ZeRo vs. Salem - Race to the Top of PGRv4 Posted: 28 Nov 2017 11:44 AM PST ZeRo's PGRv4 Results
Salem's PGRv4 Results
ZeRo's Losses (besides Salem) Dabuz x2 at 2GGC: ARMS Saga (A) Samsora at DreamHack Atlanta 2017 (S) Nairo at DreamHack Atlanta 2017 (S) Mistake at Low Tier City 5 (B) Nairo x2 at Super Smash Con 2017 (S) Shuton at 2GGC: West Side Saga (A) DarkShad at GameTyrant Expo (S) Trela at Clutch City Clash 2 (C) Mr. R at 2GGC: MkLeo Saga (S+) Salem's Losses (besides ZeRo) Tweek at DreamHack Atlanta 2017 (S) MkLeo at Super Smash Con 2017 (S) Mistake at Super Smash Con 2017 (S) CaptainZack at 2GGC: SCR Saga (S) Abadango at DreamHack Denver 2017 (S) Dabuz at 2GGC: MkLeo Saga (S+) Abadango at 2GGC: MkLeo Saga (S+) Head-to-Head Salem 3-2 ZeRo (EVO 2017 GFs Set 1) (S+) Salem 3-2 ZeRo (EVO 2017 GFs Set 2) (S+) Salem 2-3 ZeRo (PAX Arena) (A) Salem 1-3 ZeRo (GameTyrant Expo) (S) Salem 1-3 ZeRo (The Big House 7) (S) Salem 1-3 ZeRo (DreamHack Denver 2017) (B) Salem 3-1 ZeRo (Midwest Mayhem 10) (B) Salem 2-3 ZeRo (Midwest Mayhem 10) (B) Salem 3-2 ZeRo (Midwest Mayhem 10) (B) Conclusion With the PGRv4 season nearly over, Salem is closer than any other player to dethroning ZeRo as the best Super Smash Bros. for Wii U player in the world. He has won three S or S+ tournaments (EVO, DHATL, FE Saga) to ZeRo's two (SCR, Shine), and has a better worst placement (9th at several events) than ZeRo (13th at MkLeo Saga). However, ZeRo has a 5-4 set advantage versus Salem this season, and notably claimed two A tier victories in his late summer rampage (PAX Arena and West Side Saga) while Salem has not won an A tier. ZeRo has lost to four players not on PGRv3 (Mistake, DarkShad, Cosmos, Trela) to Salem's three (Mistake, Cosmos, dyr). ZeRo carries a 9,000 point lead on the Cloudhead Live Rankings that he mathematically cannot lose even if he goes 0-3 at the 2GGC Championship while Salem wins without dropping a set. However, CloudHead is not quite the same system as the Panda Global Rankings, so take this with a grain of salt. If the season were over now, I suspect ZeRo would remain in first place, with Salem in second. However, the 2GGC Championship could well upend this if ZeRo is upset in his pool and/or Salem wins the tournament. P.S.: If I missed a result please tell me! [link] [comments]

Real-time input display in the training modpack! Posted: 28 Nov 2017 06:18 PM PST https://twitter.com/jugeeya/status/935693143118188544 Hi guys, training modpack dev here again, though it's been a while. The newest update to my modpack has an input display feature so you can analyze inputs in replays and matches! This was actually really crazy to implement, and even if it isn't found that useful, it's an proof of concept I'm proud of. The only real downside is that HELD button presses are not shown, because the surface level language I use does not recognize held button presses. Otherwise, the stick is very accurately done. Thanks as always! [link] [comments]

New to Melee. Can I have some Peach vs Shiek advice? Posted: 28 Nov 2017 05:18 PM PST I main Peach and i'm having some trouble with the Shiek matchup. Im fine with edguarding but I have trouble with approaching and combos. What are all the combos I can do on Shiek? Any kill confirms? Generally, how should I approach, and which of my moves are my best tools for in this match up? Thanks for the help, and if there's already existing guides for this, please let me know. EDIT: I've watched Armada play top shieks and i've learnes from him but since im still a beginner, it'd be nice to have something broken down. [link] [comments]

