How does the current free Value Pack and the limited Premium Value Pack interact?

Posted: 08 May 2018 05:32 AM PDT

Hello, I'm thinking about buying the Premium Value Pack where you get 52 pearls for each daily login. But since it's only available until tomorrow maintenance I'd have to buy it very soon. Now I was wondering what happens if I activate it during the current free Value Pack. Does it overwrite it? Extend it? Does it work at all?

And if I souldn't use it right now during the free Value Pack, can I keep the item in my inventory until the free Value Pack is over and activate it then? Or does the unactivated Item also disappear after tomorrows maintenance?

Thanks for the help!

Mirumok Group Grind - Gear Req?

Posted: 08 May 2018 05:44 AM PDT

As the title implies, whats the current gear requirement for mirumok in a 3 man group? (its 3 man loot if I'm not mistaken now)

With all the changes in the past few months I'm wondering if it could be a lower barrier to entry grind spot than Gyfin for example. Thanks you!

[Poll] Community Thoughts on BDO Classes

Posted: 07 May 2018 11:09 AM PDT

Hi everyone!

This is the follow-up poll to the following thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/blackdesertonline/comments/8gajil/poll_results_what_class_would_you_reroll_to_if/

This is a more in-depth poll in order to get everyone's thoughts and opinions on the current classes of Black Desert Online.

The poll should takes about 5 minutes to complete. Please complete the form with as much accuracy as possible. I will be publishing the results later this week.

The goal of this is to get a rough baseline of what people in this community think of the class they are currently playing - covering the fun factor, difficulty, effectiveness, etc. This will hopefully give us a baseline of each class' ranking in each category based on the community.

Musa or Ranger? PvP and PvE?

Posted: 08 May 2018 06:50 AM PDT

currently have a 57musa and a 56ranger both seem pretty fun to play but don't know which to main. What are the pros and cons of the two? Do Ranger also need a lot of accuracy like musa? Which of the two would do good in NW/PvE Grind even under 200AP (maybe like 170-180ish AP)? And is it true that musa only shines when you got 250AP and more? tyia for anyone who could help me.

So I tired joining back in with my old character from a few months ago, but I can't move at all with her, can't use my cursor, don't have any UI. Only thing I can do is move the camera and open up the menu. Any idea on what to do?

Would like to come back playing but have a question about classes

Posted: 08 May 2018 07:48 AM PDT

Hello! I played BDO some month ago but i quitted cause my PC wasn't good enough to play smoothly. Now i'm ready to come back but i'm not sure if to continue my old character or starting a new one. My old character was a witch lv 56 but i don't feel like i want to play her anymore. I didn't enjoy so much her skills. I was thinking to switch to wizard (i like water skills lol) but i'm struggling cause i don't want to grind until 56 with the same class again :s Should i stick to Witch, switch to Wiz or ranger? (I'm a PvE player only) note: i was thinking to enjoy the game with life skills too this time, cause i only rushed the main story with the old character :x

World's first Junk Crate Simulator! There is no "best" way, only a best way for you. ~WeDidTheMath~

Posted: 07 May 2018 11:08 AM PDT

Hey everyone!

MenaceIX again. Bringing you yet another extensive and comprehensive BDO tool. If you recall my past tools they have gone above and beyond to help itemize exactly the things you do in this game. They were bundled up into the "Master Profitability Tool" which tracks hundreds of things for you to tell you exactly how much money you make every day in this game on a cash flow basis, liquid and not liquid.

So for my next trick...

I've answered one of the most debated questions of all time when it comes to trading. "What's the best way to make junk crates?" Everyone seems has an answer but as surprising as it is nobody has gotten it completely right... ruffling some feathers probably ;) but that's the fun of doing the math, there's always a better way to be discovered!

This is an example of what the tool's output looks like

Why does this matter

Because making junk crates to Artisan 2 can cost effectively up to $200-300 mil silver on average, and doing it the wrong way could cost you $600 mil or more. So doing this right is investing weeks of time and worth hundreds of millions of silver. So now you can do it right!

