bounty hunter questions, talents mostly.

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 05:46 PM PDT

I know the reasoning behind when to take most of kittys talents except the level 20 ones, in 7.02 spell amp was changed to 75+ q damage, is this actually better than the 120+ right click damage? It seems like it might be good for if you go aghs or something and try to avoid autoattacking that much and Good for getting the finishing kill on escaping people when you wouldn't otherwise?

Thoughts?

Also!

Any glaring things you shouldnt do that these two guides are suggesting?

considering trying a dagon bh just for fun in unranked.

Lategame decision making

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 02:39 PM PDT

Hello there,

I just finished a game as PA where we lost a lane of racks early in the game, effectively locking us up in the base. The enemy team had a very strong pickoff lineup: Slark, WR, Riki, Timber. We managed to stabilize however and win a few teamfights.

In my opinion we had a very good chance at winning the game. The problem however was that all our lanes were pushed in all the time, so after every teamfight there was very little I felt we could do. I probably threw the game by suggesting to try to throne the game. I however had to idea what else to do. Perhaps one of you guys with more experience can shed some light on how to handle this situation?

Game: Dotabuff/Opendota

Thanks in advance!

Anything I can do as a support when my carry keeps dying for stupid reasons? (2.5-3k)

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 05:03 PM PDT

Alright. So I love playing support. I love saving people and helping my carries succeed. Molding them into the beast they are. See this picture

As an example. What do I do when I tell my carry to backup because they are all missing? Then he just dies in lane. Across river. When 2/3 of our lanes are pushed into our towers.

Is there anything I can do other than ward the map? Even then wards don't completely change it because people don't look at the map a lot in 2-3k. Myself included of course.

No wolf Lycan. Viable or not?

How viable is no wolf lycan and if so how do you do this. Skill build and item build. Guides would be helpful. Thanks?

Last Hitting Under Extreme Harassment

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 01:27 PM PDT

How exactly do you last hit as a melee carry against a trilaning offlane? In my bracket, it's rare to get rotations from other players so I end up staying at exp range but not being able to get last hits. For example, if the enemy offlane is a combination of Sniper, WD, and Veno and I'm a lowly AM.

Can you bind Shift + [KEY] to control groups

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 04:55 PM PDT

When I play Meepo I want to have settings for selecting each Meepo, but also be able to select all Meepos and Meepo 2+3, and Meepo 3+4. I don't want to just run down the number keys as that would require moving my hand too far, and I don't want to bind to alt + 1, 2 etc. because that moves my thumb into an uncomfortable position.

What I am wondering is there a way I can bind these using Ctrl as a modifier instead. Or is there any other way I have not thought of to effectively manage these control groups.

Dealing with enigma

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 08:10 PM PDT

Let's assume that you are playing with a draft that deals with enigma quite poorly (aka no venge or any hero that can can cancel black hole through bkb). How do you deal with bkb refresher enigma? Especially in the late game, if enigma only catches 1 or 2 important heroes in at least one of their black holes, they can easily win the game. Additionally, the aoe of the black hole has a tremendously large impact on the enemy team's positioning.

What kinds of strategies or tactics should be used to deal with enigma other than outright counterpicking? What kinds of heroes should we also look out for that are good for teaming up with enigma? Any particular items that may also be much more useful than it seems?

How to make the announcer louder?

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 03:21 PM PDT

I am trying to adjust my sound settings to make the announcer (killing spree, double kill!) sound louder, but I don't know how. Which sound setting deals with that voice?

Also how do you change the announcer voice? I saw on YouTube there's some different voice options.

Thanks in advance.

Armlet and Drums on DK

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 10:19 AM PDT

I have seen in a lot of Chinese pubs that DK would build Drums and skip Armlet completely. Isn't Armlet the most cost efficient item? Would Drums+Armlet delay the items too much?

What are some things people should probably know, but most don't?

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 12:38 PM PDT

For example, I've been playing for around 3 years and I just found out how effective HP works, and how armor gain works. I found out that some spells can actually be cast while teleporting without canceling this. What are some other things like this that you wouldn't know just by playing the game?

How do you play against Sven in 2k

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 01:18 AM PDT

Since 7.06 I've won like 1 game out of 20 games played against this asshole. How do you counter him? He's incredibly tanky with his ult, has a shitton of armor, and always goes for a BKB. How do you deal with him?

How many of you have stopped playing Dota, only watching the tournaments?

Posted: 03 Jun 2017 09:25 PM PDT

I've been playing for a couple years. The past few months, it's been a very schizophrenic experience. I'll uninstall out of rage, install again in a week, have some fun for a few games, then uninstall. It's not necessarily that I blame my team for losses, rather I REALLY can't stand the BM. One example, I was Void and whiffed my Chrono. Enemy Mirana types "wp", so I promptly respond, "you know I could easily do the same shit for every arrow you've missed, but I didn't." I can't stand the trash talking, whether it's from my team or the other team.