Region Ranking 2017 - Big Project Update Posted: 28 Nov 2017 07:33 AM PST Hi! You may remember earlier in the month that I announced a large scale region ranking project: https://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/7c3m5h/announcement_which_regions_are_the_best_a_region/ I'm here to present more information! Updates 1: Europe will no longer have an "Other" section. Instead, the EU will be separated into: -United Kingdom -Germany -France -Netherlands -Spain -Italy -Switzerland -Norden (Finland/Sweden/Norway/Denmark/Iceland) 2: The Pacific Northwest and British Columbia will be ranked as the same region due to extremely close links between the scenes. 3: Wyoming and Montana as a region have been dissolved into the Pacific Northwest. 4: I will attempt to salvage as much data as possible to add Central America, South America, and South Asia into the rankings, but data from these areas is very scarce and they would all rank very low due to a lack of international prominence. 5: Certain low-key Japan regions previously listed may not be used, pending further research. However, I would expect at least 5-6 separate Japanese regions to be ranked. Methodology (Partial)The current methodology for determining region placement is to judge by consistency. Step 1: Take a pool of a given region's top players. Step 2: Separate their placements by tournament category. (Compare with Tiers to PGR) Step 3: Average the placements with each individual category (there are 6 categories.) Step 4: Average the upwards of 6 categorical averages among that player. In order to create a separation in category, the following is done: Category 6 = -25% Category 5 = No Change Category 4 = +25% Category 3 = +50% Category 2 = +75% Category 1 = +100% A player's final placement average will have the above adjustments made. If a person's placement average at category 1 (e.g. very small regionals/non-weekly locals) then their final number will be 2, because the increase is set at 100%. Comparatively, an average of 10 between EVO, GENESIS, and Civil War (the three Category 6 events of 2017) would be reduced to 7.5 since there is a 25% reduction. Step 5: Rank the Top 7 and add their average placements together in order to determine the region's average. This is roughly the same methodology used to determine point values with OrionRank, a methodology that is fairly sound in practice after the 2017 updates. Some high placements may cause discrepancies and slight outliers, but separating tournies by category minimizes this. Having done a few of the top-most regions, I can safely say the the methodology is currently sound. Adjustments may be made as I continue to work on the project, but I think a solid Top 5 that most would agree with has already been determined, and makes sense in the context of the available data. There are some additional rules: -Categories 4, 5, and 6 are defined as varying levels of "Major", with 4 being the smallest (typically sub 80-70 entrant) and 6 applying to 3 events (GENESIS, EVO, and Civil War.) -Players will be penalized for not attending at least one of these in their placement sheet. For the EU's sake, as was the case with OrionRank, both BEAST 7 and Syndicate 2017 are considered very low end "Category 4" events. For this reason, certain players (and by extension regions) will ultimately be penalized for lack of attendance at majors. -For regions where a minimum of 7 players cannot be reasonably found, their final region rating will increase by (at least) 20% per missing player. -No weeklies are permitted at this time, unlike OrionRank, where I use a very limited number for the 2017 iterations. I may use MSMs for scarce data out-of-country players (E.g. Waveguider & Destany), but the rule is in place because the ranking is intended to be set at an international level, and SoCal grinding off of their own weeklies is a big problems in rankings historically. See: Less refined weekly management in OrionRank 2016 leading to K9 and Tyrant having unusually high placements. Further UpdatesI will likely have a partial list of players being used per region by tomorrow or Thursday. I will be doing a significant amount of work today. My intent is to, if time is forgiving, release this as a four-part article starting the 4th (this Monday), but I may do it on the 11th. The primary goal in release is to not conflict with either OrionRank (Release date TBD, likely early Jan.) or the upcoming PGRv4, who've stated(?) they would like to release around the Holidays. Further Questions & SuggestionsI can answer probably most of what's asked, and I'm willing to take suggestions. PNW was changed due to suggestions in the previous thread, as was EU based on Marcbri's comment, as was my decision to consider a number of regions I hadn't previously. I APPRECIATE ANY DATA YOU CAN PROVIDE The working title for the project is "EagleRank", fyi, but this may change in the future. [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Nov 2017 12:32 PM PST Hi guys, some of you might remember that a couple of years ago, there was a Falcon punch t-shirt that was sold only for a limited time. This was the design. I'm trying to make a custom t-shirt with this design, but I need a higher resolution picture in order to do so. If anybody has the t-shirt or the design, can you post a picture of it or PM me so I can use it to make the t-shirt? I would very much appreciate it! [link] [comments]
