Seriously can't wait until I don't need to use LFG anymore.

Out of all the announcements for D2, the best and most valuable IMO has to be the Guided Games. Spending an hour looking for random people to raid with is getting exhausting.

Why do players die (too often) in raids?

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 01:25 AM PDT

Genuine question, not a bitch. When I first started raiding I remember others saying to me, after I asked for some tips: "just don't die", which was funny at the time, but actually true.

Stating the obvious, it is the number one reason raid encounters fail. Someone dies and, not all the time, but generally, the encounter fails as it all starts to go wrong.

Last night I ran HM WOTM with 5 other 400 light guardians from the100 and, after far too long, we had to walk away from Vosik. People just kept dying when they needed to stay alive.

Genuine question, given everyone is the same light level, and armour levels are not that different, why do some players die often, when others do not?

What is it that good players do, to not die, and others do not, to die? I am interested in your views and experience, beyond "just get gud" and "hunters are just squishy" (which they are not).

Not using their radar enough? Not moving enough? Not crouching enough? Jumping too much? Forgetting their abilities (invs smoke etc.)? Trying to melee too much? Not knowing where to fight from? Not using cover? Using wrong weapons?

(Question)

I bought playstation plus for one year in 2014 and have not renewed it since yet I have still been able to do all the online stuff such as fireteams and crucible and strikes to this day. Is this supposed to happen?

Title^

Edit: never connected a credit/debit card to it. I got a one year card from the store and never had to buy another one.

Edit 2: only one account on my ps4 too.

Lore: Could We Lose Our Light? A World Without Light

Welcome back guardians,

In today's report we will investigate the allegations and the disastrous potential of guardians and their relationship to the force of the light and the unlikely event that they can lose it. This question or theme of this report has been echoed many times across warlock orders and cryptarch, it almosts seems that everyone has an interest in the Light and its beneficial properties. But few if any openly admit there are certain negative repercussions to welding and depending on it as guardians do. In this report we will discuss the potential world of guardians losing their connection to the light, how the light operates within us and the Travelers role in our grand saga of reconstruction.

Where did it start

How could guardian's Lose their light? This question is closely tied to how they gained their light, but be mindful what we are about to discuss are only theories. Much of the study of the light and its properties were lost during the collapse. When the golden age was at its height, humanity was entering an enlightenment phase on spiritual, governmental, social and scientific fronts. This change towards the best version of humanity is commonly attributed to the Traveler's arrival and inherent influence. But there isn't a record of how exactly this change came about, how did humanity transform their life expectancy to hundreds of years of what wasn't natural, without losing their cognitive functions. The best record we do happen to have is ancient, it comes from astronaut and pilot, Jacob Hardy, stating "It turned out well. Look at me. Look at us! You're talking to a ninety-year-old man. A ninety-year-old who's never been sharper. I'm miles ahead of every cognitive benchmark." But the golden age has no records of guardians or their precursor title, risen, so is it possible the light has an effect on humanity directly, or is Jacob Hardy new resilient age a product of human technological advancement. Unfortunately we cannot prove or disapprove that Humans, prior to becoming guardians could wield light, but there is enough evidence to suggest that humans could be influenced or changed by it.

Magic or Mysticism

A secondary opinion, but one that should be discussed, what the light is exactly. The old earth quote that still resonates with much of what we witness today does well enough to describe our current question. "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." While some, less qualified individuals, may describe guardians using their light as bearers capable of miraculous feats, it's more likely that the light is another unseeable force or energy, that when the right user is tuned to its frequency, it can be utilized for a wide array of feats. So if the light isn't some magical force, wielded by those gifted enough to do so, perhaps it's an ability given by the traveler in the form of ghost guardian symbiosis. But to be honest there are a multitude of interpretations. For example, the accounts of the Iron Lords, particularly that of Lord Radegast, describe a group of "light-bearers" to be acting as warlords and vandals, actively misusing their powers. His records state, "All we have to fear is... this." He pointed down at the dead warlords. "Giving in. Allowing the power of the Light to blind us to what we truly are." Unfortunately his records do not describe if these warlords were given ghosts, but the records of the other Iron lords do. The account of Lord Felwinter and the Warlord of the 32nd subsector of Old Russia Citan, account a warlord or light bearer being revived by a ghost. And so it is said "Citan's Ghost sparked into view from above, bringing its eye to bear on its fallen charge. The Warlord emerged from a radiant column, a frenzied shout at his lips. Felwinter's shotgun cracked like thunder—once for the Warlord, and again for his Ghost." Perhaps during the time of the Iron Lords, prior to the City Age, Ghost's of guardians did not have the ability, and perhaps still don't, to understand the true nature of right and wrong. Perhaps to Citan's Ghost, what Citan was doing in Old Russia was for the betterment of all, regardless of the means or loss of human life. Maybe a ghost can only be a guide for a guardian, not necessarily the path itself.

