Fallout - [Spoilers] How would you feel if simply choosing a faction did NOT certify their victory?

[Spoilers] How would you feel if simply choosing a faction did NOT certify their victory?

As much as I rate how each PC is a legend of the wastes, having the power to squash any force in their way, I feel it undermines the power of the major groups. The fact that a single human is the difference between the Brotherhood/NCR/etc effortlessly annihalating the foes or getting squashed like bugs takes away from how complicated and powerful each faction is lore wise.

It'd be better imo to see more variables involved, perhaps not certain defeat but end results of the final battle determined by events not immediately obvious to the player.

TDLR: I'd like to see factions potentially losing even when sided with by the PC.

Georgia would be a near perfect location for a Fallout game

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 01:47 PM PDT

I'm revisitng Georgia right now after moving to South Dakota (btw a Midwestern Fallout would be great too, but that's been talked about many times before) and I'm surprised that Georgia is hardly ever brought up as far as locations for the next Fallout game. It has hills, forest, farmland, the beach, the city, and as far as individual locations go i'll name all ones that I think might be good(though be warned I've lived here 10 years): Tallulah Gorge, Lake Allatoona, Lake Lanier, Stone Mountain, Kennesaw Mountain, Savannah, Tybee Island, Dahlonega, The coke factory(nuka cola), just to name a few.

Atlanta is a huge industrial center and city, so I imagine that exploring that would be like DC from 3 which would provide a great contrast to the country and suburbs that would be in the rest of the game, and I think it would be great to have this be a general theme throughout the game and it's story. I imagine that Atlanta would be surrounded by a barrier of cars that are pre war called "the sea of cars" as a reference to how awful the traffic is there and once you get to Atlanta it would be ruled by a ghoul or super mutant gang that would be one of the game's main factions and possibly reminiscent of the black panthers if they aren't afraid of being controversial. Also, if they really aren't afraid of being controversial, then the civil war and civil rights struggles could inspire potentially interesting storyline elements.

A lot of the weaponry would either be inspired by Atlanta's gang activity or hunting weapons like shotguns and snipers. Since Georgia has an incredibly high amount of bugs and bugs in fallout=most annoying enemies ever, it would be cool to see that the people of post apocalyptic Georgia developed a bug spray that would help deter bug enemies but it hasn't spread to other regions yet. As far as military goes, Marietta has a very important air force base and factory that produces military planes, and Atlanta is huge on industrialization, and there is tons of industry here in general so these would be great locations to find pre-war military weapons such as laser guns, plasma guns, gauss rifles and occasionally a form of power armor.

As far as the musical side of things goes, Atlanta is a big center for african american culture, and motown sounds similar to fallout music even if many motown songs came out in the 60s. What if we had a two-station thing like in new vegas, where one radio in Atlanta plays motown and songs from the other games and another station in the country plays older country music (and we can even sneak in one or two mojave radio songs in there if we want to). I mean, who wouldn't want to hear "no particular place to go" in fallout? (Yes I know that came out in 1964 and chuck berry is considered rock n roll, not motown but it fits so damn well.)

And since Savannah, the beach, amd the Okefenokee Swamp are beautiful but far away from the rest of the game, they would be great DLC locations. Okefenokee would be the next point lookout, and a lot of the beach DLC would be hunting radsharks. I imagine that since Savannah has so many ghosts, I have an idea for that DLC: you get an invitation from someone that you've never met but claims to know you to come and visit him in Savannah. You go there only to find that Savannah is mostly untouched by the war and at day as vibrant and beautiful as it ever was, and you decide to stay and have dinner at the man's party. Once it becomes nightfall you wake up and find that ghosts are everywhere. After investigating, you find that Savannah is ruled by a ghost-worshipping cult that has kept the city looking mostly like it did before the war but delves into the occult and unnatural. You later find that there is a small, underground and undersupplied group of rebels who are fighting the cult. You can either join the cult and advance in it's ranks until you either kill the rebels for the cult's leader, or kill the cult's leader and replace him to then either destory the rebels or help the rebels and easily destroy the cult, or help the rebels by either being their spy and joining the cult (which leads to the previous 2 options) or as a regular soldier in which you either topple the cult or fail to, and all the rebels but you die and you are forced to leave Savannah. Sorry for that wall of text but I've been thinking about that idea for a while.

There's honestly just so much undiscussed potential here, do you have any ideas that you'd like to share, or do you disagree with any of my ideas?

Edit: The Lookout Mountain and Cloudland Canyon area could also be a cool DLC, where the brotherhood of steel (who's pretty much everywhere even though it makes no sense) has made it into a base and there's a spy in their ranks.

I made this & originally posted it here about almost three years ago. Just want to share it again since it has been a while.

P.s, I have also made them into wallpaper sized versions (1920X1080).

TIL the Prospector Saloon has a backdoor that leads to the sealed off room.

Posted: 21 Jul 2017 06:07 PM PDT

When facing the backside of the saloon there's a locked door to the left that you can open up. Once you open it you'll find yourself inside the room that's boarded up from the main area of the saloon. In the room you'll find some barrels, some junk. And a bunch of moonshine. I have played Fallout New Vegas for hundreds of hours and NEVER noticed this, until now. I know it's not much but I can believe I'm just now noticing it!

What's the deal with Melissa's accent?

