Introducing a more lenient ruleset: Rules 2.0 Posted: 29 Aug 2018 05:02 PM PDT TL;DRThe rules are now far less strict overall, but we still have a minimum requirements. The bar has been lowered and will be monitored. We allow more memes, fluff and posts overall now. We believed we had a history of over-policing the content rather than allowing the voting system and general quality guidelines to speak for themselves. We have noticed a lot of community dissatisfaction with our ruleset and our removals, increasingly so since our last revision. The team has decided to take a few days to review each rule in detail, looking at what doesn't make sense on a community gaming forum. All of this being said, we've ultimately decided to change the rules significantly. This doesn't mean that we will be allowing template memes, but it does mean we will be allowing more humor posts, more fluff posts and generally more posts overall. We still want to allow, encourage and foster Fortnite meta and in-depth game discussions here. This is the general "forum" for Fortnite: Save the World and we want all content to have a chance here. Based on our own internal discussions as well as feedback from the community, we believe we have a history of over policing the content rather then allowing the voting system and general quality guidelines to speak for themselves. As Reddit moderators, our job isn't to curate the content but rather keep everything in line, content bans should be applied retroactively instead of proactively and after there has been a reasonable amount of observations about the flood of one type of content that cannot be controlled because it is more easily digested than other content. Additionally, the goal of all these rules is to make them easier to enforce as a team. Previously our rules were a bit too dependent on the moderator assessing the post at the time, and we apologize for that. We realize we had a lot of faults with our past enforcement and ruleset, and want to begin making good on that by making our own rules easier for everyone to agree on if a post should or should not be allowed. Below we'll outline the rule and policy changes as well as the reasoning: Post Quality Fortnite ContentChanges
ReasoningThe general thoughts behind the changes here are that we flat out removed too much for low quality. We want to allow shorter jokes, nostalgia posts and fluff posts that show off the best the community has to bring. We will be enforcing the quality aspect of this less, where as only posts that are blatantly low quality (phone pictures, stick figures, template memes) will be removed. Title GuidelinesChanges
ReasoningIn addition to what we wrote above, we want to allow things that are tangentially related to Fortnite that are also opening up room for discussion. We will also be allowing posts from one user to another, so if someone makes a huge sprawling design in their SSD and another person wants to say "I just had to one up that design" by building a more elaborate SSD creation, this is now allowed. The main reason for this rule will now be that Title Guidelines will mostly require titles for posts to have context and not be clickbait. Humor GuidelinesChanges
ReasoningHumor should be allowed if there is something unique brought to the table. We want to allow shorter humorous content while also removing the "low effort" memes that you see so often. This means if a meme is done in a popular format that is not special to Fortnite in any way like a spongebob meme, despicable me or any other commonly found template meme then we will be removing it. However, these were probably 1-3% of removals, and will be approving humor content more often now. No Witch Hunting or Posting Personal InformationChanges
Frequently Posted TopicsChanges
Promotion GuidelinesChanges
Posts Must Provide a Point For DiscussionChanges
ReasoningAs said above and in another breakdown of the reasoning behind these changes, we now allow posts in reply to another post, we found that we were removing posts communicating between others for no reason. This policy will receive a heavy enforcement change, since we found ourselves too often removing posts for not encouraging discussion based on the sub-points of this rule rather then the actual main context of the rule. All posts should bring up something to discuss, but not to the point that it's college level debate required. [link] [comments]

Countdown to Magyst's Breakdown Posted: 29 Aug 2018 05:42 PM PDT Every day I read this subreddit and the amount of people blaming the poor bugger for every single one of the game's issues I just keep expecting him to blast someone in the most spectacular fashion for asking the same question that's he's answered 49272 times in the past, but he doesn't. Hats off to the guy, I woulda lost it months ago. Yeah it's his job to communicate with the community and dealing with complaints is a part of that but think about your own workplace and that customer/client that blames everything (whether in your control or not) on you just because you're the one they're talking to. Guess what, we are that person when we bitch to Magyst about the game. Note: I'm NOT talking about bug reporting/asking him for help; moreso the "THEGAMESBROKENANDYOUDONTCAREABOUTUSWHYARENTYOUDOINGANYRHINGITSALLYOURFAULTREEEEEEE" posts. If you needed that explaining to you, odds are you're one of the people making those useless comments. At the end of the day, I've started playing a certain very large MMO that just released an expansion just while I wait for 5.4 to come and have the lag and bugs fixed and don't think for a second that company is anywhere near as good with customer service and answering questions/issues. TLDR: don't make a fellas job harder than it has to be - odds are you hate the person doing that at your work. [link] [comments]

