Strike teams should be 4 players to match the 4v4 only PvP. That way a party of 4 can bounce from PvE to PvP all night rather than run PvP then have to lose a player to run strikes.

One big THANK YOU to Bungie for captioning Shaxx in crucible matches

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 11:44 AM PDT

Long story short, I'm deaf and I just want to appreciate Bungie for doing this, deaf people were missing out a lot with the dialogue not being captioned and I also requested it in the beginning of the Taken King with this post https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/3nrzty/im_deaf_and_shaxx_isnt_captioned_i_am_missing_out/?st=J5FNA82O&sh=2126d5da , they finally delivered in D2 and it's the best thing ever.

I bet the guardians forgot to tell Xur that the Tower has been attacked, and I can only imagine his reaction when he comes by to sell his goods. And there's no one there.

Beta Bestiary

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 09:37 AM PDT

So while everyone else was busy killing each in the crucible or dying on that final round of the boss encounter in the strike (so many times). I was jumping head first into enemy encounters so I could take snapshots of all the enemies and intentionally getting killed so I could see what all their weapons and abilities were called. I then took all that data and compiled it into a Bestiary!

https://lowlidev.com.au/destiny/beta-bestiary

This was an idea I've had since like Year 2 but never got round to realizing it in a sharable form. The Beta gave me an opportunity to revisit that idea as well as find extra enjoyment out of what was a very limited showcase of the PvE content.

Also sorry to all those people that had to run with this "noob" who kept intentionally dying. Just know I've probably put more hours into Destiny 1 than you ;)

Why Bungie? WHY!?

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 08:26 AM PDT

Why in menu it's ordered Resilience/Mobility/Recovery, but on armor it's Mobility/Resilience/Recovery.

WHY!?

I would trade a bit of our "witty and funny" ghost for a more lore and technical ghost giving us relevant information regarding our enemies, planets and guns from the Gilmore cards.

Posted: 21 Jul 2017 09:29 PM PDT

Incredible environment design, fantastic music, but what kills it is the cheesy dialogue from our ghost. Zavala is yelling information at us while our ghost is trying to be emotional for our character. Idk. It's off putting.

It'd be dope as fuck going through the strike having back and forth conversations with our Ghost with knowledge of entire galactic libraries and archives (one of the very first missions in D1) and a vast collection of books from dead guardians. Imagine that shit.

But instead I get, "vex milk waterfall!"

Edit: A good example would be having us, our ghost and Failsafe giving backstory on the Colony Ship AIs, why Exodus Black was transporting Siva, and why do the Colony Ship AIs and SubMinds refer Rasputin as "The Tyrant"

50+ Cutscenes? Damn.

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 08:27 AM PDT

So during the Bungie/Activision/NotSoSure Panel at SDCC Bungie stated that Destiny 2 will have over 50 cutscenes. Holy crap. Please, please let my guardian speak. I am definetly very excited for this new thematic approach.

DestinyOverwatch made a great video where I found his information. Here

I will try and find a link to the original tweet sent out.

People leaving a 4v4=automatic loss most of the time

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 09:25 AM PDT

Unless you're a god tier player, someone leaving a 4v4 cause they just can't stand to lose or whatever is a death sentence. 5v6 was doable. 4v3 just doesn't work. It would be fine if a new player would come in quickly to replace. By more often than not it stays 4v3 even 4v2 for the rest of the match.

Can the names of enemies be a few points bigger?

Posted: 21 Jul 2017 11:54 PM PDT

(discussion) I've not seen this posted yet, but is that possible? I'm not blind by any means (I don't even need glasses), but I can't hardly read the names of anything. I couldn't imagine playing on a monitor. I'd have to have my nose an inch away from the screen. Maybe an option in the accessibility menu?

EDIT:

Apparently monitors are ok.

Quickplay should rely more on CBMM than SBMM

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 03:47 AM PDT

If quickplay is said be low intensity PvP then a solo player should be able to play the way he wants shouldn't care about matchmaking with

Competitive is sweats and it should be but quickplay is casual SBMM doesn't make sense for it

Hope you guys get what I am trying to convey

Also PvP or at least quickplay should support 6v6 dropping 2 guys from raid to play PvP is rather backwards for game moving forward, considering raids are still 6 man in D2

Pulse Grenades Provide Better Damage Than Any Super In PvE

Posted: 21 Jul 2017 07:57 PM PDT

Each grenade deals more damage to the boss than any super can during its duration. At one point, I was hitting 852 per pulse with 8 pulses going off in a little under 6 seconds. Giving you 6,816 total damage for the grenade's duration.

