I've already cleansed once, and I'm on my second cleanse now. No one suspects a thing, and with that foolish detective gone, I have free rein over the city.

The most well-written character in any Fallout game?

Posted: 23 Jul 2017 10:42 AM PDT

I personally believe Ulysses had a very interesting backstory, and all he's gone through really shows his motives for what he does to you. That's not a spoiler btw, for all you who deserve to have it spoiled by now.

My other answer is Gary.

[FNV] How safe is the Vault 21 hotel room?

Posted: 23 Jul 2017 10:55 AM PDT

A few quick questions since I'm thinking about moving in there.

  • Is the room permanetly mine now that I've given Sarah 30 suits?

  • Will the locker/dressers despawn items if I leave them in there?

  • If I leave a party hat or some armor out on the table will NPCs wander in and steal it?

Thanks in advance guys?

Fallout 4 has many problems, but its sound track is on point

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 09:37 PM PDT

Just broke up with piper. Sitting alone in an empty apartment watching the sunset over boston when "Its the end of the world" https://youtu.be/MijW2PqR0S0. Started playing.

Damn did the game get sad quick? Suddenly i remebered why i fell for her. All the good times we had. Her snarky comments, the way her skin glistened in the rain. How her eyes used to sparkle whenever we uncovered something big.

I remeber stimpaking her whenever she took a whole magazine to the chest. How was i supposed to know she didnt like killing innocents and eating their flesh?

Is it worth to play Fallout 1 with 10/10 Luck?

Posted: 23 Jul 2017 07:08 AM PDT

I want to make another Fallout playthrough and I'm wondering if giving 10 points to Luck will change a lot in the game? I suppose that in Fallout 2 it would be great because of shitload of ester eggs and more casinos, but how does it affect the gameplay in the first game of the franchise? Maybe I should take, let's say, 5 or 6 Luck and it won't change that much?

The greatest and most thought provoking Fallout playthrough I have ever done in my +1,000 hours. A manipulative sociopath with only 1 life.

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 08:06 PM PDT

(Note: I have 1k hours or more on the entire series, not NV)

I decided to see how thought out New Vegas was and started a character who manipulates and plans everything and has only one life. Let me just say it was one of the best moments in gaming for me.

Rather be someone who shoots firsts or stealth through every or just talk through everything like some. Rather this one playthrough had me think ahead of everything.

It isn't a simple stealth or charisma build. This one build requires you to think beyond mere speech checks (Though she had a charisma of 9 anyways)

For example at the very beginning I offered to help Goodsprings so I could find Ringo and then killed him. Then choose to talk the Powder Gangers into attacking the town. I then kept the illusion of being on both sides and asked Doc Mitchel for supplies I kept for myself.

When the fight started. I just stood in the distance and watched as they killed themselves and then I looted the rest.

Basically this one character build is the most thought provoking one I had ever done. Like working for House, the NCR and Yes Man at the same time. As it progresses I choose to help House until the robot army was activated, then I murdered him. I continued to work with the NCR and choose to protect the president only to later steal the dam in a final act of betrayal.

The best part was being a knight of the brotherhood only to replace the elder, gain power and technology and then blow up the bunker.

Or hell pretending to be Arcade's friend only to get the family armor he possessed and then never speak to him again like the cold hearted person my character was.

My character was calm, collective, sociopathic and never really revealed whose side she was on. She was in only for herself. She lied, manipulated, cheated and tricked people all with a calm and logical expression and mindset. The best part is you have to stay in character or you will die.

I managed to beat the game on very hard hardcore without dying by manipulating my way into power. It was very interesting to say the least.

Such a shame Fallout 4 was lacking in the rpg area. But neverless it was truly one of the best times I ever spent playing a game and I recommend for everyone to try this type of build.

There is nothing as satisfying as working for 3-4 factions only to really be secretly on your own side and take apart all the other factions with nothing but your wits and careful planning

Do you want to have a desolate and lonely feeling like in Fallout 3 or more of a post-post apocalypse like in New Vegas? I think that 4 had a good balance between both, but you guys are shitting on it both for having few towns and not being desolate. Pick one.

Just started Vault 88 quest for the first time: is the Overseer's creepy vibe just me being paranoid or is she gonna make me do stuff that will make me hate myself?

I can't play Fallout 2

Posted: 23 Jul 2017 01:34 PM PDT

I got this stupid buggy game from GOG and it's giving me so many problems. I beat Fallout 1 just fine, didn't have any bugs at all, but Fallout 2 is seriously a pain in the ass.

For starters, I had to reinstall the game a couple of times because it gave me an error on launch - "the instruction at (insert hex number here) referenced memory (insert hex number here) bla bla bla."

Then I had the slowdowns. Sometimes after changing areas the frames would drop to a slideshow(I mean it, really). It would never recover. The only solution was close and run the again. I must have done this more than 10 times.

