Destiny is one of the most shallow, linear, vertical progression MMO-esque games ever and it's a shame.

Posted: 05 Nov 2017 07:23 AM PST

I'm a PC player new to Destiny and let me say after reading up on the games lore and watching vids from Byf I was more than excited to jump into the Destiny universe. The game looks great, plays great and sounds great but is shallow to a fault.

ZERO horizontal progression. We essentially all play the same characters with the same weapons and how we dress and the color of our weapons seems to be the only difference.

No crafting, resources or skill trees. I mean you could argue there are skills but.....c'mon now.

DLC coming with a new power level and level cap which is more linear vertical progression. I won't even compare games like Guild Wars 2 or Elder Scrolls Online from a horizontal progression standpoint because Destiny is a shooter first and I get it but even games like The Division, Warframe and hell even Defiance have more depth. It's a real shame that all of the great things about this game are wasted on a lack of depth. Not salty just really disappointed.

EDIT: Just want to add that I'm in love with the game from an aesthetic and gameplay perspective. MMO-esque and co-op games for the most part take place in a pure fantasy setting and Destiny's world, lore, gear, weapons etc are a breath of fresh air. I ABSOLUTELY love all of those things and just want a reason to play it more.

EDIT: Many people have said it's a shooter with MMO elements and I understand that but even as a shooter it lacks stats like how many of each enemy killed, favorite weapon, chests looted etc and for PVP it seems stats are missing entirely. I've heard you can see all of this on Bungie.net but It really should be in game.

I really miss the heroic strike playlist

Posted: 05 Nov 2017 03:35 AM PST

There is no doubt, strikes are fun. But after you hit a higher powerlevel, they are getting pretty easy in my opinion. And the loot is not that great either. Sure, there are weekly milestones for doing strikes which give you powerful gear, but once they are completed, they are irrelevant at some point. Until the weekly reset.. Just keep the current playlist for low level players, also nightfall and add a heroic playlist for like, i dont know.. level 250+ players.. for a bigger challenge and better loot.

That would be awesome!

Edit: actually there is no milestone for strikes. Sorry for getting that wrong. What I meant was the weekly clan progress where you get clan xp for doing strikes

This is a Social Game??

Posted: 05 Nov 2017 02:17 AM PST

Destiny is supposed to be a social game but the devs cannot seem to get out of their own way for this to work.

  • Text Chat (PC): This needs to be on by default and should work in the Tower/Farm and Patrol zones. How many times have you wanted to tell another guardian in a friendly way how to activate the taken public event heroic mode just to watch them mow down any chance of doing so? Oh and yes we need clan chat. Nothing like adding a new member and have the clan not be able to even say hi.

  • Fireteams: The move to 4v4 for PvP just means that now we have 3 people for patrols or strikes. 4 people for pvp or 6 people for raiding. Why can't I patrol with my 5 other clan mates and then go into PvP or Raid? It sucks having to leave people out and I think it leads to members in clans leaving or people moving on early to other games that help support their clan. Also, if I meet a new guardian in patrol and invite them to my fireteam why do one of us need to fly to orbit and back down agian... Come on Bungie fix your tech.

  • Drops: I am fine with seeing the Cryptarch for some things but we need strike and event specific loot and we need that loot to show in the feed. I loved after a crucible map to see what exotic or ship or shader my clanmates and friends got in D1. Heck it was even cool just to see what others on your team got. In strikes I would love to see it auto decrypt when picked up so you can see what your team got. It starts a conversation and is a great feeling when you know someone got something cool.

  • Matchmaking: Just let us find the people we need in queue for events. If you want to keep prestige off limits then fine but slap a disclaimer on the raid/nightfall/trials and let us know it works best with voice and coordination and success cannot be guaranteed when you sign up for the queue. If things start to go south people can part ways and elect to try to queue again or call it.

