Fallout - Updated Fallout Satellite map.

Updated Fallout Satellite map.

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 12:14 AM PST

After a long absence from it, I've gotten around to updating my Satellite Fallout map, link here:

http://i.imgur.com/7pY5grp.png

Every location has been verified with in-game lore where available, this includes a fair bit of effort to narrowing down the locations of the divide and Big MT, which I have narrowed down to the point I am confident in saying I am spot on their canon locations.

You may notice locations from fallout 1 do not necessarily match the in-game map. That is because I have prioritized the in-game text which provides real world equivalents for several locations. The biggest example being Necropolis = Bakersfield and the Hub = Barstow.

Where the exact location of something is uncertain, I have tried to make the best guess based off of geography and blunt logic. For example Shady Sands V13 and V15, are in different locations in fallout 1 and 2, with no lore narrowing down their placement. I opted to place Shady Sands in the Owens Valley, the most fertile yet sandy option in the area. Placing V13 and V15, in places matching their ingame geography.

Future updates to the map include covering the entire West Coast as it stands in the series lore:

  • Fallout 2 locations, already well in progress

  • The Southern end of Fallout 1's map

  • Representing Fallout 1 and 2's locations with the actual in game location like I did with New Vegas. Been trying this with NCR cities, and it looks way nicer than how settlements look right now. Not sure if im describing this well. It will look nice i swear.

Further plans:

  • Venturing into speculation, IE, mentioned locations not visited in the games. Legion controlled turf.

  • A satellite map of the East Coast at the same scale.

  • Finding where the Sierra Madre would be, and hiding it in the map, for fun.

  • A full map of Fallout 3's Washington DC and the underground. Already in progress

  • Version of the map with population estimates

Strawpoll: What Fallout game/DLC has your favorite intro cutscene?

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 11:18 AM PST

Note: Please don't mock each other for their opinions or be a toxic jerk - Let's try and be positive in this discussion, and just talk about what makes one of the particular intro cut-scenes in a Fallout game/DLC your personal favorite.

Have a pleasant day, everyone!

A link to the poll should be found here.

I fear for Fallout

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 04:54 AM PST

just as the title suggests, i fear for this fandom, Fallout 4 at one point had been reduced to Negative reviews, people reason's varrying from give this series to Obsidian to CC update (which is fixed easily by the backup mod or just waiting for F4SE update)

people have started circlejerking too much, calling employees to be fired because they didn't do something that they liked and also online verbal attacks on the same employees.

All this because just some modders wanted to sell some mods to you, Bethesda said it time and time again, modding will always remain free, nexus and every other site will remain forever free and open. you don't like CC, don't use it. its not like EA, where you have to spend money on microtransactions to unlock the game.

You like New Vegas, fine. its a great game, something that other Fallout's aspire to be, yet F4 is its own brand, a personal story game lot like Fallout 2 (with a voice, IGOR FETCH ME THE BRAIN!)

I just hope this series doesn't become like Undertale or FNAF. full of angry and toxic fanbase. rather scare newcomers away than to invite them in

Would a non-apocalyptic setting work for Fallout game?

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 01:53 PM PST

Even the earliest civilizations seemed to be able to thrive with just bronze-age technology. What is the lore that explains why humanity hasn't been able to rebuild some two hundred years after the war? At the very least, why haven't people cleaned the place up? Wouldn't a mostly rebuilt and inhabited Boston with pockets of ruin make more sense? Post war, all the knowledge and technology clearly exists. By all accounts the Fallout timeline right before the war was further ahead than our timeline.

“Do you join the unity or die! Join? Die? Join?” - The Master.

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 12:30 PM PST

The master scared the hell out of me when I first played the original fallout, his voice constantly changing the hideous mutations caused by the FEV. The funny thing is he genuinely seems to believe he's doing the right thing, I actually felt sorry for him in the end. When I revealed that the mutants were sterile the despair and horror for things he'd done really surprised me, you don't expect the main villain who looks like a monster to have any humanity left.

I personally find him to be one of the most tragic characters in the fallout universe, to constantly delude yourself into doing horrible things and then finding out all of those thing were done in vain is one of the best twists in the franchise (for me anyway) hopefully we'll see another antagonist with his complex personality in the future.

Is Fallout 1 and 2 lore heavy?

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 01:23 PM PST

I want to start playing the Fallout series from the beginning after I finish Fallout 4. I'm on the fence about Fallout 1 and 2. I would play it if it was lore heavy and would teach me more about groups in the world. Is it lore heavy?

Old World Blues final thoughts

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 07:23 AM PST

Holy shit, did it get weird near the end. It was seriously one of the most bonkers gaming experiences I've ever had. Hilariously weird. Try and imagine you've never played New Vegas and read this summary of my final actions.

