[Tool] Life Skill Calculator v1.0 - Finally out of beta!

Posted: 12 Aug 2018 05:53 PM PDT

LSC is finally out of beta! The vast majority of bugs have been fixed, and all of the essential features are in! This will also most likely be the last major release of LSC. For more information about the future of this project, please read: https://github.com/Hesterry/LSC/wiki/The-Future-of-LSC

So, what is LSC?

In short, it's a standalone, no-internet-required, application for Windows desktop. As for what it actually does... allow me to reference the LSC Wiki page:

In simple terms, LSC is what the name describes: a life skill calculator. More precisely, it's a highly sophisticated tool for calculating the profit of various crafts, helping players find things that are worth crafting for minimal effort. If you're tired of constantly having to look up recipes, calculate costs and profits, and accounting for every little detail, all just to figure out if a single item is worth making, then LSC is for you.

One key feature of LSC that makes it truly special, is that it comes with a set of easily configurable databases, complete with item recipes and market values. Using this information, LSC can calculate the profit of hundreds of items in an instant. What takes even a veteran life skiller hours to research and calculate, can be achieved in mere minutes.

Unfortunately, just telling you all this doesn't help much, and severely underplays how powerful the tool is – it's definitely something that needs to be used to be understood. So, give it a whirl, or at least take a look at the user guide to see some screenshots, and get a better idea of LSC's functionality. :)

LSC User Guide (with screenshots): https://github.com/Hesterry/LSC/blob/master/LSC_User_Guide.pdf

(You might have to reload the PDF a couple of times to get it to load properly, if you don't want to download it. GitHub is a bit wonky...)

If you're concerned about downloading a mysterious zip file, here's a VirusTotal report. I've also set up a Discord server for help, suggestions, and bug reporting - or if you just want to chat with other LSC users: https://discord.gg/V5vWSsu

Also, to be perfectly clear: LSC is not a hack, cheat, or anything of the like. It does not interact with the BDO client in any way. The likelyhood of it getting you banned is the same as if you were using a wiki. In code terms, the only external functionality it has is reading/writing the database files and some user settings files, launching URLs, and opening a Windows explorer window/process (specifically to where LSC's databases are stored) – that's it.

Last but certainly not least, a special thanks to my early testers, Eddit and Ryalin of Espers. You two made an incredible difference in the overall quality and development speed of LSC. And a big thanks to those of you who picked up LSC early, joined the Discord, and gave me your much needed feedback. Thank you, everyone! :)

Endless Dungeon? PLEASE >.< BDO

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 08:50 AM PDT

I REALLY would love Endless Dungeon that just keeps GOING.....with random spawned Bosses, Like the way we got all the scrolls and memory fragments.... instead... we make keys that lets us into the dungeon and we can keep going as long as we want until we die, or maybe even make it that if you die you drop everything you gotten at the dungeon unless you get into safe area and leave.... sort of like do you continue and risk for higher chance at rewards.... or risk losing it all... and have both single and party versions of it.

State of warrior

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 04:59 AM PDT

Hi all,

I wanted to make this post to express my feelings and thoughts about the current state of warrior in BDO at this moment. This could be considered as a rant or a complaint but I ensure you it's not as I do still enjoy playing warrior the way it is right now. I never make posts like these so please feel free te give me some feedback.

PVE: Since the PVE buff warrior got I feel warrior has a better time grinding than they ever have. I like the reduced cooldowns on gravedigger and slashing the dead and therefore I don't really have complains PVE wise.

PVP: On the other hand, I feel like the class is lacking PVP wise, we have a lot of unprotected skills and I don't see how we can be that bulky frontline class anymore that we ought to be. The recent BSR changes helped a bit in large scale PVP that is if you can dodge enough CC to pull it off. I do feel like we still are in the lower tiers if we are talking about large scale PVP. 1V1 I can still stand my ground, but even there I feel like our grab is literally the only thing that decides the fight.

The other reason I'm making this post is to see how other warriors feel and to draw a bit of attention to this as I feel we are getting a bit neglected in the last few patches. I would love to get some feedback from all of you.

tl;dr: Warrior is being neglected, still love the class tho. Your thoughts?

(Note: English is not my mother tongue)

For you people complaining about Sea monster hunting

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 06:42 AM PDT

So the amount of posts i've seen in regards to sea monster hunting and people being like "OMGZ SO BROKEN", yeah it's high money compared to other methods such as grinding. This doesn't make it broken, it just means grinding areas need buffing. (Read on before flaming, you might understand the logic behind it). Also i'm not saying SMH doesn't need changing, but not as drastic as everyone is making out.

The biggest issue in the game right now is the lack of items on the marketplace/stupid preorder prices. Nerfing sea monster hunting won't really solve any of this, other than people putting in high preorders. If grinding spots were made more viable then:

  1. Preorder prices would drop instead of inflating because items will have higher availability (don't forget that loads of people have billions stashed up since release anyway, preorders have always been a thing)
  2. More people would grind these areas, may even pull some people away from sea monster hunting

The only reason this has become a huge issue in EU/NA compared to Korea is because we have no money sinks. As much as people don't like the idea of the shakatu boxes (the 50mil RNG boxes), they actually benefit the community drastically, hence why Korea aren't complaining about sea monster hunting. the reason why the Shakatu boxes benefit us are:

  1. It provides a big money sink. I mean cmon, who doesn't like RNG boxes xD
  2. Provides memory frags, hards, sharps and the much needed accessories that we barely ever see on the marketplace.
  3. Brings down preorder prices on a lot of things as less money will be in the economy and provides resources for everyone.

Yeah sea monster hunting is good money, but the fact that Korea aren't complaining means we are missing something they have. Instead of people wanting to get sea monster hunting nerfed, complain about the crappy grind spots, the lack of content (shakatu boxes being one of them for a money sink).

EDIT: Also Korea has the new underwater grind spot where they can grind like 80mil/h etc. which is another aspect we are missing