  • For Fun: Maybe add an in game calendar for sign ups. What I mean by this is let approved members be able to set up clan events from "Thursday night tower dance party" to "Friday night Trials starts at 9PM EST" Allowing people to sign up for the even without having to use methods outside the game. This can show up on an in game calendar for the clan. It also allows new members who might not know everyone to jump in without having to message individual members for things. This could be great for helping with the Rat King or just for setting up raid night plus Bungie could have important dates like SRL or Iron Banner along with holidays posted in game for people to see when they are coming.

TLDR: Text Chat on PC. We need to be able to communicate. Fireteams need to be reworked to support multiple activities with your friends. Drops need to show who is getting what out in the world and in strikes and pvp. Matchmaking needs to be queue and go for all events that are not prestige. Fun QoL feature. Give us in game tools like calendars to use to plan clan events.

Just some of the things that have been on my mind. Thanks for reading and sorry for any typos it is late and I am tired. Hope everyone has a great day.

And those are just results from a cursory search on Reddit.

In my opinion D2 Crucible is far, FAR better than D1 Crucible in almost every way.

The majority of people moaning about the state of PvP in D2 are still, I guarantee, trying to play it the way they played D1 PvP. Just because you're dying a lot, and can't jump into a mob of enemies and kill them all with a Stormcaller melee and Matador, doesn't mean it's not good. It also doesn't mean we need to make post after post after post saying D2 crucible is boring, broken or not fun. You don't speak for all of us. Some of us are really enjoying the new PvP.

Control on Emperor's Respite is so unbalanced im surprised it made it past QA

Posted: 05 Nov 2017 05:10 AM PST

If you spawn at A you win. A and B is so much closer than C and B. It boggles my mind how the people who did Halo can fuck up this badly. From B flag, you can defend the 2 main lanes to get to B easily, and if someone goes to A, you can just converge and teamshot them so easily.

Ive seen people complaining about this map since September, and they STILL havent changed B placement yet? Why isnt B off in the tunnels on the far sides?

The lack of grimoire, in-game or otherwise, removes a lot of depth from Destiny’s lore

Posted: 05 Nov 2017 09:48 AM PST

If there's one thing I miss more than anything, it's grimoire. I used to turn off my console after a day of grinding or after beating a raid for the first time, and lie in bed with my phone reading my new grimoire card unlocks. I thought they were fascinating and deep, and they brought new meaning to the game. I especially loved anything to do with the Hive, so when I saw a whole strike centered around stopping an attempt to draw the attention of Oryx's sister, Savathûn, I got really excited. I mentioned it to my friend, a first time player, but he didn't really understand who Savathûn was or why that was significant lore wise. Without Grimoire, it's hard to appreciate a large portion of Destiny's universe and that saddens me. Unlocking all pages in the Books of Sorrow and learning about the Hive's Origins was one of the most fun things for me, it's unfortunate that instead of incorporating grimoire into the game, they went the full opposite route and got rid of entirely.

I wish there had a grimoire codex in the game menus, so I could kill time waiting before raids and at the tower, brushing up on my lore and having a greater appreciation for in-game events.

Unpopular opinion: I️ thoroughly enjoy the crucible in Destiny 2

Posted: 05 Nov 2017 07:52 AM PST

Now before you go angrily typing in the comments, allow me to elaborate. I've been playing Destiny since the Destiny 1 beta, and for all three years of Destiny 1, I hated crucible. When a quest required me to do something in the crucible, I would move on to another quest, pushing it off for as long as possible. I only ever played Trials once, and got a whopping four wins. Then came Destiny 2. I figured I'd give it a chance, and I absolutely love it. I have so much fun every time I play. Now, I'm happy to completely the Call to Arms milestone every week. Yes, the crucible has some issues. We should be able to choose our game types, competitive should be more competitive, etc., however, despite these issues, I still have loads of fun. Ok, now you can angrily type in the comments.

I love this game. I jumped on board after a lot of nagging during Destiny 1 year 2. A few months ago I started experimenting with APIs and recently I dug my heels into Destiny's. @bungie I have thoughts hehe but I'll save em ;)

I did it because I hate advertisements, etc. and enjoy learning. Please report any bugs via this thread or send me a message directly.