So I found this talking stealth suit who wasted all of my goddamn stimpaks, finally completing the task for the Think Tank scientists. I talked to my own damn brain, convinced him to come with me and confront the Think Tank (but not before taking a pack of Mentats from Doc Mobius and getting addicted after eating one), and entered the Dome to try and end the madness peacefully. I had only helped Doctor Borous with his dog memories and so no one else wanted to try and reason with me. After he pathetically tried to convince them to hear me out (thanks for trying, Borous) and they ignored him, I pulled out my... dog brain gun with Mentats strapped to the back and shot all of them down. I left the robotic corpses of the scientists on the ground and went to the Sink, where my brain and skull were reunited. I finished the adventure, and got a classic NV slideshow where the fates of all my home appliance pals were revealed. I arrived back at the Mojave and strangely enough, the sun was setting when I teleported in. It was a fitting ending to my adventures in Big MT.

It was a great time. Funny and weird, and full of charm, cool weapons and armor and penis toe jokes. It got a little philosophically heavy at the end of the slideshow, too. It's a wonderful DLC. I can't wait until I redo it with new character and try out the LAER, which I ignored due to my Guns character build, and can hopefully reach a peaceful solution with the Think Tank scientists, who I grew to like. My only complaints are the fucking annoying bullet sponge robot scorpions and the references to the other DLCs, which is no fault of the game or developers but since I don't own any of the others, it just felt weird. That is all. Splendid DLC. Just wanted to share my thoughts. Thanks again, Obsidian!

Quickest Way of getting a Companion in Fallout 3

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 09:58 AM PST

Long Story Short I have never played Fallout 3 but I have a code for the game that came with Fallout 4. I've played through 4 and am now moving back to play 3. I searched over youtube and couldn't find what I was looking for. Basically I was wondering what mission or method I could use to get a companion as quick as possible in Fallout 3.

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Ideas for a Fallout D&D game set in Europe. Need help with lore and ideas.

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 09:42 AM PST

Hi, I'm a lover of the Fallout franchise and an avid D&D player. After seeing a post made by another person like myself found here (I'm new to Reddit, hope I did the link right.) I decided to run a game using his rules. My players liked it so we might do a full campaign before I move to New York for college. My idea is that Riley's rangers expanded and are being paid by an anonymous client to send a scouting party to Europe to see what it's like there and to map the area. I need help with lore and coming up with ideas. I know that the Mediterranean Sea has supposedly been drained and that Europe was experiencing rough conditions due to fallouts version of the EU splitting up, but other than that I know nothing. Research on my part has brought me nothing as well. If no one knows anything I could use help with some story hooks as well. I haven't decided on anything yet so the entire coastline of Europe and Africa is open. One idea I have had is a huge Spanish raider gang who control the Dam on the straight of Gibraltar. (Taking a page from New Vegas.) I hope you guys can help.

Rrrrr...I hate how the wide tunnel pieces and the Overseer’s pieces don’t fit with the atrium pieces.

Posted: 30 Jan 2018 11:00 PM PST

2 hours....2 motherf***ing hours of building then scrapping to get some semblance of a usable vault.

I haven't gotten very far yet because of this, I don't even know if I can connect the other sections of the vault to the main atrium or not; oh and how the hell am I supposed to use the atrium end pieces? Do I just block of the other sections after clearing them, or do I leave the rock walls exposed?

Steam Purchase worth it instead of searching for old cd-r?

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 11:42 AM PST

If I buy 1 & 2 on Steam will it be the same versions as if I went and dug out my old cd-r's or are the graphics mods/other patches already "built-in"?

Thanks.

Fallout Hawaii: And why it would be awesome

Posted: 30 Jan 2018 11:44 PM PST

Okay so hear me out. My friend and I were talking and he had an idea of a fallout game based in Hawaii. Here are the reasons why I think this would be awesome.

1.Link Wray, dick dale and other 50s surf rock artists. I feel like you could throw little Richard and chuck Barry in there too and I feel like it would work.

  1. They could have some lava areas around volcanos that would be awesome.

  2. There could be a vault on a beach thats like under water do a rapture type deal where you could have shark men running around because of some fucked up experiments.

  3. Run around with a harpoon gun

  4. Mutated sea creatures

  5. Tropical food such as irradiated pineapple and coconuts.

  6. There could be a tribe running around with tiki masks. It would be like some crash bandicoot shit but still

  7. It would be cool to see a post apocalyptic area that is heavily forrested. And yes I am talking about those shriveled up black things. The trees would be there but they'd be fucked up like in the other games. Charred pine trees and jungle type trees too.

Overall I know it will never happen but if it did I would Definetely play that game.

Companion predictions for Fallout 5

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 03:15 AM PST

What are your hopes/fears/expectations/predictions for Fallout 5 companion? What kind of character would you enjoy as a companion?

We know nothing about Fallout 5 or it's companions (and neither does Bethesda, since it'll be years before pre-production starts), but I think we can agree that the following archetypes will appear again- what do you wish for regarding them

Archetypes

• Super Mutant

• Ghoul

• Mercenary

• Brotherhood of Steel

• Robot

• Girl(s)

• Canine
