The "Can't do anything" bug thread Posted: 13 Aug 2018 12:41 PM PDT Can't move in your HotS game? Don't have access to your abilities and talents? Here's what you can do, while the game is still going.
That's all. If none of the above helped, then you can't probably reconnect to the game and be able to play. This is the end of a quick help. Now to the topic. There is a bug in the game right now(after the last Whitemane patch), which prevents you from doing anything in the game. This is what it looks like: You can move your mouse, but you can't click anything - neither left nor right mouse clicks are working. There's no abilities, no hero portrait, no talents. You can use chat, pings and "tab" menu. Sometimes you can use "Esc" menu, sometimes you can see hp/mana(resource) bar. When it occurs? Bug commonly happens right after reconnect occurs. How to reproduce? For some people it always follows the reconnect, but there are a lot of reports from people who experienced this bug, that in other games they had reconnects and there were no bug. Above(at the start of the topic) you can see the ways to solve this bug from Blizzard. Sources: Solution 1, Solution 2 ,Solution 3. Thank you Kiemmaki and Huginncord for providing them. Known ways to prevent this bug from happenening to you:(Well, they are mostly speculations, but if this bug really bothers you they might help): 1) Don't get reconnects. This means that you can't alt+tab(minimize, etc) in the middle of loading screen and you probably can't run another heavy programs while the game is running. 2) Run "Scan and repair" every time before the game session(it seems enough for 3-4 games) 3) Some people report that they had no problems playing on different accounts. (EU/US change for the same account too) That's all. Blizzard Support is working on this issue. No information about leaver penalty that comes with this bug. No information about lost ranked points too. Let's try to help Blizzard to solve this issue. You can do that by leaving a comment with following information: 1) What happened before this bug appeared? (Was it reconnect or something else?) 2) Did this bug happened to you every time you had to reconnect to the game(after Whitemane patch went live)? 3) How many times did you experience this bug? 4) How many games you played on a newest(Whitemane) patch? (optional) 3) Were you able to use a menu hotkey "Esc"? 4) Were you able to see your hp/mana bars? 5) What actions did you try to resolve this bug? (0-4 or something else) 6) Was you able to resolve the bug? (if yes, what helped?) I will try to add new information when it becomes available. It's a bug solving thread, so other comments with more in-depth instructions or other ways to solve it will be appreciated, but please leave your frustration in another specialized thread. Posted: 13 Aug 2018 06:41 AM PDT I'm in silver 4 and it's really frustrating when you know your role as a hero and have to abandon it to clean up messes that your team ignores. I mostly play with my plat. 2 friend who coaches me so I think I know the general strategies or the game (I'm not perfect by a long shot though) and I will constantly have to leave the team as a healer to deal with hard pushing Xuls, Zagaras, or even just basic soaking because my overly aggressive team will want to team fight a level tier down when minions are building up in other lanes. TLDR: I think ranking should take into account the role you played and how well you played it instead of just a win lose system [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Aug 2018 11:05 AM PDT I've been playing Zul as my main DPS pick ever since the rework, even when he lost a lot of popularity with the initial nerfs (I admit I miss the CDR on W). With the amount of time I've put into him, I figured I'd write up an appreciation letter for him (and thus for Blizzard). The main reason I love Zul is how satisfying playing him feels in most games. The design of his baseline quest makes perfect sense considering his playstyle, and achieving each of the milestones marks a huge turning point in how efficiently you can fight each game. In addition to that, I personally like picking Headhunter, which adds an additional mechanic which is really satisfying to play with. Zul always feels powerful when you know what you're doing and get the scaling going. In addition to his scaling and progression, you never feel like you can just afk your way to a victory, since there's a lot of strategy and mechanics involved. Every time you hit that stacked up W to instantly zone out the enemy team and possibly deal a huge amount of damage really makes you feel like a killing machine. Never mind the satisfaction of landing a good guillotine finisher. Despite feeling extremely powerful when being played, Zul never feels like he's unbalanced or utter bullshit. Despite having a huge damage output, if you get killed by a Zul, you can 95% if the time just blame yourself. Unlike Chromie, you don't get bursted 100 to 0 out of sight range, but rather you died because you decided to commit in the wrong spot, or you engaged without proper peel, or you've just screwed up your early game and let him get free stacks to scale out of your reach. There's always counterplay, whether that be careful positioning to avoid stacks, blinds, CC or a counterpick to work around his lack of mobility. Blizzard, thank you for Zul'jin, he's my favourite troll pick <3 [link] [comments]

Blizz, what's the chance that the draft can be added to a replay? Posted: 13 Aug 2018 04:18 PM PDT There are times when members of the community reach out for other people to review how they might be able to improve in the game. While the replay file does a good job of showing us actual gameplay I feel like there is a major component missing and that is the draft. Learning how to draft can certainly help a person improve but there is no way currently to review that process with someone or a coach. Is this something that can be added in? [link] [comments]
[Suggestion] Random announcer option Posted: 13 Aug 2018 02:35 PM PDT I have a lot of announcers by now, but usually just use the same ones over and over. I would really like to have the option to just choose "random announcer" which would give me one of my unlocked announcers randomly. That would lead to some variety without me having to manually choose one. What do you think? [link] [comments]

Learn the difference between good calls and bad opponents Posted: 13 Aug 2018 01:24 PM PDT So many times I see teammates making really bad calls, that only end up working because our opponents are worse than we are. Just because it paid off and you won, does not mean it was the right call to make. Poor decision making and good luck doesn't make you a better player. [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Aug 2018 11:31 AM PDT Hello everyone! Therefore, I decided to start up my own team to see if there are players out there who feel like me, that want to see if it really works to learn the game along with a nice group of players. And make the absolute best of what you have. To see how far it goes. I am looking for adult (mature) players, with adults, I mean that you havea grown up mindset. Yet cheerful and fun ofc! What is I want to do?