You wouldn't think a game with this many bugs and errors is owned by a multi-million company. Posted: 29 Aug 2018 06:44 AM PDT Look, I am not going to lie, I do enjoy playing this game, but the amount of bugs and errors is actually unreal. Does BR make EPIC more money, probably yes, but is that an excuse to abandon and ignore StW? No. Just from the top of my head these are some of the bugs and errors I have encountered from playing this game:
I could go on and on with point after point of bugs and just general annoying things in this game. A game is something that should be enjoyable not something that brings so much frustration, this game is dying and that is 100% a fact. Just look at the state of this subreddit, every other post is just a bug or about something that ruined someones game experience. Everyone knows that Battle Royale is what made Fortnite explode, but to some people StW is the game that got them into it and those same people are quitting the game outright and at this point I doubt the game will make it out of early access. Feel free to comment all the other bugs I have left out for the small chance an EPIC employee see's this and maybe decide to do something about it. So please EPIC, FIX THE GAME. Magyst, any chance of some video tour/interview of the STW team? Posted: 29 Aug 2018 11:15 AM PDT Hey u/magyst was wondering if there was a possibility of some video tour instead of / conjunction with the next roadmap. Would love to see things from beyond your keyboard warriorship here on Reddit and perhaps get to hear from some of the internal teams about what they've been working on or what's interesting them in the game at the moment. If it's a possibility let us know! (If this has happened before somebody please link me) [link] [comments]
Mythic ninja quick analysis - Bladestorm enforcer Posted: 29 Aug 2018 06:08 PM PDT It's really early but I believe you've seen multiple topics about it; Bladestorm enforcer feels... not that good. His new Kunai ability was kinda promising, but the results aren't matching the expectations. The best thing to quickly analyse the hero is to compare it to our beloved top ninjas: Dragon, Shuriken Master, Harvester and Skirmisher. Note that I'm doing this quick analysis for people wondering if it's worth buying. I'll let people such as /u/Details-Examples or /u/Whitesushii (or someone else) go deeper. First of all, let's list what could be good and bad about this Ninja. Pros: - Fully ability focused. 3 damaging abilities: Dragon slash, Shurikens, and Kunai. - Cover a large area by combining Kunai + Dragon slash - Buffed shurikens - Possibility to reduce an ability's cooldown to 0s. That's a possbility I've been waiting so much... Cons: - ... but you can't really exploit it. Cooldown is reduced by 2s for each ennemy killed. To have 0s cooldown you have to kill 8 ennemies, and there are two solutions: jump high enough to cover a large area -then you'll lack damage-, or cast it from the floor; in this case, you'll need super packed ennemies, and if you can achieve this repeatedly you're most likely in trouble because you're tanking too much - Dragon slash has no buff. We can't have everything buffed, but having Kunai -which is melee- and shurikens -that can be used from afar- buffed makes you feel like you can't really wreck anything either at close or long range - You have to use double jump (or use landscape or structures) to make good use of Kunai. Without this, the AoE (which depends on your height when launching it) will just be super tiny Now compared to our superstar ninjas: - Dragon has clearly a lot more AoE potential thanks to multiple buffs to Dragon slash. Fully focused on this spell, he has 100% melee focus and can deal massive AoE damage with good maniability - Suriken master is useful in long range, but can also be used at close range thanks to the increased number of shurikens. To me, it'll be better at long range, but no matter the case, shurikens can be multi purpose unlike those of the Bladestorm - Harvester has nothing to do with him since it's more scythe oriented than abilities oriented, but I feel like Bladestorm doesn't have as much survivability nor usefulness for a team - Skirmisher would probably be the most comparable subclass, but here again I feel like Bladestorm is underwhelming compared to the others. As a conclusion, I am disappointed of this new ninja. He doesn't look really good (more like a cloaked soldier than a ninja), has questionable abilities and skills, no real focus on either melee or distance, no other "useful perk" than buffs to two abilities, without one that looks strong enough to be worth it compared to other subclasses. Feel free to leave your opinion about this character, and I hope this (really quick) analysis has been somewhat useful to any of you. [link] [comments] |