And feel free to make suggestions as this is also a project for you. 💕

Analysis on the current shortcomings of the Mod System and how to overcome them.

Posted: 05 Nov 2017 08:00 AM PST

I'd like to start off this post by saying that I'm just trying to contribute to the improvement of the mod system, I do realize that some of the stuff that I'll say might sound a bit harsh. However, I will try to propose and suggest solutions to the problems that I personally see with the mod system.

I think that it's no secret that when we first heard about the mod system we were really excited about it and saw the great potential that it had. Many of us started theorizing about what will the mods do, some of us were expecting to see weapon silencers, extended mag, or something similar to the mod systems that we're used to in games like Call of Duty. However, the mod system wasn't exactly like we expected it to be. But, I don't want to lose hope, I know that the mod system could be improved, just like how bungie improved the artifacts system, from being one of the most useless slots our guardian had, to one of the most important and game changing slots, that added complexity and game changing abilities to our guardian. Here are a few problems I see with the current mod system:

  • The mod system doesn't offer a real reason for players to care: Unfortunately the current perks that the mods provide really seem unnoticeable. Additionally, the majority of the mods provide perks which are not really that useful. Let's call this Problem 1
  • The mod system isn't as complex as many players want it to be: When comparing the complexity of our current mod system to the complexity of mod systems in other games, the mod system that we have in Destiny 2 unfortunately falls short. Many games like Call of Duty have a sort of leveling system for weapons, which enables you to put more mods as you level up that specific weapon. We'll call this Problem 2
  • The only incentive to get a legendary mod is to get the 5 Light Level increase, and not becaus the legendary mod is better than the rare mod: Based on my personal experience, and the experience of other Destiny 2 players, I feel like Legendary mods are exactly the same as rare mods in terms of how much they affect the game. As an example, both rare and legendary mods seem to provide x%, improvement to Y, and since it takes 3 rare mods to create a legendary mod, shouldn't the effect be 3x% improvement or even 2x% improvement instead of x%? We'll refer to this point as Problem 3

The question that might now be on your mind is probably, what could Bungie do about that? I personally lean towards a complete reworking of the mods system. Bungie has previously done that with the exotic bounties system which they scrapped from the game, so I believe that Bungie will be capable of reworking the mod system just like they reworked the quests, exotic bounties, and bounties, while moving from Destiny 1 to Destiny The Taken King. The set of the solutions and suggestions that I'll talk about in this post will make the mod system become more interesting and it will also help the game in other indirect ways that you'll see me discussing later on in this post.

I'll break down the process of reworking the mod system into three main steps:

  1. Combine some of the older mods

  2. Mod reworking

  3. Implementing new mods.

1.Combine some of the older mods

So I think that many people have realized by now that most mods have 3 versions of them, each version is dedicated to an elemental type or a subclass. I think that mods like this should be combined into 1 big mod which helps all subclass.

Example: The Paragon mod allows your abilities to recharge faster when having X subclass equipped. How about Bungie changes so that it allows your abilities to recharge faster no matter what subclass you have equipped.

What problems would these suggested solutions help overcome?

Many people in Destiny community have complained about how that mods are taking up too much space, doing a change like that to mods which have 3 variants will mean that the amount of space that mods take will be greatly decreased, meaning that players will be able to have a slot for each mod, and the issue of having to transfer mods over to the vault to create newer ones, will not be as as common of a problem anymore.

2. Mod Reworking

This in my opinion will be the biggest change to the mod system, to add complexity to it, and to give players an incentive to level up their gear and do activities. I'll divide this topic into two subtopics, which are:

  • Reworking the mod slots.
  • Reworking the legendary mods.

