Posted: 30 Apr 2017 12:03 PM PDT I've been watching alot of the Kiev Major and I've noticed Warlock is picked as a support in alot of the games. I'm only 1.8k mmr and don't really know much about the hero, what makes him so good that the pros always use him? Thanks :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Apr 2017 06:19 PM PDT I just feel that every support is outclassed by her. She does everything very well. Spammable spells, nice hp regen because of the boots, good disable and devastating aoe ultimate. [link] [comments]
| Posted: 30 Apr 2017 10:16 AM PDT I am a sub-1k player (dont flame ples), and have noticed that in ranked I play very poorly. I think the reason is that I decide to counter-pick too much, even if I have no experience with the hero. (For example I picked an Abbadon safelane when the enemy team picked axe, lc. But we still got stomped, and it was the first or second time I had ever played the hero.) In pubs however (which keep in mind this is 1k we're talking about so people will pick the same lineups in ranked and in pubs.) i just pick heroes I am good at like Alch, Sf, AM, storm. Even when the enemy lineup is literally the opposite of what i want to pick into, it's a pub so i don't really care too much, and I end up winning pretty hard. Where I currently am, should I just stick to the heroes I'm good at, or keep counter-picking? If i get to higher levels of play, of course I'm going to counterpick more, but by then, I'll have teammates who try and pick well too, plus supports and stuff that don't just autoattack wave. | Posted: 30 Apr 2017 06:46 PM PDT Hi, I'm almost completely new to this game. I played Heroes of the storm playing Chen, Valeera and Abathur. Could anyone give beginner advice on how to play the game. So far I've been having troubles farming(I always end up the lowest level in the game) and finding kills/contributing to the game at all. Also I need character recommendations to play because I don't know any good characters to pick up [link] [comments] |
New at 1k. Can someone point me where to improve in general? Posted: 30 Apr 2017 02:15 PM PDT I'm used to play Abby and Necrophos (as sup and carry) to grind my way up from 300 mmr. Can someone point me how to improve more? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Apr 2017 05:30 PM PDT I have 3.5k hours in dota, I'm pretty bad, but sometimes do well and enjoy playing very much. I used to play constantly, many many games every day and loved it, but now I'm only playing 1-2 games per day if that... Honestly I think it's the grinding/farming aspect and long game times that are getting to me. I play carry mostly and the farming grindfest has just become a drag, especially losing after a hard effort. Doesn't help that my mmr has stagnated badly and I can't climb. The community at my mmr is so toxic I have muted all chat now so I don't get tilted. Should I take a break, keep playing and find the joy again someday, or possibly time to quit? [link] [comments]
| any tips on abbadon skill usage Posted: 30 Apr 2017 03:59 PM PDT Recently, i just knew that you can use abbadon's ulti while being cyclone. is there any more interactions i should know of when playing this hero? should i prioritize spamming first skill instead of shield because of the instant cast animation? for example, i got a teammate who has quarter of health bar and an enemy lina trying to ult him, which skill should i use ideally to save him in this scenario? | Good heroes to deal with splitpush ? Posted: 30 Apr 2017 02:28 PM PDT what are some good heroes to punish splitpushers ? the only thing that comes to mind for me is lc or axe hidden behind the tower or tp behind shrine and then initiate with blink, are there any other heroes who do this better then them ? | Pros taking defensive talents on carrys? Posted: 30 Apr 2017 09:49 AM PDT during this major i noticed most pro carrys are picking the defensive talents at 10 for the carrys(regen for TB,armor for alch, etc) that kind surprised me becasue i thought the +dmg or attkspeed are always better because u farm faster and thats what ur trying to do mainly at that time. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Thoughts on Dealing with Terrorblade Reflection Ability as Antimage? Posted: 30 Apr 2017 03:54 AM PDT Terrorblade can counter Antimage by pressing Q, which creates an invulnerable, free-pathing Antimage illusion that burns your mana and does a ton of damage. How have you guys dealt with this as Antimage? Usually you will lose like 60% of your HP and most of your mana. I've tried dealing with this issue in a couple ways. First one is to just not show up to team fights and split push. Another one is buying Butterfly and taking the evasion talent so my illusion will miss, but it will attack a lot faster. BKB is an option too, but it does not offer too much dmg or raw HP. Lastly, I've just been buying Silver Edge on Antimage. Every time he uses Reflection I just go invisible. Not a bad item at all, actually. Makes you harder to kill and you can split push more effectively. Another option could be Ethereal Blade, but that's more of a troll build. I'd like to know if you've got other ideas. Generally TB is super annoying to deal with as AM. edit: I've considered not skilling Mana Break, but the reduction of farm speed does not make it worth it at all. [link] [comments]
Why is Urn such a popular item on Spec? Posted: 30 Apr 2017 03:51 AM PDT See it a lot in high ranked games, esp this major Not really sure how it fits with Spec, would like some insight [link] [comments]