Factors that matter

Things like worker skills, worker uptime, and distance all come tinto play, but more importantly are your bottlenecks and your own CP efficiencies, as well as your active time and grind speed also come into play...if you didn't know! When you run the simulator and play with the factors that matter, there are some cases Trent is better than Calpheon, some cases Calpheon is better than Trent, and a case I simulated where you can starve your Bravants in Trent enough that Heidel is better than Trent! Most cases a mix turns out to be the best way. But depending on how active you are, what workers you have, you will need to use this tool if you plan on doing junk crates so you aren't hundreds of millions of silver in the hole unnecessarily.

Lets just say that when asking people on the forums for the right answer, and they give you an answer, it's the wrong one. They aren't giving you your answer, only theirs... if that makes sense.

The Tool

Located here within the Master Profitability Tool v3.1. Since the tool already tracks how you play the game and your efficiencies and cash flow, now it can tell you the best (cheapest) way for you on a least-net-negative cash flow basis over a set simulation time of completion.

Instructions

  • 1) Make sure you've filled out all green boxes on "Input Page" "Nodes" and "Trading" Tabs
  • 2) Go to the "Junk Crate Simulator" tab and fill out the green boxes: the CP you want to allocate for the task. Current trade level, desired trade level, and your XP buffs as a multiplier.
  • 3) Fill out the worker data on "Junk Crate Simulator" tab in each of the five sections you are comparing, so make sure to include any +2/+3 skill bonuses. (Note: if that worker field is gray, it means you are expected to use the Amity worker, unless you have a +3 crate worker to replace them with).
  • 4) Compare the results!

How it Works

The simulator that will take your data from the profitability tool:

  • your workers and their stats - +3 workers mean a LOT for junk crates.
  • your active income efficiency - silver/hr from grinding
  • your passive CP efficiency - silver/hr from CP invested into various things
  • your gathered materials - how much material your workers gather
  • how active you are in the game - this matters a lot.
  • how often you feed your workers - this is the single most important factor in doing junk crates.

Then it will rank the five feasible options:

  • Grana Only
  • Trent Only
  • Calpheon Only
  • Heidel Only
  • Hybrid - mix of all of the above, ranked by level% gain / day.

It then will compare all of your active and passive efficiencies, your active income rates, your material gathering bottlenecks and additional costs, and net positive cash flow on a time basis (finishing x days faster = $y/day net positive cash flow when you flip the switch on for money crates). This will tell you a to-the-penny effective cost for each, and you just do the one that is the least expensive.

Just fill out the data, look over to the right, and then it tells you the results ranked in order. Then all you do is scroll down to the "best way" field and it tells you which shops you need in the order that you need them so you can allocate the CP budget you told it you had.

Comments

Make the crates it tells you to make, then do the number of trade runs it tells you to make once you've made the crates (knock it out in one day), and then you are Artisan 2!

Note: the empirical data I had got thin in the upper levels of Artisan and through Master, so I have at this time cut off the calculation's accuracy at Artisan 2. I need more turn-in data to expand this tool further into higher trade levels, so if you have it please send it over!

Note: To get this out quickly, I used ash and copper basis for wood and ore. Further revisions will allow you to select your material but that will take a lot of time to program...these two are sort of a good choice for the simulator basis since they are "cheap" "average" "accessible" materials. Alternative materials for wood are palm, probably the best to use for wood. And for ore you can also substitute lead. The overall cost of materials is such a small part of the equation, and they fluctuate in both price and availability, therefore there is no way for a simulator to capture this. This is good enough for now to use as your baseline even if you use a different material than ash/copper, which you probably will, since the factors that matter most are worker uptime and worker skill bonuses you can assume this is a negligible variable relative to the major ones, and shouldn't matter too much when deciding which method to use when doing junk crates.

Thanks for all your feedback, and now it's time to get to work on the next big tool. Your suggestions fuel our inner-nerds and spreadsheet warrioring, so let us know what you want to see next! I'm available all week for questions and will make a series of tutorial videos on how to use the tools in more detail. See ya!