The Dreaded Name

It can assumed just like in the case of Rezly Azzir becoming Dredgen Yor, a guardians ghost is intrinsically good or close to the light and any true deviation, jumping off the metaphorical cliff into one's base desires of evil, would force that ghost to leave its guardian. But it would also mean that the Ghost is not required for a guardian to wield light, but only to be revived with the knowledge of its existence and potential uses. So perhaps, for the sake of this argument, perhaps guardians are given a connection with the light, by the travellers ghosts, that allow them to wield the light, and they do not lose that ability regardless of their actions.

Hopes Shattered

At least, that's what we believed, until Ghaul and his Red Legion destroyed our beloved city and arrested our Traveller. Guardians from all over the City, even the strongest of us, our mentors, felt drained and dead, as if we've been forcibly amputated of an unseen life preserving limb. The theory here is that Guardians and the Traveller have an unseen connection, a certain tether if you will, both to bound to one another and yet strangely both independent. This event, however particularly devastating it has been, has opened us to a new world of possibilities. One in which we can wield light without the direct influence of the Traveller. Perhaps the Traveller is a beacon or amplifier of light, not necessarily its creator or supplier. What I mean by that more specifically is that the traveller is only an avatar of the light, its greatest protector and constructor, it doesn't rule the light but acts in reverence of it. So if we continue off the assumption that the traveller acts as an amplification for the light, while not directly powering guardians, but giving humanity a way to actively wield the light.

Once Again, A Chance

Perhaps light is all around us, and prior the golden age, always has been, but for it to manifest into actual usable energy it takes a being like the traveller to be present. The Traveller's presence allows for light to become dense enough, metaphorically speaking of course, that is becomes a usable source of energy. Or maybe it's much more simple than this report intends to make it, perhaps humanity was just blind to the light as we are blind to ultra violet rays or gamma radiation, we can't see these things we our eyes, but it does not mean that they don't exist and imply forces upon our bodies. From the records of the first cryptarchs on the nature of the light, they explain it with a certain elegance, stating "Only Guardians have the gift of the Traveler's Light - the ability to channel its energies to project vast power into the world. Even without a firearm, a Guardian is a radiant engine of destruction." An engine of destruction, an odd way to describe a savior or protector, but certainly it is accurate.

Do We have a Chance?

But if Guardians can lose their connection to the light, or at least have their attachment to it torn or weakened, what chance is there to gain back their past strength? Especially now, with our backs against the wall, or last bastion under siege and the vanguard scattered. The light has given us the ability to resecure our lost identity as a people, and after the SIVA crisis it seemed, if only for a moment we had started the path back down a new golden age, one ripe with reconquest of our worlds and colonies. But this arrival of Ghaul and his Red Legion have changed everything, but perhaps he has mistakenly given us a new opportunity. A chance to reconnect with the Light without the need of the Traveller, without the need of a beacon to amplify light for all of us to use. A world in which Humanity is not dependent on a sleeping or dead god, but on one another, side by side, shoulder to shoulder. There are rumors, whispers in the wilderness of the light's return to certain guardians, so perhaps there is a chance, perhaps it's too small to act upon, but if we have just a single shard of hope, we must secure it.

May the light find its way back to you guardians.

New PC Mean New PC Theme! ~consume enhance replicate~

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 09:55 AM PDT

A good friend of mine (/u/Crimson881) was looking to pick of a new gaming PC so I offered him my current gaming PC, which allowed me to pick up a new PC I have been keeping my eye on!

Ever since Rise of Iron dropped I have been in love with SIVA and all the wonders it brought to the game and along that journey I found a post from about 6 months ago by a user named (/u/SpectralDnB) and his take on a Glorious SIVA Rainmeter Theme to which he was kind enough to share the files for me to work with. So over the past few weeks I have been tweaking and modifying the settings and files to work with my build as well as fix some of the broken links that were not working for me.