Reworking the mod slots:

Q. What is exactly going to be reworked?

A. The first and most important thing to me is the number of mod slots. I believe that Bungie should give guardians 2 additional mod slots to unlock on armor pieces (so that we have a total of 3 on armor pieces) and 1 additional mod slot to unlock on Weapons (so that we have a total of 2 mod slots on weapons), this is that they'll require to be unlocked:

  • Mod Slot 1: Can be unlocked by getting you piece or armor or weapon to Light Level 300 (this is the mod slot which will be added to Armor pieces and not to weapons)
  • Mod Slot 2: I'll call this mod slot Specialized mod slot, this will be where you'll be able to equip the specialized mods which i'll discuss later on in this post. This slot will require the player to complete different activities to unlock this mod slot on different armor sets and different weapons. This is how players can unlock this mod slot for different weapons and armor sets:
    • Exotics: Get 100 kills using said exotic weapon, or with said exotic equipped.
    • Raid Armor set: Complete any 10 raids in Destiny 2
    • Iron Banner set: Open 20 Iron Banner packages.
    • Crucible armor set: Complete 30 crucible matches
    • Trials of The Nine set: Complete 25 Trials of The Nine matches
    • Vanguard armor set: Complete 30 strikes. Normal strikes count as 1 and Nightfall strikes count as 3.
    • Playstation Exclusive armor set: Complete 30 strikes. Normal strikes count as 1 and Nightfall strikes count as 3.
    • Destination Armor set: Complete 50 public events, patrols, adventures, or lost sectors on that specific destination.
    • Faction Armor set: Open 20 packages with the specific faction
    • Eververse Armor set: level up 15 times after reaching level 20.
    • Scout rifles, Auto rifles, Pulse rifles, and hand canons: Get 100 kills using a weapon from the weapon type
    • Sidearms, Submachine guns, Fusion rifles, swords, trace rifles, rocket launchers, and grenade launchers: get 50 kills using a weapon from the weapon type

I made a 2 concept images to help people visualize what I have in mind. Here in this album as you can see we have two pictures, one of me inspecting Mod Slot 1, which as I've discussed requires players to get their gear up to 300 to unlock it, I don't have it unlocked because my helmet is only at 297. In the second picture i'm inspecting Mod Slot 2 or as I call it the Specialized Mod Slot which can be unlocked by completing 30 strikes because this is a PlayStation exclusive helmet. The little meter indicates how many strikes I've completed to help keep track of my progress.

Here is how it'll look like on weapons. Weapons as I've said will have a total of 2 Mod slots. The regular mod slot that we're used to having, and an additional mod slot called Specialized mot slot. In the first picture here as you can see, I'm hovering over the mod slot to see what is required for me to do to unlock it. The Adjudicator is an SMG, so the Specialized mod slot on it requires 50 kills using the weapon. In the Second picture I'm hovering over the Specialized mod slot after unlocking it. As you can see, there are a few Specialized mods available to choose from, we'll discuss these mods, how to get them, and what do they do, in the last topic which is 3. Implementing new mods.

Reworking the legendary mods:

The second big change that I'd like to talk about is changing how much a Legendary mod matters. I'd like to see bungie rework the mod system so that Legendary mods are different from rare mods. Here is what I mean.

Legendary mods need to provide more to the game more than just a light level increase. So to do that I propose that Bungie does the following:

  • Change it so that it requires 7 (changed from 3) rare mods to create a single Legendary mod.
  • The effect of legendary mods should be 3 times higher than that of the rare mods. (that will only work for mods which do actually provide a game changing effect and not to mods like Solar, ark, or Void mods.)

What problems would these suggested solutions help overcome?

  • They will help overcome Problem 2 which I discussed earlier in the post. It will add complexity to the mod system and will make the mod system feel more alive.
  • It'll also overcome Problem 3. Changing the system so that Legendary mods matter will make Legendary mods feel truly legendary, they'll no longer feel like something you're equipping just to increase your light level

Not only that, but these suggested solutions will help the game in another way, they'll act as an incentive for people to level up their gear, and as an incentive for players that already have the full raid set to go back and complete the raid a few more times, and not just the raid but all the activities which help unlock the specialized mod socket.

3. Implementing new mods:

This is where things start to get interesting, and this is truly the biggest change Bungie could do the mod system, without further ado, I introduce you to Specialized mods:

Specialized mods:

So I've mentioned Specialized mods a few times throughout this post, and I'm sure that many of you are wondering about what exactly are specialized mods.

