I've played WoW 9+ years. 7.3.5 has breathed new life into this game. I'm having so much fun re-discovering (and actually completing!) old zones. This is one of my favorite spots so far, I never knew it existed until this week.

Please tell me this zone never has to end.. I already miss these guys :(

Suggestion: give players exp bonus for every max-level character

Posted: 25 Jan 2018 07:48 AM PST

I was reading the feedback regarding the recent changes to the Refer-A-Friend program. source

For those not aware, Blizzard basically nerfed the exp bonuses from this program, and also made it not stack with heirloom exp bonuses, thus making it significantly less lucrative for players who would use it to level alts.

Blizzard's response to this was basically that if you want your friend to jump into max level content, then use the boost they provide for free with every new copy of the game. Use RAF for when you actually want to experience leveling content with a friend. source

So since Blizzard doesn't want us altoholics to use RAF anymore, how about some more ways to speed up the process for people who want to level alts? Here are some ideas I had off the top off my head:

  • 10% increase in exp gains for all non-max level characters for every max-level character you have.
  • More readily available exp potions, similar to Elixir of the Rapid Mind but not as a rare drop off obscure mobs/missions
  • Longer lasting / more potent rested exp bonus
  • Bonus exp in zones where you haven't earned the Loremaster achievement

What do you guys think? Any ideas you'd like to see Blizzard implement to make leveling alts easier?

Double the exp gain from Heirlooms and everybody wins.

Posted: 25 Jan 2018 01:50 AM PST

Simply put, if we increase the exp gain from Heirlooms to 100% everybody ends up getting what they want. The levling will still provide challenge, the heirlooms are optional so if you want you don't have to use them. The people who feel like the levling is too slow now can enjoy a faster pace. Feels like the easiest fix for this in my opinion.

Edit: Now that this post has garnered as much attention as it currently has, I feel it's fair that I expand on this post and my reasoning behind it. I'll talk about it in parts since this will be a pretty lengthy edit.

  1. The scaling of the mobs.

I thought this change was great since I feel that difficulty has absolutely been lacking in the leveling experience. It's refreshing to feel like you have to put some effort into it, especially when doing harder content such as dungeons. Now that they take longer dungeon-spamming isn't really an option without a good group that's willing to put in the amount of time needed. It was great to go and do elite mob quests and finding myself struggling and having to use either potions or even general chat to ask for help, so the difficulty of the actual combat itself is not the point of this post. The scaling here is very well done, although a bit brutal in certain places (Like the docks south of ratchet). The problem is the scaling with the actual exp and the amount you gain from quests which will be my next point.

  1. Scaling of the exp.

This is where the problem is for me, I have 4 characters in max level and used the boost that came with legion for one of them. (I didn't play WoD) I found the pace in the early levels to be very fast, and I was happy the scaling was there since now I could enjoy zones like Silverpine Forest and Stonetalon Mountain which were great. The story arc was good and it felt immersive to level which I don't think anyone has felt in a while. Then I hit level 30, and I noticed how the exp per quest started scaling less and less, almost none existant up to 60. Certain quests gave more than others but the feeling of pace started dropping off and levling started to feel sluggish. Now I've played SWTOR for years and a lot of ESO so questing is something I enjoy, especially story-driven MMORPG with an abundance of lore and great arcs. But this game is not that, except for a few examples the questing in most areas are excruciating where the tasks vary from kill 10 of these to gather 15 of these, over and over. (Im looking at you Northrend) That's why heirloom gear exists in the first place, so people like me who do not enjoy a large amount of the questing in this game can go through it faster. To encourage levling alts and not make it feel punishing. And for a game that offers services to boost characters this is extra important, because if they aren't careful it will feel like bullying the playerbase into buying these services for real money. The very problem with this whole patch doesn't lie in the fact that mobs take longer to kill, nobody complains about that. It doesn't lie in the fact that dungeons take longer or that you have to do quests. The problem is how many you have to do since you've already done the content multiple times, and since legion has SO much content for fresh 110 most players just focus on what to do when you actually hit 110. So most of the counter arguments here are mainly just "Stop whining" or "levling is part of the game again", which aren't even arguments. It's just as bad as the whining that they are accusing people of doing. The more productive side of this whole argument seems to be the side that agrees the levling curve isn't balanced and needs to give more exp for the actual content you perform.

3.Heirlooms

A lot of people seem to think that heirlooms would be better if they weren't even gear-based and instead just a buff from a toy or a single item like a ring or tabard. This should show you that most people see heirlooms as a necessity because they dont enjoy that part of the game. Nobody complains about challenge or more health on mobs, it's how time consuming something that only grants you levels, which is needed for the actual end-game, has become. Therefore my solution is to either boost the exp on the heirlooms or boost the exp for quest from 40+. But since a lot of people here apperently love the "classic" levling, which isn't even the real classic and just a Cata-remake, it's only fair to make it optional since it's your opinion that everybody who doesn't want to spend up to 50-60 hours doing something they don't enjoy are "pussies" and "whiners"

Sorry for the long edit and if there are some grammar flaws or spelling errors, english is not my native tongue. But I hope my point comes across and that we can continue having great civil discussions since we all care about this game! Thanks for reading <3

Sneak edit: I forgot about mentioning RAF but i've never used it, don't care about it. This post isn't about RAF so there is no need to mention it here.