After a while I couldn't alt+tab the game no more. It would always give me a black screen with no sound if I alt+tabbed back to the game, forcing me to restart.

And now it's the worst: the game doesn't run AT ALL. It's stuck after the "Stand-By" message before the intro. It fails to load. I just get an infinite black screen after the "Stand-By". I don't even get the Interplay intro for fuck's sake.

I tried reinstalling this POS but the problem won't go away. I tried both exes: the High res and the low res. Both give me the same bug. I tried the game without the patch, and the results were the same.

How can a problem persist after a reinstall?

Should I just give up?

Ready to give up on Fallout 2, really stuck (minor spoilers?)

Posted: 23 Jul 2017 03:45 PM PDT

So I've gotten to San Francisco and I've been given a quest to fetch some vertibird blueprints for The Shi(?) Problem is the Enclave completely overpower me in Navarro and I have no idea where to go.

On a side note was I right to kill Chris in Navarro after threatening him (I think I managed it before he called for backup) or should I just shoot on sight before he even gets chance to try and grab his radio?

Marcy Long might be more annoying than Preston Garvey!?!

Posted: 23 Jul 2017 03:25 PM PDT

I know her son was killed in the Quincy Massacre, but god is she annoying.

Example:

Preston: We're heading to a settlement Mama Murphy knows about. Sanctuary.

Marcy: She knows about it? You mean she saw it in one of her "visions" while she was stoned out of her gourd.

She always has a smart aleky response for everything. She super stuck up and it pisses me off so much. Feel free to add in on the discussion.

Why do people say F4 lacked unique towns

Posted: 23 Jul 2017 12:48 AM PDT

F4 and FNV had a similar amount of towns (Diamond City, Goodneighbor, Covenant, Bunker Hill, Vault 81, and the Institute for 4 and the Strip, Westside, Freeside, Novac, Primm, and Goodsprings for NV), yet people complain that 4 lacked unique settlements compared to NV.

What order should you go to the cities in Fallout 2?

Posted: 23 Jul 2017 02:26 PM PDT

Been playing Fallout 2 for a few days now for the first time and have been going through the cities in this order so far: Arroyo, Klamath, The Den, Modoc, Vault City, Gecko, Broken Hills, New Reno and Redding. And next I plan on going to San Francisco and finally the New California Republic before heading out to Vault 15, which I have been putting of for now, then to Vault 13, which I assume is on the map somewhere after playing Fallout 1 ;). I've done most of the quests in the cities that I've been to and just need to tie of a few more. Overall though, is this the correct order, or?

[spoiler]Does the Brotherhood now have a chance of beating the NCR?

Posted: 23 Jul 2017 07:38 AM PDT

If the BoS wins Fallout 4, does that mean they can take on the NCR now? They're now a highly mobile army, with extremely effective shock troopers and the technology from the Institutes ruins to help power them.

Can they stand a chance in the second NCR Brotherhood war?

Fallout 4 modding music files

Posted: 23 Jul 2017 04:01 PM PDT

Hello!

I found out how to mod in my own music into the game, but for the combat for example there are two files and one has "finale" in it. Which one is it? Which one do I need to keep or what does this mean, what is the "finale" file? What if I put the same full song as the finale?

Thanks for the help

Real world equivalents to fallout magazines?

Posted: 23 Jul 2017 06:56 AM PDT

So this might sound really stupid, but I actually started looking at the covers of some of the magazines and comics from fallout 4, and I was wondering if there was a real world equivalent of the "live and love" magazines? It seems pretty cool, the stories seem varied and interesting with a vague common theme.

This question actually extends to the other magazines in the series as well, if you know of any real world equivalent to something like "Tumblers today" or "Astoundingly awesome tales", that would be helpful to.

Lag spikes in Vault 81

Posted: 23 Jul 2017 09:31 AM PDT

Hey there, I'm currently playing Fallout 4 on my first actually modded playthrough. I'm on Xbox One and I have about 86 MB of free space out of my mods. I've been playing with some minor frame rate drops but in Vault 81 it's practically unbearable.

Is this because of my mods or is there nothing I can do about this?

What laptops do you play NV on?

Posted: 23 Jul 2017 03:21 PM PDT

I'm in the market to buy a new laptop and want to make sure the new one can run NV at tolerable quality. My current laptop (ASUS K55N) runs it fine but is 5 years old and generally slow so I'm looking for an overall upgrade. I've been looking at the Dell XPS 13 if anyone's has experience trying to run NV on that. Any recommendations would be great. Thank you!

Should fallout shelter's lore be considered to be lore of the Fallout universe?

Posted: 23 Jul 2017 02:59 PM PDT

I know that the quests don't go into much detail and you only have brief conversations with characters but they have some quest lines that include popular fallout Icons and brands. But I don't know whether it should be considered just mobile game wirh quests in it to add content to the game and not the fallout universe or another add-on to the fallout franchise and lore.
