| I just had my very first close call! Posted: 01 May 2017 05:38 AM PDT I don't know if this will be interesting to any if you but I'm really excited and have to tell somebody. Setting: A small town South West. Daytime, clear blue sky. Context: I'm an hour into a new spawn. Maybe 10 hours total playtime. In short, I'm still getting to grips with pretty much everything. I had a child's backpack, 25 .22 rounds, 2 apples and a cleaver. That's it. I just wanted to find some boots. What happened: There were 2, maybe more of the bastards. They didn't say anything. The fucker with the blue rain cover over his large back pack just ran up to me and blasted a rifle shot from 6 feet away! " ahhhhhhhhh! Am I hit?! " I ran around the back of a bus stop nearby and he shot at that next! Then fucker number 2 turned up with a fuck off big ass axe and took a swing! Missed! Fucker! He carried in tow a couple of zs and now I'm just running in a circle with my cleaver out. I get up to blue pack fucker and swing. I hit him! Now he's running! We're all running in a tiny circle. I'm swinging my cleaver, blue is taking a shot and axeman is swinging away! This is ridiculous! I just wanted some fucking boots! I decide to run away into the town centre and of course the fuckers follow and so do the Zs. Round and round we go, same as before and I just can't seem to shake them. They flank me all the time. But then! One of them runs away with 3 or 4 Zs on his ass. My chance! I bomb it in a northerly direction and I don't think they're following. I can't hear their footsteps, just a Z breathing and whinging ( probably about being dead and everything ). I'm out of the town but it's open fields. So what, I'll just outrun the Z and " pow! " A rifle shot! And it's near, really near. The fuckers are back! " pow! " I start zig zagging through the fields but all the time aiming for one spot on the horizon where I can see a cluster of trees. Another shot, then another. And one more. Then silence. No more shots, no more Z ( maybe, I ain't looking behind me to find out till I hit them trees ), maybe the fucker shot Z? I hit the trees and see that I'm just 100 metres or so from a military outpost. I head there ( even though there won't be anything, because there never is, not for me ) and look in the tent. A scoped trumpet AND a pristine pair of black army boots! I'm currently laying prone in some trees just outside that military camp and I'm actually sweating a bit from all the commotion. You know, I wasn't sure about this game before but I've honestly never had a gaming experience quite like this. This game is amazing. It's the fact that these encounters hadn't happened before that made it so ace. My name is Lemansky in game. Please don't shoot me. | Does anyone else feel the "survival" aspect is lacking? Posted: 01 May 2017 03:23 AM PDT Just my two cents... Don't get me wrong, I love this game and have been playing since launch. I even enjoy coming on every now and then just to do some crop farming! Lately though I feel there is a lack of TRUE survival techniques like building a shelter, forge clay tiles and pottery, thatch domes etc like this: https://primitivetechnology.wordpress.com I think that before making base building, helicopters and more guns, the game should stick to the survival genre more. Something like craftable from the forest would be good, as this way it allows for veteran players and those not willing to risk finding tents to set up a self-sufficient base, as currently - even with farming, players are required to gather materials from nearby towns and stay dry during rain. It would be really nice to live off-grid in this game as that fits my play style more than running into NWAF and shooting everything. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Couple of questions about experimental.... Posted: 01 May 2017 05:52 AM PDT Started playing again, nicely geared and I have an offroad 4x4. I am making my way north to start a farm and have amassed some chicken meat. A while back I cooked it on a propane stove in a pan, it burned, I ate it anyway and got sick. Over a fire on a stick is the only way I'm going from now on. -Does chicken (or other meat) go bad? -Is it better to cook it when you get it, keep it raw, or does it even matter? | What's with the amount of violent players? Posted: 30 Apr 2017 03:44 PM PDT I can't wrap my head around the mentality behind so many players. I just had two guys chase me for 20 minutes when I had nothing. I told them I had nothing, gave them a chance to flee, hit them, but they kept chasing me. I don't get it. It's the 5th time today being killed as a bambi across 5 different servers. Is there some sort of event going on or are players just short-sighted and bored? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Posted: 30 Apr 2017 06:00 PM PDT Since I started playing DayZ, I spent most of that time aimlessly running around the map, looking for loot. Now, I've started to get more into sniping and PvP lately, but I seem to enjoy sniping a bit more than PvP. When I snipe, I'll usually camp a spot, get some picks, then move on to another spot. Lately, I can't seem to find any good spots to snipe in any of the large coastal cities like Cherno, Electro, and Berezino. Can anyone recommend some good spots for sniping in any of these cities?
