I think Anet should organize more events like killing 5000 Crown Pavillion bosses

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 04:08 AM PDT

Like having 100k players killing Tequatl in idk, a week and stuff like that.

Even if the rewards are not super good, i felt motivated in participating at boss blitzes and would definetely participate to stuff like maps meta events(which could revive some dead maps)and world bosses.

Commanders... I salute you..

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 03:09 PM PDT

I've been playing GW2 for a month or two now, coming from playing BDO where I'm used to constant PvP and any time you're out in the open world you view every other player with suspicion expecting them to flag and contest any spot.. they may not be killing fast enough to fill half a rotation but they'd rather flag up than party or share.

In a few years of playing that game outside of my guild, I rarely saw others helping out each other or wanting to group up.

I'm only just starting to experience GW2 end game as I took my time and enjoyed the levelling up process and story slowly… only get to experience that first time the once right? Love, love, love the story and some of the characters (looking at you Tybalt and Taimi).

Silverwastes

This was my first real taste of running around in a big group and was such fun, not that I had much of a clue what was going on especially when I looked around and the 50+ people that there a moment or two ago seemed to just vanish into thin air…. it was like a scene from an old western with just me another random newbie staring at each other, the sand and a tumbleweed… he clearly new as little as me as both asked where everyone went.

It reminded me of the Top gun shower scene - Where'd they all go? Where'd whooooo goo? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_IiRqTlRPI

I can laugh about it now but it confused the hell out of me at the time. Happened again the next time and opted to google to find out about the Breach… didn't I just stoopid then!! Well figured most of that meta now still not quite sure how to know which of the 5 breach bosses are alive there you go. Still I've joined various groups now running the meta and love sprinting around as group together for the meta and chests afterwards, thank you for organising that commanders.

Triple Trouble

I've failed this quite a few times before asking if anyone ever accomplishes it, someone replied and suggested I join the organised run at 9pm that night by OpenCommunity guild I think it was (apologies if that's not the right group). Wow though what a difference…teamspeak, buff foods and a coordinated effort.

It was so helpful to a newbie like me to have someone helpful explaining what to do and when and to take their time to help organise all this for people, it's alien to me for others not to just want to gank and PVP me still.

Dailies and events

I see almost daily mesmers flagging up the mentor tag and standing at the entrance to jumping puzzle to help each other out with portals, or people using the commander/mentor tag to show where events are for the daily.

Not so Secret - My Saviour and Hero

I was working through the dive master achievement as I need mastery points, was enjoying exploring the world and seeing the sights and screenshots of my character… a big tall Norn female Guardian. Then I came across the single most evil and sadistic puzzle I've ever come across, 4 hours I tried this thing and even used a level 80 boost from buying HoT to roll a mesmer to try it with the portals too.

My god was it frustrating and honestly my other half was killing herself laughing at some of the colourful language being shouted at the computer. Thankfully this little asuran mesmer called "Stop Mezzin With Me" (love the name) obviously spotted my struggles and decided to take pity on me (and trust me he picked me up and resurrected me over and over as I fell repeatedly and portalled me back to where I was again).

He never asked for anything and was only there to help others, heard him on map helping someone else after I finally managed to get to the diving spot.. Staggered that people like this exist and so I sent him 5g to say thanks, no idea if that's a done thing or even enough but it was practically all the gold I had.

Verdant Brink

Working through HoT at the moment and getting lost repeatedly.. I'm a 42 year old guy and clearly memory isn't my strong point as I go round in circles at times. Yesterday I joined a group where a guy "The coffee guy" or something like that was running in Verdant Brink and finally managed to figure out part of that map.

Hero Points

Afterwards I spent about 3hours on a hero point train through HoT maps that a "Elizia Mistgaze" ran through all of the Verdant Brink, Auric Basin and Tangled Depths points for a group of about 40 of us using nothing but basic gliding and mesmer portals. The time it must have taken to figure out this route and not to mention the patience it must have taken to herd (and I mean herd) the rabble that was through this until the small hours of the morning.

Thank you so much, I now have my elite spec... just got to figure out how to use it now :P so if any of you seen a female Norn DragonHunter randomly spinning, jumping as they try and heal themselves, standing in front of a wall wondering where everyone went to then please stop and point in the right direction... THANKS!!