Q. What exactly are specialized mods

A. Specialized mods are mods obtainable from completing Raids, Strikes, Crucible Matches, Iron Banner matches, or Nightfall strikes. Each and every Specialized mod gives the player a perk that helps them with the activity that they got that Specialized mod from. These mods Do NOT Stack meaning that 5 of X specialized mod are the same as 1 of X specialized mod.

Here are a few specialized mods which I've thought about made compiled up in a picture: https://imgur.com/CIPcagr.png

Here is a table If you can't open the picture:

Raid Specialized mods: Strikes Specialized mods: Destinations Specialized mods: General Specialized mods:
One of them: The Psionic protection stays longer while the guardian is standing in the royal pools Engram Collector: Strikes have a higher chance of dropping engrams, and drops more engrams in terms of quantity Engram Collector: Destination activities have a higher chance of dropping engrams, and drops more engrams in terms of quantity Mobility Improvement Mod:Improves the Mobility on the piece of gear.
I Can See You: The fog in the pleasure gardens is weakened and allows the guardian to see better. Disciple of The Vanguard: Increases the amount of tokens revived from completing a strike Pirate: The radar's ability to detect chests and destination materials is massively improved Recovery Improvement Mod: Improves the Recovery on the piece of gear
Olympic Runner: Increases the speed of guardian while carrying a psionic charge Keeper of the Pack: faster revives in strikes, and stronger over shield after revives. The Mentor: The damage dealt to enemies in public events is increased exponentially based on the number of participants. Resilience Improvement Mod:Improves the Resilience on the piece of gear
Emperor's Beloved: Increased heavy ammo drops when killing enemies during the Calus encounter. Like a Titan: Melee kills in strikes have a chance of increasing armor and max health Ф Hive disruptor: Increases damage against Hive
Bather's Killer: Increased damage against bathers in the royal pools encounter. Defender of the Light: Chance of creating orbs of light when killing minions of the darkness in strikes. Ф Fallen disruptor: Increases damage against Fallen
Traveler's blessing: Chance of creating orbs of light when killing majors during the gauntlet encounter. The Light is Everywhere: Increases the amount of super energy received per kill in strikes. Ф Taken disruptor:Increases damage against Taken
Psion Hunter: Increases the damage against Psions and projections in the Leviathan raid. Ф Ф Cabal disruptor: Increases damage against Cabal
Empror Calus Has Spoken: Increases the amount of super energy given when killing Cabal in the Leviathan Raid Ф Ф Vex disruptor: Increases damage against Vex

Blessing of the nine: provides a random perk to the weapon or armor. Only one could be equipped at a time.

I'd like to note that Blessing of The Nine is an exotic mod which is NOT obtainable from Trials of the Nine, the system of how to obtain Blessing of the Nine mods will be discussed later on.

Despite me having many ideas and suggestions on Crucible Specialized mods and Trials of The Nine Specialized mods, I think that Bungie would never implement something that would mess with the PvP balance.

So the next logical question that some of you might be asking is:

Q. How can players obtain specialized mods?

A. That depends on the category of the mod. Here is how players can obtain them:

  • Raid Specialized mods: Obtainable from the Normal mode and the Prestige mode Leviathan raid. Encounter specific mods are obtainable to their respective encounters.
  • Strikes Specialized mods: Obtainable from completing strikes as a reward from killing the boss.
  • Destinations Specialized mods: Obtainable from completing flash points on destinations, completing public events, doing adventures, or looting lost sectors.
  • General Specialized mods: Obtainable as a reward for completing random activities such as: strikes, crucible matches, Trials of the Nine games, story missions, and adventures.
  • Blessing of The Nine: An exotic mod which never drops in the wild, to buy A Blessing of The Nine mod, players have to either pay 200 Legendary shards to Xur in exchange for a Blessing of the Nine mod or players have to exchange 5 legendary mods (35 blue mods) for 1 Blessing of The Nine mod. Here is a graphical representation of that.

