Heroes of the Storm - Why not pair muted players with muted players?

Why not pair muted players with muted players?

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 05:48 AM PST

I don't get it, every 2nd game there is a muted player in my team, ping spamming like no other and doing rarely something positive in a game. It's really pissing me off, why is blizzard not pairing muted with muted players so they can ping each other to death and feed like they want - i REALLY don't care if the queues for them are 30 minutes. sry for the rant

The only reason I play ranked is because it doesn't have Blackhearts Bay in the rotation.

I don't even care about the imaginary numbers determining how bad I am. I just deal with the clown fiesta because it's still better than dealing with a clown fiesta on BHB.

Can't Watch Many HotS Streamers Without Hearing Nonstop Negativity

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 06:41 PM PST

Like most people I like to feel like the games I play are not a waste of time. When watching streamers lately, this is hard to do. Turn on any streamer with 1000 viewers or more lately (besides Grubby) and you're bound to hear the following:

  • Complaining about hero kits and abilities.
  • Complaining about matchmaking.
  • Complaining about teammates.
  • "You can't take this game seriously."
  • "Not sure why I am queueing up again."
  • "I really wish I was playing League right now."
  • (sarcastic)"Chromie/Malthael/TLV are REALLY well designed, great job Blizzard, fun and interactive."

Now, streaming isn't a job where you're paid to be shills for Blizzard. A streamer who could never be honest about his feelings of frustration would probably not enjoy streaming. The thing is, though, while these guys are being honest, they're also demonstrating an amazing amount of hypocrisy and a huge lack of self-awareness.

Streamers feed like crazy. We all know it and we've all seen it. They will freely admit this if asked, that play worse on stream than off. They play like they're on coms with four pros and sometimes try to entertain their viewers by making daring moves. If their teammates don't back their play, they babyrage.

When they are losing, most streamers show no character. I made the mistake of opening mewnfarez' stream after swearing I would never do so again, and within five minutes he was losing, talking about how HotS wasn't fun and was a waste of his time. The title of his stream should really be "Why Do You Even Play This, You Idiot?"

Other streamers aren't as bad, but it just a constant avalanche of negativity from almost anyone. This is appealing to one type of people - those who think they're better than everyone else and enjoy shitting on others for builds and plays while easily dismissing their own questionable efforts. A guy like CrisHeroes will claim that he talks about his own mistakes, and he does, but not with the same tone that he talks about the mistakes of his team. For too many streamers, only their own mistakes are teaching moments. Meanwhile, if a teammate makes a mistake it's indicative that the guy doesn't belong at that rank, that matchmaking is bad, that the game is unwinnable. The hypocrisy in should be obvious, but they all do it almost nonstop.

Anyway, to sum up, streamers are so negative about HotS they make me feel dumb for playing it. They are so negative about rankings and matchmaking they make me feel like my own rank, or playing ranked in general, means nothing. They want to be seen as smart , fair-minded people but endlessly ignore or put their own mistakes in proper context while just saying other people are bad and should uninstall for their mistakes. And if the defense is "I'm not going to put on an act, I am being honest" well, I'm telling you, you are really unpleasant sometimes when you're 'being honest'.

Buff Tyrande's Shadow Stalk a little bit to follow Stealth Rework!

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 12:11 PM PST

well, the stealth aspect of Tyrande is almost obsolete as she is revealed all the time. Considering the buffs for other stealth heroes this ultitmate deserves a little buff (maybe more attack/movement speed or less cooldown?)

HOTS Top 5 New Years Resolutions

  1. Remember it's just a game, enjoy it, if it starts to frustrate me I will walk away.

  2. I will not say anything that could potentially tilt other teammates.

  3. I will be polite when talking with teammates.

  4. I will stay positive about Blizzard. I have no idea what is going on in their world, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

  5. I will stay positive on Reddit and give other people the benefit of the doubt.

You guys got any? Or any that you would add to the list?

HotS roster as of December 8 2015 compared to now.

