Ways to help your friendly neighbourhood tank :D

Posted: 07 May 2018 07:07 AM PDT

Been playing tank for a nice portion of time and wanted to share a few things from my perspective and offer a few ways to help me out to help you! Essay incoming.. enjoy!

- Please dont taunt, not really a thing i see but just dont, if you use sword and shield with your build please dont use puncture, that will take the agro off me and if you're unaware you will get a nice shock, as i believe the ice/frost staff heavy is a taunt aswell?please correct me if im wrong, and ofc the undaunted inner fire skill.

-With almost all bosses there are some mechanics that target a random player, these i cannot taunt whilst in progress and rarely can interrupt, so keep your wits about you and dont blame me.

-With mobs, there's a little debate but for my opinion, they are not my problem, i will taunt/group what i can and cc/trap and help anyway i can but honestly trying to taunt about 10 or 15 mobs at once can prove a little difficult and very slow, without a group taunt its abit annoying, personally i will get the attention of anything ranged so your mages and rangers mostly, popping my reflective skill assisting with at least some damage dealing. Always funny watching a mob kill itself.

-With bosses i will always (when possible) rotate the boss away from the group pointing any forward attack away from you, so please, dont come stand next to me, i will always stay in sight of the healer but just enough so nothing coming my way will affect you. If i have to keep running in a circle to avoid you getting hit i just dont and let you learn for yourself, with group buffs, they do have some range on them so i will get them if you are stood behind the boss, dont worry about that.

-Synergies, is that spelt correct? but yeah, throw everything at me!!! i will activate your synergy all day long, aswell as getting some damage done, with probably the exception of Sorc synergies, i believe conduct and the golum ult synergy are for weapon damage so il leave them for my dps to pick up if they can, i also gain mag/stam/health back when i use them which is awesome. Stamina regen, sometimes can prove a little difficult and takes some practice with resource management, with a boss or mob that has some form of long duration attack, for example fire breathing, if i block that it can drain my stamina pretty fast, so any form of synergy, mainly the spear thing templars have, is highly appreciated, but i wont moan if not .

-Its a small thing, but something we do whilst in guild groups doing pledges or w/e but give your tank the crown/ group leader, its always nice and easier to follow your tank on the map or in front of you seeing who is who.

- Slow down a little, in most dungeons there is always one, one magika user who full sprints the entire dungeon, dude, slow down, im not gonna sprint everywhere, my stamina is important to me so im not gonna waste it because you want to finish 20 seconds faster.

- My personal favourite, let me pull, message to the DPS, us tanks have a secret super power of being able to judge our group strength, honestly, i know my limits when it comes to taking damage and sustain, and my limit of taking damage is probably 5/6x yours so dont go pull a whole room, let me pull, if you run a head, pull everything in sight and run behind me again, 2 things are gonna happen my friend, 1st im gonna laugh, then 2nd your gonna die most likely, hmm okay yeah i can grab a few mobs whilst they run passed me towards you but you are gonna take the full load of damage im afraid, my taunt is a pretty slow skill so gonna take me a few to grab the attention.

Ive probably forgot some things but this is enough of an essay as it is :D these all my personal views, take it with a grain of salt, thanks for reading and hopefully i clarified some stuff or helped. please add anything in the comments, i always love finding ways to help you guys aswell!

Edit - Thanks for all the support guys, great discussions going on in the comments, really appreciate it! One thing to clarify, i did mention about running off infront of the tank, by all means if your geared/ level and can take on a group with ease before i get there then by all means do il meet you at the boss if thats the case, but if your unsure and not really capable of doing so then please let me lead at my pace. Dont push a weaker dps and a squishy healer into a situation of running ahead and getting wiped because the higher of the group thought he could carry.

[News] Announcing The Winners Of The Daedric Dress Up Contest

How do you get 30k plus dps on a mag sorc?

Posted: 08 May 2018 03:33 AM PDT

I have a mag sorc pet build with 5 necro 4 infallible aether and zaan/ilambris monster set all in gold and best traits. I've hit a brick wall at 29k and can't seem to get past it. I don't want to use the lover stone or any other cheeses that i won't use when playing trials. I do liquid lightening, light attack, blockade of storms and switch bars then i do light attack, pet, light attack daedric prey then heavy attack and start again. Any tips will be gratefully appreciated.

How do you guys play your healer builds?

Posted: 07 May 2018 08:07 PM PDT

I recently switched from running as DPS to healer and I absolutely love the role. Keeping everyone alive with zero appreciation is great! I was just wondering what everyone else does besides spam mutagen and combat prayer? I'm trying to learn the role so i can start vet content with confidence. My main is a cp325 high elf magsorc.