Note: All crate turn-in data is based on submissions from my twitch community, discord, and what I've found on the forums. The results are empirical so slight errors may exist, and the game may patch things as well rendering this data useless at some point. If you have turn-in data that is recent, please send it to me and I will add it to the correlation so that the regression relationship is always up to date on crates/level. Also note that there is data that exists out there that is obtained illegitimately from the game files, we intend to not support the use of this data or use it in any of our tools so we can make sure what we release to the community is well within the terms of service of the game. So please don't send me anything like that...

Hope you guys enjoy, and stay tuned for my next tool!

Revision 3.1 Patch Notes

  • "Input Page" categories modified slightly.

  • Shakatu's Seals Now Added! In efforts of trying to catalog every single consistent thing of value the game throws at you, a Shakatu's Seal value tab (hidden) was created. This is to give monetary value per day to your seals.

    • Note that the lateral move seal items (weapon swap coupons) have no real intrinsic value, even though some may consider those the "most valuable."
    • In a monetary sense, they are worth $0, but might have infinite value to some who just hate their class ;)
    • Therefore "value" is only assessed on things you acquire, not things you trade. And the highest value is shown in your daily cash flow
  • Junk Crate Simulator Added (Thanks for your patience!)

Tool can now give you YOUR answer, based on everything you do in game, your workers, your efficiencies! And not only that, your answer can be different than someone else's. All you do is the same thing you do on all other sheets, fill in the couple of green cells, fill in your worker data, fill in your CP you want to allocate to pushing junk crates. Then the simulator will rank the total effective cost of all scenarios and give you the best option for you. Best option = cheapest option effectively, because we factor in all active, passive, and other cash flow type income for a static baseline for comparison

What it does is compare five scenarios

    • Grana Only
    • Trent Only
    • Calpheon Only
    • Heidel Only
    • Hybrid Method (combination of multiple cities)

And then it compares every little detail of cost associated

      • Cost of CP Efficiency loss (from investing CP into junk shops)
      • Cost of materials beyond what this tool tells the simulator your workers already gather. You'll be buying a lot of materials btw.
      • Cost of Active Time lost to doing a run, connected to your best Active Income calculated by this tool! Example: If you avg 20 mil/hr grinding, and scenario A takes 4 runs, but scenaro B takes 5 runs, then scenario B (per hour) cost you $20 mil to do, not grinding that hour
      • Cash Value gained turning in junk crates (they give some money)
      • Cash Flow Gain of starting "money crates" faster using one scenario over the other Example: If "Trading" Tab shows you effectively net $5 mil/day from your trading-only portion of crates. Then if scenario A finishes 10 days faster than B, then that's a net positive cash flow in (effective) of $5mil * 10 = $50 mil cash in over those 10 days.

Since the simulator anchors a fixed time, all net positive and negative cash flow over this time is compared and since there is a universal baseline of cost, the "cheapest" way is the best way.

When the "best way" for the CP you want to allocate is found, then scroll down the page to see the workshops you allocate that CP to in the arranged order you need to allocate them

Where are all the life roleplaying games?

Posted: 07 May 2018 04:40 PM PDT

I'm surprised that theres still not any online life simulating roleplaying game on the market. Battle royale and survival genre both pretty much originated from ArmA mods, so I'm surprised no one has attempted to tap the roleplay market.

Roleplaying servers are all over the arma servers list, even back at the DayZ days RP was able to rival it in terms of popularity. Also RP mods were huge hit in San Andreas multiplayer and now in GTA V unofficial mp mod.

These games could be polished under proper engine and while RP mods often have specific rules (majority in place because its mod with limited control), I believe alot of this could be worked around with proper game features and you could always have community managed servers aswell.

Not only would you attract alot of players from these mods but also potentially players who enjoy simultor games, Sims or stuff like second life. Also a genre which I could see as very popular among the youtubers & streamers.
