Fallout - Anyone else NEVER use power armor?

Anyone else NEVER use power armor?

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 03:05 AM PDT

It's something iconic of the fallout series, and I love it aesthetically. But i've never used it for more than 10 minutes. For starters I hate slow tanky characters in any videogame. And also I hate feeling overpowered, especially when you're supposed to struggle in a nuclear wasteland and the game is already easy enough. I don't want a huge tin can around my body to protect me from those bad mean deathclaws, i'd rather find some strategy to take them out, being stealthy for example.

I haven't played Fallout 4 yet, and it sounds cool building your power armor, but it will probably be just a fancy furniture in my house.

Doing my first play through of new Vegas... there’s just so many interesting and funny characters!

The dialogue is so good! Just met Festus the puppet... kind of weird but funny.

Really missing holstered weapons in fallout 4

Posted: 25 Jun 2017 11:49 PM PDT

Does anyone miss weapons not being holstered in fallout 4 i know from new Vegas and 3 that you can have weapons on your side and back and is there a mod for 4 that does this accurately?

Immersive Fallout 4 Playthrough

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 12:52 PM PDT

I'm trying to make an immersive Fallout 4 playthrough (on survival for the first time) and created a poll based on a random character generator.

If anyone would like to fill out the survey on what kind of character I should play, please do.

P.S. Anyone with ideas or wants to know more, let me know!

Are automatic weapons worth it in FO4?

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 11:49 AM PDT

In my current FO4 run, i've been focusing on accurate, powerful, single shot weapons, since ammo is scarce and they use the ammo more efficiently. I'm now about mid-game, ammo isn't as much of a problem and i can get far more than enough for the single-shot strategy, but i want a high DPS at close range, so i get an automatic sidearm.

They do the job, but holy shit do they guzzle so much ammo! I had to stop using them because not only was it expensive, but the venders simply didn't stock the quantities of ammo i needed to keep using the automatics. Is it just because i didn't have the perks to increase their damage? Or does anyone else find that automatics are too impractical for regular use?

Do you have any theme songs for the Fallout companions and other NPCs?

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 09:33 AM PDT

For NPCs I spend much time with, I associate at least one or two theme songs. It helps put me in a frame of mind on how to react to them. Here are mine for the Fallout 4 companions, specifically:

Some of them are a bit unconventional I admit. For Preston, in particular, it's how I envision the Commonwealth as a whole sees him. Also, I imagine that's how MacCready feels about his rifle.

No enemies with power armor?

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 01:51 PM PDT

I'm level 56 in fallout 4 and I've beaten the main quest going through the nuka world dlc. I haven't been found any enemies wearing power armor on the overworld. I really like fighting them. Am I looking in the wrong place or do they not respawn?

Problem with Fallout 4

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 08:42 AM PDT

I bought Fallout 4 yesterday, and I worked fine for my first session, but now when I try to reopen it by pressing play through the launcher, the launcher disappears, nothing happens, and then it reappears 30 seconds later. Any advice on what to do?

Independent, NCR, Mr. House

With the steam sale I decided to pick up Fallout New Vegas. What is the best ending? Or another question which one is the best faction? Any thoughts?

[Q] Good Settlements for a Player Home?

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 07:18 AM PDT

Hey everyone, I've played fallout for 56 hours on my main, and I think it's time I get a player home. Would love if the fallout community had some suggestions! All I'm really looking for in a home base is a high place, overlooking the commonwealth with a great view. At first, I was thinking about using two mods to make Fizztop grill from Nuka World a settlement, but they didn't let me have a supply line to it, so I can't use that.

Some Settlements I CANNOT make my home: - Sanctuary: Already built up with tons of settlers - Kingsport Lighthouse: built to be the minutemen trading dock - Red Rocket: home for my companions

Open to any suggestions, or mods that fit my requirements.

[Far harbor spoilers] The tale of the Mariner

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 04:56 AM PDT

So I just finished up with the island as a whole, killed some insane cultists, found a missing girl, ate some chowder all that good stuff...