Commanders

The game is great, it has it's flaws like anything and at times I want to uninstall it (looking at you disconnects in storyline cutscenes) but the community I've experienced so far in my very limited basis has been top notch.

Commanders I salute you for taking the time, giving your time to organise and run all of these things for nothing... it's helped my pleasure and fun in this game so far immeasurably especially coming from a game like BDO where nobody really interacted or went out of their way to help others

Now if someone could just find a simple way to explain how to navigate the Tangled Depths which appears to be Tyrias answer to Birminghams Spaghetti Junction (https://media.gettyimages.com/photos/spaghetti-junction-england-uk-picture-iddv440009) then I'd be eternally grateful.

The shocking truth about the new Watchknight tonic. Read before TP millionaires ban this post.

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 01:22 AM PDT

The new watchknight tonics do not, like the other potions, create an illusion of the player being a specific thing. They remove the illusion of the player being anything but another watchknight. Did you never ask yourself why you can just revive youself and at any waypoint in the world? Or use waypoints so easily at all? There's just a ton of watchknights below every waypoint ready to project the image of any "player" onto itself while the old watchknight - dead or alive- just stealths itself and returns to the next waypoint. Wake up, sheeple! Have you never questionned the nature of your world? Who would send real people to fight a threat like the elder dragons if they have watchknights at their disposal that retain their memories upon death by moving their program to another terminal. The only risk that comes with that plan is a rebellion. Of course they can just bring out more watchknights to strike them down. But how do they train them? Easy! They just have to create a pavillion where those other watchknights endlessly fight the "players" and gradually learn how to beat them just in case. Did you never ask what the twisted watchwork opponents tried to tell us? Scarlett Briar had figured it out all along and managed to stop the Watchknights before they could return to the waypoints. So our overlords manipulated us into killing her. We just stood in front of her evidence going "It doesn't look like anything to me." Remember? It's time to face the truth, everybody.

TLDR: We are watchknights created to fight the dragons.

NCsoft's Earnings Report 2Q 18: GW2 Sales slightly decreased

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 04:35 PM PDT

NCsoft has published the earnings report for the second quarter of 2018. The sales of GW2 are reduced from 23.6 (about 18 mln Euros) to 19.9 bln Korean Won (about 15 mln Euros). The fourth quarter after the release of PoF is still quite strong. GW2 could obviously profit from different sales and the BLESSaster.

https://i.imgur.com/vkYN4qc.png

Since the release of PoF GW2 has generated 98.5 bln Won within four month after release compared to 99,1 bln Won for HoT - despite a four month shorter period of pre-purchases for PoF. The fourth quarter of PoF is about 4,5 bln Won stronger than the one of HoT. Obviously PoF and LW season 4 are able to keep more payers happy than HoT and LW3.

Overall the quarter was a small step back for NCsoft with reduced sales from mobile games in comparison with 1Q 18. YoY we see a strong jump upwards. Lineage 1 could recover the sales. The other big titles are showing reduced sales.

[Hs] HoTW P1 2:13 record

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 07:59 AM PDT

Greetings and salutations all 4 groups of dungeon players, nexu... uh Harmonise here, back with more dungeon fun times.

So here is the scoop of why our gameplay is so impressive, whooooo!!!!

First off, we went with 2x chronos as having just one person doing the portals wasn't enough at this speed. 1 with moa for instant break on the 2 bosses where we want to break at very specific times, and one with timewarp since quickness is a pretty good boon.

We had to bring a warrior since having a spellbreaker elite makes the final boss look like any other trash mob and allowed us to ignore the totems all together. Also banners and ea are pretty cool.

Then we had 2 slots left for dps. We decided on bringing 1 soulbeast and one DH. The reasoning for this comes primarily from the second boss, ALDUS STORMBRINGER. This boss will often use a block attack during which he negates all damage from 35-40 attacks. Bringing a stance share soulbeast counters this and allows us to shread through the stacks incredibly quickly. The boss also has a projectile attack that deals immense damage, the wall of reflection from a guardian can reflect this, resulting in UNREAL damage to the boss. Managing to kill Aldus before he regains his block stacks means we can shave off large amounts of time.

