Monthly Challenge! -- June 7th, 2018: Famine.

Famine

The proximate cause of famine was potato blight, which ravaged potato crops throughout the rim. However, the impact in the colony was disproportionate, as one third of the population was dependent on the potato for a range of ethnic, religious, political, social, and economic reasons, such as land acquisition, absentee landlords, which all contributed to the disaster to varying degrees and remain the subject of intense historical debate.

The scenario can be found here

The rules!

Either show a date you get overrun (and your final base) with the "This story is now over" end screen, the screen that shows the planet killer end screen, or the ship victory screen, an overview of your colony, and the end date.

When either have been posted, PM me (and ONLY me) with the permalink to the post on this thread. Any other threads about challenge colonies will be met with swift deletion! You will either get a "Warlord" style flair (for holding out until being crushed by enemy factions) or a "Shipbuilder" style flair (for escaping the planet), with whatever message you choose!

Out of all the things you can do in Rimworld, there is one thing that's 100% can't be real...

My house drawn in rimworld

Posted: 12 Jun 2018 04:03 PM PDT

I tried to build my house in rimworld. Its really tight irl and since the squares are so big in the game sometimes it looks worse, sometimes it looks that there is more space than actually there is. Silver furniture is bathroom. Barrel is fridge:

The last insect corpse didn't even stop twitching when my colonists decided to throw a party. They even held it in the hospital so their horribly mangled friends could enjoy it too.

Will 1.0 have multicore usage?

Posted: 12 Jun 2018 08:33 PM PDT

My Rimworld doesnt run very well (albeit heavily modded) And while i dont know much about computers. Would the application of multicore processing be better for this game and would it be priority/considered?

World Settings

Posted: 12 Jun 2018 09:48 PM PDT

So, a few days ago, there was a user that polled us asking what our favorite biome was. However, I felt like the person didn't take it far enough when asking about how each of us generates a world. And since I don't know how to create a poll like that user, you'll just have to (hopefully) answer with comments.

When creating a RimWorld, what size do you go with? -30% -50% -100% -5%(dev)

With your slider for Overall Rainfall do you go....? -Low -Average -High -In between Low and Average -In between Average and High

With your slider for Overall Temperature do you go...? -Low -Average -High -In between Low and Average -In between Average and High

Thanks in advance. And anyone who knows how to create polls for here that could help me out. I'm am definitely interested in the help to get a better look at us as a community on these things. Thanks Again.

How long to organs last?

Posted: 12 Jun 2018 12:20 PM PDT

I've got an 82 year old colonist named Thor. He lives up to his name sake by being a badass with a mace but recently has started getting heart attacks. I don't have the medicine to continue to deal with his heart attacks successfully so I was wondering if I could harvest the heart from a recent raider and use it to heal Thor? If I did this would Thor survive? Can the heart be stored long term in a freezer so I could use it as a transplant organ next time he gets a heart attack? Thanks for your responses