TIL sharing raid lockouts for older raids is considered an exploit!

Posted: 25 Jan 2018 11:55 AM PST

Accoring to a GM it is against the rules to share lockouts between you characters to skip bosses in old raids.

Have been doing this for years but today i was contacted by a GM.

Conversation with GM: https://i.imgur.com/v1WJi65.jpg

Edit: The titel is now incorrect since Araxom made it clear that this is infact not an exploit. Thanks

Edit 2: Alot of people have been asking why the GM contacted me. He contacted me after i submited a bug report regarding Mogu'shan vault lockouts that since 7.3.5 has not been working as intended. I also created a ticket regarding the bug. This is the link to the bug report: https://eu.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/17617783037

Lone Wolf for Warlocks

Posted: 25 Jan 2018 06:19 AM PST

Does anyone else want a viable "Lone Wolf" option for warlocks next xpac? At least for affliction which is arguably the least demon focused of the specs. While our pets pretty much require no management, I'd still like to not have to a doomguard constantly getting in my way. It seems like every other non pet focused class that still has a pet has the option i.e. Marksman Hunter, Frost Mages. I'd like to see locks get the same treatment.

But how in the name of ZEUS'S BUTTHOLE do they allow teams to be 3 healers vs 0 healers in a CTF map.

Honestly, nothing is more disheartening. It's not just overcoming a handicap, the other team has to be full of complete mouthbreathers to eek out a win. It's not fun, and it's not fair.

The leveling experience is the best it's been since vanilla.

Posted: 25 Jan 2018 08:52 AM PST

I know there has been a lot of controversy around the changes Blizzard made to level scaling for old content, but I really think the changes are great. Dungeons are actually fun again, and you get to see the boss's mechanics. The way it used to be, bosses would be killed in literally like 5 seconds some times, how is that fun? Yeah dungeons might take a little longer, but I think this is something long overdue. Just wanted to post this in case anyone from Blizz sees, not everyone dislikes the changes you have made to older content.

BfA Alliance faction mount is a horse? Why not a Trebuchet?

A horse is a horse but a Trebuchet is capable of flinging 90kg projectiles over 300 meters.

Make the Daily BG/Brawl give a maximum of 30 Essence a day. 30 on win, 10 on loss.

Posted: 25 Jan 2018 01:38 AM PST

This way you don't feel like utter shit losing twice in a row.

Just works like a bit of bad luck protection, theres still motivation to play to win, but it doesn't feel as crushing when you don't.

Who else is insanely excited about creating a new Void Elf?!

Posted: 25 Jan 2018 06:25 AM PST

I can't wait. I farmed my Argussian Reach and Army of the Light rep like crazy over the past couple of weeks, so that I'd be ready when the Allied Races arrive.

While I wish Void Elves could be druids, and that they could be bright and fair like traditional High Elves, I'll take what I can get. Leaning towards a Shadow Priest for the full Void-experience, a Hunter for the Alliance Ranger feel, or possibly a leather-class for that nimble and agile transmog.

How about you?

To people who dont like slow Timewalk runs - get a set of Timewalk-twink gear!

Posted: 25 Jan 2018 01:53 AM PST

So i've had a set of timewalk "twink" gear (that i will explain below) for a while now, and while im almost always top dps, this week i was curious to see just how much my dps changed between me using my "normal" gear, and my timewalk gear - and did 2 runs with normal set and 3 runs with timewalk.

The difference was night and day, i was easily pulling 3 times as much dps (topping at around 60% group dps) with my timewalk gear. The runs really didn't take long (although slightly longer than before, but not significantly so), and probably would have been even faster if i had a slightly less.... "gifted" tank.

So if you want your timewalks to be quite a bit faster, what is timewalk twink gear you ask?

Its a full set of Siege of Orgrimmar set and offset pieces, with chief requirement being that of having 2-3 sockets in each piece. Essentially everything I have is either from SOO or TOT mythic, with 2-3 sockets (even my neck has a socket) + legendary MOP cloak + Epic (pre-legendary) WOD ring, and 2 str/str proc trinkets (one was a singed fang from Legion with a socket proc, another was a socketed HFC str trinket). Put 2 leggos that work best somewhere here, and you're sorted. I was using a Legion legendary ring for 2nd slot, but if you dont want that, get the exalted ICC ring from WOTLK for that slot for tbc/wrath runs.

Note: I tested and for me as DK i had more dps in non-setbonus gear with 3 sockets than i did with 4set/2set, but this might change for your class, depending on how amazing setbonus is.

Slot the epic Cata gems in (you can get those easily from Dragon Soul), get some enchants rolling, and you're gucci!

For extra bonus use MOP flasks (those scale best) and FEAST OF THE WATERS from Draenor (it also scales best).

Do NOT use legendary ring from WOD (terrible scaling), as well as any trinkets that involve %bonus/cooldowns (i.e. 30% reduction on cooldown of X will scale down to 1-2%).

A single mythic clear of SOO/TOT should give you enough gear to already push ahead in Timewalk clear speed, that you will be able to notice!

Have fun!
