One Little Detail That Really Sells The Immersion For Me 7 Days To Die

One Little Detail That Really Sells The Immersion For Me

Posted: 07 Aug 2018 10:40 AM PDT

The simple fact that going up steep hills is slow going, and the fact that going downhill is speedy is one of my favorite things about this game. I find my body sometimes physically straining when my character is climbing steep hills and such. Anybody else feel this way?

dedicated server can't save

Posted: 08 Aug 2018 12:00 AM PDT

I'm running a 7 days server on linux, and whenever I close the server everything is wiped. Is there a way to actually save in this game? My friends and I had a good time and I shut down the server, and the next day we were really bummed to see all our progress gone. Seems weird that there's no auto saving, it might be a deal breaker for us.

Screamer Defense Pyramid question

Posted: 07 Aug 2018 08:11 PM PDT

I built a really big pyramid over my heat room. The heat room is at bottom depth and the pyramid starts directly above it from ground level 15 blocks high. Concrete with steel surfaces. I hadn't seen any screamers in a very long time. Full forges, mixers, fires, a couple workbenches and a chemistry station making gas. Nothing.

I started a major expansion and am getting screamers every few minutes with the auger. I was building a massive concrete floor. Should I build the walls first? Do biters spawn on player made blocks like a massive concrete floor?

Which PvP server would you recommend?

Posted: 07 Aug 2018 01:18 PM PDT

Hey all! I'm currently in the process of coming back to 7 days to get ready for the next alpha release. I normally spend my time playing in PvP and I'd like to know which ones are decent to play on.

On a side note, does anyone know if the new alpha is fixing the under map exploit that allows the player to see every underground base?

Zed isn't falling into my pits...

Posted: 07 Aug 2018 07:02 PM PDT

Ive mad a good deep fall pit, still in the early stages but ive had 2 hordes walk by and no zeds fell in.

After the 2nd passed me, I went and got their attention and fell into the pit to see if they would fall as well. No Dice.

is there a limit the AI sees to falling into pits? My pit is a good 20m deep, should it be 10? 8? 6m down?

Happy Hunting Everyone.

Scavenging Skill Question

Posted: 07 Aug 2018 02:55 AM PDT

I've looked in a few places, including the wiki and searching reddit and I was unable to find a decent answer.

What do the Scavenging Skill and Quality Joe actually do? Is it simply a flat +## bonus to quality on any rolled loot? Because surely it does more. I never find anything 300+ (except items that don't rely on the skill like engines, batteries and wheels salvaged with a wrench) at the very start of the game but with 70+ points in scavenging and a few in quality Joe I start getting 500+ stuff regularly. But that isn't a direct addition, surely? Does raw level increase loot quality or is the maths different to what I think?

Also, do either skill affect the type or quantity of loot? Or just the quantity.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. If this was posted before, I humbly apologise but I couldn't find good answers.

A neat game play gen Idea.

Posted: 07 Aug 2018 08:34 AM PDT

I came up with this neat idea that I'd like to get your thoughts on about adding to the type of world gen that's currently in the game.

My idea is to have three types of world gen types. Living Decay: This world gen type has most structures intact however are prone to cave ins. Removing one block can send the entire structure to fall, this would be a some what rare chances of happening. Lootables are a bit higher than normal as most of the world has just falling into the zombie apocalypses. Water, Wood and weapons are easy to come by however mostly in bad to good state.

State of Decay: Generating this type of world would put you into a world that has seen much worse of the zombie virus. Antibiotics have less of a working effect on you the more you take, a sign the virus is getting use to the antibiotics, to the point where you will die no matter what, makes for harder gameplay. More run down structures and more aggressive zombies, zombies that are harder to lose site of you. Loot will be harder to gather as the world has been looted by many people since the setting of the world gen is set later into the zombie apocalypses. Weapons are also limited, harder to find them but once you have you can easily craft them.

Die Hard: A generation for the most experienced players whom are seeking more out of the normal gameplay... structures are mostly if not all are run down to the ground, super hard to find generated shelter, finding ammo and guns are hard, must survive with hand weapons such as a knife, blunt weapon or a bow. Zombies are more harder to kill as they can grab your arm as you attack to stop your attack and bite you. Most times taking Antibiotics will not stop the infection if the virus infects your body. However players will have a 15 seconds waiting period to quickly take Antibiotics however this will only effect how bad the end result will be, not taking any antibiotics will cause you to die within 2 in game days. However if you manage to take antibiotics within said 15 seconds you'll be very weak and very slowly recover, will take a 5 to 7 days to fully recovers but if you get bitten during the recovery stage and get infected, it will kill you in the same day. There are some good sides, your body will require less food to survive as there will be less food around but a lot of water, natural materials will be abundant as most humans have died out.

These are the ideas I've come up with that I thought would be a neat idea, these are ideas so anyone will welcome to share their thoughts. Have a good day.

Online PVP, hiding beyond the RED !

Posted: 07 Aug 2018 08:14 AM PDT

I found out you can get past the Radiation Zone by going through the water in A16. Made it possible for me to build an epic bunker full of goods on an pretty hardcore PVP server!

For the bunker, see imgur link

(PS4) New player here!

Posted: 07 Aug 2018 08:06 AM PDT

I'm a huge fan of survival style games so I grabbed this game to itch a scratch, so to speak.