Meta and laning questions from bad(new?) player Posted: 30 Apr 2017 07:05 AM PDT I can't really call myself new since I sometimes play a few games of Dota every few months or so. I am in really low rating and fine with that, it's nice to be able to play whatever. I am at a point where I'd like to commit to a moba and I am pretty lost when it comes to this game. I played LoL for years and quit again, every time I try to get into it I just can't. I play HotS but it gets really stale. My history with those 2 games is Gold rank multiple seasons, but Dota2 is just beyond me for some reason lol I did watch the new to Dota2 link as well as read the LoL-Dota2 information, but I am not "new" to mobas and the LoL one was dated and he left me confused about some things. Can someone perhaps with LoL/HotS experience explain the idea behind laning and meta? Often times when I queue everyone picks a hero and I have no idea who goes where or where I should go. Is there an optimal lane setup? So far games seem to be 2-1-2 or 1-1-1-2. In the most basic terms, what are the goals or flow of the game? Are most characters viable or is there a point where only certain fotm picks become the go to? I used to love support but I get really bored of it after all the years in LoL. Is Dota2 support the same idea? Babysit someone and follow them around warding? Do supports ever really get items or much else? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Apr 2017 03:13 AM PDT I cannot for the life of me hit the Psiblades with TA. I don't know the positioning for it, and there are no guides that tell you. Anyone have some advice on reliably hitting Psi blades? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Apr 2017 08:53 AM PDT Pretty much the title. I've never actually gone skadi on am in a serious game(ie ranked), but I feel as though it might be worth getting skadi over basher/abyssal in certain cases, ie your team has enough lockdown. I understand the lockdown potential of abyssal, but i feel like a skadi would provide more consistant way of sticking to your target and provides better stats overall. But the permastun potential of abyssal is just so good. Any am-spammers have any thoughts on this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Apr 2017 06:52 AM PDT I tried to play pos4 MK and i have a lot of problems with it....i literally don't know when and how to scout effectively...i just ended up jumping around trees for no reason at all....i need some advices...thanks [link] [comments]
TA match itemization, gameplay Posted: 30 Apr 2017 05:36 AM PDT https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3148714160 Iwas getting flamed by a teammate for getting manta and not bkb. I had troubles in the midgame not getting caught by treant ult and naga ensnare. My item timings are very bad and we didnt play well. And didnt push to our advantage in the midgame. Anyway he was also saying read the patch notes. Did I miss anything? In my opinion, manta was extremly situational. The timing was bad but it really helped me sometime. As treant ult and enigma piercing bkb I didnt find it necessary. It was tough against the invo magic dmg. So would you build bkb rather manta? Any other suggestions? [link] [comments]
When and why do Oracle fall out of favor? Posted: 29 Apr 2017 09:55 PM PDT During my internship, I was very busy and didn't watch any of Dota tournament, sometimes only play few games. Just yesterday I saw Oracle was only picked 11 times in Kiev Major. I thought Oracle was one of the top picks, what made him out of meta? I saw a post weeks or months ago (cant remember) that discussed about Lion out of meta. Thought Oracle out of meta might be a good discussion. Link: https://www.dotabuff.com/esports/leagues/5157/heroes Sorry for my poor English as I am not native and also thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Apr 2017 03:31 AM PDT I've been trying out Xin and like the Magic damage build for early/mid game skirmishes. However most of the time, it felt lackluster in the late game; where Teams start getting BKBs and Pipes and shut me down fast. I'm thinking of going Bottle-->Veil-->BoTs-->BF-->Daedalus-->Lotus Orb/Skadi/MKB/Etc. Getting the Spell Amp, Stats, Armor, and CDR Talents. Set up kills early on and transition into a core afterwards. What do you guys think? [link] [comments]
Requirements for a successful neutral creep stacking Posted: 29 Apr 2017 11:39 PM PDT After the 7.00 patch, I often fail on stacking neutral creeps. I know they changed the timings and I followed the guide here but still, it's a hit or miss for me. Are there any other requirements for a successful creep stack? I know stack fails if there is a ward or a hero is inside the yellow box by time x:00. When I stack I make sure that all neutral creeps should be outside the yellow box by time x:00. But sometimes, this still fails. Should the whole yellow box area be covered in fog for it to be successful? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Apr 2017 10:27 AM PDT Any link me readable outside game good guides on mk, tiny, lina, luna ,mirana,pa and ck. Thanks. [link] [comments]
| Posted: 30 Apr 2017 01:36 AM PDT So the most common item pick up for midlaners after your initial purchase is normally bottle into boots. But watching Kiev Major and other high mmr pubs, sometimes midlaners go for boots first, get a second null talisman or complete their ring of aquila, sometimes even foregoing a bottle. Wand is probably the most obvious choice when you are up against a spammy hero like zeus, bristleback and bat but what constitutes getting the other items over the conventional bottle boots? | How would you describe the game plan of a support? Posted: 29 Apr 2017 08:28 PM PDT Hello, I'm a support player (mostly pos 5) and I want to go back to Dota after a break. I'm unsure about the current meta, so how would you describe your priorities and general game plan as a support? It's perfectly fine if you keep it short, and I would really appreciate some general pointers on what to do. I know I can watch tournament matches for this, but I wouldn't really understand most of their reasoning. For reference, I'm ~3.2k and I stopped playing around the release of 7.0. Thanks! | How do you break into the pro scene? Posted: 29 Apr 2017 10:54 PM PDT It's just something I've been thinking about lately. Is it possible to break into the pro scene? For example, take the Tier 8 Battle Cup champs 4 Protect 5. If your team are tier 8 Battle Cup champions, you are clearly an incredibly skilled team. But as soon as they played Secret in the Kiev Major, they got absolutely destroyed. The score was 24-4 or something like that. What gives professional teams such an edge over newer teams and how do you improve to that degree? [link] [comments] |