Random disconnects (EU) PC

Posted: 08 May 2018 02:47 AM PDT

Is anyone else on PC (EU server) still getting random disconnects?

After the last of maintenance it seemed to go away for a while but now it's as bad as it was before the maintenance.

It's completely random, all in PVE, sometimes it's every 10 minutes and at other times I can play for hours.

Doesn't seem to be an general internet issue as voice chat never drops.

How much does a training set help exactly?

Posted: 08 May 2018 12:46 AM PDT

I recently hit 160 CP on a character and have been trying to get some alts started while enlightenment builds up for a bit. I am wondering if I should go through the trouble of crafting/acquiring sets of training gear for alts. I was under the impression that it was just a minor boost, as much of my experience would be from turning in the quests or finishing a dungeon. But I am hearing that training sets are good to get. So is it worth it to get training sets? How much time would it save in the leveling process?

Also, if it is that much of a help, should I look into grinding mobs to level the most efficiently? Or carry on with my original plan and just quest around normally like I did with my main?

Thanks!

Best PvE/PvP set combinations for Stamblade?

Posted: 07 May 2018 10:56 PM PDT

I reached CP160 recently so I've been looking at a lot of different sets, but I'm not really sure what I should be prioritizing. I'm wondering mostly for PvE but I do plan on PvPing eventually. I heard Spriggan's and Mechanical Acuity have been mentioned here and there. Should I be focusing on straight stamina? Crit? Flat damage? Also, is the Undaunted passive worth it to wear one light and heavy armor with my medium set? Or is that passive more for PvP?

ESO Automation - Making the repetitive parts less repetitive [PC]

Posted: 07 May 2018 10:13 AM PDT

My wife and I have been playing ESO now for a year and some change I think. We're in the 600s CP wise and we've gotten Cadwell's Silver. When we started, we split the crafting between consumables and equipment. I had the equipment and she had the consumables. We've since maxed all of the crafting skills regardless of who had what, and I've researched all of the traits.

Since we've started, we've been aware that there are two parts of the game. The fun bit, and the inventory game. The inventory game is the part where we have to stop doing what we're doing so that we can clean up our inventory.

When you haven't had the craft bag, you are fine with dealing with the stuff you're getting. When you get the craft bag, well, it's THE reason for ESO+. Certainly a good way to monetize it in my opinion.

Still, when you're running around and dealing with the level of items coming at you it's not too difficult to process hundreds of items in a single day. That becomes greatly repetitive and I've since found ways to automate the process to make the decisions based on criteria rather than inspecting all of the items individually. Add-ons are how you accomplish this.

Inventory Manager

When you start using Inventory Manager, you start to realize the level of time you can save by automating certain situations. I have automations that speed up an enormous amount of things. Deconstructing stuff is as easy as selecting the tab and waiting for it to finish. Selling stuff? Talk to the vendor and wait. Fencing stuff? I automatically launder things that have value, junk stuff that doesn't, and then sell the stuff that I want to. The add-on is AMAZING and is surprisingly sturdy right now.

Auto Category

For the longest time, I've used Advanced Filters to deal with the inventory. While that works most of the time, it unfortunately bugs out on some dialog boxes. I recently found out about Auto Category. Holy pewp is it everything I wanted. A collapsible portion for a set? YES! All the consumables under one collapsible thing! YEESSS! Easily re-writable rules about what is grouped together? YEEEEESSSSS! My wife is getting annoyed at how much I like this add-on. So far my favorite one is to kill the new category and replace it with "Unknown" where it shows the thing that I can learn first in the inventory. These two tools alone make dealing with selling and storing items go from time consuming to being fun.

What ways have you managed to find more time while playing the game?

PSA for console players

Posted: 07 May 2018 10:31 AM PDT

You can turn on buff and debuff timers on both you and your enemies by going to settings > gameplay and scrolling down until you see buffs you can also remove buffs that last longer than an hour, permanent buffs and those on you opponents if you want.

I've spoken to a few people who don't realise this is a feature and in my opinion it is a massive help.

EDIT: it's in settings > combat and below combat text

[PC] How is reduced res time calculated?

Posted: 07 May 2018 10:11 PM PDT

So, im just curious. New to the game and about to start pvp. I am using kags hope, so 25% off, then a resto passive for 20%, then a pvp passive for 30% (i think thats all of them). Is it additive or multiplicative? I think base cast for rez is 8 seconds, right? Forgive me if this is a dumb question, i am REALLY bad at math and also cant find the answer with google.

