The last two chests i need to progress are completely bugged, what a let down.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Edit: Apologies, i'm fairly new to this Reddit and the game in general, i didn't see the Bug Post.

Edit: After an additional hour or so, i managed to bug my way through, using a Teleport such as Lightning Flash or Spamming Mounts allows you to shift through the wall at slight areas. Give it a try.

Spvp Community Highlight: Jawgeous - Recommendations on Watching, Casting, and Playing Spvp

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 10:58 AM PDT

Hi all, in preparation for the upcoming Guild Wars 2 tournaments listed below, we virtually sat down with Twitch streamer and YouTuber, Jawgeous to talk about casting, recommendations on how to get involved in the community, and how to improve your gameplay.

You can see my last post on the potential NA tournament teams here: https://redd.it/8a35en. We're hoping to revisit these teams in the coming days, since some of the information has changed since the post was created.

Tournament listings:

1) I'm sure people who have caught your stream have seen one of your automated tournament casts. Why did you decide to start casting these daily tournaments?

  • Jawgeous: The reason I started casting them was well, basically because I was granted the ability to do so by ArenaNet. These things are granted in waves so to speak, and new Partners hadn't been given access yet. I received mine, and it just felt natural to do something that nobody else really wanted to. Of course there were people casting the Monthly ATs etc, which was the only way people could see 5v5s in a spectate... I just wanted to make it more regular. I really enjoy PvP, and I just wanted to share that with other people who might learn from it.

2) What would you recommend someone just getting into the EU pvp scene do to involve themself in the community?

  • Jawgeous: I think it's actually important that new players approach streamers within the GW2 PvP community and ask either their communities for class recommendations, or the streamer might be able to offer better insight. Metabattle isn't the best in terms of explaining why particular things are good, and what particular matchups require - Whereas you can witness these first hand within streams (and you sort of learn by watching). This is how I personally grew when I was maining thief. I'd spend a lot of time watching Sindrener, and look at his movements, combos and such. I think it's a really important method of learning.

3) The most common complaint that people have when playing Guild Wars 2 pvp is the visual clutter. What recommendations would you have for a first time player of a Guild Wars 2 tournament?

  • Jawgeous: I always try to isolate one target that I'm aiming to kill, and then passively pay attention to obvious visuals (like necro aoe daze, or their elite, or whatever). I'm so used to duelling players that I have a rough idea what all of the visuals look like, and pretty much sift through them pretty quickly to determine what's happening. It only looks like a mess when you don't know what the obvious visuals are - Most of them are pretty straight forward and pretty memorable. It's a case of education. Sometimes post-processing AOEs do stack on eachother and it takes a little while longer -But if you're underneath a post-processing shitstorm, I highly recommend dodge-rolling out in the first place haha!

4) Spvp has a number of mechanics from player skills, buffs, rotations, and more that happen in a match. What typically goes unnoticed while spectating matches that you'd like casters, including yourself, to focus more on?

  • Jawgeous: The worst part about Casting as an individual is that sometimes you're following a tangent, and whilst following that, your mind is moving 10 steps ahead, staring at the minimap looking for the next thing to discuss. Sometimes I talk about random things, say the wrong skills, jump to the wrong person... It's hard to coordinate. The things that go unnoticed are sometimes super-quick burst +1s for example, where you're busy talking about a teamfight and you don't realise someone has left to disengage and create a 2v1 on a sidenode. That usually happens within ~10 seconds so it's pretty easy to miss. It's just a struggle to manage all of the output.

5) There are key spvp player roles in a match like: Roamer, Duelist, Team Fight, and Team Support. In your opinion, what role is typically lacking from teams playing in automated tournaments?

  • Jawgeous: That's a tough one. I think every composition has the potential of working. Firebrand is something in itself that compliments Scourge necro - By itself, it's actually not taken (atleast in ATs). The ATs that I've witnessed have always paired a Firebrand with a scourge, and if there is no scourge, there is no firebrand. It's almost as if there's no other class output which warrants the use of a firebrand alongside it, and instead would opt for a more self-sustain bruiser output to achieve other things. So I'd have to say supports. If we're talking about solo queue.... Then I'd say there's no particular role missing, because everybody just kinda... clownfiestas?

6) As a caster, if you were given one in-game feature to help you while spectating tournaments what would it be?

  • Jawgeous: If I had one in-game feature it'd probably be to witness the movements of a rotation which I might be missing. E.g, if I'm on a different player, I'd be able to see that someone from the mid-fight was rotating out to somewhere else to create a +1, or something along those lines. It's honestly just the things that I miss that are the most annoying when looking back at the VOD. Alternatively, there's the likes of general UI-specific updates I'd like to see, which involve timers to let the caster know when the game is actually starting (and that way I don't have to spam spectate), etc. Just some QoL updates perhaps.

7) Being very familiar with the Automated Tournament scene in EU, what would you say to newer teams just testing the water?

  • Jawgeous: If you mean in terms of advice, I think it's important to try new things and not get disheartened - Sometimes your comp will work, other times it wont. Try running safe compositions e.g Scourge/Firebrand/Druid/Spellbreaker/Bruiser and contest 3 nodes. Learn to work as a team and not play selfishly. Have fun of course, and just every time you win, question why you won, and if you lost, question the same. It's important to make progress each time you play a sPvP match, whether it's on a personal understanding of your class output, or perhaps a specific matchup. Always take something from a game and strive to be better. Don't get put off.