But the game is still exciting to me at a basic level. I love watching pro games. So I'm wondering how many on this sub haven't played in a while and still enjoy watching the games. Do you feel lost on changes from patch to patch? Do you read the patch notes for the sole purpose of knowing what to expect in tournaments? And if you're like me who really hates PLAYING Dota, how do you resist the temptation of installing the game, hoping for better matches that won't come?

[Repost] I can't get out of 1k mmr

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 01:25 PM PDT

Reposted from here: https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/6f3zx8/can_someone_explain_to_me_what_i_am_doing_wrong/

almost 4.6k hours in the game, 2.9k games, and I still can't pass 1.5k mmr.

4.5k hours in dota 2, 4 years of extensive guides, researchs, redditing for multiple years, watching tons of pro games, getting coached by a 6.1k mid who has rekt bulldog before and won against multiple 7k 5 stacks while in a 3 man stack, who is currently on the top 20 in the leaderboards of seasonal mmr.

I will admit I am not of old age, I am only 13 (started playing at about 9-10), but I honestly don't think that's the main reason. I've seen people my age at 4k. I can't really find out what I am doing wrong.

I main support, but I can destroy all other lanes easily, so If I play mid, I don't let the enemy mid last hit and kill him multiple times in lane. If I am playing offlane, I can manage to kill the enemy safelaners multiple times.

I have no issues winning the lanes, and in the laning phase, it seems like I am truly above my mmr.

But once after that laning phase, suddenly I start to fade away, start playing really badly, and feel like I can't win. I defintly don't belong to any higher mmr, considering I have been on really bad loss streaks, and I am struggling on farming efficency and other stuff. When I support, I roam and get kills early game, but later again I start playing really badly, and then we lose the game (even if I don't play badly)..

I have no major issues in battlecup or 5 man games though, even in tier 4/5. It's much easier, and feels more relaxing:P!.

Some stuff to note: in my attempt to climb(all over the past year), I have an average of 10 commends and <3 reports in each summary, and my behaviour score has risen to 8.5k from 2.5k, I started to use voice chat more frequently, so I am pretty sure my behaviour has little to do with it."

I recieved responses but they weren't really tips, or more indepth. for example, how can I increase my farme fficency? I already know my last hit levels are terrible and my farming is bad, my decisions are not very good, but how do I improve them? what are more thinking routes I should take? how can I farm if my hero isn't good at taking camps, or if my hero has no wave clearing or mobility? responses such as "focus on the map" are useless, what tips should I do to be able to "focus on the map" or farm efficently?

Thanks in advance :P!

Up to how many reports can you hold at once?

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 01:18 PM PDT

Also, how do reports get replenished?

The most I've had so far is just 3 reports. I usually only report the intentional feeders; you know, the ones that run down mid because they couldn't play mid or something. There are others who are deserving of being reported as well, but I don't know how reports get replenished so I'm quite hesitant to report unless the person is someone who intentionally throws.

P.S. I'm sorry if this isn't the kind of topic that should be here. I don't really know where else to ask.

What am I doing wrong?

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 08:26 AM PDT

over the last month I have played over 55 matches and I have a mere 37% winrate, I use to have an overall win rate of 51% and I use to play in high/very high matchmaking. What am I doing so horribly wrong compared to how I played a year or 2 ago?

(3k scrub) Had a long term break, I want to start climbing and need some guides

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 11:28 AM PDT

My peak mmr was 3.8k then I fell to 2.8k about a year ago, since then I took a break from dota and I want to start climbing again. I calibrated at 3k INT ranked then went up to 3.2k and fell again to 3k. I play mid and usually I win my lane although my last hits aren't good, I get something like 40-60cs in 10min and few kills but while I am ahead my team will either itemize really bad or keep feeding. I know I'm part of the problem too so I want to improve, where can I find a good comprehensive guide for mid laners? I don't have time to watch streams though.

Usage of Stick

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 05:22 AM PDT

I thought stick is mainly for a burst of heal. However, I have seen pro's using it in lane with like 2 charges. I just find this a little weird that's all.

What state is alchemist in after the jungle changes and gold gain nerfs?

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 10:47 AM PDT

Alch was a bit strong, I get that he got nerfed in 7.05 and changed in 7.06

I've noticed they made his unstable weaker early but the AOE is bigger so now it might actually hit multiple enemies like sven Q. They also changed the gold gain per stack so it's 8 gold lower at max rank.

However, there's now twice as much jungle to farm. And Alch is a pretty efficient farmer once you get some items going.

I was wondering if Alchemist is in a good spot right now?

What could I have done differently this game against Medusa Mid?

Posted: 04 Jun 2017 08:48 AM PDT

https://www.opendota.com/matches/3224443336

I was mid BloodSeeker against Mesusa. Thanks to damage given by enemies low health I was able to get 61 LH in 10 mins against 45 foe Medusa Mid. In the next 5 minutes, I focus on Ganks, Enemies instead of Last hits. We dominate early game but lost as the game progressed. Was it because we didn't push enough to finish the game as early as possible ? Or was it my build that was wrong ?