But my favorite part was everything with the Mariner. She was for no obvious reason just a great character to me. I loved helping her, getting close to her, helping her accept that she wasn't alone etc and when she told me about the red death I was damned and determined to be by her side hoping that Bethesda wasn't going to punch my gut and kill her in a heroic sacrifice or something.

And honestly I'm just depressed about the whole thing. She's not happy to lie about what happened, but she's not happy to tell the truth because those ungrateful bastards just laugh at her.

Like she says herself before you leave the island "it wasn't supposed to be like this" It was supposed to be the great hunt, and her last hurrah...

I just can't believe Bethesda could take the time to give her a sympathetic story, a terminal illness, and then just end her questline with a fucking joke. I know their writing is shit most of the time but at worst I was expecting melancholy or something not "haha she's her great beast was non hostile mini crab with one hitpoint we got you so good making you think it'd be a tough scary fight"

[Fo4] Could someone on PC do me a quick favor?

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 05:21 AM PDT

I've been scouting for an area to recreate as a tabletop battleground and have decided on the area surrounding Fort Hagen. I've taken loads of screenshots but I can't get the most important one and can't find it online. I need an aerial screenshot of the whole area. The Red Rocket will be the northern border and the southern border will be roughly around the blood bank place.

If someone on PC could activate freecam and take a few screenshots from a birds eye view of the area, that'd be really awesome and I'd really appreciate it.

Cheers.

What to use level points on?

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 10:09 AM PDT

Still new to Fallout and I'm level 8. Should I use the level points (not sure what they're called but the points you get from leveling up) on perks or boosting my SPECIAL?

Are there any PS4 mods out yet that actually make the game different/better?

Best/worst legendary weapons you've ever gotten in FO4?

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 03:43 PM PDT

Everyone's into the explosive minigun, but I've never actually gotten it. On my main playthrough I stick w/ the explosive combat shotgun, deadeye .308 combat rifle, and instigating .50 rifle. I'm also really into the two shot .44 magnum and two shot fat man (not especially useful, but fun to watch if you have the MIRV.) Worst I've ever gotten was a ghoul slayer's gamma gun (I feel like this has happened to everyone) and an assassin's fat man. What are you guys' favourite legendaries???

Using drugs in fallout games

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 02:39 PM PDT

I never understood why people didn't use drugs in NV and 4. Fixer and Addictol (and that Refreshing Beverage) are so easy to come by, and the boosts you get are completely worth it. I did like that in 3, addiction had more consequences.

I dunno, it just felt like 4 completely took any risk of drug use out of the game.

Steam Sale -- New Vegas DLC

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 02:08 PM PDT

I'm currently in a replay of New Vegas. Steam has their summer sale going on now and I think it's currently at a ~40% discount for the NV DLC. I bought the vanilla game during a similar sale (originally played on PS3) a few years back for about $5. The handful of DLCs combined come out to ~$14. I've never played any of the DLC so I'm interested, but not decided. Think a better sale on that content will come up? Is it worth getting the complete pack of DLC or is there some I should skip?

Can't figure out story justification

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 01:59 PM PDT

Sorry for the vague title, I couldn't think of a better one. A buddy and I have been trying to write a story based in fallout. We can't think of any justification for an NCR courier 6 to come to the commonwealth or the east coast in general. Any good ideas we can use? Time setting is 2287, beginning of Fallout 4.

Does a fallout tv series interest anyone?

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 01:45 PM PDT

Really curious to hear what you guys think about fallout being a series. I would love to see a show following different lives throughout the wasteland (preferably the Mojave because to me, it's the most interesting).

A few examples of this could be a family trying to survive on a settlement or something or a guy who's searching for sunset star bottle caps, Hoover Dam, or places like the ultra luxe and the tops. I feel like with the amount of content in NV, there are so many options and cool characters, I've always felt like fallout does post-apocalyptic the best, what do you guys think?