So finally after customizing a tiled 4K, tiled 1440p, and a full-res 1440p wallpaper I am ready to share my slight variation on this theme with my favorite community!

Where is the line between "hand-holding tutorials" and "you're completely on your own" when it comes to the mechanics of Destiny 2?

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 07:49 AM PDT

We all love Destiny. You're reading this because you care enough to seek resources outside of the game itself. Not everyone is like this! Destiny 1 had a serious lack of mechanic explanation. Even with the grimoire, far too many things were left unexplained for the casual gamer.

What would you like to see change as far as mechanics of Destiny 2 being explained? How much tutorial is too much? Is there a better way than a tutorial in the first place?

Examples of this are: 1) Enemy classes: Remember the old bounties? "Kill 10 Hive Majors" and the like? What the heck is a major? What is an Ultra? The game never explains to you. Why do some count and others don't? If Ultras are "bosses" then why do some exist outside of boss level encounters? Very confusing.

2) Severely lacking item tooltips: This has gotten better with age but "should I use a synth when I'm dead?", "what are these arbitrary line graphs representing in my stats? Does +2 agility actually give me a substantial boost?" etc

3) Why are there so many different kinds of currency and resources and what do they do??? Should I hoard some? Who else discovered too late Orbs of Light could be used to quick level gear?

4) Can i store up my packages from reputation rank ups? spoiler alert: no, you can't and I'll never get those 10 DO packages back :-(

5) The worst one of all: Xur! My friend was playing for nearly a YEAR before he knew that this tentacled friend existed. Shame on me for assuming he discovered him on his own but I also feel like that's a significant part of the game that you literally would never discover if you didn't happen to search every nook and cranny of the Tower for the few hours he's present.

Sure all these questions are obvious to most of us but huge chunks of the game are left unsaid and I think that will be detrimental to the new Guardians we hope to see at launch. It's proven as much for all the Guardians I've brought into the game in the years since initial release. Most of the time I send them to Reddit to see all of this subreddit's excellent guides, but I think less emphasis should be put on outsourcing Destiny resources. If the trend continues I fear that with each new release we'll see Destiny only being supported by the super fans and I don't believe that's enough to keep the franchise afloat.

Tl:dr Destiny 1 had very little explained in way of mechanics and that could prove bad in the long run of the franchise. How would you see it improved?

D2 is the Perfect Time for us to wield Hive Boomers and Vex Torch Hammers!

Posted: 03 Jun 2017 07:40 PM PDT

Destiny 2 is all about new adventures, new weapons, and new stories and Guardians are all about that Loot - Sweet, Precious LEWT! From all of the gameplay showed so far, there's been three huge things that stick out to us - Grenade Launchers, more Swords, and that Minigun Auto Rifle.

This makes me think of a few weapons that we, the Community, have wanted to use for so long, so I imagined how they could through the Weapon System that Bungie has redesigned for D2:

The Vex's Arsenal

  • Torch Hammer (Void Fusion/Grenade Launcher Hybrid or Just a Grenade Launcher - Power Slot)
  • Line Rifle (Solar Sniper Rifle or Fusion/Sniper Hybrid like Queenbreaker's Bow)

The Hive's Arsenal

  • Boomer (Arc Grenade Launcher - Power Slot)
  • Cleaver (Arc Sword - Power Slot)
  • Shredder (Void Auto Rifle or Submachine Gun - Energy Slot)

The Fallen's Arsenal

  • Shock Rifle (Arc Pulse Rifle - 59 ROT/30 Impact Archetype - Energy Slot)
  • Shock Blade (Arc Sword - Power Slot)

The Cabal's Arsenal

  • Projection Rifle (Solar Grenade Launcher? - Power Slot)
  • Heavy Slug Thrower (Solar Mingun Auto Rifle - Energy Slot)

The three that really stick out for me as potential possibilities are the Hive's Boomer, the Vex's Torch Hammer, the Hive's Shredder, the Fallen's Shock Rifle, and the Cabal's Heavy Slug Thrower - they all have a great place in Destiny 2.

Even if some of these don't come with the release of D2, they should eventually come because it would be an opportunity well missed out on.