What problems would these suggested solutions help overcome?

  • They will overcome Problem 1 players will care so much about the mods because the mods will provide game changing perks and effects to the guardian.
  • They'll also help overcome Problem 2, players feeling like the mod system is not complex will feel like it's complex due to the amount of work players are required to put in to unlock the specialized mod slot and to get all the mods that they need.

Not just that, but it'll help the game in other indirect ways:

  • Could greatly incentivize players to do raids, strikes, crucible matches, and public events, to be able to get the Specialized mods that they need, players will also find a reason to level up to be able to equip multiple mods on their gear.
  • Players have always asked for raid gear with raid specific perks, my suggestions do exactly that, they provide the players with raid specific perks which help them during the raid.
  • This could very well be our first look at a Transmog system, which sort of enables players to change how their gear looks. Back in Destiny 1 I played The Wrath of The Machine quite a bit and got tired of how the gear looked, if a system like the specialized mod system was in place, I'd have been able to use my iron lord gear and then put Raid Specialized mods on it, so that way I'd have raid gear which doesn't look like the raid gear.
  • The Blessing of The Nine mod could sort of replace the void that the absence of random rolls created, by allowing players to have 1 more extra perk on their guns.

These are all of my suggestions for the mod system, as I've said earlier in my post, I'd be more than happy to reply to people in the comments and would love to receive player's feedback and your opinions on my suggestions. Please let me know what you think.

Edit 1: /u/owestryfan suggested that Bungie adds specialized mods which do additional damage to certain enemy races, I've worked on adding that to the post. The picture and table should be updated. Thank you owestryfan for your amazing suggestion!

Was it ever confirmed whether or not there was an EXP cooldown?

Posted: 05 Nov 2017 05:59 AM PST

I just did a heroic public event with a medallion on, with the last bit of adds and the completion i got 10k exp which should be 1/8th of my exp bar, a pretty significant amount, but i only visually got a tiny sliver.

EDIT: Just did another one and i got a huuuuuge chunk of exp on the bar, but it was still 10k exp. I think whoever made the post speculating this (Can't find it, please help, it was on the front page a few days ago) was right. This feels really bad... Why would i rush Public events or pop medallions if I'm gated? I've been okay with everything about the game so far but c'mon man don't gate my grind!

EDIT2: Did a 3rd one where i got what looked like 3x or 4x the amount of the initial sliver but only half of what i got from the 2nd event.

I would love an expansion where we fought giant monsters as world bosses in new public events. (Assuming Ahamkara are making a comeback)

It's rather amusing how often I suggest Bungie do Blizzard things in Destiny like in WoW but it's because Blizzard does so many things right.

Titan should have the sea monster attack the rig and pop up more often to slam down on parts where public events normally occur. Almost Kraken-style.

Earth should have the giant Cabal war beasts roaming around in a pack (3-5 of them) and chase after people roaming around.

Nessus should have the gatekeeper actually block a path so people have a good reason to rally against the asshole.

Io should have a taken ogre in a swampy cave that frequently spawns mobs from the shallow water.

The weapon that Banshee has been working on should turn into an exotic with a quest line which I think would be awesome.

That final boss fight was lame af

Posted: 05 Nov 2017 10:20 AM PST

[Spoiler]

Seriously, Ghaul wasn't at any point challenging, and then right when he dies and resurrects into a giant titan-like monster, and I think there's going to be an actual boss fight, he just...gets poofed away magically by the traveler?

What?

Literally the whole selling point of the Light is that it makes you immortal, and you keep coming back for more. Ghaul just...never doing that kinda defeats the entire pretense of him ever gaining any power or anything.

Just my two cents, I thought it was kind of a limp dick attempt at a final fight.

I knew that the game was very well optimized. But this is some next level stuff right here.

Dear bungies, as a d1 veteran and a new pc player....