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 09:42 AM PST

This popped up on my Facebook recently. Kinda neat to see how much the roster has grown in 2 years. December 8 2015 between the releases of Cho'gall and Lunara. December 2017 between the releases of Hanzo and Blaze. Heres hoping for even more fantastic heroes in 2018!

Maybe there should be a trivia to be able to place in plat/dia/masters...

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 01:29 PM PST

In the last 10 games, 2 of those had people not picking a main tank in diamond league....

And not because they were trolling, but because they lacked knowledge of the game....

like come on.... it's so frustrating when someone comes to the competitive mode without knowing even the basics....

What could we do to stop this? Pre-select your role?

10 wishes for Heroes of the Storm in 2018

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 08:19 PM PST

Since I have some free time in NYE due to a fever I thought it would be nice to give some feedback. 2017 was pretty solid year for HotS, we had some awesome events, HotS 2.0, updated support roster, some awesome brawls and competitive league play. I believe there's always room for improvement and Heroes is no exception. Here's 10 things that in my opinion Blizzard could work on to make the game better.

1) Hero League - Needless to say Ranked Mode is in rough state. Placement matches kinda screwed last 2 seasons, it's frustrating for everyone. However there is a solution, a simple fix that could improve HL. First of all: show players MMR & make leagues MMR locked. By that I mean each league could have its own MMR section that player cannot just bypass by placement matches(you cannot go above certain rank -not division- if you don't meet requirements). With visible MMR it would be easier to perceive if system works correctly and keep desired rank distribution and at the same time allow players to move around divisions. Also you couldn't drop a rank if your MMR is still in your current position.

Another thing is season rewards. There's not much to fight for if you're not aiming for Master/GM. It would be awesome to get something like a badass portrait/spray/banner/loading screen border & mount bundle, unique for each league. Also it would be cool to get something each time we climb. Believe me or not, even 1 standard lootbox would motivate players to focus more.

[Maybe it's not the best comparison but I want to compare Gwent(the witcher card game) ranking rewards to hots ones. In Gwent every time you go up in rank you get x amount of kegs( card packs), meteorite dust (thing that allows you to transmute "normal" card to a premium - animated - one) or scraps (crafting material). Gwent community is the most try harding community I've ever seen. At the start of the season literally everyone is trying to get the highest rank possible just because rewards. Of course it changes when season ends, more fun decks pop up here and there, but overall the enviroment is very competitive. Comparing to HotS: the rewards don't have to be out of the roof. Let's say you get 1 lootbox if you reach Bronze IV, 1 lootbox and 10 shards for Bronze III, 2 lootboxes for Silver V, 2 lootboxes 10 shards for Silver IV etc.]

2) Team League - I don't think that moving duos(+trios) to TL accomplished much or anything, I saw multiple times silvers/golds matched against Diamonds/Masters. I'm sad for Team League because it's the best mode to play Heroes of the Storm. It deserves more attention. Maybe implement enchanced reward system (see Gwent comparison) or maybe just move duos back to HL but only for plat3 and lower (in the end it wouldn't matter much for lower ranks). Good idea would be to keep HGC map rotation in TL the whole year.

3) Brawls - so a year and a bit of brawls is behind us. There were some better and worse brawls and I think everyone agrees they're good for the game. One thing that really comes to mind tho: there's literally no reason to play brawl after you received a reward. What if we could get a reward once per day? There could be a limit of (for example) 3 lootboxes per week.

4) Structures - this patch really showed how weak structures in heroes are. They don't protect you from dive, they don't help you hold the gound. Structures in HotS feel like they're there because they have to be. 5% buff to health & damage wouldn't break the game. Or just simply add the shield (like the core's one). Also there're some crazier ideas like slow on forts & keeps and increased range so they can actually threaten dive heroes. Something has to be done.