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 12:47 AM PDT

Do any of you know why Melissa (Of the Great Khans) has a New Zealand accent? The same voice actor voiced other characters with various American accents but specifically used a kiwi accent for Melissa.

Any idea why this is? The wiki even says "Melissa has a strong New Zealand accent."

Isn't it kinda weird how there are so little amputees in the wasteland throughout all the Fallout games?

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 11:00 AM PDT

Surely, even though it'd be a low chance that they'd survive due to infections and a general lack of hygiene, there would be some amputees in Fallout (apart from Proctor Ingram) because of a lack of healthcare. A stimpak can only do so much (even though it magically restores all limbs for the player) and people still keep all their limbs, even small ones like fingers which could easily be lost in firefights or working accidents. Hell, there are no people on wheelchairs either even though they're scattered throughout the whole Commonwealth you'd think there would be someone bound to injure themselves so they couldn't walk anymore.

Who would win in a titanic clash between the Enclave and the East Coast Chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel (Fallout 4)?

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 05:47 AM PDT

Deep within the bowels of Big MT, a disastrous scientific experiment goes horribly wrong, fracturing the Time-Space Continuum and tearing a dimensional rip in the universe itself. Arthur Maxson's new Brotherhood of Steel finds itself accidentally transported back in time to face the worst enemy the Brotherhood ever encountered in their entire history: the Enclave. Who shall prevail in this battle of epic proportions? The Final Remnant of America and the Commonwealth or the Preservers of the Old World's History and Technology? Place your bets and have at thee!!!!

Round 1: the battle occurs in the Capital Wasteland during the events of Fallout 3

Round 2: the battle occurs in northern California during the events of Fallout 2

Note: the Brotherhood doesn't have access to Liberty Prime in either battle and must depend on themselves for victory this time around. Also, the time warp has unintentionally erased the Brotherhood's memory of the Enclave up to their very first encounter so as to force the Brotherhood to depend on their own skills and strategies instead of old memories and a sort of precognition.

How to stop dogmeat from "finding something"

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 09:21 AM PDT

Dogmeat sometimes finds stuff. This could be useful early game, when a 10mm gun with an advanced reciever is a "good find". But, alas, once you bypass that point, Dogmeat still tries to be a good dog, constantly picking up fat-men and missile launchers which I already have, and thus being useless clutter in his inventory until I remember to take it out. What's more, he also likes to run straight through minefields, or alerts an entire camp you were trying to ambush to your location, just to get that one pipe pistol lying around somewhere. So, my point is, how can I stop him from doing it? Is there a mod? Because I couldn't find it myself.

Nuka world without losing preston?

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 03:42 PM PDT

I want to play nuka world to get aeternus and porter gages perk but not lose preston as a companion, is it possible? My plan is this: play nuka world until home sweet home then get aeternus then complete open season.

Best way to transfer mods[Fallout 4]

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 06:46 AM PDT

Hi guys. Just built a new rig a couple of weeks ago and just haven't bothered porting my mods to the new machine. What would be the quickest way for me to do this? I still have the old machine available, so if it's just as simple as copying the mod directory from the old machine that would be good to know.

Any tips for beginners for fallout 1 and 2.

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 02:46 PM PDT

I started with 4 then I played New Vegas and I loved it, played 3 after and didn't like it. I just want to play New Vegas for the first time again but since that's impossible I thought 1 and 2 would be a good substitute. I got vault 19 in 1 and passed the temple of trials in 2. I didn't have any fun. I'm hoping I was playing them wrong and if I played them differently I would enjoy it just like the minority of fans who the first 2 and 4 probably played 4 wrong and didn't like it until they played it differently. Sorry for any grammatical errors.

I think I've messed up Far Harbor - any way to salvage it? [Spoiler]

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 02:30 PM PDT

I'm just about at the end of Far Harbor, having sent DiMA to face Far Harbor's justice.

I got bored with the sidequests and stopped doing them - and this means that not enough people at Far Harbor speak up for me (only Cassie does), and thus they wipe out Acadia.

I've done Rite of Passage, but can't speak to Teddy to complete it because the discussion with DiMA triggers as soon as I walk near him. Likewise, I can't start any other quests because I can't approach anyone.

My only saves are at the start of the DLC or after telling DiMA to go to Far Harbor.

Is there anything I can do to avoid this outcome?

Which is the best main faction in Fallout 4?

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 02:13 PM PDT

I've just recently gotten Fallout 4 for my PlayStation 4 and I'm a little green on the East Coast lore so I was just curious as to which faction is the best and which one should I work with? Name the best faction by each of the following factors:

Technological superiority

Moral high ground

Military strength

Best for the future of the game's setting (the Commonwealth, right?)

How come in the Fallout Wikia...

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 02:12 PM PDT

That there are specific karma ranks next to each NPC in Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3? Like for example, someone like Sunny Smiles would have Very Good karma according to the Wiki, but someone like Vulpes Inculta would have Very Evil karma.

[FNV] What is your favourite weather mod?

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 08:10 AM PDT

Would like to hear some suggestions and opinions on people's favourite weather mods for NV. I'm currently using UTWLTTW And I am quite liking it so far, only problem I have with it is the not so 'realistic' looking sun. The vanilla sun glare is much better imo.

What's your favourite? :P And what would you recommend that doesn't either make fps drop drastically or cause nights to be overly dark?