Who is it I'm looking for?Your current rank doesnt matter as I am a firm beliver of progress together, not solo performence. This means no one is riding the high horse because of their current ranks, we play as a team and fall as a team.
Who am I? My name is Jens I am 33 years old and played games since I could hold a controller. I played WOW from release and ran a very successful guild from Vanilla and through TBC. A project I gave up on because of people's unwillingness to agree and get along with people. And ended up leaving the game altogether. I live in Sweden, and because of this finding people in EU to play with is what Im after for timezones to match up better as well. I'm a person who loves to go all in on things and can give up incredibly much to be as good as I can at whatever I am doing. I work as support technician and educator. Hence, I think I possess a pretty good ability to lead others, in areas I feel comfortable in.Ive played Hots since release, and I've played a lot of Hero League, etc. which just made me tired of people's miserable way to cooperate or should I say NOT cooperate. I'm far from a professional player, but I think I have over-medium understanding of the game. But I would like more help from other players to learn more. Like most who play, I play all roles. But in a team I would see myself as Ranged Flex or Melee Flex I choose not to specialize before I have a complete team to build the roles on. Thus I'm currently looking for roles I do not play and of course enough players for a complete team. When we practice and play and things are not going well, we discuss what we could do better and try to build on this! We will almost play every day and the gaming happens when it suits everyone but usually at night! (CET-time) Naturally there is breaks of IRL occurences and such. We are not superhumans and we do have real life jobs, girlfriedns, boyfriends etc. We communicate in Discord as it works for both voice and chat The following roles are sought: For interest contact me via PM [link] [comments]
Give us an option to end games with an AFK/Leaver/AI Posted: 13 Aug 2018 10:44 AM PDT Especially holiday season is so full of afk, leavers etc for whatever reason. If you have to play every 2nd to 3rd game with an AI it just kills all the fun in hots for me. [link] [comments]

Can we please finally get a try mode/practice mode that isn't ONLY accessible through the shop? Posted: 13 Aug 2018 12:42 AM PDT It could very well be at its place as a game mode in the "PLAY" menu. Or just anywhere as long as we don't have to simulate buying a hero in the collection in order to access try mode, this is just ridiculous. Also, we need to be able to change our hero directly within try mode, similarly to how we're able to change ally and opponent hero, how come this isn't a thing yet? Thank you, have a nice day. Unpopular Opinion: I like where new Chromie is at. Posted: 13 Aug 2018 11:51 AM PDT If you go ahead trying to play her at any map or at any time like before then yeah it ain't that good. She's not at that stupid level anymore. But as a high level player, I'm not naive enough to listen to everyone and the "she's terrible" words being spread around. That's a dramatic oversimplification of what's really going on here. The things I really like about her now:
I'm coming from a different place than the majority of y'all so I can understand how I might get downvoted to hell for feeling good about new Chromie. Let me tell you.. I hated old Chromie. Was a ridiculous hero; and as such getting in a few wins with this new Chromie feelsgoodman and I wanted to share it with y'all cause I am not happy about the word being spread around. I feel like it ain't right. The stats are awful for wins, no doubt that is statistically true, but I still feel like breaking it down to "she's just terrible now" is NOT the right answer (in my own experience so far). I like it. Thank you Blizzard! [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Aug 2018 07:48 AM PDT I'm curious what everyone's thoughts are on when and how to choose which support to play. Looking to share a little bit of my knowledge and to try to pick up others' to expand my draft skills. I often support and I got really used to Rehgar's playstyle back in the self-Ancestral days. Since he's in a good spot again right now I've found that I can almost blind pick him and win most of my games (9-1 so far with him this season in mid diamond). I don't like him against Ana or Arthas, but it's manageable if I draft near the top and