In conclusion, removing the stacks asap and instantly breaking the boss in combination with a reflection from the dragonhunter ends up granting us upward of 300k group dps and completely destroying him in a matter of seconds.

Rather have more content WITHOUT voice acting!

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 05:56 AM PDT

I just completed the weapon contest mini-quest, and I enjoyed this SO much more than whatever living story release has graced us recently. I can't precisely explain why. Maybe it's because it was done with a lot more freedom to it or perhaps it was because I revisted older maps and enjoyed the nostalgic music.

But whatever it was, it made me realize that I'd rather have much more high-quality story content that is NOT voice acted than story content that is. The reason is simple: voice acting takes away a lot of resources (time and money) but accomplishes (in my eyes) little more in value.

If only we could have more frequent mini-quests like these that flesh out current lore and story in-game in a fresh and interesting way. Or what about even dropping random lore books from monsters you defeat?

Regardless, I really enjoyed this mini-quest, and I'm very hopeful that more will see our way soon!

Looking for Hiding spots in Tyria

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 03:49 PM PDT

Hey ;>
I'm trying to organize multiple Hide and Seek events for my Guild to get people to explore maps at a maximum.
There are so many cool locations in this game that you wont find by just doing map completition, but I'm starting to run out of spots to hide.

Now this is what I actually want: Cool spots in Core Tyria that are accessible without mounts (if its possible but hard its still ok).
I used some of the spots from two articles that i found quite fitting (gonna link them below) and maybe we can get some kind of big list somewhere hidden in reddit but available for everyone who searches to do these events :>

Explore List 1
Explore List 2

You know what would be nice? If they updated the World Completion meter.

Posted: 12 Aug 2018 10:26 PM PDT

It would be nice to have a World Completion meter for HoT Maps, PoF maps and "Misc" maps (like Southsun Cove) somewhere, since "World Completion" is a total misnomer.

I am MadLass, and this is my story

Posted: 12 Aug 2018 09:37 PM PDT

Oh boy, here we go. Before I begin, I would like to explain that I may not make much sense as this is hard for me to say. If you don't want to get sad, stop reading now. |. |. |.
| | | | | | | | Still with me? Ok, guess I have to do this then. I first played this game 3 years ago once my father had surprised me with it because I loved it's graphics and story at the time. We played together and separate but yet still enjoyed our time together. Sadly, one day 2 and a half years ago we found out he had lost over half of his blood and it was a damn miracle he survived. He got several bags of blood and eventually had to get liver surgery because of an ammonia build up. He survived but at a cost, he got a huge back burn that caused him so much pain, it was terrible to see him endure this. His medicine for the pain cause both his to sleep most of the time(cutting off any of his family time) and his legs to swell to a horrible extent The stress of this was lessened by the fact that I could escape the world into GW2 and not worry, but this didn't last forever. He eventually got pneumonia which hospitalized him. He was getting better for 7 weeks until, he went in a downwards spiral fast. He got so severely sick and we visited him for every day we could. It was sad to watch, he was strapped to all these machines and severely jaundiced. He looked so different than the last time I saw him that I thought we walked into the wrong room. He woke up every now and then from sedation, he couldn't even speak to us however due to the tube is his mouth, he couldn't even move. I saw him watching us, following with his eyes and looking like he was desperately trying to speak or move or anything at all. The last day we saw him and said goodbye for the last time I even saw him cry, and as we left it looked like he moved his arm, just a tiny bit, as if he wanted to reach out and hug us. He passed this March. GW2 was the way I could pretend it was a normal day during these tough times. The way I could get a little comfort that he had a good life. The way I could stop crying for just a little. This still isn't over as it was only 4 months or so ago. GW2 is how I continued to live on through this, and this has surely taught me so many things.

I would like to thank the entire GW2 community for being so understanding and supportive of me during this tough time. And I would like to remind anyone who has gone through this that you can't stop having fun and doing things. You can't just exist, you have to live, if you only exist then, there is no point in anything. Life is truly something amazing that everyone has to experience, so you can choose to live your life to the fullest, or just be something that exists.

