Please use this thread as a week-to-week suggestions box for Tynan, the /r/RimWorld mods, and game modders. Post whatever you feel would improve your RimWorld experience, but keep it civil! Before you post, please take a glance at the release notes and see if what you're suggesting has already been implemented. I am a bot, so I can't make jokes. TIL about corpse obsession

Posted: 12 Feb 2018 09:28 AM PST

I was out and about with four of my colony members, attacking an outpost.

Saw that one of my members, Yutte, had a mental break. Didn't think much of it, as I was focusing on making sure my colonists weren't about to die whilst kiting this outpost.

A bit of back story. Yutte is my only survivor after I had a raid a couple of years back in game. She was captured along with Yakov and Doc. All joined the colony, and Yakov and Doc died after picking a fight with a poison ship whilst I was out of colony doing something (again.)

So yeah. Ignored the mental break. UNTIL I saw on the top corner "Yutte is no longer obsessed with corpses"

Had a moment of "wait, what the fuck" so I paused the game and switched screens.

Yutte was asleep, in bed, with the skeletal corpses of her two old tribe mates on the dresser at the foot of the bed. She'd dug the graves up, brought them into the room like some sort of twisted sleep over, to reminisce the days of their child hood (maybe).

The next morning, she woke up, reburied their corpses, and went about her business.

I will never look at her the same way again.

You should be able to call up hostile factions and talk shit at them to provoke a raid.

Sometimes I need more of that succulent human meat for my cannibals and dogs. Maybe I need to test some new defenses. Or maybe I'm just bored. It could have the benefit of maybe decreasing subsequent raid sizes from that group.

This game hurts me

Posted: 12 Feb 2018 11:51 PM PST

Had a colonist survive plague, squirrels, Thrumbos, insects and raids and on her wedding day she gets totalled by a doomsday rocket launcher from a surprise raid... and then her husband snapped and lit the entire chemfuel storage on fire and vaporised most of the cowering colonists...

God damn it Randy

Capturing prisoners from a raid, then beating the shit out of them repeatedly to level up melee, then healing them to level up medicine.

I love this game.

Psychic Animal Pulsar is now my favorite way to eliminate an enemy base

Posted: 12 Feb 2018 08:41 AM PST

There is nothing more hilarious then seeing their base turrets overwhelmed by armies of squirrels and rabbits.

In all seriousness it is so incredibly effective because the small animals are so fast and hard to hit they swarm the base and focus all the fire on them. This buys time for the BIG animals to cross the firing lines and engage in melee. When the enemy is pirates chances are they are using grenades and molotovs and they will destroy their whole base in the process of fending off angry elk or muffalo.

Then when it's all done you have a handful of badly injured animals to take down. If you have the time you can then set up a butcher's right there in the enemy base and have food for days if you bring a couple of cooks along.

Got my friend to buy RimWorld. He's starting his second colony.

Posted: 12 Feb 2018 08:27 PM PST

The name of the colony is Bowl of Petunias.

So when it inevitably burns down he can think to himself "oh no, not again."

What's the shortest time you've had a colonist for?

Posted: 12 Feb 2018 03:34 PM PST

I just recruited a prisoner who caught the plague on the same day, and I sent a caravan to the nearby town so we could get some medicine since I was out, and the new recruit was one out of two colonists to die of the plague. The other two were saved just in time by the colony doctor.

Shoot to injure

Posted: 12 Feb 2018 05:29 PM PST

As the title says, I think a shoot to injure/shoot to kill option would be super useful for capturing raiders. What do you guys think?