Master Merchant Spreadsheet Generator

Posted: 08 May 2018 03:31 AM PDT

Because I got tired of exporting my MM data using Lua, I quickly put together a tool which takes MM data files (MM00Data.lua-MM15Data.lua) and uses some sketchy parsing logic to turn them into a CSV which you can then open in Excel or Google Sheets to do analytics on your sales data. So far, it works with other people's sales data, but there may be edge cases that break it.

It doesn't submit your MM data to the server, all of the processing is done locally within your browser.

The tool is at https://esotoolset.github.io/ and the source code is at https://github.com/esotoolset/esotoolset.github.io but it's all JavaScript so you can view the source in your browser as well to confirm.

Go to the page, click the file attachment button, shift-click all of your sales files and add them to the page and it should spit out a CSV.

Kid used my debit card. Trion will not do a refund. Is there ANYTHING I can say/do to get them to change their mind?

Posted: 07 May 2018 01:59 PM PDT

My tween daughter is big into gaming. We played Guild Wars 2 a lot together so when she said she wanted to play ArcheAge, I didn't think much of it. She did great in GW2. I gave her one of my old AA accounts and we had a good time playing.

I hadn't played on that account since like 2016. I didn't even think to check for payment methods still hooked up to it because I had given her APEX to get a sub. I just got my bank statement for the month of April. She ended up racking up a $300 bill on not only my bank account but another $200 on my mother's paypal account as well.

I'm $300 in the hole now. That was grocery money for the month. I honestly don't know how we're going to make it.

I spoke to the bank and they said they don't do charge backs. It's a shitty little local bank. We live in central Texas, aka the middle of nowhere, and we don't have big banks. They said to talk to the point of purchase. I begged Trion for even a partial refund through several emails and they say it's not their policy to do refunds. Even after several escalations, nada.

Is there anything else I can do? Is there something I can say to Trion to change their minds. Can I call the police? I don't even know. I'm legitimately in panic mode. I have $20 in my account to last until the 25th.

Housing - How to get a mine ?

Posted: 07 May 2018 05:29 AM PDT

Hello here,

I try to lern about the game. I did see people with Mine in they house. I did get myself a mine for my scarecrow because I got 50 000 minning efficiency, but I would like to know how you can get this upgrade in your house.

I did understand some basic as remodel, I did get a 24*24 Manor, but I've only 3 "good" choice to upgrade, such as armorer, apothecary and something for tradepack.

Could you please help me to get an housing with mine ? Also, is that as expensive as other house transformation ?

Thank you !

Time to throw staff away as mage?

Posted: 07 May 2018 05:30 AM PDT

Hey guys,

With the recent update on Korea it seems that staff and 2 handed weapons in general will be nerfed once again. From what I saw they will lose the defense penetration passive and be slower than dual weild.

Will there be any advantages of using a staff anymore since the new mage meta is just drop back flamebolt and that relies on attack speed.

EVE Online Anniversary Gifts!

Anniversary Gifts!

Posted: 07 May 2018 09:54 AM PDT

Yesterday was a momentous day for New Eden and an incredible achievement for the most awesome community in online gaming, as EVE Online celebrated her fifteenth birthday..

Your epic journey is one that has spawned many unique challenges along the road, and is one that we've had to try our hardest to keep up with and here at CCP. As the custodians and janitors of the epic sandbox that is New Eden, we couldn't be more proud of the incredible narrative that our pilots have written over the course of the last decade and a half.

Year after year, you continue to raise the bar. Year after year, your thirst for conflict and the stories that you write surrounding your lust for interstellar domination continue to inspire all forms of media, inspiring us to do more, and to provide more tools for you to create and destroy on an even grander scale.

From all of us, to all of you, thank you sincerely, from the bottom of our hearts, for embracing New Eden and taking us on a journey that continues to be the most epic emergent space opera in gaming history, and here's to the next fifteen years of pew pew, then many more beyond!

As part of the fifteenth anniversary celebrations, those who've been active in the past 30 days have been gifted a number of ships and items based on clone state.

These items will all remain in your redeeming systems until August 7th, so be sure to pick them up before they expire then.

Alpha pilots active in the last 30 days have been gifted:

Fifteenth Anniversary XV branded capsule SKIN
Apotheosis class SoCT shuttle
Fifteenth Anniversary XV branded Apotheosis SKIN

Omega pilots who've been active in the last 30 days have been gifted:

Fifteenth Anniversary XV branded capsule SKIN
Apotheosis class SoCT shuttle
Fifteenth Anniversary XV branded Apotheosis SKIN
Sunesis class SoCT Destroyer
Fifteenth Anniversary XV branded Sunesis SKIN
Gnosis class SoCT Battlecruiser
Fifteenth Anniversary XV branded Gnosis SKIN
All new Praxis class SoCT Battleship
Fifteenth Anniversary XV branded Praxis SKIN

In addition to this, all pilots who were active during this time have been gifted a limited edition fifteenth anniversary XV branded shirt and cap, regardless of clone state.

