Old Gods C'Thun Warrior
  • Yogg Saron: Had to be nerfed
  • N'Zoth: Old Gods N'Zoth Pally for a short while, has always been one of the best cards in Wild (borderline oppressive until the aggro nation attacked)
  • Y'Shaarj: Un'Goro Ramp Druid (although he's always been optimal in my heart)

This brawl taught me to miss the "Wow" emote.

Posted: 28 Jul 2017 08:47 AM PDT

With "Sorry" being re-enabled in the brawl, it taught me one very valuable lesson: I actually missed having the "Wow" emote.

Crazy rng, or astounding plays would be made, and I couldn't express my surprise. In some cases "Well Played" would work, but in many... not so much.
