This was a great moment that I just had to share. Hopefully some of you will appreciate this. Also, just shows the commitment people have to the game in 2017, and moving into 2018. Thanks for the good times!

Best Passive Tanking Class/Build/Set

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 05:30 PM PST

I'm back to the game after years away, and am having great fun with my Wizard, although surviving at T8+ requires lots of blinking around with Teleport.

I'd like to experiment with a completely different playstyle. Which class is best for wading into the thick of things and absorbing as much damage as possible - either with mitigation/blocking, lifestealing, or avoidance (or some combination of the above)?

I'm particularly interested in a build where the passive bonuses are what affect survivability, so that I can focus my clicks and button presses on damage (although I don't mind the occasional self-heal). I also don't care if I'm slow at killing things. I just want to be able to soak up the hits.

Thanks for your thoughts!

What does the Future hold for Diablo?

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 10:14 PM PST

blizzard really does spoil us a little bit when it comes to their older titles but im not so sure of their motives. blizzard should see diablo 3 as a diablo 2 expansion in terms of sales. they prob are too proud to do that but that is where the sales came from except nothing about d2 made it into d3 other than a title and some lines of text. mr. brevik is right about a lot of things but hes also wrong about a lot of things too. without putting too fine a point on it, db didnt want any diablo game to be real time he had his heart set on turn based and then acted like he invented real time arpg when it was blizzard's idea. the thing about the old assets being hard to re-do, this is sort of interesting because games of that era can easily be re-produced using modern software to improve the textures, so i am skeptical about db's concerns. i am in a game now that allows you to 're-mesh' 2d images into 3d, essentially updating the objects into 3d compatibility. obviously d2 is an isometric or 2d whatever game but i dont see why the same principles cant be applied here even by a community based project, if blizzard doesnt want to invest that time, etc so that at least the textures are updated. all that side others raised the point that starcraft art was updated as well i dont see why d2 art couldnt be treated the same. with enough dedication this game could last 100 years. i imagine a time when we will have fully customizable graphic interface, updated textures for everything it just depends on how tight a grip blizzard wants to maintain on the franchise. im guessing their long term is to put some window dressing and keep selling sequels in hopes ppl stop caring. its been 6 years since diablo 3 and here we are.

Diablo 2 Glide Wrapper

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 09:39 PM PST

I have the glide wrapper installed and working, and its correctly allowed me to scale up the program window without pixelating it. Is there a way to stretch the window to fit widescreen (aka without black bars or pixelation?). Here is what it looks like right now on my 1360x768 screen. http://image.ibb.co/i6Wrpw/wrapper.jpg (the game scales correctly in full-screen mode 800x600 without pixelation or blackbars however i wish to use this mode in window not full-screen)

New player, bunch of questions

Posted: 31 Dec 2017 09:33 PM PST

Hi, I recently started playing d3 with friends who have basically powerlevelled me so far, now I am looking to gear my character up on my own. Am confused about lots of things though.....

1) Are rifts, greater rifts and bounties my 3 methods of farming? If so, what are the situations I would farm each of these?

2) Which method in general is best to farm gear? I need several more pieces to complete my set and start being useful. I have been doing rifts/greater rifts and hoping for gear drops, and using my blood shards (which 95% of the time only give me rares or otherwise undesired legendaries) + cubing rares (but I ran out of materials very fast) to try and get the legendaries I need, but no luck. How do I best get gear? Even getting one piece is a massive pain, I imagine getting the 7-8 pieces I still need will be very hard....

3) People always list stat priorities for builds, but how reasonable is it to assume you get multiple of the BiS stats? I know you can replace one undesirable stat via enchanting, but do you just hope for the best with the other stats?

4) Is there any way to farm gems or is that something I should just passively do while farming other stuff? It doesn't seem like the stat boosts from diamonds etc. is super important.

5) I need to get my 3 special gems on my rings + amulet, but I only have a socket on one of them. Did I get unlucky with the pieces not having sockets, or am I expected to enchant a socket on to them usually?

6) From what I understand, ancients are rare legendaries that are more powerful. Should I start fishing for them once I get my full set if that is even possible? I also read that primals are rare ancients and even better? Are primal ancients the "best" gear you can get and can you realistically farm for them?

7) Any other tips for gearing up? This game is pretty overwhelming and I'm kind of at a loss at how I should best be progressing forwards!

Thank you for any and all help :)
