So powerful, it cannot have a single owner.

3800 | Sacred Relic | +60 Damage |
2400 | Demon Edge | +46 Damage |

6200 | Divine Rapier | +300 Damage / Passive: (4) |
When a hero carrying the Divine Rapier is killed, it is dropped. A dropped Divine Rapier cannot be destroyed by attacking it.
The Divine Rapier has two states that determine whether it is manually droppable and whether it provides a damage bonus to the carrying hero. The initial state is called Original Rapier. As soon as an enemy hero picks up the Divine Rapier, it permanently becomes Free Rapier.
Manually Droppable | Drops on Death | Damage Bonus | |
---|---|---|---|
Original Rapier | Yes | Yes | Only for purchasing hero |
Free Rapier | No | Yes | For all heroes |
Divine Rapier can be purchased by a Animal Courier, but cannot otherwise be picked up by a Animal Courier. (Thus it is not possible for a Animal Courier to ever carry a Free Divine Rapier.) If a courier carrying a Divine Rapier is killed, the Rapier is dropped. A courier can manually drop a Divine Rapier.
Although it is a very expensive item, it is the most cost-effective damage item. Keep it in mind when your team is losing, because Divine Rapier is a great last-stand item in such conditions.

The true purpose of this Item is for comebacks. If you are losing team fight, cant break or facing a superior DPS this items allows you to tilt the odds in your favor.
Best example will be Na'Vi vs Fnatic XBOCT x3 Divine Rapier.Na'Vi were losing so bad. That rapier pick allowed navi to stay in game and eventually win.
That been said this is the most game throwing item possible.i have lost a game from 50 K advantage their ancient at 300 -500 HP coz both of our Divine Rapier carries fountain dived and died without buybacks and gave them 100 sec window to rush mid take t1,t2,t3,t4 and ancient
Also for best Divine Rapier pub footage checks SingSing's steam. His Divine Rapier Blink Kunkka is really enjoyable

Pro tip: if you're playing against a Kunkka with Shadow Blade, 2 Daedalus and a Divine Rapier , do NOT, under any circumstances, push a lane together and walk behind a creep wave when you don't know where he is. The next time you see him is when you see the word "RAMPAGE" at the top of the screen.

These threads have become utterly useless, I was hoping for at least one answer that gives advise on when to buy or how to farm it from behind, instead there areonly cheap jokes

Honestly the top does have a lot of jokes just due to the hivemind reddit is. I always scroll down the first few comments to get some pretty good discussion and it does exist.
Also with your actual question, you really can't farm it behind unless you are having some really good teamfights at your base. If you think you need a Divine Rapier to really turn the game around, just save for buyback until you have the full 6200 gold.
Also really you could buy this item from coming behind or to secure a victory if you know it's REALLY secured. I would not buy this item if you only have a slight edge or if you just happen to have the money for it. Certain heroes such as Medusa or Ember Spirit do really well with Divine Rapier because of how tanky they can be or how mobile they can be and also be hitting multiple heroes at once.
Also one more tip, if you are Ember Spirit and you have two lanes of racks down and are still in the game, Divine Rapier can really help you clear up those creep waves.

It's good on Medusa and Gyrocopter because you can hit everyone in a tram fight, okay on weaver because of his gemenite attack and time lapse, and okay on Wraith King because you have reincarnate. Of course it can be good on other carries too, it's just dangerous if you care about winning.
A lot of people in this thread are saying buy it only if you're going to lose, but I have to disagree. In some games that are complete stalemates, where one teamfight will end the game, it can be good to give you an edge and win the fight and then end the game, especially on a Gyrocopter or Medusa. Apart from that, buying it as an absolute last ditch effort to win a game that you badly losing is a good idea.
I generally wouldn't ever buy it while ahead unless your team is so ahead that the enemy carry having your Divine Rapier wouldn't make any difference to the outcome.

Only 2 reasons to buy a Divine Rapier:
1)You are stomping hard and want to stomp even harder
2)You are losing and a Divine Rapier may be your last chance
Never buy it in an even game, unless you have complete faith in your team to help you when you get focused like hell.

Best advice I heard to getting this item is:
When behind: Divine Rapier
Otherwise it's too much risk to get one if you're ahead and something goes wrong, everybody has lived or heard a story where (in my case) your Faceless Void gets this because the team, not him, is stomping your enemies. Then he thinks he's god, gets stunned once, has almost no items because he rushed this after treads and Maelstrom, dies and with the Divine Rapier they recover all the lost ground and more.
If you end up getting one and you're ahead some tips:
- Let your team know that you're getting one, they may call you stupid and all that, give you other suggestions on what to build, etc. Also helps to know that they may need to free an inventory space to get this once you decide you're Rambo and die.
- This item gives you damage, not survivability. You hit hard but if you get focused, which you probably will since you have a Divine Rapier, you are probably a goner.
- Don't wander alone or with 1 teammate trying to get a pickoff using your Divine Rapier. If the enemy team has half a brain they'll probably stick together or act faster to gank you and take the item. Grouping up with a Divine Rapieris what makes you win the game.
- Better to have the Divine Rapier on your support than their carry, so have a free space and eyes open every teamfight.