8) A frequent tip new spvp players get is, 'record and watch yourself play'. What would you have players look out for when revisiting their own gameplay?

  • Jawgeous: I personally have never recommended that to anyone but I can see why it would be a thing. One of the biggest killers is actually conditions. Torment and Confusion are HUGE killers to people who don't actually watch their condition bars. Pay attention to these, because you can kill yourself in a heartbeat. It's important to look at visuals from other classes and anticipate what they're casting - If you know the visual and it's something important to dodge, try to memorize it and retain that information for future matchups. If you got absolutely rekt by someeone, remember what they were playing and perhaps don't take that 1v1 in future until you know more about it. I guess just the basic obvious observations.

9) If you didn't cast Guild Wars 2, what professional board game scene (e.g. Chess, Checkers, and Monopoloy) would you commentate?

  • Jawgeous: This is a ridiculous question. I don't like board games. Chess is simple, Checkers is remedial-chess and Monopoly is fantastic at creating IRL PvP. I guess I'd go with Monopoly.

First of all, a big thank you to Jawgeous for sitting down with us and paying it forward in the pvp scene with his content creation. You can find his daily automated tournament casts here: www.twitch.tv/jawgeous and his rotational spvp videos here: www.youtube.com/jawgeous

In the coming weeks you can expect a deeper dive into one of the NA teams, and words from the organizer(s) of the Mist Challengers League.

If you have any questions or recommendations, please feel free to reach out to me on Reddit or Twitter www.twitter.com/spvpanalyst.

Interested in helping? I'm looking for individuals with knowledge of the EU pvp teams and newer teams in both NA & EU. Please reach out if you are interested.

GW2.Ninja 2.0

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 05:10 AM PDT

Check it out here!

Over a longer period of time I've been working on a new version of GW2 Ninja. It's been rewritten completely from the ground up. A lot of the original GW2 Ninja was badly coded and that made it complicated to maintain.

This new version sports all the tools you already know. But also some cool new behind-the-scenes features that should help give you a better experience overall.

Changes:

  • Cleaned up websites and YouTubers so there are less non-active ones on the list.
  • Added a bunch of collections to Black Lion collections.
  • Black Lion Ticket price now uses the last known ticket price for each collection. This has resulted in a drastic change in value compared to the old site. The old site had a ticket price of 0 for collections that were not currently available.
  • Timer now got a lot more metas and you can sort between All, Core, HoT, PoF related timers.
  • TP Calc has been integrated on the website. It was released but never linked from the old GW2 Ninja, so this might look like a new tool to some.
  • Offline support. If you use the latest Firefox, Chrome or Safari you should now be able to load the website while you're offline if you've visited it before. This means you will have access to tools such as Directory, Chatcodes, Timer and TP Calc. Collections and tickets are not available when offline since they require live data from the Guild Wars 2 API.

All the code has been made public on Github for the interested web developers out there. The new website is built in Polymer 2.

Any issues with the website or suggestions for the directory, then please report it in this thread, on my twitter or on Github.

Hope you will all enjoy :)

Please sell me gathering skins at a discounted price

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 12:58 PM PDT

I'm grateful to ANET for the work put in to implement the new system, and it's definitely an improvement. Glad to support the game, I've purchased many unlimited gathering tools in the past, even multiples of ones (which I regret). Pretty soon I'll have more unlimited tools than characters to use them on, and I can just wait to buy glyphs with gold, which would disincentive me from ever buying the unlimited tools/skin/glyph as a bundle. If ANET released the gathering tool skins for a discounted price (400 gems?) I would not hesitate to collect all the cool looking gathering skins!

Why do YOU game? Survey!

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 06:52 AM PDT

Dear fellow online gamers,

I am writing my psychology master's thesis about the connection between gaming motivations, online genre preferences and their effects on daily life. It would be awesome if as many of you as possible would fill out my questionnaire even if it doesn't contain cute cat videos 😉!

You can participate in the survey if you:  are 18+ years old  speak English fluently  and play multiplayer online games at least once a week.  It will only take you around 10-15 minutes to complete. Feel free to share the link with your friends and spread the word!

Thank you so much and I count on you guys!

Melt the Snowflakes

There's a part of me that wants to buy all the old snowflakes on the TP and convert them over to the new ones so ANET can just refund individual accounts for held stash and delete the old olds and free up mat storage spaces.

Chrono vs Mirage for open world HoT, PoF

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 01:07 PM PDT

I know anything works for the open world but I suck at overall character control. Not an optimal player to pick mesmer I suppose but I like it so far. But I know in HoT and PoF things get very scary. So looking for something that can survive better when I make a mistake or two, and has relatively easy ratation.
Thank you.

CPU question

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 12:51 PM PDT

Hello, I would like to upgrade my CPU so I can run the game smoothly. I have an FM2 socket and I am thinking of getting an AMD Athlon X4 880k. I was wondering if that would improve my FPS in game? Right now I have an AMD A10-5800K with an r9 270 4gb.

Thanks!