5) Mercenary Camps - there're problems mainly with knight & firebat camps. These mercenaries are simply too strong. Firebat camp deserve just flat HP nerf because if you wont clear it, it'll push fort gate, a fort & a keep gate. And on what maps they occure? Braxis and Warhead - 2 the most snowbally maps in the game. And there's Knight camp. Who would have thought that when you put 20% AoE spell shield on a mercenary camp it'll break the game? I see two solutions to that: nerf it to 10% or increase the range of the ability but make it to reduce amount of damage dealt by enemies instead. Solution nr2 creates a possibility of counter-play, i think its pretty decent idea.

6) Roles - dehaka is not a tank, tyrande is not a healer, chromie is not a carry. Current role system makes no sense and im sad it's still there. All it creates is frustration, misunderstanding and toxicity. Sometimes simplier doesn't mean better.

7) Heroes balance - Graymane, Lucio, Sonya, Genji, Tyrael, ETC, Tassadar, Abathur, Dehaka, Valla. Seems familliar? Well, if you watch HGC or anything Heroes Esports related it surely do. HGC league is fantastic, probably top 2 things that happened to Heroes this year but it gets boring when 10 heroes get pick over and over and over and over again. You wonder why HGC has so little audience? Well that's one of the reasons. And Blizzard doesn't seem to care, even recent Garrosh nerf shows that. All I can hope for is more balance changes around competitive play - even if it would cause some chaos in QM or HL because pay off is huge. More people wathcing HGC = more players ( = more money = more fun stuff in HotS), more knowledgable playerbase, diverse meta, interesting compositions and strategies poping up in Ranked play. Totally worth it if you ask me.

8 & 9) Tech - Reconnecting System - Replay system - bla bla bla starcraft engine yada yada yada... same old same old. Games been out for over 3 years and still doesn't have proper replay/reconnecting system. You can't change the engine we all get it but you can at least modify it to make things better right? Or if its really undoable then let me upload replays on a different service.

10) HGC - how nice it would be to watch pro players play in-game? Why there's no HGC tab next to replays tag? I saw a guy with Team Dignitas banner but there's nothing about it in-game. I don't think it's a wishful thinking at this point - it should be a goal for Blizzard to deliver.

It's 5 am, sorry for grammar fails, the best wishes for r/heroesofthestorm for new year and hope your NYE was more interesting than mine. See ya in the nexus.

QM always makes the most competitive teams.

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 03:45 AM PST

QM is very good at keeping team comps competitive.

I think we would all draft this comp every time if not for the proactive bans.

https://imgur.com/a/2s1HQ

I think we lost by 5%.

/sarcasm off I know its just QM it happens. However, I have been noticing a lot more imbalance in team comps. It just feels harder and harder to find a the fabled 50/50 game blizzards has been preaching for years.

Is it even possible to take void prison anymore? New zeratul seems to desperately need his new ultimate

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 06:35 AM PST

I have been playing the new zeratul almost exclusively since the stealth rework with about 200 games with him by now (Quick match only), and the more I familiarize with the character, the more I feel the utility, flexibility, potential and damage that brings Might of the Nerazim is almost mandatory.

I have noticed how by taking void prison your damage numbers go to half, you also say goodbye to double blink, double cleave and your crit AA, so the healing potential for AA is also gone.

Of course you rely more in your teammates and that can be a good thing, void prison is one of the best heroics in the game, with a lot of playmaking potential and you can swing a battle in no time, I by am not saying the heroic is bad or it doesn't have its place, since I have also picked it and won with it, it just feels like outside of pressing R, you are not the threat to the backline you could by with might of the nerazim.

What are your thoughts in the matter fellow zera players? Also I should say prior to this rework I had no experience with zeratul.

Jim Raynor Rework Ideas

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 09:49 AM PST

Overview:

Happy New Year Reddit! Our favorite Confederate marshal is long overdue for a rework. Currently is at the bottom tier of heroes in the game and arguably one of the worst ranged assassins in the game. He is drastically outclassed by other ranged sustained damage assassins such as Valla, Greymane, Tychus, and Zul'jin. Raynor is also one of the first heroes available to newer players in and I think with some much needed reworks to him he can assist newer players gain a broader grasp of the game such as Quests, Laning Push/ Depush, and Managing Cooldowns. So to give the marshal some viability in the current game here's some ideas I had for his rework.