Posted: 05 Nov 2017 08:03 AM PST

I've got a few things to say. First I played the hell put of Destiny 1 (a few thousand hours). It was one of the few games that I was ok with going back to a console from pc to play. When I heard Destiny 2 was coming to pc I was thrilled. I didn't touch anything with destiny 2 until it came out on pc. I avoided online articles, the sub reddit, and even forced my brother to not play it when I was in the room to avoid spoilers. Now, it's been about 2 weeks and I have to say, the story is a big improvement....but what the hell were you thinking?

I spent the whole day yesterday working with a random fireteam of 6 other guardians to beat the raid. What did I get from It? 23 stupid tokens and a chest piece. Granted the chest piece was a 305 which is nice but when i turned in my tokens I got.....You guessed it, another chest piece. And this was 298. Why? Why is it that I can dedicated an entire day to your endgame raid and be rewarded with shit. No raid weapons, no shaders, and no fun. Granted, this is the first week of the raid and so it is going to be harder because we are all inexperienced in the raid. But in d1 we were rewarded for that. I don't want tokens, I WANT GEAR!! It's pretty obvious these tokens were a fuck you move because you didn't even dedicate a new vendor to those tokens. Granted its funny that the sweeper bot is the vendor but it just shows laziness. What happened to raid exotics? In D1 we farmed vault of glass and crotas end for the possibility of even getting the vex mythoclass or nechrochasm. Instead you've turned the grind of the raids in to a pointless cheese to complete and exotic quest that everyone gets for a mediocre weapon and f**king tokens. And now, even though I don't have the prestige raid, I find out the only change is the shader attached to the armour pretty much?!?!?! Hard mode raids actually meant something to people in Destiny 1. Now I can tell you I'll maybe attempt it once if even that and never touch it again.

Take this with a grain of salt if you want. I'm sure a lot of this has ready been said since I'm late to the party. I love the destiny games. I enjoy popping on and help my clan members and friends level a second or third character. I enjoy the community. I enjoy the story. Please don't make the same mistakes with destiny 1. I'm ok with grinding in the game. I enjoy the grind of destiny. But this raid is essentially pointless. If I'm going to do the grind give me actual loot or give me a higher token drop rate. (Preferably give me the actual loot and fck the tokens) You made Destiny 1 a much better game over time with the expansions so I have faith you can make this better. But you shouldn't have to make it better over time. You should of had it right on release and made something that was already working well in destiny 1 even better. Instead you took a step back and said fck that.

Sincerely, A fan

Everybody is saying how they want an exotic sword when all I want is an exotic linear fusion rifle.

The tartantula feels so satisfying in PvP when you pull off back to back precision one shot kills, almost like how snipers were when they were at their prime in D1.

Its been a month since i took a peak on this sub. All thanks to Maria (the Hurricane). Take a peak to know how Maria f**k my life.

Posted: 05 Nov 2017 10:30 AM PST

Ever since the hurricane Maria nova bomb came it f**ked a little island called Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 on September the 19 of 2017. It's been over 45 or 47 days since that horrible day. Today is the first day that my phone finally struck some luck nearby and got some decent signal, and well (I know that my Destiny-Addiction its pretty bad when some shit like this happens and all i want to know is whats going on and what did i miss) aside from being unable to know how things are going in my favorite game, and how people are reacting to them. It really helps me keep building hope and not letting me lose my mind.

Don't know if another player from where I live or from the states has already made a post about this (first time on the web since a month) and is ok if it has been done.

Hope everyone can keep having fun and getting super pissed with w/e changes have been made or not. Just keep doing what all of you guardians know how to do best for this lost guardian. It looks like I'll be lost in the Vex network for like 3 or 5 more months until the electricity gets back to my community. Until then my wish is that whoever lives near me or on the states and reads my post, don't lose hope, keep on going and reach out to those you love because its hard to know that everything can change in a day.

The one thing that has been consistently awesome in both games: the music

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 08:08 PM PDT

Especially during the title scene, from the OG Destiny to the dark and bellowing Taken King and the old rustic yet still good Rise of Iron, and now with D2, the music is pretty great.

Good on the music devs for going an awesome job, for the one thing I don't think anyone can complain about.