With Dawnblade, you get to throw 6 projectiles at a rate of almost exactly one throw per second, each dealing 1,014 to the boss on a direct hit. Giving you 6,084 total damage for the super's duration.

Strikers having 2 grenade charges leads to boss damage looking like this.

Only makes supers look even more underwhelming. Incredibly long wait time, only to be outclassed by a grenade.

The Guardians of Destiny 2

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 04:15 AM PDT

Hi Guardians!

If you've been following my posts over the past few days about the Titan, Hunter and Warlock armour sets then you'll know that I've played about a day solid of the Beta just trying to get every armour set available.

Today I thought it would be a nice idea to get all of the armour sets on all 3 classes and put them in one image, to showcase the Guardians.

Find the image here: http://imgur.com/gallery/8Gpcq

I really like being able to see all of the different armours and classes together so thought I'd share it with you!

Hope you like it too,

Danniey

Parallel between the first time you see The Traveler & The City in Destiny 1 & Destiny 2

Posted: 21 Jul 2017 08:18 PM PDT

I'm sure a few people noticed this while they played through the Destiny 2 beta but I haven't seen a post, let alone a video about it so here goes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucYJVLyzvVs&feature=youtu.be

The cutscene of your Guardian returning to The Traveler & The City in Destiny 2 is almost a shot for shot replica of the first time you see them during Destiny 1.

To the people who think SMG's are "too jumpy", I present the Phosphorous MG4.

Posted: 22 Jul 2017 04:43 AM PDT

With 'Steady Rounds' in the 2nd column its the most stable SMG we have and I constantly mow people down since SMG's seem to have the best TTK of all the weapons in the beta. Which scope you pick is optional.

[TowerThought] when the traveller went dark there must've been guardians in the crucible that were killed by another guardian and were never resurrected...

Posted: 21 Jul 2017 06:30 PM PDT

Bungie, I really think Destiny could benefit from a Community Test Environment. Just ask DICE.

Posted: 21 Jul 2017 04:13 PM PDT

Bungie, it's a pretty common belief that the changes made in Destiny 1 were, for the most part, what led to player population dropping and the general feeling that you may "over compensate" when issues in PvP or PvE arise. Examples:

  1. Vex Mythoclast was too powerfulin PvP. You nerfed Vex specifically, and all other fusion rifles, making them useless in PvE.

  2. Suros Regime was OP in PvP. You toned down the Suros , and all other auto rifles until only high-ROF auto rifles were used.

  3. Shotguns were OP in PvP. You removed the Shot Package perk from all shotguns.

  4. Blink jump was OP in PvP. You killed that for PvP & PvE. When is the last time you even saw a Blink jump?

  5. Snipers were OP in PvP. You nerfed snipers so badly, they are hardly used outside 2-3 versions.

  6. Special weapons were OP in PvP. You changed the entire special ammo economy in PvP so that it's a sidearm game now.

These changes were over reaching, and damaging to the overall experience for both PvP players and PvE players. However, had you included the community in these decisions and testing, it could very well have been different. Here's the proof:

Battlefield 4

For those who don't know, Battlefield 3 was a huge success. It was incredibly popular, balanced, and had some long legs. Keeping its player base at 10,000ish, as of today. Enter Battlefield 4. All of the community was expecting a fantastic game. What we got was a buggy, unbalanced mess. Server issues, latency, unbalanced weapons, levels that were poorly designed and one sided, game modes that were just not completely thought out.

The community lost their collective minds and threw a ton of heat at DICE. Their solution was the Community Test Environment. It was an easy to sign up for, continual "beta testing" of all the changes that DICE was planning on rolling out with thousands of community play testers. They would propose a change, roll it out to the community, and then get raked over the coals on how terrible the idea was, then they'd go back and work it out again.

Because of the CTE, Battlefield 4 is now one of the best shooters available this generation. I still play it weekly, as do many others, even 4 years later.

DICE understood something that Bungie hasn't seemed to grasp yet. That testing out fundamental changes in the echo-chamber of your development team won't always yield the best outcome. Expanding your pool of influence and feedback is always beneficial. Just ask Dice...

EDIT: yes, I realize overwatch has test servers. Thank you for everyone who felt the need to remind me. LOL. I mentioned battlefield because it's a game that was a complete mess at launch, and the developers kept making poor decisions to fix it. The CTE allowed them to make progress.