Trait-Advanced Optics

Raynor's basic Attack range is 1 further than most other ranged Heroes, and his vision radius is 1 further as well.

Q-Penetrating Round

60 Mana Cooldown:12 seconds Deals 240 (+4% per level) damage and knocks enemies back

W-Inspire

40 Mana Cooldown:10 seconds Gain 30% bonus Attack Speed for 6 seconds. Nearby allies gain half of the bonus.

E-Adrenaline Rush

Automatically activates to heal for 440 (+4% per level) when Raynor is below 30% Health.

Lvl. 1 Talents (Current)

Give Me More! – Moved to Talent 7

Seasoned Marksman- Moved to part of his trait for a passive ability. This talent is a crutch for Raynor and outclasses his other options. The best way to balance this in my opinion would be to make it a baseline option as part of his trait.

Scouting Drone- Reworked.

Lvl. 1 Talents (Reworked)

Penetrating Round (Quest)- Each time Penetrating Round hits an enemy hero, increase its damage by 5. After hitting 15 heroes with Penetrating Round, Penetrating Round Stuns the first enemy hero hit and all other enemy units for 1 second. After hitting 30 heroes with Penetrating Round gain a Second Charge.

Inspire (Quest)-Inspire ally bonus applies to allied structures in addition to other allied units. After buffing ally heroes for 150 seconds increase the attack speed bonus by 10%. After buffing ally heroes for 300 seconds increase the attack speed bonus by another 10%. This equates to 50% bonus attack speed for Raynor and 25% for nearby allies.

Scouting Drone (Quest)-45 second cooldown. Reveal a target area for 45 seconds. Stores up to 2 charges. Enemies in the target area take 25% bonus physical damage from Raynor's attacks. After attacking 20 heroes revealed with Scouting Drone, increased the number of attacks to kill the drone to 4. After attacking 40 heroes revealed with Scouting Drone increased the bonus physical damage enemies take from Raynor to 40%.

*My thoughts with these talents are to create some strong and different play styles based on the game. The quests make him more enjoyable to play and allow him to have a more significant impact on the game in the earlier stages. The Inspire Quest I think is cool because it allows Raynor to depush and be more effective in lane. Since towers no longer have ammo, there is no issue of structures running out of ammo faster.

Lvl 4 Talents (Current) One of Raynor's best talent tier's honestly couldn't think of any changes to the talents.

Lvl 7 Talents (Current) Puttin' On a Clinic-Removed

Give Me More!-Moved from Talent 1 and Reworked

Revolution Overdrive-Reworked

Fight of Flight- Slight Rework

Lvl 7 Talents (Rework)

Hamstring Shot- Unchanged

Revolution Overdrive- Gain 10% Movement Speed while affected by Inspire. Increase this bonus by 5% for each allied Hero and Structure nearby when Inspire is cast.

Fight or Flight-Whenever Adrenaline Rush Activates it gives 30 Armor, reducing the damage taken by 30% for 4 seconds. Adrenaline Rush can also be manually activated.

Give Me More!- Increase the heal from Adrenaline Rush by 50%. While Adrenaline Rush is active increase the attack speed of Raynor by 30%

*The numbers might need some changes but I feel that each of these talent reworks allow for more play styles and versatility. Puttin' On a Clinic just doesn't seem like the right talent whether too weak or possibly too strong for our boy Jimmy especially with the other mentioned changes to the hero.

Lvl 13 (Current):

Double-Barreled- Part of the Lvl 1 Penetrating Round Talent.

Lvl 13 (Reworked):

Giant Killer – Unchanged

Steel Resolve – Unchanged

Penetrating Round Talent – Hitting an enemy hero with Penetrating Round reduces the targets armor by 20 causing them to take 20% more damage.

