True Dota 2 - Next level: Forest healing troll is the best creep for Doom (offlane) lvls 1-15

Next level: Forest healing troll is the best creep for Doom (offlane) lvls 1-15

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 12:01 PM PDT

I know it sounds crazy, but with +3 mana/sec, you can cast your cheap ass spells whenever you want. This means infinite scorched Earth, infernal blade whenever you want, and if you get early windlace into phase, you can escape three man ganks with ease. Max scorched Earth first, up to your lvl 5 you have to be a bit careful, but even if they harass you, just stand in the trees and heal up to full in thirty seconds. Right clicking on the healing (for auto cast) gives yourself about 20 hp/sec, and you can leach exp in the meantime. Healing in lane is also almost a fucking taunt, people get so triggered losing a lane to a healing troll Doom.

This is advice for about 4.5k MMR.

Can roaming Razor work?

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 02:29 PM PDT

So my friends and me theorized about using Razor as a roaming pos.4. He can easily harass anyone out of the lane from minute 0 with Static link if starting with Wind Lace, Tangoes, Clarity and support items if needed. He can scale quite well into midgame with items like Treads/Phase + Drums, Vlads, Hood (Pipe) or even SnY if the economy allows it. Though lacking slows, he can have movespeed advantage thanks to his passive. So what are your thoughts on this?

Is magic ember still better than battle fury ember?

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 09:28 AM PDT

Now that the lvl 10 spell amplification talent is only 8% (half of it's 7.00 value) while the alternate is a whooping +30 damage. Although spell amplification per int has increased.

But now that heroes have better hp regen per strength, it really makes burst damage more punishable if you can't make the initial kill.

Jungle creep spawns every minute now so passive farming is more viable

Bottle skipping on TA?

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 05:11 AM PDT

I noticed a pro (forget who) do this once, so I did it in my next pub and it actually worked pretty well. I've been doing it in all my TA games since then with a lot of success.

Instead of buying a bottle, you just fly out Clarities for mana. This works really well on TA since the clarity won't dispel if you have refraction up, and you also don't need the bottle hp regen since you can tank most harass. You probably end up spending about the same cost as a bottle by the end of the game in clarities alone, but it speeds up your deso by 1-2 minutes which I'd say is worth it.

I'd still get bottle against a lane where taking harass is unavoidable, but most of the time, skipping bottle works great.

Thoughts?

edit; spelling

What makes Shadow Fiend a good pick?

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 09:47 AM PDT

I mostly like to play mid, and I'm at least fairly competent on almost all of the good mids. But lately I've been trying to put more thought into what makes hero's a good pick, rather than just basic stuff like "they don't have a lot of lock down, I'll pick storm".

But I'm just not sure what shadow fiend wants to go up against/ wants on his team. Only thing I can really think of is that he doesn't want t go against a lot of early burst who can put him behind before he gets bkb, and he wants good stuns on his team so he can consistently deal damage and not get kited.

But what else makes a game a good sf game?

Questions about Dlardar, his evolving role in the meta, and his viability as a carry

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 09:21 AM PDT

I've been watching dota since TI6, and at that time Slardar was a pos. 3 hero, and a highly contested one at that. He has an AoE stun that and a movement ability that allows him to dive in and out of fights, plus his ult. Recently though, I've seen him be played as a pos. 4. I don't understand how he can fit this role. He seems like he does t need many items to be efdective, but he definitely needs plenty of experience, right? Yet he seems to function well as a pos. 4. I'd appreciate an in-depth explanation of his ability to perform with very few items and little experience.

I'm also interested in the possibility of Slardar as a carry. Dota lists Slardar as a tier 2 carry--basically on the same level as heroes like lifestealer, TA, Clinkz, Huskar, and Faceless Void. Heroes that, without question, need plenty of items and levels to perform at their peak. Yet Slardar has been proven to function with minimal farm. Why do we not see games where Slardar is given serious farm priority and allowed to flourish as a snowball carry? Is it a waste of resources? Do other heroes fill his role as a carry better?

EDIT: My god I can't spell

How is treant protector after the nerfs?

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 02:45 PM PDT

The big nerfs being:

  • movespeed from 290 to 280 in 7.06c

  • nature's guise bash is now a root that gives truesight

I would have thought that killing his bash would've made him terrible now that people can BKB or euls away the root, but his winrate doesn't look terrible on dotabuff.

Two questions:

  1. is Treant still a top tier support after the nerf?

  2. Is he still a safe first pick, both at high level pubs and the pro scene? Did the nerf make him more counterable?

If tower damage is your absolute goal, what is the best item to deal damage on tower?

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 12:32 AM PDT

I'm asking since I played a game of arc warden which they have zero to no catch to deal with my double. I'm wondering what is the highest tower damage build

Is mid bottle rushing still a thing?

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 12:17 AM PDT

I tend to get greedy when playing mid and sometimes just buy tangos, two branches, and a faerie fire at the start. Having the leftover gold + bounty rune normally nets me a fast bottle, but I've noticed that playing against higher skilled players can be tough due to the lack of stats for damage. Is it just simply better nowadays to go null/branch/faerie fire + pooled tangoes on a hero like Storm?