As someone who hated the new crucible, Trials of the Nine made me do a complete 180°

Posted: 05 Nov 2017 06:39 AM PST

All of these bothersome changes from D1 actually make sense in Trials.

• Survival is a fantastic game mode that gives you another chance if you felt cheated in your past life

• The lengthy cooldowns force some pretty awesome gunfights

• The power ammo spawn at the start is great at deterring campers, and giving both teams a sense of urgency from the get-go

Trials is honestly what all of this new crucible bs was designed for, and personally I love it.

But wait, what about the rest of Crucible?

Well if you've been paying attention to this place for a while then I'm sure you know that nobody likes it.

• Quickplay is too sweaty

• Supers don't charge until the game is almost over, which basically forces you to use it or lose it

• N + 1 versus 1 = CERTAIN DEATH

• Mobility is pretty lame (shameless Hunter main plug fix this pls)

• (replace this one with any of the front page posts from this sub, I ran out of ideas but the salt never ends)

Trials = great for new sandbox

Anything else = not good for new sandbox

The point of this post? Please make quickplay more casual, but not at the expense of Trials!

Customizable Subclass Perks Concept

Posted: 05 Nov 2017 02:27 AM PST

I did not make this. Concept by Justin LaForge:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=K6PF-WYhavo

Bring back customizable perks for variety.

In Destiny 1:

  • Players are given a choice to choose any of the 3 Perks offered in 4 columns to cater to their play style. So if you do not like a Perk, you can freely choose another one.

In Destiny 2:

  • Players have to choose any of the 2 Sets of Perks offered to cater to their play style. So if you do not like a Perk in either one of the Sets, you are forced to use it.

For example, if you love all of the Perks in the Gunslinger's Way of the Outlaw but hated the last Perk which grants you a very short Golden Gun duration with 6 shots? Too bad, Bungie forced you to use it. You cannot swap its corresponding Perk from the other Path. This destroys the player's freedom of choice. Bungie wanted the game to focus on our choices, yet they forced us to use a fixed system.

Even Bungie said it themselves.

Especially this part.

Endgame may have a problem to some currently but I think the lack of choice for choosing perks affects one of the main components of Destiny. Become Legend through the choices you make. It seems like we lost this feel in Destiny 2.

D2 crucible is possibly the least amount of fun I've ever had as a single player in a PvP game.

Posted: 04 Nov 2017 02:22 PM PDT

I've purchased Destiny 2 on PS4 and PC. I have friend groups that I play with regularly on both versions, but mostly PvE content. Whenever I played Destiny alone in the past I would tend to play crucible, but I don't think that's going to be a possibility for D2 because of how horrible the experience is.

I've always been really good, to at least slightly above average at almost any PvP shooter you could think of. Halo, CoD, Overwatch, Battlefield, and D1 are all games I have been able to enjoy and be successful at as a single player, usually with no communications enabled. However, D2 is the complete opposite. I almost can't even get a kill on this game playing by myself unless I follow the team around the entire match.

When the PC version first launched I was thrilled after my first day of playing crucible because I was actually having fun. People were using a wide variety of weapons and fighting randomly around the map. It only took about a week for that to change; the weapon mix on PC has definitely stayed a bit wider than on console, but I literally cannot fight anyone on my own, every encounter consists of one shot hitting and the player running away to the team or just players running in groups and team-shotting straight from the start. If I attempt to go off and play slightly away from my group, I'm killed instantly. This leaves me to choose between playing civil war and stand in a line with my team, shooting at the enemies bundled on the other side of the map, or dying the entire match ruining it for myself and probably my team as well.

Pair this with the fact that my game has been stuttering during matches since the latest patch and the almost non-existent rewards for playing crucible, I find myself questioning why I'm even playing and quitting after 2 or 3 bad games. I'm disappointed that something I had really enjoyed has turned into a stress inducing experience.

TLDR: Crucible really sucks if you want to play by yourself and not run in a herd every match. I'm literally only making this post because I'm so stressed from playing that I needed to bitch about it.