*The changes the Raynor's other talents and basic abilities don't require any other changes to the other Lvl. 13 talents.

Lvl 16 (Current):

Bullseye- Moved to Lvl 1 Penetrating Round Talent Quest.

Lvl 16 (Reworked):

Executioner-Unchanged

Cluster Round- Unchanged

Penetrating Round Talent- All enemy Heroes hit by Penetrating round are now stunned for 1 second. For every 10 bonus attack damage earned from Advanced Optics, increase the stun duration by .25 seconds.

*Again the changes here I think allow for versatility and adapt to different situations and play styles. Also note that in my proposed changes Seasoned Marksman would be moved to be part of Raynor's trait.

Conclusion:

I'm not sure how well received these ideas would be but I hope that you all take them in kind. This post is to merely stimulate and generating conversation. I didn't touch the Heroic or Storm Talents because to be honest I'm not sure how to address them or if they would need to be changed at all. Also please forgive any grammar mistakes.

We need a starcraft and overwatch tank

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 06:10 PM PST

This may be more of a rant than a suggestion as the flair suggests, but blaze, from what weve seen and heard so far is looking to be yet another bruiser from the starcraft universe. Now maybe im wrong and blaze is gonna be a full on tank but if its not, some people are gonna have a problem. See as the title suggests, i think we need a starcraft tank. The same can be said for overwatch. So far, the only heroes in the warrior class from these universes are

Artanis: a full fledged bruiser,

Dehaka: although a lot tankier and offers a bit more cc than other bruisers, a hero i still consider to be a bruiser since his philosophy feels like a mix between a bruiser and a tank so hes not really suitable as a solo frontline,

Dva: ummmmm, well she lacks cc and is not solo frontline material, so bruiser,

Zarya: yeah the only way she is fit for the frontline role is when there is a partner in crime so bruiser/support,

You see what im getting to here? When the two universes dont really have a solo frontline capable tank, it really hinders your ability to complete both the warrior quest and the quest for the two universes in qm. Even though this may just be an issue of my not being that good at the bruiser role, i really want to see a sc and ow tank added into the game.

Thoughts?

Chrome blocking HotSAPI uploader, believing it to be malware?

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 02:12 PM PST

Hey all, I know the HotsAPI replay repository is pretty popular here, so I tried to download the uploader from the site, but Chrome is blocking it, deeming it an unsafe file. Downloading from the github gives the same result. It doesn't look like anyone else had this problem, except for a single comment from a day ago, so I'm inclined to believe this is a recent issue. Anyone know what's up?

Can Garrosh Groundbreaker deal more damage?

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 07:06 PM PST

Ever since the ability was weakened, it's made Garrosh one of the weaker tanks (hotslog winrate supports this). I know he has his niche but his damage is god awful. I play as Garrosh and I know he can deal a great amount of damage overtime-I've consistently hit top damage; however, it just feels pathetic play as him, especially lore wise against anything non-heroic. Like the dude can punch holes through Artanis (debatable) in a 1v1 but can't break a minion wave in 20 seconds (yes, you can go for Unrivaled Strength and In For the Kill for subpar clear but that's not the point). I don't want to buff him too much for a Reddit circlejerk but just enough to make everyone happy and I think a 50% damage increase to his Groundbreaker is appropriate. Sounds a like a lot but when it's 81 damage baseline, I think it's alright for a buff.

I'm honestly fine with Groundbreaker's functionality change. I just want a little more damage to compensate for it since using Groundbreaker sometimes lower my DPS.

Azmodan seems extremely powerful at the moment

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 10:53 AM PST

His massive health pool, high damage and tonnes of multi lane control make him so painful to go up against. I found it took nearly 5 reloads of Tracers pistols locked on to him to do anything noticeable to his health bar, of course in the mean time he is obliterating me and my team.

This isn't a one game waa waa post either, been noticing in the last few months he is just insane to go up against and can't really work out a good strategy of taking him down once he powers up 14+.