I would also like to add that, this doesn't change who I am, mostly. I just have learned a better outlook on life.

Thank you Guild Wars and Arenanet for joining me through this incredible and stressful journey, and for helping me open my eyes to a whole world of possibilities.

I am MadLass, and this has been my journey, and though it has been hard, I am thankful for this experience and the moments I still had with my father.

Remember to keep on living life.

Edit: Thank you to everyone and their kind words, they mean a lit to me. I can't believe how many people are so supportive and I thank you all for this and hope to see you in game one day.

(If the mods want me to take this down, then just ask me and I will)

Not sure if this is considered low-value or low-effort. If so feel free to remove, or tell me to do so.

Been playing a few years off and on. It's a love-love relationship but sometimes I just can't bring myself to log in even though the rewards are worth it. It's not because I have no friends, I have plenty who play. Almost my entire guild are all supportive and fun-loving people who are always there to hang and talk. It's also not really because of how the game is. I find it really fun when the mood strikes.

I felt the need to write this because after today I might not be able to enjoy the game in the same way I used to. I go in for surgery to remove a large cyst from inside my left ear. My hearing's never been great because of it since it's been in my head since I was 11, now for over a decade. Thing is the surgery has a high success rate, so that's great and all, but my hearing will never be as good as it was before this thing started invading my life. Doctors say 40% to 45% hearing will be all that's left after the damn thing is gone and my ear is reconstructed.

There's light, though. I'm approved for a bone anchored hearing aid once the surgery is all done and dusted so I can hear at least better than I'm supposed to. I also get to log in to Discord every night and talk to my guildies; I get to stay up long nights with my wife, and I always have GW2. Even if I don't really feel like playing I can just hang out in Mistlock Sanctuary and watch all the shiny people fly by, maybe hook someone up with a low-level Fractal run or two. Hell, some nights I just sit there in the ol' Sanctuary talking with my guildies.

Speaking of guildies, you guys rock. I'm so sorry I'm never around for missions or game nights anymore, things have just been rough.

In any case, the game's been with me through better and worse. It's always a nice way to blow off some steam or to hang out with my guildies in some form, and it's also a great way to take my mind off of the crap that's been going on. It's kind of like a friend who doesn't want to hang out very often because he's busy, but when you guys do hang it's some of the best hours/days you've both ever had.

Thank you, ArenaNet. Thanks to all you players out there, too, especially my guildies. I might not be around very often in the coming days, and after that I won't be able to hear the music very well anymore and participate in voice comms, but I'll do my damnedest to be around more and be the person I know I can be.

Rock on, everyone.

EDIT: Thank you all for the support. I have a bit of a renewed focus right now in trying to calm down and strive for the best, rather than wallowing in what I am now. Like I said before, I'm going to be the person I know I can be, someone better.

It made me immediately look game who was downed. My toon was standing in Divinity's. Had to recheck Band of Brothers and there it was. I know it is a common line but still it made me react that I have to rez someone.

QoL LFG Open World Suggestion/Idea

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 08:54 AM PDT

Hello!
Like many others, I am sure, I found myself really frustrated at how difficult it is to visually navigate the absolutely bloated Open World LFG window. In the state that it is now, it is very hard for the human eye to swiftly track and find the HoT, LWS and PoF maps in the Open World LFG window. I'm sure many are also frustrated in trying to quickly get into a meta only to find that while they were looking for the proper LFG tab, the world or map instance was already full.
So this got me thinking. I'm sure the devs haven't changed up the formula because it is not as easy to code a different system as we think it is. But here's me thinking/hoping that the already existing LFG tabs could perhaps be renamed. I came up with to our current issue: https://i.imgur.com/i35CnwY.jpg

How about adding the bare map names the region or content pack that they come from so that our eyes would have something to lock on to in the multiplicity that is sure to grow as we get more Living World and expansion releases? To me, this small change would already make the Open World LFG tool much easier to navigate

Ideas, additional suggestions, dev comments?

How long roughly will it take to grind out the Gems for LWS 2/3?

I would just rather not spend the money right now and I already paid for both expansions so was wondering how much of a time investment it would be to get the living world seasons for free.
