In this weekly thread you can discuss the Tank roles of Overwatch to your heart's delight. What are the characteristics of those heroes?

Tanks specialize in protecting allies, disrupting enemies, and occupying the front line. They have high survivability and abilities that protect themselves and others with shields and crowd control.

Overwatch Wikia

You can find a list of the current tanky heroes on the Overwatch Hero Overview.

Share guides and strategies that are valuable to a tanky Overwatch Hero or other tips and tricks that helped you to get better. You can also propose ideas why a certain hero is bad in your eyes and how to make it better. Please do so in a constructive way!

Hello community,

We have an important update regarding the tournament:

We decided to cancel this weekend's qualification rounds and extend the signup for one more week to get 16 teams each region.

This is because we did not meet similar numbers as we did in the last tournament.

Aside from this change, everything else will be the same. The full bracket will be played as scheduled in each region.

We apologize for this situation and look forward to a fun and competitive tournament weekend.

If you have any questions, please comment or join our tournament discord: https://discord.gg/6XAmWEU

Blizzard, it's time to put Reaper in the patch notes, please.

Posted: 22 Apr 2017 01:34 PM PDT

So back in Seasons 1 and 2, I mained Reaper. He's one of my favorite heroes and I used to have a lot of fun playing him (especially during the Beyblade era).

Now I feel like Reaper is one of the most consistent heroes of the game. He has not been buffed or nerfed in at least 3 seasons, if ever. This says a lot about his build and his kit. There isn't really anything "wrong" with Reaper that warrants a change.

However, with the introduction of new heroes that can flank faster and quieter like Sombra, and damage buffs to existing heroes over time, it just feels like the meta and the game has evolved passed Reaper's kit.

This post is basically a brainstorm or discussion as to what changes Reaper needs to be a viable hero once again.

I'm suggesting somewhat of a rework for Reaper as opposed to a minor change. Here are my ideas:

  1. Aggressive Wraith

Reaper can absorb amounts of health from enemies while in Wraith form. Giving Reaper the ability to regain health by absorbing enemy health during wraith discourages enemies from following a weakened Reaper in wraith form.

Heroes such as Soldier and Mei can either run away and self heal or be invincible while self healing. A character like Reaper who is designed to be a flanker, has to quick exit/heal mechanism especially if he's away from the team. This ability would allow Reaper a chance to fight someone hellbent on chasing him while he's weak, or be able to get away without someone wanting to chase him for the fear of losing health and being vulnerable to Reaper once wraith ends.

This ability would also serve as an alternative form of damage for Reaper since his primary is close range and often times characters deal with Reaper from a distance.

  1. Quiet, Faster Teleport, Faster Cooldown

Reaper's teleport is extremely loud and gives away his location easily. He can also be damaged while teleporting and be killed even before the teleport animation is completed by someone who notices it. His teleport also has a 10 second cooldown, for an ability that needs (not a lot) some aim to get you in perfect positioning. Many times this ability feels like a chore in his kit if he's in battle because he is a target while aiming and a target while completing this ability. A faster, quieter teleport with a quicker cooldown allows Reaper to be more stealthy and effective in mobility.

  1. Wraith form speed boost

A speed boost to wraith form is also an alternative for him to be more mobile or to get away from danger.

Edit 4: Alternative fire/Damage buff The ability to shoot both shotguns at the same time for a high damage. I don't believe Reaper should have a distance fire because that idea seems to go against the design of Reaper. However, other burst shotgun characters like Torb and Roadhog have alternative distance fire and Roadhog is just a stronger, fatter Reaper. An alternative fire that allows him to shoot both guns at the same time and have a cooldown on it would help Reaper secure vital kills.

Edit 5: Remove passive soul orbs (add it to the aggressive wraith) // New Passive: Toxicity

Making Reaper's body fumes toxic to enemies so that they lose health (like Widow's venom mine) while being around him would make him more intimidating to approach or chase.

What are some of your ideas?