Once you've redeemed your gifts, you can also check out EVE Updates for more information on the ongoing Fifteenth Anniversary event, Operation: Conscious Interruption[updates.eveonline.com], and more details on the summer expansion, Into The Abyss[updates.eveonline.com].

Please Note:

Due to a minor scripting error during the deployment of these gifts, a small number of accounts that were due to receive Alpha gifts did in fact receive Omega gifts instead.

This issue has since been rectified. Those who had erroneous gifts in their redeeming systems that were unclaimed have had them replaced with the correct gifts. Those few who were lucky enough to claim the erroneous gifts can continue to enjoy them.

RimTogether Update #0

Posted: 07 May 2018 06:43 AM PDT

Yo.

As many people probably didn't take any of my other posts seriously (lol). Here is the first/zeroth update that I'll try and keep fairly regularly, hopefully they'll provide good feedback, reorganisation of priorities and help establish paths forward.

If there's no update within a few weeks an out of the blue comment should get my attention. Thanks /u/IntrovertedIntrovert

So. Here we go.

I actually wrote this 2 weeks ago so I'll tag the things that have been updated old and new. (<an update>)

     The Good

  • (Fixed) A Job starting exception has been solved/"figured out", as in I now know why it was happening.

  • The network library can handle a fair amount of traffic.

  • While multithreading might not be needed, the network points create a good area to create a thread pool to offload any packet processing. Muh fps... Not the game, just the mod.

  • Blueprints/frames/buildingModules are actually assigned/owned by faction. This solves a problem of people just deconstructing or cancelling another players buildings, instead you have to break/burn and pillage your way in.

  • (Update) Job Packet Serialisation/Deserialisation streamlining.

  • (Update) Fix minor logic bugs

  • (Update) Started/decided on an method for state sync. Gif #1 shows the start and ending of jobs is handled even when one client is running at 2x speed while the other is not.

  • Currently no forseeable roadblocks. But then again it's the unknown ones that cause the problems...

  • Fixed a hilarious bug where the game would hard crash. Wait...

     The Bad

  • (Fixed) Certain Jobs don't start, mainly because their start arguments are apparently wrong. Strange stuff as the previous exception doesn't fire.

  • (Shown in Gif #1) Due to the nature of the game, a Remote Pawns pathing can be different if their starting position is slightly de-synced, while this doesn't provide much of a problem for simpler tasks i.e. just wandering about, it causes problems when a "complex" or multi step Job is allocated.

  • Apparently weather is actually randomly generated to some degree. Balls.

  • (Thought i fixed but apparently not) Pawns on initial client connect can spawn outside the map as I'm currently just using a random placement for testing.

  • Can't attach a debugger and I still suck at using a video editor. :(

     The Ugly

  • While the network library can handle quite a bit, there possibly may be a data throughput problem.

  • Uncertainty of Client side data handling queuing/pooling. The packet handler is turning out to be doing a lot more work that previously thought.

  • Not altering core/source code in the interest of mod compatibility makes things a little more tricky.

  • (Branching out into optimised packets) Job Packets for complex jobs are relatively large. Need to cull.

  • (State sync may get a little messy in handling) May have to babysit the job handling on more complex jobs.

Gif #1; An explicit example of State Sync

You'll notice the other pawns movements are mismatched due to the time speed difference used to prove the sync works :)

Cheers.

I also couldn't find anything on the forums or this sub, and I was wondering if anyone knows what happened to the mod.

Confession Time: God Mode Abuse

Posted: 08 May 2018 12:41 AM PDT

Ever since I've discovered god mode it's been hard to resist the urge to pause the game and layout foundations for my colony. I love building and setting up rooms the way I want them too without having a resource cap. I've set personal rules i.e. mainly use granite blocks and wood for base building. I don't go mega crazy and drop alpha poly walls. I started off using god mode for mining. If you don't have the right pawns mining can waste hours for the tiniest of progress. Does anyone else have the urge?

After playing primarily on 'easy mode' in temperate forests and using the permadeath mode with rough difficulty to give just a little challenge while allowing 'pretty' bases and not forcing me to prioritizetoo much, i think it's time to go for a harder run...

Hence i just started my first ever tribal start, first ever game with Medieval times, RimCuisine and CE, on the first selected tile (got flat tundra with both river and road, so lucky me...), went up to intense difficulty, set there to be 30 odd factions, most hostile and of all tech levels, and allowed myself to reroll only one pawn... while it's no Rand Extreme ice sheet, should be a heck of a step up. Now to watch it all burn down while i flounder in the learning curve.