However, I feel overwhelmed by the death lurking around every corner and I'm looking for any and all tips you can give to a noob to the game. I just survived the first blood moon by building a small base surrounded by spikes and hiding down by the bed rock, but I'm starving and thirsty.

What are the best ways to get money, good gear, food and water?

How do I sustain effectively?

7 Days to Die: Intro Base Build in Navezgane County

Posted: 07 Aug 2018 12:13 PM PDT

Downvotes incoming.

Posted: 06 Aug 2018 07:58 AM PDT

I wanted to try and say this as politely as I could, but I couldn't find a way that seemed fitting.

A lot of you a just a bunch of sniveling entitled self absorbed children.

The audacity that you guys have to come on reddit and complain about the lack of communication and development is ridiculous.

I'm 29, i'm not that old, and I remember purchasing a game and it came on a CD.. for all of you who don't are about to post question face emoji's... that means all the data came on a round disk that you had to insert into your computer. (Read sardonically)

You bought and game and you played the game. If you liked it.... great! You then waited patiently for a year or so for the next expansion to come out and then you had to pay more money to buy new content and improvements to the game. If you didn't like it.. well that sucked.. it sat in your closet and you didn't play it...

What the hell happened to gamers?

This game is amazing. There is a reason it has sold literally millions of copies. Not because it sucks, but because even with all of its issues.. at its core.. its a freaking amazing game.

It's rich and expansive. If you're getting bored of the game its not a problem with the game, its a problem with your imagination. Don't like the world? make a new one. Think the game is too easy... up the difficulty and don't cheese. Stop nerd poling, stop creating infinite wood loops, stop turning up the brightness, turn loot respawn off, turn zombies up, turn on zombies always run. Force yourself to survive by restarting after every death. Choping some wood and get rolled up on by a pack of wolves.. shit...dead... that sucks... gotta restart.. it makes the game way different.

Hell I'm going to start a game soon called "Finders Keepers" where i'm not allowed to craft any tools, so I can only use what I find from loot.

If the regular game isn't enough for you... download one of the dozens of FREE mods that have been created and play it that way. There are tons of quality mods that change the game in drastic ways, creating a whole new experience for those that use them.... again.. FREE.

People just want shit for nothing and complain when they don't get it immediately... its ridiculous.

I get it. The game has its issues.. Zombies run in circles, and the sound dynamics are off, and there are some graphic glitches and the the MP game mode is a bit wonky.

I'm not saying the game doesn't have its problems and can't be improved.. but it is being improved. Go back and watch some of the older videos from earlier patches. The game look like original doom. It was hideous.

And if you purchased it then.. you have years of content creation, improvements to the game, for free.

Same thing if you bought it two years ago or even this year. The game is being improved. Go look at the dev blog.. the game is looking better and AI is being improved, combat is changing... and guess what.. they aren't asking you to fork over more than the $10 most of us paid for the game anyway. And lets be real.. a year since the last update is not all that long. Coding/world building takes time, especially when your updating so much as A17 is.

If you don't like it then.. yeah that sucks.. you paid for a game that you aren't that into.. boo hoo. Wait until the free improvements come... or just don't play it again. That's life. Everything isn't going to be catered specifically to what you want it to be.

I'm just so sick of people coming on here and complaining about how horrid it is that the FREE UPDATE is taking so long when TFP is not even obligated to update it at all. We bought into an early access game and when we did, we knowingly entered into a game that may not be finished or updated. Yet for years TFP has updated the game and is continuing to do so. Maybe not as fast as we may like.. but they still are.. and even if they left it at A16 its still one of the top 100 games on steam.

And please if one of you idiots talk about how we deserve it because they have millions of dollars blah blah blah.. that's how business works. TFP like every other company in the world wants/needs to make money. And just because they do doesn't mean you deserve anything because of it. You got what you paid for. The game.. and that's all you are entitled to. Anything they give us beyond that is gravy.

Edit #1- List of updates for those that are curious. https://7daystodie.com/forums/showthread.php?74084-Developer-Diary-Alpha-17&p=798778&viewfull=1#post798778

Edit #2- Peeps keep talking about it being and "uncompleted game". Honest curious question-What would the completed game look like to you?

Also.. if an "unfinished game" is getting played by people for hundreds of hours and has sold millions of copies.. isn't that a sign that the dev's are doing things correctly not the other way around?

Edit #3- I'm not a butthurt fan boy as some have stated below. I just started playing this game this year. I'm not butt hurt because people rag on the game. I'm just honestly upset by the attitude of some people today. Please feel free to browse my comment history on other games and pages and see that this isn't the first time I've posted things similar to this... hence why I titled it the way I did. I knew what to expect. :)

PS4 Newbie

Posted: 06 Aug 2018 09:49 PM PDT

I know it's not the ideal platform, I just don't have the disposable income to put a PC together atm. Is there any tips or tricks for a new player? My longest run has been 20 minutes so far. It looks like a great game and I love watching people play it but I can never seem to catch on to the learning curve

Difference between alpha versions

Posted: 06 Aug 2018 01:50 PM PDT

I read in a few peoples posts that Alpha 16 is pretty terrible and a mess compared to other version. My question is, what was so different between 15 and 16 that it turned out so bad? What was, in your opinion, the best or worst alpha? Any features that you liked that got cut or any that you wish did earlier?

Just trying to get an idea of the previous versions of 7D2D