they get drafted at the end. Are there any specific friendly comps, enemy comps, maps, etc. where any support should be avoided or where they shine? Looking for any tips, ideas, or opinions. This is usually my thought process when choosing the best support: Li Li: Enemy team has a very strong or multiple AA heroes, especially Raynor or ZJ If I don't need Li Li I feel that usually Rehgar is my go to, but if he's not available, this is usually my thought process: Alexstrasza: On Alterac, Volskaya, or Shrines and cleanse isn't too necessary (like if I have Jo or Garrosh as tank) Kharazim: Racing on BoE or against Garrosh to cleanse his Q initiation in the late game Uther: I'm against heavy dive (especially Genji) or sometimes to enable Dragon Blade Genji on my team (I don't have very much success with this) Ana: To counter Rehgar or Alexstrasza (though I think AoE heroes like KT counter her harder) Stukov: I'd probably only pick Stukov if I was last pick and needed to interrupt Mosh Deckard: My go to if none of the above are needed I'm not 100% sure where Whitemane fits into the comps yet. She certainly has very high HPS and can have great sustain if you don't have to spam Q to keep someone up. I also haven't gotten quite used to her Fanatical Power talent, so I'm wary about drafting her effectively. Any thoughts on when to draft her would be helpful. Again, I'm just interested in everyone's opinion, thoughts, etc Cheers! [link] [comments]

Seeing this just makes me really wish that Reinhardt will be the next Overwatch hero Posted: 13 Aug 2018 10:24 AM PDT
[Hero Concept] Vol'Jin (Warcraft Support) Posted: 13 Aug 2018 08:48 PM PDT General Design Vol'Jin plays like a support version of zul'jin. He has good healing, crowd control, and zone control, and get betters at these the closer he is to death (the less Health he has). I think this design is perfect for Vol'Jin because:
Pros:
Cons
TRAIT: SPIRIT BARGAIN [D] Activate to have basic abilities cost Health instead of Mana. Can be activated or deactivated at-will. Passive: Vol'Jins basic abilities are improved according to current Health percentage. This works very similar to Zul'Jins trait, except that each ability is improved differently from having lower Health.
HEALING SURGE [Q] Cooldown: ~8 seconds. Heal target ally for X. All allies between Vol'Jin and the target are healed for 75% of that value. Also heal Wards. Spirit Bargain: Healing increased by 1% for every 1% of maximum Health missing. This works like a healing version of Alarak's Lightning Surge. You want to have as many allies between you and the target.
HEXING CONCOCTION [W] Cooldown: ~14 seconds. Throw a flask that explodes in a poisonous gas if it hits an enemy on its way, or when it hits the target area. The explosion deals X damage each 0.5 second to all enemies hit and slows them by 15% for 2 seconds. Enemies in the inner area are also polymorphed for the duration. Spirit Bargain: Inner area radius is increased by 1% for every 1% of maximum Health missing. Imagine Brightwing's Q, but the inner area polymorphs the enemies. I think polymorphing enemies is a vital part of Vol'Jins fantasy but this mechanic plays differently from Brightwing's polymorph.
SERPENT WARD [E] Cooldown: ~5 seconds. Places a Ward that attacks nearby enemies, dealing X damage per second. Heroes damaged by this ability also deal 5% less damage for 1 second. Lasts 6 seconds. Spirit Bargain: Increase Ward's duration by 1% for every 1% of maximum Health missing. This should have a low cooldown and, when Vol'Jins health is low, long duration, so that he can annoy the enemies with zone control.
BIG BAD VOODOO [R1] Cooldown: ~100 seconds Channel for up to 3 seconds. While channeling, and for an additional duration equal to the time channeled, all allied Heroes and Wards in a huge area around Vol'Jin have 50 Armor. Vol'Jin does not receive the bonus and is revealed while channeling. The longer you channel, the longer it lasts. Also, the area should be big (like from the bot treasure to Blackheart, radius).
SHADOW SHUFFLE [R2] Cooldown: ~30 seconds. Target an allied Hero with lower current Health percentage. Vol'Jin swaps Health percentage with the target. Passive: While Vol'Jin is under 30% maximum Health, basic abilities recharge 100% faster. This is inspired by Vol'Jins Hearthstone card but it fits the design so well. He can burst heal an ally in expense of his own Health. I believe the passive benefit should exist to balance with the other heroic.
Talents suggestions in the comments. [link] [comments]
